Friendly staff. They really let you do your own thing and try the merchandise
Very nice, knowledgeable, and helpful young lady helped me buy strings and fast fret. Lots of beautiful guitar gear.
Great place to try b4 u buy on Amazon
Over all the great experience every time I Come here to get whatever it is I may need. A little short staffed so it could be sometimes difficult to get ahold of somebody or try out that piece of equipment you’re looking for but that just comes with the territory. Everyone is professional and polite and I join my visits when I come and I only share I end up coming back here before too long for something else I’m missing. Some prices are a little exaggerated but as a chain store you can safely expect that but this location is pretty convenient and is very professional all the time.
The place is still wonderful to visit, but you have to get a drum tech or manager to fix that room. I understand that it’s difficult to hire people. Do you offer discounts on your merch to employees for an incentive. I came in to spend about 300.00 and walked out empty. For the second time.
Usually a pretty good experience. My only gripe is staffing. Seems like the only employees here are running registers. It seems like they’d want at least one employee working in each room.
Update: Still issues with staffing. Just not enough employees working to help.
Not enough product on hand
This place had the worst staff in the world. Me and my father were there for an HOUR! It was ridiculous the pro audio guy was looking for a used item that was on their website. And he said that it was somewhere in the store. Really who would say something that stupid to a customer. So we waited and waited and waited and he have us some useless updates on finding it. Then right about when the store was about to close OHH WOW! He came up to us at the last second and said oh.. Yeah well we still can’t find it. And then me and my dad were really upset about that. After a pause the guy said oh well you I can order it for you. Now I’m not stupid I know used items cost money to ship. Plus IM NOT EVEN IN THE AREA. I swear I am never coming back to this store and you shouldn’t either.
3. Guitar Center
Address: 21335 US Hwy 19 N, Clearwater, FL 33765 , University , Florida , United States
Hanna at the Clearwater, FL store was amazing! She helped my son find his first new guitar and she went out of her way to make sure we were satisfied. In addition, we went into the store about 30 minutes from closing time and she let us take our time and never seemed in a rush for my son to decide. Hannah was awesome!
Good looking,homeless person, working tha
I had an excellent experience with Zack (Zach?) who helped me patiently even though it was busy, and gave me a tip for adjusting my acoustic guitar’s truss rod that saved me a ton of time and hassle.
It was busy and was short on staff, however, my daughter was able to practice using a cello. She enjoyed that. The had a good selection. We will be back.
Looks like they have just about anything you could want. Not just guitars there. They gave keyboards, drum sets of all kinds, electrical stuff for performing. Clean store.
Organized place
Went to pick up an amplifier because it said it had it in stock online.. in stock doesn’t mean the floor sample!!
Bought a beginner bass at Guitar Center. Was sold on the buy now, trade up later. Went back a year later to trade up. Guitar is mint as I knew I would be trading in. Guy at counter said, “no trade in. We are more conservative now and only take specific trades.” Buyer beware.
This store and the people that work there are so cool I can’t say enough good about them.
It saddens me to edit this review (as their phone support is incredibly incompetent) but….last year I bought almost $500.00 in gear (a Jackson guitar and a Pevy amp.) with their 2 year warranty. The items have since broken. I called the store once; they said either bring them back or UPS them back for a refund. I opted to UPS. But before doing so I called their toll free customer service number on 2 separate occasions to finalize the details of the return and was told both times simply return for refund. I did…well today I got a voice mail telling me that because it has been more than 45 days they couldn’t take the items back, they refunded my 2 year warranties and said they sent the items back to me today.
Don’t waste your money here on gear or for their 2 year warranties, they don’t actually honor them. I was told to contact a company called Ascerion (a secondary warranty company) for repair at my expense!! Bottom line I don’t think the items are fixable and I’m stuck with 2 very large paper weights.
You’re probably better off dealing with Seminole Music or another local store depending on which side of the Bay you live on.
4. Target
Address: 13658 University Plaza St, Tampa, FL 33613 , University , Florida , United States
Always a pleasure. Clean, breathable, never too crowded. Has recycling.
Fast service
This is located at a busy yet convenient corner. There is plenty of parking here. The store was neat and clean. They had everything I would expect at a Target store.
This is a good Target chain store. It is nice they are right by USF. Students and local people like to shop here. It seems fairly clean and safe during the pandemic. Their prices are reasonable and staff are helpful when needed.
Its a target
Horrible horrible horrible management. Constantly see them harassing the workers in self-checkout about how they aren’t being engaging enough but they’re doing a fantastic job. They expect there workers to breath down their necks or something. People go to self checkout for a reason.
To be left alone. And they don’t even let their workers carry water with them or leave to get water when they need it. Doesn’t that sound kind of illegal?
This Target is located near USF in a pretty sketchy location. Shelves are often empty and the store is very messy at all times. I highly suggest that you visit a different location if possible and avoid this particular store.
Filthiest bathrooms. (Mens)
5. Sam Ash Music Stores
Address: 4644 E Colonial Dr, Orlando, FL 32803 , University , Florida , United States
Best prices for great equipment. Also, very knowledgeable staff and great musical instructors.
I’ve been buying guitars for my son at this location for 10 years and I’ve always received excellent customer service. This past week has exceeded customer expectations. Ron Cook, helping me pick out the best guitar for my son, James aka Zach with lessons and Ricky for his genuine demeanor in taking the time out to speak with my son and adjust his guitar. Great staff. Thanks Brooks for a great staff!
Austin was very nice, patient, and respond all my questions, thanks for everything.
This is an update. I have called several times for unrelated inquiries and the phone experience is terrible. They must be just understaffed. I explained to the last rep I had been on hold for the ladt call so ling, I just hung up. “Sorry about” and placed me hold again.
I had a software issue with a program I actually bought on line some time ago. I called and asked if I could speak with a manager because I realize they had no obligation to help me. Omar came to the phone, he was polite and professional and helped me configure an older product to work with my new equipment. Really went overboard to get it done. I see the 1 stars on here, but for me the service was 5 stars. Thanks so much for the help. Price was fair.
I have bought several guitars from the Sam Ash on Colonial Drive in Orlando Florida. I have been buying there for at least 20 years. They are always very nice and helpful. I have bought a LesPaul and a Clapton Strat (Blackie) there new , right off the rack and they have been awsome.I used their layaway system obtaining both of those.I just bought a used Schecter Hellraiser Hybrid from them , i got it for 750 which is half the price of a new model of this particular guitar .it is flawless all around a great music store very nice staff. If your on a budget you cant beat their layaway.
The customer service was great.
The only thing I have against them was, if you were going to buy a Gibson great, but if you wanted any other brand of guitar your options were very limited.
very bad attitude of a seller, everything I asked him for some thing he answer with a bad attitude Worse is, how your own race treats you badly, He is Hispanic definitely I do not recommend this store
Very poor talking service. So rude never go back.
The worst music store ever! I went to sell a horn and a guitar and I thought I walked into a zombie room. Besides me, there was only one customer in this massive store. The guitar guy his name is rocky was the worst. No customer service skills, no enthusiasm and definitely a zombie. Rather than looking at the guitar, he just quotes a ridiculously low amount for my guitar off the top of his head. No customer service skills whatsoever. The kid in the brass section had no clue what to do and didn’t know anything about brass instruments. No one available to help with assessing the horn even though I was told on the Phone to come in. Waste of time, gas
6. Guitar Center Gainesville
Address: 3210 SW 35th Blvd #203, Gainesville, FL 32608 , University , Florida , United States
I like when I can go into a store and find people who knows their job and this place is it. They were out of stock of the stings I like. Just from a description, they turn me on to a better set of strings. Who knew. I go there quite often now.
Very helpful staff. Great experience over-all!
Not at all what it used to be. The only redeeming was quality was the very kind and helpful lady that helped me check out. The selection was scarce, although I understand that may be due to Covid-19, but it has been less for a while before the pandemic. Aside from the less than adequate greeting I received, due only to the Covid-19 pandemic requirements of them having a greeter, no one asked me if I needed help, and it’s been this way the last 3 times I’ve been there. From now on Ill just deal with the drive to Sam Ash in Orange Park.
Great store for all musicians. Knowledgeable staff can head you to the right equipment. Only downfall is parking in this busy strip mall.
Called to see if they carried my brand and gauge of strings. He checked stock and had one pack of them left and offered to pull them from inventory and put them by the register till I got there which I thought was pretty cool. When I got there to purchase staff was friendly and helpful
They put you on hold, hang up. SMH. They lose deposits send you to this person, that person ect.
This place has really gone down. I would rather drive to Ocala then to come to this store. It used to be a time when they would greet you when u come into the store, ask you of they could help but now it is absolutely ridiculous. Yes, I understand being short staffed heck I’m short staffed but I don’t disregard my clients. Customer service is important but I guess not for guitar center. More than likely I won’t be coming back here I would rather travel or go online.
Had to give it this rating due to the fact that they have over three and a half million dollars worth of guitars and other equipment in the store but do not have one single set of pickups for America’s most common base to Fender P Bass the only option they did have was extremely overpriced and didn’t come with all the parts
7. Guitar Center
Address: 3165 US Hwy 98 N, Lakeland, FL 33805 , University , Florida , United States
WOW ,Customer at it’s best, I have been in retail for over 40 years ,my wife and I went to buy a guitar and amp, looking for quality at a good price, the young man that helped us
( Christopler Brickman) was great to deal with and gave us lots of options in our price range, I like it when you go to a large store and the person that waits on you really cares like he owns the store,we will be back again, Thanks Ron & Theresa
Amazing and beautiful
Love love love this guitar center there service is EXCELLENT SERVICE kind polite and helping
It was a good experience got everything we needed.
We didn’t get what we wanted and the prices are way too high.
Although I am not a major fan of chain stores, I have to hand it to the store in Lakeland. The staff are knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. When a customer walks in the door, they are greeted and the sales people will ask if they need help. If a person does need help the staff will do their best to assist. Furthermore if they do not have a part, they will order it of make suggestions. When they order something they ensure it gets to Lakeland quickly and inexpensively. their line of used merchandise is in good shape and There are some good deals to be found.
Don’t let the chain store dissuade you from going in. Great job folks!
I was ignored when I came in, was treated poorly, and talked down to by Eddie when I tried to trade in my excellent condition piano. This Guitar Center needs some serious improvements, new leadership, and customer service. I will not be back here!
Poor customer service! Staff is not coordinated and don’t know much about their products!
The check out clerk kept moving from one register to another to avoid checking us out. Each time we had to move, we ended up in the end of the line. Perhaps because I was white and my boyfriend was black? We actually wanted to spend an additional $200 there. But once we saw what was going on, we left.
8. Guitar Center
Address: 520 N Orlando Ave Suite 130, Winter Park, FL 32789 , University , Florida , United States
Holden set up my Guitar with very little input from me because i do not know anything, I have not been playing that long. He did a awesome job.
I would highly recommend and I am taking another Guitar there pronto.
Great Job Holden.
This is one of the few remaining “big box” stores, filled with music equipment of every kind. Basically a musical paradise!
Great service
Good times.
Great deal
Great selection and nice people but they are so busy. The place is always swamped and the staff does the best they can.
Better than their local big box music store competition.
I do not recommend this place.
We just received a very bad service from an employee at the register. We were there and my husband had a question and this guy just mistreated my husband and said that he was not going to provide the service to us. We felt this was just a racism act. He is a white guy with red hair.
I recommend the manager to verify the type of employee they have because if not they will continue to lose good and serious customers.
Great inventory but really poor customer service.
Typical big box music store. If you want to get waited on you need to be aggressive. Otherwise the staff tends to ignore you. This is most likely due to the amount of young kids only interested in playing the guitars on display and have no intention of spending any $. I did, however, have a good experience with the guitar tech. He knew his craft and set up the used guitar I purchased while I waited.
9. Hoggtowne Music
Address: at Thornebrook Village Shopping Center, 2441 NW 43rd St STE 26B, Gainesville, FL 32606 , University , Florida , United States
Genuine old school locally owned music store. Great selection of Guitars, amps, ukuleles, accessories etc. Has a great new selection of Martin Guitars. Lovely folks.
They’re always friendly and helpful. They seem to specialize in ukuleles. There is a huge selection.
I am so glad I found Hoggtowne Music store! I accidentally knocked the sound post loose on a new violin when trying to re-string it and they were the only music store in Gainesville who said they could help when I called. I brought it to them the next morning and they fixed it up AND restrung the violin right then and there for me! Everyone who works there was extremely polite and friendly and I was seriously impressed by their inventory. I am a new permanent customer to Hoggtowne anytime I need anything music related and I recommend it to everyone.
I had an extremely frustrating experience with this shop. They did have a nice selection of Martins at reasonable prices and seemed like a decent shop otherwise.
I wouldn’t use them to have your guitar repaired. They charged me more then the usual and it came back buzzing all over.
Continues to charge me for a flute that has been paid off
Overpriced!!

11. School of Music
Address: Gainesville, FL 32603 , University , Florida , United States
Music Junction is the only place I will go anymore for any kind of instrument need or questions. The owner is extremely nice and helpful. Very knowledgeable people. They have repaired several instruments of mine, guitar, banjo, violin, resonator guitars and mandolins. I have used other places in Alachua County and the surrounding area. No one even comes close to the work they do. They can make something look like it was never broken. I have also taken lessons with them. Very nice pace and instructions, I learned a lot and now play with a band. Best music store around, period.
They have a wonderful, laid back, friendly atmosphere. Some of the music teachers can often be found in the main store room jamin’ together. This is a great place to learn to play a musical instrument.
I am enjoying my mandolin lessons very much. Gene and leon are great.
They checked out my musical instruments for me, and told me yes they would make nice gifts for my grandchildren I was really appreciative.
thank you, Music Junction.
I got a great like-new guitar here, and I love it! I asked for a certain feel and playability, in a certain (low) price range, and they found me the perfect one! They even fixed it up for me (usually a paid service) for free. The owner and employees are really nice, and the store has a family atmosphere. I do wish they had more selection of items, but they will order pretty much anything you want, so that makes up for it.
Overpriced, poor selection, and very poor service (an employee was ridiculously patronizing to my friend’s teenaged son). Several acquaintances have voiced similar experiences. I will never go back.
I never thought I’ll get such a horrible service and attitude. Would never step into this shop and certainly discourage anyone from visiting it.
Lack of professionalism and client orientation.
Driven by money and greed.
Overprice and not professional work. That’s what I experienced, and I learned my lesson to trust my guts when, in the beginning of the discussion about the work that should be done, I heard the comment. I asked to defret my bass and asked how much it would cost. The answer was 150$ ( another place I asked $80-90, but I could not do it immediately. Also, the location was less convenient for me), Leon asked $150 for defreting , because he will have to remove the string !!!! Of course, you have to remove strings. It’s part of the job. When I checked the bass, which I just got while checking it at Leon’s shop, I realized that I also have to change the electronics and pickups. I asked Leon if he could do all the jobs before November 1 because this is when I’m flying and need the bass way way before that. He agreed.
I gave him a bass on Sept 5th. I got electronics a month later on Oct 3rd. Nothing was done by that time. The bass was just lying there.
When we were discussing defretting, he said he would refill the empty frets groves with wood and asked me what I want dark or light wood. I asked for dark. In the end, he felt it with an epoxy and did a sloppy job. Part of the frets aren’t filled with epoxy.
Electronic weren’t salder properly and when I explained what the problem was and asked him to resolved it he replied that he spend already so much time on my bass and can’t fix it immediately and I have to wait until the middle of next week, knowing that I’m flying in the begging of the week and can’t pick it up because of my work. On top of that, the setup of the bass was horrible. The action was at maxim height it can be. When I mentioned that, he replied that he didn’t want the string to touch the fretboard !!! What kind of noncensence? On top of that, he accused me of being dishonest with him about the date I need my bass. I still don’t understand how.
I paid him in full what he asked me when we had a deal, fulfilling my part of the deal. I paid $380, and he reminded me that it was $390( which I forgot) .
I was so frastreted and didn’t want to deal with this greedy man.
Until the end, I was keeping hope in my heart that he at least would ask to pardon him and reduce the price, but there was no sorry, let’s fix it or something. He doesn’t care.

quality shop, rob is super friendly, great selection! support your local music shop!
Great environment and very friendly staff. The owner is very nice, and helpful. They get you engaged and excited about learning to play music and they actually knows a lot which is really really important. My boyfriend is taking lessons with Joel and is very happy with his decision of starting drums classes.
Best little shop! Rob is a true gentleman and very helpful. Highly recommended!
Replaced strings of my daughter’s guitar. Did not tune at all. Poor communication. Was on the phone while checking me out and had difficulty asking / answering questions. Stated would clean up guitar that had been in storage but wasn’t touched. Took several days to replace strings. Would not go here again. Poor service
14. FS Music
Address: 430 NE 3rd St, Crystal River, FL 34429 , University , Florida , United States
Admittedly small selection of instruments at this location, but for Citrus County resident musicians, not having to drive out of the county to get last minute music supplies like straps, strings, and pics, it’s a God-send to have them here! The woman who owns the store is very knowledgeable with her inventory and personable with her customers. I’ve purchased one guitar there, a ukulele, and countless little add ons. The prices are reasonable and I’ve never had anything but positive experiences at this establishment.

I just called to get information on music lessons for our three daughters. I was asking about piano and guitar lessons. It was very muffled sounding when he was speaking. I said I’m sorry I didn’t understand what you said. I understood that they don’t do a monthly payment but I asked him to repeat how it is that they charge for lessons. He told me maybe he would take the Spanish version off so I could understand English. My jaw dropped! I politely and shocked said I’m sorry it’s muffled I can barely hear you. He said maybe it is just how I talk in a super rude. I said okie dokie thank you very much. I’m still shocked. What is seriously wrong with people these days.
Took my deceased father’s guitar here for some repairs never received any notification that it was finished when I showed up to figure out what was going on I was informed that they had sold it for the price of the repair so I lost one of the last things I had of my father’s for about $60.. the only thing they offered was 10% off one of their new guitars which to me was a slap in the face
$150 for a used Boss BD-2 Blues Driver here, $120 brand new elsewhere. Also asked us to take our phones out and review before giving our items that were purchased multiple times.

Small but nice and attentive. They need shop space and lesson space.
i went here and I can’t quite remember his name, although he has colored hair, and is around 5’7-8 they were very helpful, allowed me to play, and was quick and efficient with everything. Super friendly, they’re very good at guitar, and they’re very attractive. If he sees this pls email me
It was my first time I’ve been there and I was really impressed! They have a huge selection, the staff was really friendly and knowledgeable and the prices have been really good. All in all I had a great experience and my son a new keyboard! I will be back.
Decent. Nice place to get guitars or to jam with other people.
Good customer service. There is a large selection of guitars and accessories, as well as percussion and keyboards. The store was rather loud, with many people playing random instruments throughout. We were hoping for a selection of violins but there weren’t any when we were there.
Knowledgeable people.
This will be my 1st guitar purchase and I was pretty excited to check out the Acoustic Electric stock. Went in Tuesday afternoon and looked around for 30 minutes. Not one rep approached me or asked if I needed assistance. Went to register area and wasn’t even acknowledged. Didn’t seem overly busy and there were certainly reps walking around the floor. Maybe just a bad day, not sure. Perhaps I will give them 1 more shot.
It takes forever to check out. They make you wear a mask, but not wash your hands. You are there to test/play an instrument…. with your hands. How embarrassing stupid that is… It is a pleasure to spend my money at other online retailers and not at your store.
I honestly don’t like the option to favor this store one star. I’ve been here several times, mostly to pick up something not worth shipping. Recently, I decided to pick up a mic stand and a few more miscellaneous things, but to also offer the chance to possibly sale something, or offer something valuable. Well, neither of those happened, rather, I’m offered products that are vastly inflated, and you almost have to pry the ‘REAL’ sales items from the associates. That is more or less annoying when you KNOW current market value for the products they sale and ask them for items you know is bundles, discounted, ect. Had a similar situation like this happen back in 2008, where I phone ordered a studio package BY NAME, all to get some mixdown with an audio interface that still NEEDED PHANTOM POWER!!!! All and all, I purchased a few items after battling with the sales rep about knowledge of cheaper variants (mic stands, snakes, these base level fairly cheap type products). This was a horrible shopping experience and I’ll stick to the handy internet when I want to do more shopping. In comparison to the online marketplace, Guitar Center is just a household name. A rather outdated household name.

Fine special. That can’t find in other places.
Highly recommended.

Wonderful location for hosting a large gathering, such as a venue to celebrate a graduation or anniversary.
The main room is very large and airy, with great lighting along a wavy accent wall. The room size lends itself well to acoustics, as a dj with modest sized speakers would be sufficient for music.
The location also allows you to use the various displays featured throughout the building. The main ballroom has two projectors, while TVs are placed throughout the building.
I performed a catering for the Deltas venue is beautiful and easy to work and very accommodating
Melanie is awesome
I’ve been SLEEPING on this University. Attended a Juneteeth celebration. I’m sure you can rent out space here. Beautiful campus.

Always great service for me. But they should stop using UPS. Ups lost one of my speakers I ordered from Guitar Center in Texas. It finally showed up 5 days later. This is the 4th or 5th time I have problems with UPS. Guitar Center rocks. UPS? Not so much.
I went to Guitar Center hoping to purchase my next guitar, and by no means did I leave disappointed. After informing the staff about what I was looking for, I sat down next to an AC30 and started playing as they kept bringing new variations of the Les Paul Studio to me. After trying out five or six different models, I decided on a beautiful brown faded mahogany Les Paul, and got some great help from Mario, perhaps the greatest multitasker I’ve encountered. I got the guitar for a more than reasonable price, and I actually got Mario’s fascinating life story to go with it. Great shop, positive and helpful staff. Just don’t go in a taxi from South Beach in rush hour. 😉
Great staff but the place has gone down hill in recent years. Looks messy and shabby.
It’s a good shop for buying instruments like guitars, basses, pianos, drums of differents brands, but for buying pedals, effects, accessories it is not so good, because there is not a variety which you can choice. Also there is not a catalogue where you can check all products.
Great store and staff but usually understaffed. Hire a few more guys-or girls.
Muy pocas opciones en cuanto a libros de piano u otras opciones en temas muy solicitados para Estudiantes. No FUE muy agradable pues e ter u salí y … ( mario dijo mi Desea Aldo Sra?
Ordered a used instrument online. Admittedly, it was a more expensive version listed as a cheaper version. Two days after I placed the order, it was cancelled. I called the store and rather than owning up to their mistake of listing it as a cheaper version and cancelling it to sell it higher, they said it sold in store before it hit their que from where I purchased it online. Not particularly from this store, but this is not the first time this exact same scenario has happened within Guitar Center. It’s dishonest.
Mala experiencia un empleado no me quiere atender y atiende a todos antes

for a modest price and a quick turnaround roy took an Epiphone acoustic/electric ive had for 30 yrs that was always a pain to play and made it AMAZEBALLS
now i cant put it down!
this place is beyond legit – its awesome
Very knowledgeable. Owner is super nice guy. Drops everything to solve whatever problems I’ve brought in to him. Turnaround on repairs is lightning fast. Only guy on the treasure coast I trust to work on my basses.
Came in and walked out with a guitar and an amp. Great little spot. Roy was very helpful. Hes got a collection of entry level instruments, used instruments, and big name brand instruments. He’s also got a backroom where he does guitar work and setups. Definitely recommended. I plan to keep coming back in here to see what new gear he’s got!
