Another big box instrument store. No, Rickenbacker’s… 🙁

There acoustic guitar selection is about what is found in the big box arena. Lots of shiny dull sounding lower to middle priced stuff. The big names like Taylor, Martin there too, even saw a guild.

Nylon cross over and classical here too. Cordoba though main stream seems to always offer a decent sound at the price point. Ramirez but lower end stuff. And Chinese brands which can surprise a player if willing to ignore branding. And some Japanese brands like ibenez and Alvarez both can surprise. Every person has their own ear for what sounds good. The experienced player knows strings, set up and tunings play a role with playability tone and overall sound. Yet nothing can beat solid wood sound boards and good designed internal bracing. Found several bodies with bracing that rattled. Acoustics settle in the more they are played. But loose bracing never pans out.

Don’t know if this store has an in house luthier? Most folks buying at these prices aren’t concerned about a set up or bother replacing the dull strings the factories put on most products. this is like other big box stores. They have what they have and offer order in if needed. We only looked at guitars…but this place offers brass, orchestra strings, drums and more. The guitar store in Winter Park had a separate acoustic room for classical guitar which is VERY nice.!!

We like to visit just to kill time. Did buy a set of classical strings. And since our first visit they have stocked the Stubb’s capo…

Come on down and check the place out….
