One of the most knowledgeable stores in the area. If you have a question about anything music related these guys know the answer or know who to refer you to in town. You guys rock!
Went looking for guitar strings and found a cool shop. These guys are nice and knowledgeable and prices are low. Will make it a regular stop!
These people are awesome extremely helpful. I’ve never seen a music shop that sells local bands merchandise and are supportive of the local music scene as well.
Great help and service. Instruments were priced Right and in great condition for being used.
Knowledgable, sincere staff who are working diligently to provide an alternative to the big box stores. They have a ways to go, but headed in the next direction.
Good shop. Needs more stuff.
Stood there for almost 20 minutes waiting for the staff to get off of their “smoke break”. Then ignored for another 20. Then blown off for an additional 40 minutes.
Won’t be doing business there again.
I dropped off my amp to get the boost and reverb fixed in August 2019. Over a year later and I still don’t have my amp. I’ve stopped by several times and tried to help find the parts needed. They won’t answer or return my calls so stopping by is the only way to check in. It’s been perpetually “a couple weeks” away from being done for a year. Unbelievably bad service. Never ever rely on them for amp repair.
Talented man with music skills. Awful business techniques.
Great shop for new and vintage gear, plus amp and instrument repair
EXCELLENT! Great people!
Doyle knows his stuff. From building pedals to repairing amps to building guitars. This guy does it all.
Used stuff !! Cheap…
Daryl sold the business to new owners and they are not very knowledgeable about guitar repairs or timely about getting back to you. I had to take my guitar repairs to somewhere else to get it done right. But being a local shop, they are still better than a chain store in many ways.
Multiple trips back for guitar work done improperly. Disappointment city. Find a luthier.
Found the place to be a mix of junk and overpriced items. Might be the only local music shop in town, but it won’t be getting my money, given the owner’s criminal history, not a great place for kids.
This business discriminates against people with medical conditions.

I would definitely go here again. I had to be at a concert in 2 hours and I was missing a couple pads and a screw so I was freaking out and they fixed my alto saxophone free of charge! The man fixing it was very kind and patient and was able to fix everything in 15 minutes.
Lanny is so knowledgeable and patient. I’d recommend this store to anyone. The shop is so clean and well-kept too.
I purchased my baby grand here months ago. Loving it. Love the help.. and all the music we need for festivals and lessons
General music store. Several Baby Grand pianos, a limited number of guitar brands, sheet music, and a few accessories.
Not as helpful as I’d hoped. Purchased a guitar somewhere else.
It apparently takes them 3 days just to put on 4 strings on a violin. Cool and pretty stuff just I think their taking their own time.
RENTER BEWARE! Insurance on rented instruments does not cover accidental damage. You are better off going to Dunkley and renting – their insurance DOES cover accidental damage. We found out the hard way and were first told that the insurance would cover the damage, then told it would not, and we were treated very rudely by the old guy who works there – I don’t think he can have a conversation without interrupting.
Rented a cello. The gave me student cello. Didn’t want to add note stickers on but gave me a pack for 8.00. This was the worst instrument I have ever seen. It could not be tuned. And the sound was pretty bad. I took it back in 3 days asked for a refund to which I received a prompt NO. Then I said to the man at the counter if you give this cello to a kid it’s going to turn him or her off to playing it. I imagined he would say I will take a look at it. But instead he came out swinging and proceeded to tell me off. I felt upset and hurt somewhat when I left. Went to Dunkley music they have better instruments and kinder people working there. They offered to add the stickers on without me asking. That was an easy 70.00 for Welch!
I called them to replace the hair bow of my violin and the strings they said they can do it. When I visited them they Saud they can’t replace the hair bow but only the strings so I had to to another music shop.
I first communicated with Nick with regards to a guitar he had for sale via Reverb and I really liked his thoughts and ideas so I ended up placing my first ever custom ordered guitar with him. Nick sells Larrivee’s and he helped me put together a custom dreadnought that did not break the bank but met all my needs and more. The wait was long (as expected) but I ended up with a dream guitar that is astounding value and it play and sounds beautifully. Working with Nick was a great experience and I will not hesitate to contact him again when it comes to ordering and/or buying a quality instrument.

I was looking for a Larrivee P-09 and I came across the Tune Up Guitars add on Reverb. I contact Nick directly and because we live close by, I had the pleasure to meet him in person and we spent some time chatting about guitars. Nick is a great guy you can really tell that he loves what is doing. The Larrivee I got from him is beautiful and off course sounds great. Next time I need a guitar Nick will be my first choice. I definitely recommend Tune Up Guitars to anyone is looking to buy a guitar.
A great product with a great price, plus some great service on top. Superb in every way, have no doubts about doing more business in the future!

They fixed my daughter’s guitar super fast and we’re SO knowledgeable and had all the supplies you could ever ask for!
So much choice! Like a coffee shop of flavor indecision but with music gear. What a audible-y delicious problem to enjoy. They went the extra mile to help me decide and sort out a chromatic tuner purchase.
Went in last week. The gentleman behind the counter (can’t recall his name) greeted me immediately even though he was helping another customer. I was in the drum section. He came over and turned on the Roland set on display. He then gave his professional opinion on an item I was interested in. Very nice experience all around. Compare that to the “other” big musical instrument store: no greeting at all. Was in the drum area for at least 20 minutes. No one came to ask if I needed help. I was finally “greeted” as I walked out the door. And the store in general was dirty.
I used to work there
Staff was not very knowledgeable when it came to anything electric guitar related but had a good selection and decent pricing
The staff in general are knowledgeable and friendly. I took a guitar in to get repaired and serviced. Their “guitar guy” would rather do things his way and not what the customer wants. We asked to not have the strings cut after replacing them, and he would not comply with our wishes. He stated that he cuts all the strings so fast it would “make our head spin”, then related some story about the USAF bicycling team, and when he serviced their bikes he didn’t pay any particular attention to their special requests. How that related to servicing a guitar, I’m not sure. I took it to mean that he would do the service, but his way with no regard to what any special request were. He did however replace a broken tuning know and didn’t charge us. We took the guitar in for a broken tuning knob, but somehow there were 2 broken knobs. They are OK, just don’t have any special requests.
Worst customer service ever. Walked past all the employees I said hi to each one and none of them have any kind of response. If they only knew I had 2k cash in my pocket and was planning on buying a couple guitars and equipment. Off to the next place where I know they will ignolage my existence
Watch out for the tree in the parking lot that has been cut on. It leaves dents in vehicles.
It’s really disappointing that the repair techs at this music store think it is alright to tell a student they are holding an instrument wrong when the student studies privately. The information was COMPLETELY WRONG. STICK TO WHAT YOU KNOW–REPAIRING THE INSTRUMENT.

Ive been playign for 8 years, but i dont know how to fix up a guitar, so i go here and get the best service ever! The technician polished my guitar and everything when i went in to get it restrung! This place is awesome
Have everything!
Great sales
I would call it the standard experience. I came in to get a new set of strings for my accoustic and some guitar picks. I left with exactly what I came for. Thanks guys!
Great deals knowledgeable staff fun place to just go jam. I went in here looking for a locking nut for my Jackson soloist, and even though they didn’t have one on hand they ordered it right away. Love this store and it’s staff.
Good service, but tight quarters. And the guy helping me kept getting uncomfortably close and smelled horrible
I knew I shouldn’t have come here.
The store manager was extremely and unnecessarily rude about the mask. I understand the guidelines from the store but because of the attitude over the mask I will never spend money in this store. I will go somewhere were they value their costumers.
2 weeks and they couldn’t find time to restring my guitar.

The woman who helped us out was very friendly. Answered all our questions . Overall great experience
There are some great people running this store! I felt very welcome when I visited. In addition, the instrument repair techs here have a high level of skill and are doing some really fantastic work.
Love having all the clarinet accessories and music ready to go, Cindi is always very helpful!
I have bought a Kawai CN25 from Marion in a total of sale price of 600 plus 13 month renting period. Ends up with about 1645 U.S dollar. I am really happy with what I’ve purchased. And Marion is very nice on settling the deals with me.
It’s alright. If you’re looking for Orchestra stuff I would recommend Telford and Sons.
I enjoy DM very much. It’s so much fun to look around to see all the instruments they have in-store. They had the gift I was looking for (and then some). Someday, I’ll take those violin lessons. For now, I’m saving up to get myself that keyboard bench.
The Dunkley’s have failed. Mark Dunkley has shown his true colors as a man that does not care about Boise, his Neighbors, and open space in Boise. I encourage all to patronise Welch Music.
He(they), sold out for money. Typical.
Pooor customer service , employees standing around and acted like we were bothering them to serve us
The Nampa location is great. Helpful, knowledgeable, experienced. I brought in a violin i bought, and wanted it checked out. So it was sent to their luthier, a fella called “Rand”. This dude needs social interaction lessons. What a rude, short tempered jackal. If you like being talked to in a demeaning and belittling way, have your string instrument looked at by “Rand”. If you like normal, socially accepted treatment, avoid Dunkley or, more precisely, Rand.
