I have a Martin D-28 which I bought at Sam Ash of New Haven. It was a great experience and it is a great guitar. After successfully completing her Master\u2019s degree, my daughter told me her next challenge was to learn guitar. We went down to the New Haven Sam Ash store. There, we met Jordan, who gave us friendly, knowledgeable and professional advice. He answered all of our questions. We bought a more entry level Martin that came with a case at a great price. My son has been taking drum lessons with Keith for a little over a year. He started with Keith when he turned 5. Keith is AweSome all around and an Amazing drummer and teacher. Never have any of the literature or instrument parts I\u2019m looking for. Took 3 months to repair a trombone. I tried to return an item and they wouldn\u2019t give me back the cash to go to another place. The owner has blatantly disrespected my mother on several occasions and doesn\u2019t have much knowledge of much of anything outside of rock music. My 10 year old daughter had been taking piano lessons previously with a very traditional teacher and was losing the fun I the music. We switched over to Amity Music and she is loving playing again. She has fun, working on a mix of classical and current music of stuff she hears on the radio. Her teacher even had her play piano while he accompanied her on drums so she could hear her music in context of a band. Great learning experience!<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Purchased a guitar for 750, now walking out with 637. Unfortunately I was not told about a very unfair and sneaky return exchange policy until I had asked after already completing the purchase. Also could not see clearly a visible sign inside that states anything about a return policy. When I asked where the sign was upon trying to return this guitar he pointed to have a corner and I still did not see the sign. I do believe that a return policy sign should be at the register for full disclosure. The law does state you are entitled to a full refund if you are not told about the refund policy during the time of the transaction, which I was not informed of that. Limited selection and unfortunately subject to a very steep restocking fee or store credit, if you are a serious musician make sure you know this first as you know that buying instruments is quite expensive and it is hard to want to get locked into something that you do not truly love.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

As one reviewer already stated. They have a terrible return policy especially with online purchases. Good store as long as you know you\u2019re going to keep the item but who really knows, its musical gear, its hard to tell if your going to dig it or not until you play it with your rig. Returning a pedal (or probably anything) is just not worth it due the return fees. 2 stars because I received it pretty quickly but definitely wasn\u2019t packed that well. Without a doubt this will be my last purchase from this store. There\u2019s plenty of other great stores to choose from that won\u2019t bend you over on return fees. **Edit for response to the owner** Yes you do clearly state your return fees online. \u201cSmall restocking fee\u201d is a bit of an understatement\u2026your restocking fee is 10%. If I pay $250 for a guitar pedal. Right off the bat you\u2019re keeping $25 of my return. I couldn\u2019t imagine purchasing a guitar online through your store.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The Music Score is now at 2315 and under new management. The store offers lessons for all instruments (including vocal), rentals and purchases on all instruments (including pianos.) The Music Score includes workshops and classes, like Music Together for toddlers, Music Fun Time for small children, and more. Jazz Band is held on Wednesday nights, Open Mic every last Friday. Other fun times are held, like Karaoke, Music Movie night, and Game night. Events are held about four times a year like The Frozen Spring Thaw, Open Houses, Christmas parties, recitals, new years for kids, and more. This store has a little of everything and caters to people from newborns to senior citizens. When you walk in the door you are part of the family and the teachers, associates, and owners take pride in caring and educating. We rented a viola from Rayburn. The first viola wasn\u2019t put together right (something to do with the bridge). after switching to another viola we realized the bow doesn\u2019t quite fit with the viola.

We are new to the area and we\u2019re pleased to have found this music store just around the corner. The customer service by telephone and in person was excellent; I spoke to a Chris and a Ruben, both of whom were gracious and helpful.<\/p>\n

I had my 40-year-old folk guitar re-strung and re-conditioned for $25! To boot, Ruben was kind enough to tune my guitar on my way out of the store.<\/p>\n

I went to their store and also called them multiple times showing interest in one of their pianos. Despite the fact I showed interest and called\/messaged multiple times on a piano, that piano was sold to an online buyer. There was no follow-up or a courtesy call to let me know that the product I was eyeing was gone or was about to be sold.<\/p>\n

Nevertheless, I think that they have a good variety and a great knowledge base on pianos. I wish they were a little bit more responsive and courteous as buying a piano is a big purchase and takes time and thought.<\/p>\n

EDIT: After my initial review, Caruso Piano contacted me and let me know that they have not reached out to me due to not getting a piano that was comparable to what I was looking for. Which is understandable. I truly appreciate them reaching out to me. I have to write that I learned a whole lot about piano buying from them when I first went to their store. UPDATE October 5 2018: Richard Caruso promptly called me the day after I posted the review below. He apologized again, and very willingly reimbursed me for my travel expenses. I feel this was the ethical and right thing to do, and am glad that he made things right with me.<\/p>\n

Original review: I flew in from Chicago to try out a Steinway B I had on deposit. The staff knew of my travel plans, and were very hospitable and welcoming. The piano, however, was noticeably out of tune on my arrival. While more accomplished pianists might not have seen that as an issue, it completely stopped me from getting excited about the piano. No sale for them, no new Steinway for me.
\nThey were apologetic and realized their mistake when I pointed this out, but were unable to get the piano tuned while I was there.
\nThis is a shop with perhaps good intentions, but they completely dropped the ball in this instance. I\u2019m writing this review because I don\u2019t want this to happen to anyone else.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

I purchased a used U1 3 years ago from Carusos.<\/p>\n

Please be aware: these are GREY MARKET pianos. They were originally built and sold in the Asian market. You will have proof when you remove the knee board and see the holder for the lease agreement. And due to that fact, the wood of the pianos is dried to standards for Asia. Not the U.S. or Northeast U.S.<\/p>\n

I do like the piano, BUT I and my piano technician are having a heck of a time keeping the damper pedal from squeaking BADLY.<\/p>\n

I had the piano saver system installed almost immediately. It has helped the piano hold tune very well.<\/p>\n

But because this instrument was not built to the specifications of an American instrument (or North America) it is expanding very badly from the humidity.<\/p>\n

I have a dehumidifier in the room with the piano, no heat or doors or windows near it. And I have my technition here AGAIN trying to shave down the knee board to try and eliminate this terrible groan\/squeek.<\/p>\n

My opinion? Buy a piano through a local piano tuner\/technition or through a referral from a tuner tech. If you are going to purchase one of these grey market instruments bring your tuner with you.
