We were kindly helped in the store, but we were buying a guitar for our son and we don\u2019t live in the US. We were having problems with internet so we couldn\u2019t research correctly at the moment, but they assured that the amp could be used in 220 current. We arrived home and we connected the amp and it didn\u2019t work. So the amp was burned. Apart from that the price was a bit higher than the same thing in other stores, it\u2019s not nice to pay 50 dollars more, but that is just business and anyone can charge what they want. It was our fault that we didn\u2019t do a good research before buying. But the very kind person that assured us that it would work because he used to be an electrician, and it only needed a basic adapter, was totally wrong and now we are home and we lost an amp, so we paid extra for the set and it didn\u2019t work. You were very kind indeed, but please if you are not sure about something, don\u2019t sell it. Because we lost money and we can\u2019t go back because we don\u2019t live there.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Rudest customer service I have ever encountered. The man I spoke to on the phone yelled and hung up on me. When my daughter went in person to drop off the instrument for repair at the agreed upon time, he remained upset and kicked my daughter out of the store. I recently made a significant gear upgrade and Martel really helped me out. If you\u2019re into one-of-a-kind guitars or pedals, this is your spot. The relaxed store environment is conducive to trying out guitars, pedals, amps, ukes, whatever you\u2019re into. It\u2019s a unique store in the way it services both the high-end and beginner areas of the market (and in between). Nothing else quite like it in CT or surrounding areas.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

As one reviewer already stated. They have a terrible return policy especially with online purchases. Good store as long as you know you\u2019re going to keep the item but who really knows, its musical gear, its hard to tell if your going to dig it or not until you play it with your rig. Returning a pedal (or probably anything) is just not worth it due the return fees. 2 stars because I received it pretty quickly but definitely wasn\u2019t packed that well. Without a doubt this will be my last purchase from this store. There\u2019s plenty of other great stores to choose from that won\u2019t bend you over on return fees. **Edit for response to the owner** Yes you do clearly state your return fees online. \u201cSmall restocking fee\u201d is a bit of an understatement\u2026your restocking fee is 10%. If I pay $250 for a guitar pedal. Right off the bat you\u2019re keeping $25 of my return. I couldn\u2019t imagine purchasing a guitar online through your store.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Purchased a guitar for 750, now walking out with 637. Unfortunately I was not told about a very unfair and sneaky return exchange policy until I had asked after already completing the purchase. Also could not see clearly a visible sign inside that states anything about a return policy. When I asked where the sign was upon trying to return this guitar he pointed to have a corner and I still did not see the sign. I do believe that a return policy sign should be at the register for full disclosure. The law does state you are entitled to a full refund if you are not told about the refund policy during the time of the transaction, which I was not informed of that. Limited selection and unfortunately subject to a very steep restocking fee or store credit, if you are a serious musician make sure you know this first as you know that buying instruments is quite expensive and it is hard to want to get locked into something that you do not truly love.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

I had a great experience at JC Music approximately 1 month ago. I purchased an acoustic guitar for a very good price , which I am extremely pleased with. The salesman was quite helpful, and took alot of time with me explaining many of different things and answering all my questions.
\nIn addition, I mentioned I had a mini-acoustic guitar which I hardly ever played, and he told me about their Consignment program. Well, fast forward\u2026they just sent me a check for 60% of the sales price they were able to sell it for.
\nI will always shop at JC Music as they are honest, friendly, have a nice selection of instruments, music, etc\u2026. I would also consider taking lessons if I get the time.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Whether your a beginner or a more advanced student the teachers can tailor your lessons to that of your needs. I have been taking voice \/ guitar lessons at JC Music for a little over a year and could not be more satisfied. In addition to the lesson program they also rent instruments so that you can find what best suits you with out the expense of buying an instrument outright. Or if your looking to buy or sell any used instruments you can take advantage of their consignment program. My boyfriend plays drums and needed drumheads and sticks. Went there for the first time and was highly impressed by their selection of products and how you could try instruments in the store. Wasted my time. I received an email coupon to bring in for a deal. There was no deal. They offered a price that was available at a nearby store.. A guitar center employee told me the coupon was good for 16 percent off but he did not apply it to the Sam Ash price. He also wanted all my private info if we were to purchase including home address, tele number, email. He told me it was for a credit check. I explained I wasnt asking for a credit check. I had my credit card and wanted to make a purchase. I should not have to be a part of their marketing schemes, and further risk my identity and potential safety, to purchase an item. I chose not to purchase the product. I have been a customer for ten years and the staff is pleasant, never provided personal info in the past, and this experience was disappointing. We drove out of our way to apply the loyalty coupon that was not honored, and to find we cannot even pay by credit card and avoid all the invasions. It felt like a one sided experience and different from what other music stores are doing.
\nI am concerned about the invasion that takes place when a credit card is connected on the store computer with a personal telephone and address. Perhaps Guitar Center can announce this to potential customers before bringing them to the store through advertising. My time is valuable.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Do not rent any instruments from them for your child\u2019s school music program. I rented a Clarinet for my son, last year. Returned it at end of school year in June. They apparently screwed up the paperwork and I have been getting bills for this since last July, saying I returned a different instrument. Every time I call them they say their rep is looking into it. (Since July, and it is now late November\u2026). Avoid buying or renting anything from this store at all costs!!!! I would give Middlesex Music Academy a 0 if I was able to. I called to inquire about a $150 charge when I haven\u2018t been confirmed by John the guitar teacher. I made a request to Matt that Tuesday was my preference but John was booked so he scheduled Thursday at 6pm. I received a text and email from John yesterday that he had a conflict for Thursday and offered Friday. I responded via text\/email that would not work and inquired if this was temporary or permanent to which I did not receive a response. I let John know this may not be a good fit then. I called today to have the charge refunded and Jim proceeded to call me names, saying I was yelling & screaming over the phone and I was being rude. No need to go into the dramatics but Jim needs a lesson in manners, telling the truth and understanding that being a manager does not give him the authority to behave poorly. Never once did I raise my voice but did correct Jim several times throughout the conversation all because i asked for a refund. Extremely unprofessional and a bad look for Middlesex Music all around. I paid $80 for a setup on a guitar and got it back with the strings a mile off of the neck and the floyd rose studs so high out of the body I could park a car under it. The bridge pickup was raised until it was practically touching the strings and the neck pickup was lowered to below the pickup ring. The tech then told me that 10-52 strings don\u2019t exist. They\u2019re light top heavy bottom and aren\u2019t even uncommon strings. Every time I go there they give bad advice and clearly don\u2019t know what they\u2019re talking about. My friend tried to buy a tubescreamer (basic overdrive) and they tried to sell him a phaser instead (completely different thing).<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

UPDATE: To clarify, the small bag of \u201ctrash\u201d was a small bag of shirts and pants that were out grown and not trash which the owner stated several times and now denies. He also forgets that I was sitting there in my car for several minutes trying to figure out what the poorly sprayed wording actually stated or if it was just covering up something and i even took out the clothes in the bag and showed it to him but he didn\u2019t care and continued to argue with me. Again, I had donated to this location before it was deemed abandoned and was accused repeatedly to get my trash out of there. I did go down the street and donated the clothes to Goodwill. The issue I have is how the owner handled the situation and the accusations that were thrown at me even when confronted with the proof that they were wrong and I was clearly trying to donate a small amount of clothes and left when asked. Move this very prominent former donation bin to the back our your lot or put a proper sign up, chain close the handle or just politely tell someone its closed.<\/p>\n

This music center used to have a clothing donation bin out front which I have donated to many times before. It has since been painted over with illegible spray paint saying bin closed. I was standing by the bin trying to figure out what the writing said and employee came out and screamed at me to take my trash somewhere else and was extremely rude shouting at me like I was doing something illegal. I came here a month ago on a Tuesday and they were closed out of the blue, so they granted me a 10% discount coupon for my trouble. I then googled their hours and noticed it said they opened at noon (I tried calling at 11:00 a.m.) but that they were opened today. To be completely sure about that, I checked their facebook page that stated, in fact, that they were open. When I arrived to the restaurant the owner greated me and stated that they have been closing on Fridays for the past 9 months and that I should have checked their facebook page prior to coming in here (REALLY?!). After explaining to him that I DID checked facebook he apologized and said he will change the facebook hours for his restaurant and offered to give me another discount coupon. I didn\u2019t even bothered to take the coupon and left very disappointed by the lack of reliability and professionalism of this place and won\u2019t ever be coming back. I\u2019m not sure how long this review will be, but I will say upfront that buying a guitar from DuBaldo Music was a great experience, from day one until I took delivery of my instrument, and beyond!<\/p>\n

I ordered an Alvarez-Yairi Honduran series (FYM66HD) guitar from Pete at DuBaldo music in April 2021.<\/p>\n

For those reading this review in the somewhat distant future, allow me to set the scene a bit:<\/p>\n

There was a LOT going on in the world during this time. The COVID Pandemic was still raging, and supply chains were snarled at every turn.<\/p>\n

Ports were closed, dock workers and truckers were striking or working limited hours under delayed timelines. Parts availability was questionable at best, etc.<\/p>\n

VERY long story short: The guitar had to be hand built in Japan, then shipped to the west coast, then shipped to St.Louis, MO, then shipped to DuBaldo Music in CT before I could take delivery. All the while, considering the conditions of the world as described above.<\/p>\n

Pete, Lisa and everyone else at DuBaldo music helped me along at every stage, kept me updated, empathized with and tolerated my frequent calls for updates, contacted the distributor in St. Louis on my behalf, and were generally very pleasant to work with over a period of just over one full year.<\/p>\n

I will not pretend that I wasn\u2019t itching to receive my guitar, or that the extended delay didn\u2019t bother me. It was a maddening wait!<\/p>\n

But I want to make it crystal clear:<\/p>\n

DuBaldo music did their absolute best to get it to me as quickly as possible, considering the extremely challenging circumstances. I can\u2019t say enough about their customer service. It was exceptional at every stage!<\/p>\n

When I made my order over the phone, Pete answered all my questions and made sure I was comfortable with what I was ordering as far as the specs were concerned. We made a deal on a VERY good price, and the wait began.<\/p>\n

I won\u2019t bore with the details, but between Japan and Connecticut there were numerous significant delays. Mostly unavoidable and one or two caused by decisions that St.Louis Music made, and\/or failed to communicate ahead of time.<\/p>\n

Pete and Lisa worked through all of this for me deftly, and professionally.<\/p>\n

I am not local to the store. I live in DC, about 6 hours away. When the guitar finally arrived, there were 3 in the order, and Pete and Lisa let me know that I could have my pick of the three. Instead of having Pete play them for me over the phone and choosing from pictures, I decided to drive up and try them out in person, and drive it home myself.<\/p>\n

Lisa and Nick were more than accommodating, and I was made to feel very comfortable while taking my time to decide. All 3 guitars were incredible instruments and it was a tough decision. Nick provided periodic feedback and assistance as I tried them over a period of about 3 hours. I never felt rushed, bothered, or unimportant. They made sure I was attended to but was not hovered over.<\/p>\n

They knew exactly how to help a musician pick an instrument, and it is clear that they wanted to make sure I was equipped to make the right choice, and leave satisfied.<\/p>\n

On the way out, as they knew I was a visitor, they even provided local restaurant recommendations, since I had mentioned that I was making my best effort to eat at great places while I was on the road.<\/p>\n

I was, and am still, very happy with the decision I made, and with the entire experience of buying from DuBaldo music.<\/p>\n

I cannot recommend them highly enough!<\/p>\n

My only disappointment was that after a year of talking to him several times a month on the phone, I didn\u2019t get to meet Pete in person, since he was out sick the day I visited.<\/p>\n

Hopefully he\u2019s feeling better now, and if I\u2019m ever back in CT, I\u2019ll be sure to stop in and thank him personally!<\/p>\n

I am writing a review for Emmet, not the store. After a ton of hassle with an online back order issue which the store had nothing to do with, and talking to 6 different people at GC customer service (not this store) this was the first person to actually seem like they cared and he went above and beyond to help me and get my order straightened out and shipped. I live in NH so I cannot speak for anyone else at the store. I hope they are as good as he is. I buy from GC all the time, their service\/ support usually sucks and sadly I expect that after being a customer for so long. But stars for Emmet!<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Extremely frustrating experience. Bought a keyboard piano here as a gift and brought it home. Usually I wouldn\u2019t check the box but with warranty that expires I took a look inside to see there was no AC adapter for the keyboard. I called the store back after I had just purchased the piano maybe an hour before, and was told there was nothing that they could do for me. The fact that it didn\u2019t have it included leads me to believe the piano was used in some way, because I\u2019m sure it is included when it is originally packaged and shipped out, yet it was sold to me as new. I asked if they could even ship me the adapter separately and was told that they could not and could instead give me in store credit for the adapter. Now I have to order a third party adapter to put into the box to package up as a gift. Would not recommend purchasing anything with their poor customer service.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

In store service is good but can never call the Hartford Rayburn Music. Electronic voice prompts to dial 0 for an attendant but when do so it says \u201cYour call cannot be transferred\u201d been a customer for about 3 years. Never could get done anything over phone. Have to visit store for everything.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

STAY AWAY from this company! I rented a cello early 2019. We returned the cello in Aug 2019 and are still getting billed for it! I\u2019ve called and left messages since no one picks up the phone in the Milford office where I rented and returned the instrument. No call back and monthly payments for the cello are still getting charged off my bank card. Had to file a complaint with my bank to stop payments. Terrible terrible business practice!<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

First, the employees were excellent; friendly and helpful. I was extremely disappointed in the store itself. This was basically a dark, messy pawn shop, not the store I was familiar with from years ago. Went in to sell my cello, the woman that was working there was amazing and very professional. She had to call the owner to ask about the selling price. He had her look up what my model last sold for on eBay (it\u2019s 2021 my dude) and there were no matches so he had nothing to go off of. I paid $1400 for it, I was looking for around $500. He wanted to give me $50. An absolute joke. I\u2019m not looking for top dollar but I\u2019m also not looking to get completely ripped off.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
