There flutes are high end, handcraft quality instruments. I\u2019m very happy with de two flutes I bought from them and I am looking forward to expand my high spirits flute collection. I started the native flute about 6 months ago due to a lung disease, a friend mentioned it would be good therapy. Within a couple of months my length of playing time has doubled. I have found High Spirits Flutes not only make a superior flute but their customer service is unequaled. I have bothered them with many emails as well as phone calls and they handled this with high spirits and great humor not to mention they are very helpful. Not once have I heard the term, \u201cGee, I don\u2019t know, let me check into that\u201d. I am getting ready to purchase my third flute from High Spirits. I have purchased two flutes for my wife from High Spirits over the course of three years \u2013 the \u201cSparrow Hawk\u201d key of A, walnut, and the \u201cSpirit Flute Traditional Bass\u201d Key of D, Spanish cedar. Both are extremely well crafted, easy to play and look fantastic. My wife is not a musician and practices sporadically, but she has nonetheless made good progress because of the ease and \u201capproachability\u201d of these instruments. I am most impressed with the Spirit Flute; my wife was seeking a deeper tone, but a traditional \u201cD\u201d bass flute is rather large and can be cumbersome for a beginner. Somehow, Odell Borg, the \u201cspirit\u201d and craftsman behind these flutes and this company, was able to design a shorter, much easier to handle flute without sacrificing any of the deep, \u201cD\u201d tones. We have a neighbor who owns High Spirits traditional \u201cD\u201d bass flutes; played the two side-by-side, and there is very little discernible difference. Quite a feat!<\/p>\n

I recently heard that High Spirits suffered a terrible fire at their business that nearly wiped them out. I can\u2019t tell you what a grave loss that would have been to the spirit of all musicians who seek authentic Native American instruments. May Odell and High Spirits continue on for many, many moons to come!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Just want to say that I am a fan of this store. I think they do a great job at helping people find what they are looking for and have them leaving satisfied with their musical purchases. I used to be loyal customer for years. Howerver, M&A\u2019s new strategy of \u201cPaperless receipts\u201d, requires that I provide my email address for a purchase. Their \u201cpaperless reciept\u201d excuse is nothing more than a strategic excuse to obtain email addresses so they can spam. When I stated I do not provide my email, they refused to sell me a service. I have since found a local music store that is more friendly and will no longer use M&A.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

I was very unhappy with the way this store sold us an instrument after we rented one for over two years. We qualified for the rental credit and it was given to us. The problem was that they valued the used rental instrument at $800+ and they sell the same one brand new for about $470. The reason they do that is that there is a clause that states that when using the rental credit one must buy an instrument that cost the same or more than the rental so they jack up the value of the rental. We were told that we couldn\u2019t buy the flute we had been renting and could not get a new flute because it wasn\u2019t equal or more value to the one we had been renting per terms of our agreement. They said that our only option was to purchase a used refurbished flute from the warehouse and it would be sent to us. We feel that this is a very shady way to do business. Not recommended. One of the worst experiences I have ever had dealing with incompetent employees all the way up to management (heaven) to even cooperate , I\u2019m so thankful I no longer have to deal with any of these people again especially the guitar instructor, I did not appreciate every little comment he made about any of the equipment we brought in to shame my child because the items he brought in were passed down from his grandfather , I also find it way more convenient to order my items on Amazon for a much lower rate and to not have to deal with individuals that are looking to charge me an over priced rate , I gave a small shop a chance to help out locally and all they did was run the \u201che said she said \u201c experience, I will not and do not recommend this place to anyone , one of the worst experiences I have ever had at any facility . I could not agree more with those who shared these people prey on the elderly. My very elderly father purchased a top of the line organ and had roughly $80k invested in it. I won\u2019t even go into the details of the transaction(s) but he passed away and fletchers sold it on consignment, and I kid you not, the family got 3.7 cents on the dollar for a near new organ. I would love to know who they preyed on next and how much they sold it for (mind you that it sold almost immediately). I am absolutely incredulous as to how condescendingly I was treated over the phone by this place. I arrived with my Taylor 312-CE looking to trade up and quite likely spend substantial chunk of money. I noticed the posting on the door that read (I may be paraphrasing) \u201cmasks required even for those vaccinated.\u201d I have been twice jabbed with Pfizer, but no problem. I get it. I understand it. People may not be fully honest about their status and might contaminate others. I have zero issue complying with the policy The posting also read \u201cdo not knock; call to be granted entry\u201d (again, I may be paraphrasing, but this was the gist). I keep a KN-95 with me in the car but couldn\u2019t find it. Maybe it fell behind the seat or something. I ring their number. A woman answers. Convo goes like this: \u201cHi, I noticed you require masks even for the vaxxed, which I am fully, but I can\u2019t seem to find mine here in my car\u2026.I\u2019m here outside\u2026.do you happen to have any masks there inside the store that you could pass out to me\u201d? (like logical, sensible merchants across town, the state, the country have in abundance in case you forgot or can\u2019t find yours\u2014sterile ones for the taking in boxes) \u201cIf not, I don\u2019t live too far. I can run home, grab one and come back\u201d. The woman on the phone raises her voice and says \u201cNO YOU NEED TO WEAR A MASK\u201d and abruptly hangs up!! Um, I think I got that part and more than amply communicated it back. Wow. And delivered with a tone of voice akin to Mrs. Gulch from Wizard of Oz. I was perfectly polite, acknowledged the policy and was willing to go out of my way to comply. This is not only ridiculously bad policy, but there was not even basic intelligible, lucid communication on her part. Not the conduct of a sound minded individual.<\/p>\n

Now, for some background. I have never made any major purchases at Folk Shop. However, I have patronized them over years\u2013even before I moved to Tucson. The first time, I was recording an album visiting from Austin in 2014 and needed a dobro capo. The engineer called around to Guitar Center and few other places. They didn\u2019t even know what a dobro was, much less a dobro capo. Folk Shop to the rescue with a Paul Beard capo, just like the one I had forgotten and left back in TX! I\u2019ve been there since for strings, straps, stainless steel slides etc. Never ever the slightest of problems. What happened today is totally inexcusable. I myself have been fastidious and a stickler about masking and distancing throughout the pandemic, but this kind of post-mandate fanaticism, illogic and outright meanness is beyond the pale. They certainly don\u2019t want my money or any of my future business. To hell with this place. l\u2019ll buy a guitar from Musician\u2019s Friend before stepping foot in there, even though I prefer to shop locally.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Havent heard from him since, now i have to find time to go back to retrieve my property and i expect him to give me a hard time based on how he has treated me so far. I have purchased over $10k of guitars from Rainbow, so I will say the selection is great. The customer service is possibly worse than any guitar center. The employees act like you are bothering them when you inquire about inventory or you feel like they are judging your ability to buy the instrument before helping out. Since they are now only online, you can find the same selection with better pricing elsewhere. PitBull audio out of San Diego has been my new go to. Same instrument selection, better prices and much more friendly staff. Chicago Music Exchange will also be more competitive with better customer service. Five stars when the old man ran it downtown and had everything 3 stars since he passed awesome high quality then ok now but comparitively approaching mediocrity in quality and in off brands mediocre quality instruments profitable in margins for them but way too many entry level instruments and equipment still an interesting group of shops but it was a virtual museum of guitar and instrument history when the old man had it with every guitar you could every want from the 50s to the present..sometimes change isnt good keep the old mans business acumen and legacy somewhat intact and its easily 5 stars plus his was the best music store in the world in my book and ive seen many its still good but not crazy awesome like when he had it and one of a kind then but its in extreme danger at this point of going from a one of a kind store with everything vintage and new anyone could ever want from beginner to superstar to just another music store in a sea of music stores from one of a kind unique to just like all the others..some emotional attachment here but keep at least some of the old mans vision for what was once hands down the best music store in the world..still good but not at all the chicago store i once knew and loved<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

I hate saying anything negative about a local music shop, especially one who normally does so well with its customers, but I had an experience with their repair shop that is disappointing enough to take my business elsewhere.<\/p>\n

I brought in an old trombone for a dent repair on the bell side, which yes they repaired quickly and at a good price.<\/p>\n

But in the process they tried to adjust the slide and ended up knocking it so out of alignment it couldn\u2019t slide back into 1st position.<\/p>\n

When I pointed it out the tech made an attempt to bend it back to its original shape but unfortunately that only made it worse. after a few weeks in the case like that it ended up stuck shut.<\/p>\n

I when I called the shop to look for a solution the tech said it wouldn\u2019t be as simple as bending it back to shape, and instead quoted me a price to redo the slide, which is more than a new trombone would set me back<\/p>\n

if I brought in a broken instrument and left with a broken instrument I could just accept it as a lost cause, but the horn played fine when I brought it in and is the only one I have.<\/p>\n

I just brought it in for a cosmetic dent repair and I did not ask for the slide to be touched at all.<\/p>\n

now I have to find a new repair shop or a new trombone, either way, I am disappointed by the outcome.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

This bad review concerns Maria Ferraz, piano teacher. Our initial meeting seemed positive and I felt comfortable with her with my three year old son. To make sure he was ready to be taught piano, according to her, we set another appointment the following Saturday. This time she wasn\u2019t as nice and patient. I was outside the room while she stayed in the room with my son. To begin, my son is three. He is a very curious boy. This particular day he wasn\u2019t wanting to sit and learn. As I peeled through the window, I saw Maria force his little hand to play the piano. My son resisted and just sat there staring up. She then yells at him, \u201cWhat are you looking at? What are you looking at?\u201d She turned to see if I was standing there and she just nodded her head. I opened the door and grabbed my son.<\/p>\n

I also want to point out that she has a lot of pictures, posters, just stuff in her tiny room enough to distract anyone much more a three year old. Also, if she doesn\u2019t have the patience it takes to teach a three year old, then you shouldn\u2019t advertise that you do. And lastly, you have no right to yell at my son or any child who doesn\u2019t have the ability to fully comprehend what is happening, what you are asking, or able to express his emotions with proper vocabulary to answer your ridiculous questions!<\/p>\n

This place is awesome! Really nice variety of musical instruments of all kinds. The store is roomy , impeccably clean and staffed by very knowledgeable people. I went there on a Sunday it was almost accidental there were no other guitar stores open on Sunday but they were. I was looking for a new amplifier for my guitar. Not only did I find one I found a really good one I think I played guitar in there for about 4 hours testing out this amplifier. I tried a couple Epiphone Guitars to. Sometimes paying the big bucks for a guitar is worth it. I didn\u2019t have $1,000 to put down on that guitar that I tell you what, that was the slickest guitar I ever played. It almost played itself. Effortless all up and down the neck. But when it\u2019s all said and done the thing that impressed me the most about this store is the quality of the staff that works there. They want to be there and it\u2019s obvious. I don\u2019t know if this is a franchise or not. I do know there are Guitar Centers All Over America but this one has that special Tucson vibe and that happens because of the people. New and used equipment these people will work with you. Multiple Panera Bread restaurants in other states have closed early without indicating. Is this trend indicative of a larger corporate problem? Supply chain management problems, product quality decline & poor customer service, when other establishments have figured out how to navigate restrictive operations.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The food here is very good. And it\u2019s food that you can\u2019t get anywhere else in the area. However, they are extremely rude. Helping you over the phone is a clear and vocal annoyance to them. I\u2019ve been hung up on after a single question because they don\u2019t want to wait for the second question. Their availability of what\u2019s on the menu is a tossup, hence the need for call ahead. There\u2019s no area to pay & pickup if you\u2019ve called ahead. You have to wait in line with everyone else trying to figure out what to order. There are some things they will NOT accommodate, such as tossing the dressing into a to-go salad. They absolutely refuse and will only put dressing on the side.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
