Finally a West Marine in the Fishing Capital of the World! Everyone has trouble with finding great employees in the Keys and they are working out the kinks, but this store will shine.
One of the older staff members is a bit grumpy but besides that they had the battery and CCA measuring device I needed.
Great selection and very helpful team members
Pricey and the staff are a bit unaware of the inventory. Otherwise stocked with many different gear. If you need bait and basic fishing gear go to a bait shop
Clean and organized
On vaca, husband needed hooks, we lft w/hooks to fish with, hooks to take home for him to tie teazers with and a long sleeve fishin shirt! One stop shoppin, lucky guy!!
Drove over an hour to pick up about 4K in electronics. They wouldn’t let my wife & son use the bathroom due to covid. So they tell us to go across the street. We tried but they wouldn’t either. WTH! Customers should demand a bathroom from local business, especially when doing business with them.
This isn’t right.
Bought new Yeti Tundra 45 Saturday and when placed in boat same day realized it did not have a drain plug. Called west marine before they closed and was told “ I should have checked it for the plug before I bought it” and they would have to review the “footage” because they had no proof it wasn’t there when I bought. Even went so far as to say “I’m not calling you a liar”. Seriously? Is that a normal requirement when purchasing any item to make sure every part is there? Especially a Yeti from a reputable retailer? Why would I purchase a 300 dollar yeti and intentionally make up missing a 10 dollar part. I supposedly was speaking to the manager Nathan and he finally said come back in and “most likely” he would give me a plug. So drive back 20 miles (on vacation no less) to MAYBE be given a plug that should have been part of the cooler to begin with? Honestly I think Yeti would cringe at this lack of support for their product. Nathan never entertained an ounce of customer service and was defensive and accusatory from the second i explained the unfortunate situation instead of trying to rectify it. West Marine has always been easy to work with so clearly this is a store manager issue but will also be writing yeti
Terrible. This is a clothing store nothing more. Its bee going downhill for years. Definetly not the S. Mia store, embarrassing to call it a Marine store. Its a fashion outlet for tourists!
3. Bob’s Bunz
Address: 81620 Overseas Hwy, Islamorada, FL 33036 , Islamorada , Florida , United States
Awesomeness! Crab cakes where great, save room for the cinnamon buns!
Highlight of our family vacation. We also brought as many Bunz with us as we could!
Great cinnamon bun coffee and cinnamon bunz.
Busy little place. Need more staff hired. Very, very good banana bread French toast. My skillet dinner was good. Fiancés steak was dry. Biscuits are a no go. You’ll get them stuck in your throat. Switch to homemade buttermilk biscuits chef Bob. Decor is kind of dive diner like. I’d go back still for certain items at certain times.
Wife loves the cinnamon bun, my breakfast Fair
Parking: Tite come early if possible
Had a table of 8 and they didn’t notify us that the check would not be able to split before we ordered. They would not separate our bill for us and gave us major attitude about it. ( biscuits and gravy are mediocre)
Manager (or so called) today was extremely rude and unpleasant. We’re locals and wouldn’t come back soley for her.
After speaking with her no one came to our table for drinks orders or asking us anything for 15 min, so the behavior of the staff based off the manager was unexceptable and poor
Do not waste your money here. If zero was an option. You’d be getting it. Read the reviews, wished I had. We spent the weekend in the Keys for our anniversary. We stopped by for some of the most delicious pastries (so we’re told) We spent around $28 for a couple of things for a to-go order. These things tasted like they were 2 weeks old, stale, dry and very disappointing. Shame on you… We threw the rest in the trash. When you charge a premium, you better make sure your pastries are, at a minimum FRESH. I will never eat here again. I will do everything in my power, to spread the word.
4. Sessions Recording Studio
Address: 88005 Overseas Hwy, Islamorada, FL 33036 , Islamorada , Florida , United States
Excelente restaurante, todo temático, pitoresco, comida muito boa, bem servido. Vale muito a pena conhecer.
One word says it all amazing must see too believe
Good food and friendly staff. But FLIES. They are so bad. We had to get to go boxes because the flies were literally attacking. Lol.
Cool
A nice tourist attraction. Bring your wallet because you are a tourist town and that means money. Everything in this place cost money to do. Evens go and watched The Big tarpon fish cost you a few dollars to walk on there dock. Lots of little shops to do some shopping for gifts. A very crowded place to sit down and eat. And the bar is just as busy as well. But you’re on vacation so take the time wait in the lines and see things that you haven’t seen before. All in all it is a nice place
A really nice location and vibe. However, we couldn’t review the food because we waited 40 minutes for a table and then another hour and 20 minutes at our table until we finally decided to call it quits and find food elsewhere.
The food in this place is nasty. It taste like frozen food. The place is nice to walk and have drinks but i dont recommend to eat anything . I had ceviche and it was the worse ceviche I had in my life.
Came for lunch. Quoted 45 min wait, waited 1.5 hours. Ordered food, waited 1 full hour for apps. Was told “coming soon guys” 2 times. When apps finally arrived, a child vomited next to our table, splashing onto one of us. By the time lunch arrived, the vomit was still there. One staff member tried sweeping it but no-one rinsed, put a towel over it or anything. No-one offered to move us. Asked for boxes to go for lunch as no-one wanted to eat. While waiting for boxes, giant iguana urinated and deficated on 2 of us and our food. Alerted wait staff. Received the bill, no discount, just a Sorry Guys.
1.5 hour wait was worth it. For was great. We come every year, and the food never disappoints. The shrimp and grits is great. The special also was great, as were the scallops.
Most excellent
Guy Fieri was right!!. The Lobster Mac & Cheese was superb. Yummy and delicious. Plus, got 30% discount between 3:30 pm and 5:30 pm on a Thursday afternoon Dec 27th. Nice deal!!
Cute and very well kept. Selection is small.
Good food, great service, nice atmosphere
Good drinks and excellent hamburger
Denied my 5 year old little girl her restroom when stuck in dead stop traffic for 2 hours even after I made a purchase…not friendly worth the drive to some other place
Not a very friendly place. BARTENDER WAS RUDE AND SLOW .
Stopped in for dinner and drink one evening. Staff ignored and avoided us then made comments to other patrons about not liking to serve “tourists”. We left.
11. Islamorada Wine Co.
Address: 80925 Overseas Hwy #3, Islamorada, FL 33036 , Islamorada , Florida , United States
Just what Islamorada needed! Lovely space with friendly knowledgeable owners.
Amazing selection of wines, great assortment of charcuterie! Cute little shop with terrific staff! Will definitely go back.
I was looking for a wine experience and this was perfect. The selection was unique and after tasting a few varieties I chose a red from France which was amazing! The food is surprisingly good I chose a cheese plate which was a meal in itself. Definitely recommend this spot for all you wine enthusiast.
The place is ok.
Nice winery however you can buy all of the same wines at the local grocery store.
12. Forever Young Charter Company
Address: 80461 Overseas Hwy, Islamorada, FL 33036 , Islamorada , Florida , United States
Hands down coolest guys to dive and spearfish with. They make sure you are safe and comfortable and they do the best to put you in front of the fish of a lifetime.
Amazing time! They taught us how to use the guns and also took care of those us who just wanted to snorkel. We would definitely book with them again!!
I have been diving with Tony multiple times. He is extremely knowledgeable, experienced, and accommodating to all skill levels. The experience that FYCC provides is individualized & may include spearfishing or snorkeling. Tony knows all the spots to go. FYCC is family run and their love for what they do is evident; they also really care and work to nurture ocean health which I certainly appreciate in a company and love supporting. If you are in the Florida Keys, I HIGHLY recommend them! They are amazing. I learned and saw so much and had an absolute blast!
Fun and educational place. Kids had fun also. Cute little shop as well. Interesting to see all of the different masks through time.
I learned alot although you would need a lot of time to read everything.
A little expensive, about $40 per, but the museum is chock-full of diving artifacts, all displayed very lovingly and interestingly in chronological order. Many cleverly used mannequins bring the exhibits to life. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable and share a love for diving.
Me ha gustado mucho, es muy curioso y bastante completo para el q Le puede gustar saber todo sobre el buceo, una señora no habla español pero superamable en intentar explicarlo en español.
A very interesting stop with a lot of information on diving. Just be prepared to read a lot. But we’ll worth it.
Liked the museum, but of every single place I’ve been in Florida this is the only place I have been where I was made to wear a mask. I was ok with that but when I exited the museum to the area where workers were working and I heard them talking about the people who entered without a mask I kind of got upset. She said we were risk takers and she didn’t want us there. Had I known that ahead of time I would not have even went. If they feel this way they should probably just fold up shop and close rather than talk about the customers paying for a tour in front of other customers.
I puted one star because this is one from one thousand places that still regarded wear mask. Most not smart thing what people do.
About the museum: Nice interior and style, convenient parking, the museum has a lot of interesting things. We spent about an hour to see all the equipment. It was very interesting
We are disappointed that you have to wear a mask in there still. So we just left.
15. Florida Keys Farmers Market
Address: 81001 Overseas Hwy, Islamorada, FL 33036 , Islamorada , Florida , United States
This is an excellent farmers market. There were lots of unique items here, dresses, pants, foods, and many more items. One vendor sold jars of jellies and mixes that looked and taste really good. I tried a few. I left with the tamarind and date chutney. I only wish I had bought a few bottles of this instead of one. I bought some really unique pants from another vendor, and a few mangoes from a lady with a stall next to him. I wish I had a few more vacation days since I would have gone down the Keys and checked this Farmers Market out a second time. Really great place.
Only thing for men to do is look at women or over priced but unmarked food items
Very cool vibe, decent array of vendors. Although it has more to do with market selling miscellaneous items than it does actually selling farm fresh foods and vegetables. Still a nice place to visit and buy local products, just don’t plan on getting all your fruits and vegetables here.
Small farmers market
Very disappointing only one fruit and vegetables and they were not the best.more of a flea market
This is quite a small market; a fruit stand, a BBQ van, a cheese stall and a pastry stall, plus 1 clothes / decorative items. People are friendly but I felt that for local produce it was quite expensive.
Not much selection
16. Lorelei Restaurant & Cabana Bar
Address: 96 Madeira Rd, Islamorada, FL 33036 , Islamorada , Florida , United States
Great food and drinks. Quick service. Fun atmosphere. Live music playing at sunset.
Been here a couple times and always a great experience. Fantastic food, amazing setting!
Always loved their Key Lime daiquiri. Now they’ve added this delicious Bushwacker!
Good food and drinks, nice views. No shade or umbrellas for beach side tables. Service is ok
Nice hang out if you want some fresh air. Good atmosphere
Great service,wonderful view….good food…kinda typical bar food
Poor service, unfriendly bartenders, place used to be so much better than it was,,,the icon of islamorada is fading fast
The location is great , nice beachy feel alongside a pier. Drinks were cheap tasted fine. The issue was the food itself. We ordered “snapper” peppercorn crusted key lime. We were extremely disappointed when the fish came out and it was literally fish sticks. No where did it say that it wasn’t a whole snapper? The fish sticks had Zero flavor, there was no salt or seasoning, to the breading and zero seasoning on the actual fish . It was the plainest tasting thing I’ve ever had at a restaurant. For $28 to get tasteless fish sticks labeled “fried snapper” is disappointing.
The food (mahi mahi and coconut shrimp) were average at best. The service was terrible (slow and inattentive).
17. Clearly Unique Snorkel & Sandbar Charters
Address: Islander Resort or Cheeca Lodge & Spa 82100, 81801 Overseas Hwy, Islamorada, FL 33036 , Islamorada , Florida , United States
Clearly Unique Charters is a great way to go if you want to snorkel and go to the Sandbar!!! My husband, daughter and I went this past Monday and had a wonderful time!
Matt and Brady were great hosts. The reef snorkeling was great, and the area we went to had lots of wildlife, including a turtle. Hanging out on the sand bar was a nice way to end the trip. Matt and Brady were friendly, out going, and the rum punch and cold beer was a nice touch! Highly recommend booking with Captain Matt!
Great people, we had so much fun! Thank you!
Snorkeling on the riff for about an hour, staying in the shallow area for paddle boarding, staying in the water, drinks provided.
If you leave your things in the middle section of the boat, make sure that you put all your stuff in the middle, NOT next to the borders of the indentation – they will get thoroughly soaked, if you do!
We called same day and were able to get a charter with a great tour of the island.
Difficult to find. But, an OK trip.
Me and my family were pulling up to a mooring buoy in Cheeca Roc reef today 7/5/22. We were clearly heading to it and my wife pointed out that there was a boat behind us. No big deal, we have the right of way as we’re the front boat. Their pontoon comes rushing in as we’re making our approach. I watch one of the guys rush to the front of the boat with his hook to grab the morning line. They then proceed to tell me we can either anchor or attach to their boat. Very unprofessional and didn’t care about boating etiquette.
Edit – Not sure how you gathered we were in a small boat as no where in my review did I mention the size of our boat. And sorry I don’t know the differences between a cat and a pontoon, they are very similar and I don’t own either. When 1 vessel is going 5mph and another is going 10-15, it’s not hard to overtake. Even a 100+ ft yacht can overtake a “smaller, faster, more maneuverable vessel.” The only stress was from your crew being extremely rude. If they had beaten us before we were making our approach, whatever, but it wasn’t until I slowed down to let my wife grab the line that they flew past.
I would never book with your guys even before our run in. Looking at your replies, they are not professional in the least, 4 star review, your reply, “we’re on island time, what’s 1 minute.” They never said how late the crew was, but to leave a review it was definitely over a minute, no one notices a minute. When you pay for time you expect the full time. If someone who booked with you is late, you wouldn’t wait for them, why should a customer have to wait for you?
I do own a small business, 2 actually. If the crew truly wasn’t yours, which it was, you leave the reply alone or just say, ” I’m sorry you had that experience, we didn’t go there.” Done, but you sent a massive reply indicating that it was actually your crew, you just don’t want to take responsibility.
Now you have a VERY long bad review.
I was very dissatisfied with the charter. We were to go to the reef. We were not informed until out on the boat that it is too rough to go to the reef. The took us to the outskirts of founders beach where I was yesterday on my own and got stung by jelly fish. There were hundreds on the bottom of the water and the water was not that deep. They looked like sea anemones not jelly fish. The water was murky and nothing to see. We were next supposed to stop at the sand bar but was informed by the owner he was making an executive decision to take us elsewhere ( the contract states it would be a group decision not an executive on what other activities to do if for some reason the original would not work out). So where did they take us? To another area about 2-5 ft deep max and full of jelly fish on the bottom- every where. I was snorkeling with jelly fish less than a foot beneath me. There was nothing to see in these mangroves as well and two other couples left highly disappointed. We should have been informed prior to entering the boat that the plans were changed. This is poor customer service and people just out for your money. It was $200 for the two of us. I want at the least a portion of my money back based on principle. They took the next charter out and never advised them about not going to the reef either. Would not suggest using them again due to their lack of honesty.
Very very rude guy who picked up the phone could care less about what i asked and gave 20 minutes to get to his location for a snorkeling trip. All he mentioned that if we can not make it he will shut down for two weeks and then hung up on me. I would give a zero if they had that rating. Would not recxomend it to anyone. Plenty more around where they actually want the business.
18. The Whistle Stop Pub
Address: 82685 Overseas Hwy, Islamorada, FL 33036 , Islamorada , Florida , United States
You could tell the second you walked in, this is where the locals hang out. Good food from both it’s neighboring pizza place, that’s connected, great portions and pricing at the whistle stop. Pool tables, juke box, open late, great combination for a great night out.
Excellent food and service. Was not busy at all.
The black and blue burger is amazingly good. The waitress was good but not extremely friendly. The pub is nice we went with our kids and it wasn’t bad, but the pizza shop next door is owned and operated by same ppl with the same menu so that is more kid friendly
Fun spot for Friends to stop & pour back a drink. Stop in with Friends & maybe make some new ones.
Great pizza
I’ve lived in the Keys 5 years and it used to be a gem for tourists but especially locals. Today, I watched a high or drunk bartender naned Christina avoid helping customers get drinks (her job) to argue with a customer about a 2 dollar charge to the point she said “dude come look at the register” at least a few dozen times!! Now it is a dump that seems to hire inexperienced bartenders that drink and drug to excess even on the job! Go to OV or Lorelei and save yourself the hassle of this place!!! I personally loved that place before covid and REGULARLY went there but never again!!!
Awful.. If you’re not a local, you will be ignored. Very run down place. Can’t rate the food, as we never even got spoken to.
Disgusting is all i can say, wanna get harassed by dirty old men go there
19. Island Flow Yoga
Address: 136 Madeira Rd, Islamorada, FL 33036 , Islamorada , Florida , United States
Given the opportunity to partake in one of Lauren’s international yoga retreats, jump on it! You won’t regret it!
This is the Best Yoga experience in Florida. Fabulous waterfront setting. Each class is unique with a perfect pace for any skill level. Lauren is a gem. Give it a try…
Went to my first Island Flow yoga class today and will definitely be back! Lauren is very warm and welcoming. Her flows are creative, challenging (though not intimidating), and she is very knowledgeable on alignment. Her classes are filled with spiritual nuggets of wisdom, which I personally love. The sunrise yoga class is the best way to start the day. The setting is gorgeous as well. Highly recommend!
20. Whale Harbor Marina
Address: 83413 Overseas Hwy, Islamorada, FL 33036 , Islamorada , Florida , United States
Hermoso lugar en contacto con la naturaleza donde todo es equilibrio
If you’re going fishing out of this marina you gotta look up Capt. Rick with Sea Horse charters
Food was ok, they need more choices like they had before.
Very good service. Shrimp and blue crabs good. King crab legs use to be included in buffet price now stand alone price. Oysters sucked. Not sure if I will go back. Been going there for years.
Not what it used to be! Been a few times since remodeled and It always seems empty not like before. Go cheap and suffer is all I can say. Sad…place was the funk back in the day!
The server’s were phenomenal!! However, the foid was lacking severely!! The only thing that tasted right WERE the crab legs. The presentation of the food was more important than the quality to the management of this restaurant. We could get crab legs somewhere else for this price!
