Call before visiting the store. They say they\u2019re open at 12:30 but don\u2019t show up for hours after the fact. I get it, they\u2019re a small operation, but wasting your local customer\u2019s time doesn\u2019t breed repeat customers. I needed to be in the store three times. All three times, my time was wasted because the store wasn\u2019t open during their own published times of operation. As one reviewer already stated. They have a terrible return policy especially with online purchases. Good store as long as you know you\u2019re going to keep the item but who really knows, its musical gear, its hard to tell if your going to dig it or not until you play it with your rig. Returning a pedal (or probably anything) is just not worth it due the return fees. 2 stars because I received it pretty quickly but definitely wasn\u2019t packed that well. Without a doubt this will be my last purchase from this store. There\u2019s plenty of other great stores to choose from that won\u2019t bend you over on return fees. **Edit for response to the owner** Yes you do clearly state your return fees online. \u201cSmall restocking fee\u201d is a bit of an understatement\u2026your restocking fee is 10%. If I pay $250 for a guitar pedal. Right off the bat you\u2019re keeping $25 of my return. I couldn\u2019t imagine purchasing a guitar online through your store.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Purchased a guitar for 750, now walking out with 637. Unfortunately I was not told about a very unfair and sneaky return exchange policy until I had asked after already completing the purchase. Also could not see clearly a visible sign inside that states anything about a return policy. When I asked where the sign was upon trying to return this guitar he pointed to have a corner and I still did not see the sign. I do believe that a return policy sign should be at the register for full disclosure. The law does state you are entitled to a full refund if you are not told about the refund policy during the time of the transaction, which I was not informed of that. Limited selection and unfortunately subject to a very steep restocking fee or store credit, if you are a serious musician make sure you know this first as you know that buying instruments is quite expensive and it is hard to want to get locked into something that you do not truly love.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Edit: This review was written over ten years ago but a small edit and it has now posted as recent. Not sure why but that\u2019s not why I\u2019m writing this edit here. This review being posted prompted a manager from Sam Ash to contact my father (who has the same name as me) to try and address whatever issue prompted the negative review. My father called me to let me know and told me the manager would like me to call him. Well\u2026 I\u2019ve called around 6 times now and can\u2019t get through, it simply hangs up on me after pressing #2 for a manager. I decided to give the 1-800# a call to see if they could connect me to the New Haven store manager because it kept hanging up on me. Guess what? Twice I called the 1-800#, twice they hung up. At this point it\u2019s comical. I don\u2019t even really remember what my issue was when I wrote this review but things must not be any better down there at Sam Ash since I can\u2019t even contact anyone. Keep up the great work guys.<\/p>\n

\n\u201cYou want a real review then look no further. When you walk into Sam Ash it is like walking into a garage sale. Used products trying to be pawned off with brand new retail prices. Almost everything I purchased from Sam Ash had to be returned or replaced. Customer Service hah! Forget about it. Some preemie-punk band wannabees who know only what their 1978 computer programmed screen tells them on how low they can go without making a commision. If you are a novice they will clean your wallet without even blinking! Do not buy into their trade-in program HUGE let down. They will not take anything!! You are better off going to the local pawn shop with your gear. I brought in a workstation worth triple what I was trying to trade for and they looked as confused as George Bush at a press conference and still would not trade. Do not waste your time with this Flea Market! Do yourself a favor and make the extra trip to Guitar Center or if you need orchestra instruments see your local music shop you will be 100% better off. Merchandise walks out the door with disgruntled employees and no one seems to care. I had recently checked the website to see if they had what i was looking for and it said limited stock. Fair enough so i call the store and yes they confirm there is one left. After sitting in traffic for almost an hour and a half because the closest sam ash is quite the drive for me, i finally get there and it is nowhere to be found. They made a feeble attempt at offering to order it and take something like 9 dollars off which basically amounted to not paying the sales tax but i would now have to wait several more days and make the long trip out there again plus i would have to pay for it now for them to order it. Needless to say I declined and left disappointed. But the next week out of curiosity i checked the website and sure enough it says they have it so i call and and the guy says no we had one but our old manager took it but i can order it for you. Again i would have to pay in advance and it would take a week to ten days. So several weeks later yes it\u2019s still listed on the website but is not in stock and no one seems interested in restocking or updating the website. Needless to say i go to guitar center which is about 5 minutes away from me. They\u2019ve been friendly and helpful when i order things it takes maybe 3 to 5 days depending on the items and they actually restock their inventory. I gave sam ash 3 tries and they blew it every time. Go to guitar center in Orange CT not sam ash in new haven.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Great customer service. Friendly and knowledgeable. I purchased a guitar online. George promptly answered numerous e-mails and was very flexible with different methods of payment. The guitar was shipped out immediately and I received it the next day, (I live a few States away). I have to say the Guitar arrived in mint, right out of the box condition and plays like a dream. Georges music also carries higher end guitars that will not be found (if even carried) at the average Guitar Center.<\/p>\n

When my 10 yr old wanted to start an instrument, I only thought of Matty\u2019s Music, and my daughter is so happy. I was unable to take her to look into the Baritone Horn, so my mother did. I had a great experience at JC Music approximately 1 month ago. I purchased an acoustic guitar for a very good price , which I am extremely pleased with. The salesman was quite helpful, and took alot of time with me explaining many of different things and answering all my questions.
\nIn addition, I mentioned I had a mini-acoustic guitar which I hardly ever played, and he told me about their Consignment program. Well, fast forward\u2026they just sent me a check for 60% of the sales price they were able to sell it for.

I\u2019m not sure how long this review will be, but I will say upfront that buying a guitar from DuBaldo Music was a great experience, from day one until I took delivery of my instrument, and beyond!<\/p>\n

I ordered an Alvarez-Yairi Honduran series (FYM66HD) guitar from Pete at DuBaldo music in April 2021.<\/p>\n

For those reading this review in the somewhat distant future, allow me to set the scene a bit:<\/p>\n

There was a LOT going on in the world during this time. The COVID Pandemic was still raging, and supply chains were snarled at every turn.<\/p>\n

Ports were closed, dock workers and truckers were striking or working limited hours under delayed timelines. Parts availability was questionable at best, etc.<\/p>\n

VERY long story short: The guitar had to be hand built in Japan, then shipped to the west coast, then shipped to St.Louis, MO, then shipped to DuBaldo Music in CT before I could take delivery. All the while, considering the conditions of the world as described above.<\/p>\n

Pete, Lisa and everyone else at DuBaldo music helped me along at every stage, kept me updated, empathized with and tolerated my frequent calls for updates, contacted the distributor in St. Louis on my behalf, and were generally very pleasant to work with over a period of just over one full year.<\/p>\n

I will not pretend that I wasn\u2019t itching to receive my guitar, or that the extended delay didn\u2019t bother me. It was a maddening wait!<\/p>\n

But I want to make it crystal clear:<\/p>\n

DuBaldo music did their absolute best to get it to me as quickly as possible, considering the extremely challenging circumstances. I can\u2019t say enough about their customer service. It was exceptional at every stage!<\/p>\n

When I made my order over the phone, Pete answered all my questions and made sure I was comfortable with what I was ordering as far as the specs were concerned. We made a deal on a VERY good price, and the wait began.<\/p>\n

I won\u2019t bore with the details, but between Japan and Connecticut there were numerous significant delays. Mostly unavoidable and one or two caused by decisions that St.Louis Music made, and\/or failed to communicate ahead of time.<\/p>\n

Pete and Lisa worked through all of this for me deftly, and professionally.<\/p>\n

I am not local to the store. I live in DC, about 6 hours away. When the guitar finally arrived, there were 3 in the order, and Pete and Lisa let me know that I could have my pick of the three. Instead of having Pete play them for me over the phone and choosing from pictures, I decided to drive up and try them out in person, and drive it home myself.<\/p>\n

Lisa and Nick were more than accommodating, and I was made to feel very comfortable while taking my time to decide. All 3 guitars were incredible instruments and it was a tough decision. Nick provided periodic feedback and assistance as I tried them over a period of about 3 hours. I never felt rushed, bothered, or unimportant. They made sure I was attended to but was not hovered over.<\/p>\n

They knew exactly how to help a musician pick an instrument, and it is clear that they wanted to make sure I was equipped to make the right choice, and leave satisfied.<\/p>\n

On the way out, as they knew I was a visitor, they even provided local restaurant recommendations, since I had mentioned that I was making my best effort to eat at great places while I was on the road.<\/p>\n

I was, and am still, very happy with the decision I made, and with the entire experience of buying from DuBaldo music.<\/p>\n

I cannot recommend them highly enough!<\/p>\n

My only disappointment was that after a year of talking to him several times a month on the phone, I didn\u2019t get to meet Pete in person, since he was out sick the day I visited.<\/p>\n

Hopefully he\u2019s feeling better now, and if I\u2019m ever back in CT, I\u2019ll be sure to stop in and thank him personally!<\/p>\n

Thanks again to Lisa, Nick, Pete, and everyone at DuBaldo for a trying, long lasting,, but ultimately completely satisfying experience! The guitar is utterly amazing and will be with me forever, as will the experience of shopping with you.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

He stocks a great selection of gear in all price ranges, and if he doesn\u2019t have what you want he\u2019ll find it for you. His prices are very competitive, but where Rick really shines is in his expert knowledge of music and instruments, and his fanatical commitment to customer service.<\/p>\n

One time I blew a speaker in a cabinet I purchased at the \u2018Hangar \u2014 it was under warranty, so all I had to do was send it back to the manufacturer and wait for a replacement. Rick personally took care of shipping the blown speaker back to the maker, and when the replacement was delayed by back orders he got on the phone with them and insisted they pull a speaker from their production area and ship it to me immediately, which they did. He didn\u2019t have to to that, and I doubt anyone else would.<\/p>\n

Called your West Hartford CT store early today, after calling around to several other of your stores, to see if the had a certain string for my cello and if they could fix the one string today. Was told yes on both. My husband drove 25 min there to find out they did not have the string. Drove to the nearest store that had this string (which was an additional 15 min out from my house) and they had no one to help with the cello. My husband ended up purchasing the string. Had I talked to him I would have told him not to make the purchase. Now every place is closed so tomorrow I have to go to another store to get this string put on. We needed the cello for tomorrow so you guys were literally no help. I will be returning the string and doing my business elsewhere. I should have listened to the other bad reviews. First time customer turned into last time customer.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Absolutely horrible service by the staff. Our son took lessons for two years and store failed to call when teacher couldn\u2019t make it to lesson and even refused to acknowledge that his instrument had been returned when it was sitting in front of them. Sadly, these small shops are disappearing and so it is hard to walk away from one but the staff and management is really just that bad.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

My child joined band program at her school in West Hartford. Using their online system, I placed an order for instrument rental and a book for the program. The date I placed my order, they charged my credit card.<\/p>\n

However, they never delivered the instrument until I called and confirm the status. The book was never delivered with the instrument. A week later, I called them to confirm about the book. They told me that it was back ordered. Since the book was available in Amazon for next day delivery, I asked Music & Arts to cancel my book order.<\/p>\n

After few weeks, I still did not have my credit back for the book. I called them to ask for the refund, and the customer service told me that I have to return the book (which was never delivered!) in order to get the refund and hang up on me. I used the chat function on their website to explain the situation. Here, the customer service told me that they would never charge the credit card unless the item is delivered, and conversation did not go anywhere. (Again, my credit card was charged on the date I placed order!) Not knowing what to do, I called the store in West Hartford, left my phone number with an employee so the manager can call me back. No one called me back. I sent polite email to the manager, and also emailed the customer service. No response from anyone.<\/p>\n

I will NOT order anything from this business in the future.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

If I could give negative stars I would. I waited 10 days for this item I bought used from the guitar center website and actually called the store in Danbury, CT where a condescending man-child with an English accent assured me the item was in mint condition. They shipped it across the country in the original packaging with no bubble wrap, protective box, or anything that would protect it. The unit was rattling around in the box when I picked it up. Upon opening it I found that every side was broken and it was covered in some sort of sticky substance. I don\u2019t appreciate being lied to, having my time wasted, or this incompetent attempt at shipping an expensive item I spent my hard earned money on. I\u2019ve spent thousands upon thousands of dollars at guitar center. Unbelievably incompetent\u2026<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
