I’m quite happy to be free of this business.

I rented a keyboard to test interest with my daughter before purchasing one of our own.

I found it strange that their policy required me to fill out paperwork with a credit/debit card number complete with CVV in the year 2023 on a paper form, rather than reading the card for secure storage in an online system. I had never done this before but complied with the request. Two days later fraudulent charges showed up on my card account.

The particular unit I rented was set up as a floor model. The sales associate, when dismantling the setup, walked away from the wall with keyboard in hand, without unplugging it. This pulled the power cord sharply where it joined the keyboard and shattered the connector. While I saw the drama unfold, I didn’t know this part was broken at the time, as the associate quickly sealed the keyboard in the box and pushed paperwork under my nose, requiring me to confirm the keyboard condition. I was told the unit was brand new and so there was no need for me to inspect its condition. It appears the associate, after making an honest mistake, elected to leave the damage for me to deal with rather than do the right thing.

After I took the keyboard home and discovered the damage, a different associate at the store completed a new condition report for me the following day, so that I would not be held liable for the damage upon returning the keyboard.

While the keyboard remained in my possession it continued to work despite the shattered connector. However, if you’re renting a keyboard here, you might want to check it over before signing the condition report regardless of your associate’s claims or hurried attempts to seal any instrument in a box.

When I rented, I was told, and was provided paperwork to confirm, that a two month minimum rental was required. Further, I would pay for the first month up front and a deposit that, weirdly, would be applied to the second month. I would not be charged again until the beginning of the third month.

After the broken connector, I was already distressed by my experience with the store. The fraudulent charges appearing on my card finalized my decision that I would not be renting beyond the minimum of two months according to the contract I signed.

Strike three came when I returned the keyboard at the end of the two months. My account was in good standing according to the terms of the contract with no further money owed by me. However, this time a third associate who received the keyboard from me very carefully phrased that the only thing left to do was for her to collect payment from me for the second month. How many people actually fall for this? I made it clear that I was familiar with the terms of the contract I signed and that I would be offering no further money.

I walked out for the last time, satisfied with myself for not having provided my new card number to this particular vendor after having to change it and update other vendors two months prior.

Awful customer service. Instead of greeting us when we walked in, the woman behind the counter told us to write down our names and they would get to us when they could. Then she proceeded to walk off.

All I needed was a book. I stood there holding it for 20 minutes (being ignored) before I finally walked out and drove an extra 15 minutes to Graner music where they have always been nice to me.

If you want fast and friendly help, I recommend going to Graner instead.

***Response from the store owner has absolutely nothing to do with the fact the staff was rude to me and ignored me while I stood at the counter with only a book when there was only one other person in the store.

Guy on the phone was rude and very unhelpful. I asked to speak to someone in repair but he would not transfer me!
