Great guys with great selection of gear. Very helpful too.
Best place in Denver to look for effects devices.
I bought a Reverend guitar at Flipside and the service and knowledge was fantastic. Ike and Dylan are the guys you want to talk to if you’re buying music gear. Make it a regular stop to see what unique things they’ve got in stock.
Best service in this category
Great place
Pretty good store with decent prices
Overly expensive and also lots of homeless people hanging outside on the street near by. It’s a dump.
Great place with great prices. The guys there know their gear and will go out of their way to help you. Highly recommend
Awesome Prices. Awesome Staff.
Always a good experience selling and buying!
Have a good selection of musical equipment. Some new and some used. Deals can be had, prices are very fair. They buy used equipment and offer a fair price. Call to make sure items offered on website are still available before drive to location as items tend to move fast.
I just stopped in but very nice place.
Came in with 2 guitars and they offered 60% below market price as opposed to the 30% that’s standard. Kid behind the front desk refused to let me ask his supervisor why the extra low bids, refused to give me a price over the phone so they wasted 40mins of my time.
Place is good but service is terrible try any other music store
Called up gravity on the phone to see if it was worth my time to drive out. They wouldn’t give me an offer over the phone but said I wouldn’t be disappointed.
Loaded everything up my in car and they quoted me about 25% of what everything was worth. Huge waste of time. Probably easy cash if you don’t know what your stuff is worth. Offered pennies for my brand new moog grandmother.
The staff is friendly and able to help with everything that we needed. Staff is very knowledgeable. I have been a patron of Music and Arts since I was a child and now I use them for my children’s band needs.
We bought a like new clarinet for high school. Reasonable prices and great customer service.
Was able to buy a great violin
I am a music teacher. This is my go to for lesson books for my students.
Organized and clean nice staff they don’t buy instruments
Horrible, horrible experience. Over charged and refused to refund. Then said the only way to resolve the issue was to return the students instrument in the middle of the school year and find a different rental. If it was possible I’d give negative stars.
Terrible company. They told me the flute I was renting to buy was worth $1,200 and after 43 months of payments, I realize that I overpaid for the instrument bc it’s actually worth $700. They did the same with the clarinet I rented for my other child. They said it was worth $1,200 when it was only worth $640. I wonder if this is customer policy to exaggerate the price of the instrument and get customers to overpay. Oh and by the way, even if customers pay tons of money, they can NEVER trade the instrument in for a new instrument. It can only be used instruments. I should have simply purchased a new instrument elsewhere and paid for insurance in case it got lost.
Walked in, no hello, no what can I help you with. Walk over to case where violins are which is right in front of the 2 men and I guess I must have been a ghost because I wasn’t acknowledged. So not even going to waste my time.
Awesome experience doing business with them. Great service and extremely helpful and knowledgeable.
Great selection of NOS tubes. Also, great service and knowledgeable staff.
Good source for hard to find tubes.
No response from their customer support for various questions. Website boasts shipping product within 24 hours, but I still have an order unfulfilled after 5 days. They charged me and took payment within a day, though. This company or website may be a scam. There is no phone number or address listed, and all contact is via text or email.
Update: they answered email inquiry regarding order and upgraded one of the tubes to make up for the delay & lack of response. Which was a nice gesture. (All prior questions remain unanswered – which was about product I was intending to buy, and now most likely won’t buy from them)
Within the same day I had a fraudulent charge made on my credit card for a large amount at Amazon – which I have not ordered from for over 3 months.
Security on Fuzz Audio’s website may be compromised, or perhaps one of their employees isn’t trustworthy. I would be wary of ordering from this company.
It’s been 5 business days and many order hasn’t shipped
I messaged Fuzz Audio before placing the order as I was particular about the condition of the tubes. I wanted to have legitimate new old stock condition tubes. I wanted to spend the extra money to get clean working tubes and not have the hassle of trying to piece together all of them individually for my Deluxe Reverb. The order initially took over a week to ship out and then when the tubes arrived they were in less than “NOS” condition and the 12AT7s RCA blackplates I had requested were substituted with RCA 6201s. Not a big deal but it would have been nice to have let me know beforehand. Besides this the tubes all looked used, I got that they are old but these had noticeable wear on the glass and pins. Their were issues with microphonics, logos worn and no original boxes. Were these tubes even tested? It was a big let down. I messaged Fuzz Audio Support and after a week or so they said I could send back the tubes I didn’t want and get a replacement. I sent back a microphonic RCA 12AX7 and worn out RCA 6V6. He sent me a message and let me pick out which replacement I wanted. Which was great but then the wrong tube arrived and after he messaged me saying the one I picked had been sold. He then let me know he would message me again when he got more tubes in but then never replied to my response so I decided to just leave it alone. Now I’ve been having issues with my reverb and tremolo so I took it to a shop to be looked at and what would you know I’ve got two tubes testing low. I’m not hard on my amps and this one’s been used rarely the past 6 months. Luckily the tubes should still be covered under warranty. So I sent an email to Fuzz Audio Support letting them know the issues and no response. I re-sent the email again a week later and still nothing.
Bottom line: There is a big difference between “Tests” NOS and NOS tubes and I’m extremely doubtful these tubes are truly NOS. I’ve had multiple fail in less than 6 months, issues with microphonics, terrible customer service and attention to detail, and impressively slow shipping. Save your money and look elsewhere.
10. Monkton Guitars
Address: 1505 W 1st Ave A, Broomfield, CO 80020 , Adams County , Colorado , United States
This is a great shop with some serious merchandise. The staff were both cool and knowledgeable. Shout out to David for the banjo strings
Monkton Guitars recently did a bit of work on a couple of my guitars. Their tech did an excellent job for a great price, and the owner was super knowledgeable and friendly. I have visited several guitar shops in Broomfield/Denver over the years and think I have a new favorite. Thanks Dave! I’ll definitely be back.
Highly recommend the good folks at Monkton Guitars for repairs and a well-curated stock of instruments. Julien has done a bit of routing and other precision luthiery work on a few electric basses and he has been excellent to work with–good work, great communication, very helpful and professional
Best shop around!
great place to try and buy, they know their stuff and are super nice and willing to help you find what you’re looking for. they have great recommendations and will let you play whatever for however long. very cheap for repairs and guitar work, much cheaper than other places. got my frets leveled/crowned and it sounds fantastic, however they did kind of gauge/scratch the neck on several frets. sucks, but not a huge deal as it’s not a high end guitar and the price was right ($60). again, sounds great but i would be weary of bringing a higher end model in as they weren’t very careful about taping off the neck to avoid cosmetic damage.
do not take your guitars here for repair! simple jobs will end up being 2 hours in labor charges. they will take your working guitar and send you home with a non-working guitar. they will mix up the wiring on the pots. they will give you pots too large so your knobs have a huge gap underneath. unbelievably unprofessional and incapable.
EDIT: The business response is not a fair respresentation. First guitar, volume pots wired backwards. Second guitar, repair only lasted the car ride home. Second fix only lasted the next car ride home. Third fix, incorrect tone mapping and too large of pots. Every single trip a problem. Why would I go back?
11. Colfax Guitar Shop
Address: 3220 E Colfax Ave, Denver, CO 80206 , Adams County , Colorado , United States
This is the guitar shop that we all envision when we think of a “guitar shop.” Best guitar set up in town, bar none. The owner is super approachable and knowledgeable. There are just enough guitars adorning the walls to noodle on and the environment is pretty relaxed. If there was a guitar shop on Sesame Street, this would be it. Support your local pickers; buy your strings and gear here.
Love these guys. They’ve taken care of my guitars for years now, and I couldn’t be happier with their work each and every time.
I popped in to buy a capacitor for a bass I was building at the time. The employees at Colfax Guitar shop are all helpful, but there was one luthier in particular (I didn’t get his name) that talked with me about my bass build for several minutes and with LOTS of helpful information. In the end, I walked out with a $2 capacitor and a ton of knowledge.
Great customer experience. Very pleased with my guitar setup. Price was reasonable.
Amicable and friendly staff. Dave and Christian are always helpful and their quality of service is top notch. If you need your guitar set up or repaired, definitely stop here first.
Not much inventory, mostly a place that fixes guitars
I brought in a guitar with a Floyd rose tremolo system. The guy at Colfax guitar shop said it was a quick fix setup and would take a week. All this a side, I come in in a week as promised and the guitar at the time appeared to have been set up wonderfully. I even presented a tip to the guy because I was very grateful for the work he did. He asked if I was “sure” that I would tip him and I said “absolutely”. When I got home with the guitar I noticed some things. For one the locking mechanisms on the nut were all crooked. Two days later the high E string snapped. Now a month later some of the strings are buzzing again and some of the notes on the second octave don’t bend or even ring. Now I’m a nice respectable guy and I don’t mean Ill will against them, but if I pay close to a hundred dollars(and I am low income) for someone to adjust the truss rod, restring and in my opinion do just minor work, I expect a certain level of quality. They are great guys and all but next time I think I’ll take my business elsewhere.
Thanks
Reached out to these folks based on other reviews that seemed like they could help me. Sent a message explaining and right away had said that I live over an hour away so I was trying to gauge if they could help since just walking in isn’t as easily done. Answer was “bring it in” exactly what I said was the challenge.
Probably would still go 3 stars but I point out “hey, right away said that was an issue… suppose I got my answer though” and just was a thumbs up emoji reply… So the combo of didn’t help and okay knowing they didn’t help really isn’t even a 3 in my book.
I thought this was an industry like skateshops where you were supposed to support the local/small one off guys? Realize I was presenting a challenge but hard to support independent shops if they kinda just don’t want to be bothered with your business…. No drama, apologized for “slow” reply but thought it was quite reasonable actually. Think just ultimately not the shop if you need someone to help hash out info before coming in.
Over charged for strings 30$ a pack 20$ for a capo horribly over priced would not suggest it.maybe they make custom made guitars not sure.
12. The Denver Folklore Center
Address: 1893 S Pearl St, Denver, CO 80210 , Adams County , Colorado , United States
Fast, friendly, and knowledgable staff! Cool store!
I like this place a lot. Take instruments for evaluation. Very knowledgeable. Nice people too.
Very knowledgable and clearly love and are passionate about guitars. I don’t have enough good things to say about this business, and highly recommend them for any of your instrument needs.
Cool store with quality guitars and friendly employees.
Knowledgeable staff, great selection
This is a Great place for musical needs, instruments(Guitars,Ukeleles, Banjos) as well as Harmonicas are just some of the instruments that you will find. They offer services such as instrument repair, and lessons as well! Variety of books included.
This Music Store has been opened since 1962! Definitely one of Denver’s Gems! Lots of history about this place! Swallow Hill was located right across the street! (Back In The Day! The 60’s, 70’s and I believe the 80’s as well!)
With restaurants and breweries surrounding it’s location it makes for a wonderful attraction to visit!
Check it out!
Terrible service and advice.
ZERO STARS if it was allowed
I called in advance before I drove down from Loveland to make sure it was ok to try some guitars. I had a specific Martin in mind that was in their inventory and had money in hand ready to buy. Ian was very helpful and set me up to play the guitar for about 30 minutes.
When I asked to look at another guitar, Ian obliged, but a surly older man emerged from the back room to scold me and tell me If I wasn’t prepared to spend “real” money on a guitar he’d rather not let me touch any. I understand covid considerations, which is why I called in advance before driving 60 MILES to make sure I could play. Mind you, there was not another customer in that building for the short time I spent.
Poor Ian looked stunned, and I politely left, completely embarrassed.
You’ve heard of snobbery in music stores?? Well his was worse than any Guitar Center will ever dish out. I will never do business or recommend this place to any one because of one of the worst retail experiences I’ve ever had.
I have successfully purchased that same guitar as of last week.
An older man sat in the middle of the store and made it clear to not play any instruments unless you were basically committed to purchasing. It was a stiff and uncomfortable environment. It is easy to see from many of the reviews that the business model needs an adjustment. Highly discourage coming unless you want to grovel at the feet of the owner. Also, there were no fiddles. How can they even call themselves a folklore center?
13. Campus Music Store & Studios
Address: 907 16th St, Greeley, CO 80631 , Adams County , Colorado , United States
Very helpful! Got my first guitar here years ago! WILL DICKSON and JAGUAR JAKE are juts ignorant and mad! THE WORLD DOESNT REVOLVE AROUND YOU insignifiCUNTS!!
Closed when it says 24 hours and store is a mess
14. Guitar Center
Address: 8601 Sheridan Boulevard G, Arvada, CO 80003 , Adams County , Colorado , United States
Super helpful and friendly staff. A wide range of products. Freedom to play and try out equipment and instruments.
I wish I could give this store a higher star. They do have a lot of stuff. I feel odd when I go in here. Never gotten a smile or friendliness from the pro audio staff here where I shop the most, and I’ve been here at least 4 times and spent at least a $1000 and over. They make me feel like it’s a pain to serve me. I’ll keep returning, unfortunately, because it’s the closest to me for miles. Each time I go, I have to put on an extra tough skin to stop from responding in kind to the condescending way they treat me.
More expensive prices than online
The guitar pedal area is gone, making room for lessons. They have minimal stock room because of it now. The staff is minimally knowledgeable, but they do try to answer questions.
Tried selling me another warranty. Problem is the cord was only thing wrong with monitor.. 20 bucks. Monitors went up 25 bucks in a year. Not worth paying extra money for warranty and cost difference when all I needed was a cable!
Guitar Center used to cater to professionals. Now it’s full of every level equipment. The precision section was just saying.
Arrogant sales people
15. Music Go Round
Address: 8055 W Bowles Ave #2C, Littleton, CO 80123 , Adams County , Colorado , United States
As always helpful and friendly staff, not to mention their social distancing practices puts the buying experience at ease. 10/10 support local music
They let me alone to play every acoustic in the enviro room. That’s gracious.
Ordered a used Tama Starclassic kit. Scott was prompt in answering my emails. The drums arrived on schedule and undamaged. Excellent service.
I had high hopes but just wasn’t impressed. Compared to the Aurora location, this store falls short.
The guitar area was decent with everything displayed nicely but the biggest disappointment was the amps. All the amps we’re covered in dust and we’re absolutely filthy compared to any other store I’ve been to. NONE of the amps were plugged into the power strips so you had to ask for all the cords and power cables just to try anything. That made trying to really test the sound of any guitar a nightmare.
The acoustic room was decent but everything good was locked up so one really couldn’t try much without assistance.
The keyboard section was ok but they definitely needed to be cleaned and at least plugged in for one to try.
The glass cases displaying pedals, audio interfaces, microphones and other accessories was good and decently organized.
All in all, it’s an ok store, but some serious attention needs to be paid to the presentation of all items, ESPECIALLY the guitar amps. All items need to be thoroughly cleaned and then put out on the floor with proper presentation with included power cables so every piece can be tested by the customer. No one wants to have to ask for all the missing pieces just to try something out.
Staff is a great bunch of guys who have a grasp of what’s what about musical instruments. It used to be a good place to sell your used appointment. I would give you a a decent price but nowadays they won’t even give you a price better than what a pawn shop will give you. I’ve noticed in last couple of years their prices have gone up. They don’t negotiate the prices, which puts customer at a disadvantage Because condition is a huge part in what you pay. I will still stop in and check their inventory. But not as often as I used to.
Very knowledgable and helpful
for a used store the prices are outrageous
Nice selection of instruments. Prices are on the high side for used equipment. But what really cemented my decision to never go back is that, of the five employees in the store, not one approached me to see if I needed any help. Save your time, money and effort. Go to a different music store.
Was just in the store upgrading my daughters amp not realizing you close at 4pm. Innocently thought you were open till 5 atleast like most places. Besides the miss understanding with hours. You don’t turn off the lights on your customers while they’re about to make a purchase. I come here alot and have always been treated with respect. But turning the lights out on us was a pretty low and rude move. Basically felt like you were all saying FU to us!
If you can play or sing in front of an audience you should atleast have the confidence to make an announcement that you’re about to close ahholes!
16. Rockley Music Center
Address: 4880 N Robb St #1, Wheat Ridge, CO 80033 , Adams County , Colorado , United States
Wanted to say how I enjoyed working with Scott at Rockley. I purchased two Korg SP-280s. Scott made sure I was aware of all my keyboard options, helped me chose the best piano for my needs and then matched another dealer’s price for me. The entire experience was a joy. Scott even sang for us-an added bonus!
I’m thrilled with my recent purchase from Rockley. The experience from setting the appointment, to viewing and playing the pianos, to processing the transaction was smooth and professional. Even the DELIVERY was impressive. Sonny and the other two men on his team expertly and efficiently maneuvered my new piano into place. I appreciated their respect for my home and their reverence of my newly-acquired and cherished possession. (They even polished it before leaving!)
My experience with Rockley was absolutely fantastic. Chris was a pleasure to work with and a great guy. I would not hesitate to work with him and Rockley again and I would highly recommend them to others. Thank you Chris for all that you do!
Chris was very helpful when I was having issues with my piano. He promptly got a technician out to my house. At first he did not discover the real issue with the piano, so it took some prompting on my part to get the technician to return and take a closer look at the piano. (This is the reason why I gave this review only four out of five stars) But after the technician came out again and took a closer look, he discovered the soundboard issue and Chris promptly ordered me a replacement piano. He also made sure to look it over himself personally to see to it that I was getting a very good replacement, better than my original piano. After it has been tuned, the piano is sounding beautiful and I am very appreciative to Chris for all of his extra effort in making me a happy musician once again. Thank you Chris and Rockleys.
Service is HORRIBLE!! I have been there several times and each time the employees are extremely rude. I suport local business but I’d rather go to Guitar Center than this place.
I actually am not the biggest music fan but they have so many movies! I go in there to buy all the seasons of my favorite shows. The movies are a great price also! I got season one of Greys Anatomy for $2.99!!! The workers on the sales floor keep to themselves, but the cashiers are always funny! There is also a parking garage next store that Rockley Music Center validates!
It was closed when I went there so I really didn’t get a chance to check it out but I will be back there
What has been a wonderful neighborhood store has failed to change with the times. It is sad for me to see. What once was an enthusiastic staff, happy to great you and offer assistance have become sullen and inattentive. I have heard staff and even management blame it on the internet and Guitar Center. Guitar Center didn’t lure me in. Rockley Music Drove me there.
In this review,I am only referring to the guitar department.
I drove by Rockley Music today and saw the “STORE CLOSING” sign on the building. I remember going into Rockley music with my parents when I was a kid. My dad still plays guitar and enjoyed going into Spaceman Guitars to see Chris Thomas. When I saw the sign, it concerned me that Spaceman Guitars was closing as well. Thankfully, I found out that they had just moved down the road to their own building located on the north east corner of Colfax and Kipling, right next to Metro PCS. It is sad to see that after almost 70 years Rockley’s is closing their store, but happy to know that Spaceman Guitars is still around for our family, but specifically for my dad because he likes the personal attention he gets from Chris.
17. Flesher Hinton Music
Address: 5890 W 44th Ave, Wheat Ridge, CO 80212 , Adams County , Colorado , United States
Excellent staff! Everyone was incredibly friendly and helpful when I went in looking for a clarinet! Reasonable prices! Thanks for the help!
The nice man took my used trumpet’s to be repaired and to a kid in need . Thank you very much
I’ve been coming to Flesher-Hinton since I was young and they have always been a reliable store to buy all of the music things. Now that I’m a music teacher, I always recommend that my students come here. They are kind, reasonable, and always helpful. Thank you, Flesher-Hinton! Music education in Denver is so grateful for you!
Like always the services people were just great.
There’s parking at the new location. Really reasonably priced supplies. Not the best selection for buying instruments though. Since their relocation, seems they’re putting more emphasis on instrument repair. Still probably the best music supply shop in the area
The people employees are professional, knowledgeable, and ready to help!
As with any store like this, you can expect them to be salesmen, though they don’t push too hard and don’t avoid helping you find the lowest priced items.
The technicians are great, but I wish they had a bit more enthusiasm.
If you are testing out brass instruments or such, the practice room they put me in had too much reverb to get accurate samples, even with a recording device. I have yet to ask if they had a more acoustically dry room.
They can order sheet music and products, and have all the basics and many accessories for band musicians.
Just terrible experience! Purchased a new wood clarinet 5 months ago. Found out it was cracking, unfortunately happens if not taken care of, but not in the first 5 months.
Took 2+ months to fix, when we finally picked it up, some old guy in the store started telling my 16 year old daughter about keeping it greased every six months- lecturing her because it was so dried out! Finally stepped in and told him…we bought it here less than 5 months ago…in other words, you sold an old dried out clarinet for $2000.00. Will never ever step foot in this store again d/t the service dept.
Went in to check out acoustic guitars earlier today. Got an important call as I was about to tune a guitar I was checking out and the guy behind the counter just starts blowing into some sort of wind instrument seemingly deliberately because taking a quick phone call. So I hung up the guitar and just walked out.
But the guy who welcomed me when I walked in seemed nice.
Andrew was very helpful. He restrung my guitar strings and fixed a crack . Excellent and friendly service!
Great setup on my Telecaster, plays perfectly. Thanks Andrew!
Great music store with awesome teachers and staff. Always a pleasure coming to your store!
Fantastic music shop Two guys were in there working. So very helpful. I shopped the stores and net before heading out. Allegro music has great prices
Good place to buy musical instruments. Very helpful staff
Great shall music shop with a helpful staff. Looks like a great place for learning young musicians.
My son dropped his guitar off over two weeks ago to get fixed and they never even pulled it out of the bag to fix it. They lost the paper work and we’re worthless at customer service! My son had to find his own guitar in the mess and nothing had been done to it. Never getting our business again ( actually didn’t have to pay because they didn’t touch it) and I’ll tell everyone they are horrible.
If there is an negative star I will definitely rate this shop. We rent two cellos for our kids for 9 months with their rent-to-own program, we had been told that we can use the rental equity purchase ANY music instruments. However, when we returned them the staff told us our equity should be used on those rental/used musical instrument, if we want to use them on something different, they will take 25% from our equity and they also sell us those musical instruments $100 more. I went to the store three times and every time I got different explanation on their policy. Can you imagine they sell an $500 used Yamaha student flute which costs only $200 on amazon? And an ukulele for $145? Come on! We paid about $900 rental just thought we can get something interesting for our kids when we return but it ends up we just got 2 cheap Yamaha junior guitars which Allegro charged $250 each (only costs $135 on amazon). Highly recommend those who plan to rent musical instruments from them to get an used one from Craigslist or Facebook marketplace.
Update 6/24/19
You are very welcome to post the policy I signed here, if there is any. If you told customer the equity can be used for “rent to own”, I don’t understand what is the issue when we really want to buy some instruments. The problem is you guys keep changing the words you say to your customer. You literally want to throw an used Yamaha 220 student flute to us for about $500, which the a brand new newer model costs only $480 on amazon, that’s a rip-off! And come on, we both know what quality your cello are, those just basic student cello which you can find the new one in amazon $250 each.
To those who want to rend musical instruments from Allegro, I suggest you do some research first on Facebook marketplace or Amazon, unless you do not care how much you paid. Their “rent-to-own” program will sell over-priced instruments to customers when they want to use the equity.
We are looking for a viola and came to your store today to purchase one. We walked in and there was 1 person in front of us and 2 others walked in behind us. We waited over 20 minutes as your worker kept helping everyone else that walked in behind us. Needless to say you guys just lost the purchase of upwards to $1,000. Too bad because you guys have some really nice looking Violas from the shelf.
