This pawnshop was awesome! My first time ever going to one and it was an amazing experience! There was a collage of different video games I didn\u2019t know which one to buy for my nephew! Not only was there gaming selection top class, but so was their instrument section! All different kinds of guitars and sets that was appealing to the eye. Thanks Silas Deane Pawn! An excellent experience. Walked in and right away a gentleman was extremely friendly and courteous. I had brought in a few electronics, some of which were in very nice condition. He offered me an excellent price for the bin of things I brought in.<\/p>\n

The woman behind the counter handing out the money was also very friendly and kind. She was referring to the woman in front of me very casually and respectfully, keeping friendly with everybody waiting in line, and extremely courteous when finally giving me my bill. The nicest thing was, when I called back a few days later, this same woman answered and was equally as friendly on the phone. I thought it would be a rarity for a pawn shop employee to be so polite on the phone answering a random question, especially when rudeness can come from the most \u201cupscale\u201d forms of business. I felt very welcome there and would be happy to come again, provided I bring quality goods that I know they can use and benefit from.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

BEWARE: My fianc\u00e9 and I pawned a like-new $500 iPhone 5S at Silas Deane Pawn. We were given only $50 for it. We returned two days later to retrieve it. The screen is now SEPARATED from the body and *severely* chipped. An EMPLOYEE at the store clearly dropped it or damaged it in some other way because it was like-new when we dropped it off. Someone at the store ruined our phone. It looks like they were using it as a hockey puck.<\/p>\n

The damage is not just cosmetic either: The thumbnails are flickering and my photos are now flip-flopping back and forth at random. I have no idea how long it\u2019s going to remain even semi-usable. I got the phone out of the pawn to sell to a friend and now it\u2019s basically an expensive paper weight because an employee had butter fingers. It\u2019s shameful they didn\u2019t just come clean about damaging it when we picked it up (it was wrapped up when we retrieved it and we foolishly didn\u2019t open it up to inspect it because we trusted them).<\/p>\n

I repeat: It was in like-new condition. We are very careful with our electronics and the phone had never been dropped or treated roughly before we took it to Silas Deane Pawn. When we returned and paid the 300% interest rate fee to get the phone back it was SEVERELY DAMAGED and I cannot re-sell it.<\/p>\n

I strongly recommend that you go elsewhere to pawn your goods. Not only did the staff damage our device, they didn\u2019t know what the heck it was when we initially dropped it off! Nobody in the store knew what they were talking about or understood the difference between an iPhone 5 and an iPhone 5S when we brought it in to pawn it.<\/p>\n

Other than the horrible customer service and ruining our phone, the store is awful. It\u2019s small, dank, and they have a terrible selection of goods. The only things they appear to sell much of are weed-eaters, overpriced used CDs, overpriced Cabbage Patch dolls, a hilarious collection of mint in box N\u2019Sync barbie dolls, and other random (overpriced) items.<\/p>\n

Take your business elsewhere if you need to pawn something- you won\u2019t get much for your item here and if you choose to buy it back it might return to you damaged with no explanation. Take your business elsewhere if you\u2019re looking for a good deal on anything. Their selection of goods is mediocre and overpriced (unless you want a Joey Fatone doll in the box\u2026he\u2019s $9.99).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

I took my guitar to M&A because it had gotten a bit clunky and these guys have a luthier.<\/p>\n

Kyle, the manager, was enormously helpful in diagnosing the problem and suggesting a repair. While we were talking I looked over the guitars there and ultimately, with Kyle\u2019s help, bought one (a wonderful Breedlove ordered from M&A\u2019s stock). He walked me through the various options \u2013 what I needed and, more importantly, what I didn\u2019t.<\/p>\n

Friendly AND knowledgeable service. Great pricing on the guitar. No high pressure. Quick solutions. Best music store around.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

We have now bought two instrument and rented 4 from them and would definitly go back again. We tried the Glastonbury School recommended service and it was a mistake. Then, when it was my turn he said : I can\u2019t help you because we close at 8 come back tomorrow. I recently went to the Music & Art store and asked about my child\u2019s school instrument payment plan. We leased the instrument two years ago; but due to COVID-caused remote schooling and summer breaks, there was little use of the instrument despite monthly charges including insurance and fees.<\/p>\n

The store manager told me that I can pay up from lease to own, but refused to give me the payment breakdown, saying everything \u201cin their computer\u201d. When I asked for my contract copy, he didn\u2019t have it. I remember the contract sent from the school was very complicated with different group plans and unfamiliar billing terms, and the store ended up filling up the paperwork over the phone for us. The contract has carbon copies and the store told us they would send us our copy but never did. Now they were telling me that they didn\u2019t have the original copy of the contract for me either.<\/p>\n

I decided to pay up the rest to own the clarinet. Just be aware that the receipt won\u2019t have details of what portion is for the instrument and what is for insurance and fees, and no information about the original price and the final total payment. I ended up paying more than $200 just in insurance and fees up to now. I also found out that I had overpaid >$500 for a beginner instrument that the store billed for an intermediate model, as I compared the market price for my exact model. Since I don\u2019t have the pricing info. nor the contract, I cannot really do anything at this point.<\/p>\n

I have since found other online complaints against Music & Art regarding the rent-to-own school instrument plan. The lack of transparency and their practice of overcharge and under-report seem to be common experience of their customers. I feel that there is an element of complacency on the school and parents ends since the service is \u201cfor our children\u201d, but where is the accountability?<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

This store was not respectful of my time or my commitment, and I cannot recommend this business to others. As busy professional with children making the commitment to return to regular practice was a significant dedication of my time. After discussions with the staff at the store we found a time and an instructor who would work for me, and with my schedule. At my first lesson the instructor was surprised to see me (although my name was on his list) and I said \u201cI didn\u2019t know a new student was starting today.\u201d and \u201cI don\u2019t really play Bass that much\u2026\u201d. After a lackluster lesson which I was willing to write off as a miscommunication, I returned a week later only to find that the instructor had scheduled over my time with a different student. The staff confirmed I was on the schedule for the day. I promptly asked for my money back, including the new student fee. The manager kindly returned it, but that was the ONLY redeeming thing about my experience. All in all, this wasted about 2 hours of my life.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The owner paid to have his google rating fixed in order to inaccurately reflect the quality of business he conducts here. My personal experience is that if you are looking to sell or pawn anything then your best bet is to travel an extra quarter mile down the same road this store is located at and go to \u201cSilas Dean Pawn\u201d. For what you spend in gas you will make back tenfold by getting much better rates at that place instead. The owner here is the stereo type of what you would expect from someone who owns a pawn shop. He exploits everyone he can just to keep the lights on in his tiny little store. The selection of things to buy is equally as disappointing as the prices he offers. When you have a store like Silas Dean that has 7 diff. Locations, it becomes clear their sucess over his own isn\u2019t dumb luck. Being someone who buys and sells items as a second source of income, this gentleman always without failure comes up short everytime. I am not affiliated with any store, but I am rather a consistent customer of them both. I would hope that this review will save numerous people both time and money in the future. Seriously be your own judge, both on the business and on the individual who owns it as well. He will come up shorter than he stands tall, which isn\u2019t saying much.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

We rented a viola from Rayburn. The first viola wasn\u2019t put together right (something to do with the bridge). after switching to another viola we realized the bow doesn\u2019t quite fit with the viola.

Carin is the most amazing instructor. She loves sharing music with students of all ages. She truly loves her work. She takes time with her students, and always has a beautiful smile while she teaches. She spends extra time, because she loves her work. She is never in a hurry. I mean, never!!!! She makes sure every lesson is completely understood, before you leave. My daughter is ten and is very shy. I mean extremely shy! She walked into Carin\u2019s studio and was ready to learn. Comstock Ferre is a fantastic place to hang out and eat with family and friends. They are very safe during Covid19 times. The food is excellent, with a great deal of comfortable places to relax and eat. In warmer weather there is ample seating outside. A lovely place that is brimming with vintage charm. I love the different nooks and crannies alongside with the indoor\/outdoor sitting spaces. Location is central and lots of parking available in the street. The atmosphere is welcoming and definitely unique.
\nThe only thing I did not enjoy is the drinks. Coffee is very bitter and the late options are diluted and not that great. As someone who enjoys sitting down and studying here with a quality cup of java, I am often deterred from coming here as often as I would like. Please consider improving your coffee options! I recently moved to the area and after finding out about this place a few months ago, I make sure to stop in at least 2-3 times a week. I usually spend $70-80 for breakfast, which usually consists of sandwiches, yogurt, fresh juices, cookies\/muffins. The food is awesome. Always fresh, lots of attention to detail, and super tasty. Most of the staff are helpful and friendly\u2026.HOWEVER my last few experiences here have really soured me to the establishment. There is one younger girl who has trouble getting simple orders correct which is fine, I\u2019ve worked customer service and I\u2019m never one to make stink about things. I usually just keep a wrong order too unless I\u2019m allergic to it. A chance to try something new! But on the day she got my cookie wrong and I really wanted the cookie I asked for and I went up to tell her she put the wrong cookie in the paper bag, she argued that I ASKED for the ginger molasses, which I never would. It\u2019s not a cookie I eat. I asked her to take it back and give me the right cookie and after arguing that she definitely heard me ask for that cookie, she rolled her eyes, gave me this horrible attitude and glare and said \u201cfine, I guess you can have a cookie for free\u201d. Excuse me??? My bill was $80, I\u2019m not trying to get a free cookie, just the original cookie I had asked for! Oof. Then I had a recent encounter with I believe the owner? I had ordered 3 juices, totaling about $24 (with my breakfast that day). The woman at the juice bar made the 3 juices, one of the cups was about 3 quarters filled and she had some juice leftover from making my last juice. I said \u201coh, maybe we can just top this one off\u201d, she was NOT thrilled, ignored me, then when I said it again because I thought maybe she didn\u2019t hear me, snapped back \u201cyea it won\u2019t fit\u201d and turned away. I paid $8 for each 12oz of juice. One was not even close to full, but she was happy to dump out the extra from one of my other juices down the sink rather than top of the one that wasn\u2019t full. For a place that is passionate about food which I love, that just seems gross. Everytime I think about going back or suggesting it as a meeting spot with friends, I just cant do it. Those interactions felt so cold and rude. It sucks, the food is amazing there and there are some really nice staff there but I never know who I\u2019ll get.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

I called this business to see if my partner, who is disabled, and his service dog were welcome, and the employee said, \u201cI don\u2019t know, we don\u2019t usually allow in dogs,\u201d which is all I needed to hear. It\u2019s not about \u201cletting an employee do their job\u201d \u2013 you need to train your staff on the American\u2019s with Disabilities Act. I shouldn\u2019t have to \u201cwait\u201d to find out if my boyfriend is allowed inside your business (???) This is so disrespectful and ableist. You don\u2019t know if a service animal is welcome in a store? This isn\u2019t \u201csomething to be avoided,\u201d this is discrimination. I shouldn\u2019t even have to call ahead, but my partner faces discrimination each day due to his disability. You\u2019re clearly more concerned with a bad review than actually respecting people. ON TOP OF THAT, the girl making the smoothie took the remainder that was made, and rather than top off the customer\u2019s cup, poured it into a coffee cup herself and drank it. Right in front of my girlfriend, the customer.
