I come here every time I’m near Akron. They have good coffee options and their cookies and pastries are some of the best. It’s a nice, cozy place to stop. Their prices are beyond reasonable and the people are always nice so I try to tip well.
Great coffee choices. Great atmosphere and people. Highly recommend.
Good drinks great conversation
Just okay coffee. Nice pastries
Coffe was awesome
Good coffee
A cool expresso shop on the high plains of Colorado great drinks great service these small town shops are so cool better than any in the metro area
Not very good
They don’t let u use the restroom until you buy something

5. Affordable Music
Address: 104 Village Pl, Dillon, CO 80435 , Akron , Colorado , United States
Coolest people on Earth, helped find the perfect guitar for me and overall just fun to chat with. Get ya goods here, people.
Small store. Big selection.
Had a great experience here. Shane is very calm and helpful. They restrung my husband’s guitar and cleaned it up for me same day. Actually within 2 hours. It sounds and looks great again! Very affordable too! My husband was very happy when I delivered his “surprise”. Thank you!
I also got some piano sheet music for $2.
I’ve heard good things about it but I was upstairs at pug Ryan’s bar
Great store, lots of music, plenty of stringed instruments.
Surprisingly good 45 selection.
Owner is a racist. He harassed my friend for shopping while black , four times AFTER he bought a CD. We went outside and had to show the police his recite.
Great place to shop if you are worried someone is impersonating you. Don’t shop there if you are black, he might call the cops.
A shambles. Nothing affordable. Maybe okay for guitars, but not music. Looks like a yard sale gone bad. Used vinyl is poor quality, C- vinyl and covers disorganized and twice the price of Denver. Boxes of unsorted records strewn about. New stuff is full list price. Not worth the effort of stopping. Waste of time
Sells broken products. Very expensive.
6. Music Depot
Address: 2318 W 17th St, Greeley, CO 80634 , Akron , Colorado , United States
The Absolute best place to go for anything music and repairs!! AWESOME customer service, great prices, and friendly people. I don’t typically give reviews but I was so pleased that I couldn’t not praise this place. Recommend 100%!!!!
All of my kids love to play musical instruments, and this store has everything they need. From books to guitar picks and drums to xylophones. The repairs are reasonable and the staff is helpful. We love the atmosphere and quick service.
Amazingly helpful staff. Knew exactly what we needed for my student and made sure we had everything that we would want to make the learning process as easy as possible.
They had a book I needed.
Walked in this store to have a saxophone, that I recieved as a Christmas gift, serviced. I was greeted (I use the term ‘greeted’ extremely loosely) by a younger gal, with blue hair. She immediately turned her lip up at me once she saw the brand of saxophone and said she couldn’t help me with parts for “that brand”. You see, I have been out of the music loop for about 10 years and was excited to get back into lessons and eventually purchase a nice jazz saxophone, once I got back into my groove. I was so turned off by the attitude I recieved that I thanked her for her time and left the store. Unfortunately this store is literally blocks from my home, but after the experience I just can’t see myself patronizing this establishment. My hand has now been forced to drive across town or to loveland/fort Collins for my music needs. It is truly a shame that small businesses have employees that are allowed to conduct themselves in such a manner that drives individuals away from reconnecting and following their passions.
Will not treat your instruments well and provide poor service at a ridiculous rate
Good store and staff. Had a little bit of a mix up on a mandolin set up which is why I only gave 2 stars. But everything else about music depot is great.
7. Music Go Round
Address: 8055 W Bowles Ave #2C, Littleton, CO 80123 , Akron , Colorado , United States
Best used gear store ever, for my money. A wide selection, and lots of reasonably priced finds. Among other things I’ve bought here are a Japanese classical guitar and a DW drum throne – both reasonably priced and of great quality. The staff are helpful and courteous. Highly recommended.
Just like so many other reviews prior, I’ll second them. Nate & Jason were incredibly helpful and met my needs and expectations perfectly. I did my due diligence prior to going in and they then educated me way beyond! It’s absolutely clear that they want you to walk out with the right tools rather than pushing things you don’t need. Thanks, even though I live up in NE Denver I will always do my best to get back down there for my musical needs. Rock on, amigos…
Great selection and the staff is knowledgeable.
Its usually great. Had a terrible staff that I hadn’t seen before last time I went. I won’t go back.
Great shop! You can expect to pay a little more than average for used fear here, but they are VERY thorough with inspections before they buy. You can trust you will get good gear. Use as a last resort for selling though. They will give you next to nothing for your used gear. They have to make money right. Overall, staff is very friendly and helpful and new gear rolls in pretty consistently which is good and bad news for those of us with incorrigible G.A.S.
Great place to look for used gear! They have a decent selection of everything especially if you have kids! and the employees are nice. I’ve sold a few thing here and I’ll say they offer the absolute lowest price they can when you don’t take store credit… If you have something to sell and need the cash quick it’s great otherwise you have to be looking to trade for something in the store for it to be worth it.
I contacted the store online before buying the product online to make sure the store could deliver it within my timeframe. They assured me they would.
Now it’s the eve of their 2nd missed shipping opportunity and I won’t receive the gear in time. I had to purchase the item new and pay for overnight shipping to make sure I got it in time.
Between the purchase and now, the store had gone radio silent, despite my sending an additional email requesting information.
The upshot is that I purchased the gear through a reputable online dealer and will have my gear by Wednesday (today is Monday), rather than whenever the staff of this store decided to get around to it.
Btw… “Sorry dude” doesn’t cut it. Hope the store manager processes my refund with a greater sense of urgency and professionalism.
Was just in the store upgrading my daughters amp not realizing you close at 4pm. Innocently thought you were open till 5 atleast like most places. Besides the miss understanding with hours. You don’t turn off the lights on your customers while they’re about to make a purchase. I come here alot and have always been treated with respect. But turning the lights out on us was a pretty low and rude move. Basically felt like you were all saying FU to us!
If you can play or sing in front of an audience you should atleast have the confidence to make an announcement that you’re about to close ahholes!
for a used store the prices are outrageous
8. Sax Alley
Address: 561 E Garden Dr UNIT E, Windsor, CO 80550 , Akron , Colorado , United States
Tim is so helpful, knowledgeable and nice. We will be going to Sax Alley for all our Sax needs.
I am very grateful for sax alley. Tim is of the highest integrity, 100% trustworthy and professionalism. His instruments are the best and best priced on the market. He makes sure they are playing optimally beforehand.
Tim has got to be the best horn repair guy in the world. With his talent in repair and service he definitely is worth checking into. He also goes above and beyond to make sure you get your instrument returned better than new. Tuned and cleaned up with every service is something you don’t expect anymore. He’s available to talk about your horn and has an online store where you can order just about anything with only quality stuff. Love Tim and know once you have him service your horn, you’ll never go anywhere else.
9. Monkton Guitars
Address: 1505 W 1st Ave A, Broomfield, CO 80020 , Akron , Colorado , United States
A bit tough to find, but its a wonderful shop. Owner is very knowledgeable, kind and friendly. I already had a carbon fiber Klos tenor ukulele and asked them to put on flurocarbon strings for me. I saw a very wide range of ukuleles and guitars, including carbon fiber guitars which looked amazing. Highly recommend this shop not just for instruments but also for re-stringing etc.
What a great store! Very friendly staff and great repairs. I had a Squire strat and Pbass setup last week, very inexpensive and they both now sound great. They even threw in a free volume knob that had fallen off. Forget Guitar Center and go to Monkton! The owner even let me guess on the guitarist gallery they have on the wall, not an easy feat.
Very friendly and knowledgeable. Worked with me on my needs and came up with a solution for rocking!
Best shop around!
great place to try and buy, they know their stuff and are super nice and willing to help you find what you’re looking for. they have great recommendations and will let you play whatever for however long. very cheap for repairs and guitar work, much cheaper than other places. got my frets leveled/crowned and it sounds fantastic, however they did kind of gauge/scratch the neck on several frets. sucks, but not a huge deal as it’s not a high end guitar and the price was right ($60). again, sounds great but i would be weary of bringing a higher end model in as they weren’t very careful about taping off the neck to avoid cosmetic damage.
do not take your guitars here for repair! simple jobs will end up being 2 hours in labor charges. they will take your working guitar and send you home with a non-working guitar. they will mix up the wiring on the pots. they will give you pots too large so your knobs have a huge gap underneath. unbelievably unprofessional and incapable.
EDIT: The business response is not a fair respresentation. First guitar, volume pots wired backwards. Second guitar, repair only lasted the car ride home. Second fix only lasted the next car ride home. Third fix, incorrect tone mapping and too large of pots. Every single trip a problem. Why would I go back?
10. The Denver Folklore Center
Address: 1893 S Pearl St, Denver, CO 80210 , Akron , Colorado , United States
The great people at the Folklore Center are experts in their field. They know a lot about the instruments they sell and the set ups are next level. Not only are they knowledgeable but they’re also very friendly and kind. Go here for your musical instrument needs!
Great store, staff very helpful, if your looking for an acoustic instrument this is the spot!
Very nice and helpful.
The shop itself, and especially Angus are fantastic. The luthier however, is not. I asked for one repair on my banjo, which they performed, but they also performed other destructive modifications without asking me. I only discovered the changes and damage when I examined the instrument on pickup. Thankfully it was “only” a $900 instrument. If this had happened to one of my more expensive pieces, I don’t know what I would have done.
We went in to try to find a mandolin. The store is smallish but selection is good. Very “buy something now or leave” vibe. We were able to get some questions answered by their seemingly knowledgeable staff, but the way we were treated made it difficult to find an instrument that might be a good fit.
Claude spent time reviewing my questions about guitars.
Came here while on a trip with a friend and mandolin student who was in the market for a new mandolin. She hadn’t played many because there aren’t really any places to play them where we live. I am always in the market for new instruments I like, and have several multi-thousand dollar instruments. So we went to the store, which had no other customers there, and looked at the mandolins.
She is pretty shy so I wanted to loosen her up into not feeling judged and free to try and compare. I grabbed one of the cheaper mandolins and did my typical trying out a mando routine of playing parts of tunes that try out the high, low, and mid ranges of the instrument. As soon as she started playing one of the cheaper Kentucky mandolins softly some guy came over and asked what we were looking for and that we could only play the instruments if we were going to buy them.
I gave him a quick synopsis of the situation and made the point that it’s hard to know what we’d want to buy until having played it. He replied with a smirk and said he could show us to something specific if we were interested, but couldn’t condone “jamming”. I was bewildered as we were not jamming at all, but simply lightly playing on some cheap mandolins at the same time.
Eventually he showed me to some octave mandolin that I pretended to be interested in due to the feeling that if I didn’t tell him something specific we’d be kicked out or something. I felt suspicious somehow. When he left, some younger guy came over and he was really cool. But that older guy killed any good vibes. I didn’t even try all the instruments I would have been considering to buy.
One would think that, especially in this day and age, brick and mortar music stores need to be a sanctuary for players to play instruments they’re shopping for.
I miss Harry. He was polite to his customers.
Terrible service and advice.
11. Music Go Round
Address: 2925 S College Ave, Fort Collins, CO 80525 , Akron , Colorado , United States
Hey Brandon, want to let you know how awesome John—David is. Music Go Round is incredible.
The store has a wide selection of guitars, basses, drums, amps, and effects, ranging from ragged vintage gear to cutting edge new! The prices are hard-set and middle of the road, but unlike your average pawn shop, the products are very clean, and they all work!
Brandon and the rest of the crew at Music Go Round are VERY helpful. This place has time and time again been my band’s go to for sick deals and trade-ins. Thanks dudes
Nice service, but if it wasn’t clear enough yet it’s mostly just used gear and selling used gear, nothing else really.
Asked about where to repair my amp, told him I had it looked at by a local sound guy that has been repairing amps for decades(including four of mine, which I was very happy with) but wasn’t sure if I wanted to return it to the factory to be refurbished. The guy behind the counter(the manager) took that opportunity to bash the guy I went to(pretty excessively), and try to convince me his amp guy would be better than having it factory refurbished. It was rude, unprofessional and I’m doubt I’ll ever be back in the store.
Good deals and knowledgeable staff .
A little pricey for used
Good music store but don’t sell them your musical instruments – they value everything on ebay and offer you less than 10% of its value. Offered me $50 for a very old German violin which I sold on craigslist for $800 which was about the value of the instruments I could see them looking at to compare against on ebay
I do not recommend this store. I have been a faithful customer for many years and tried to support local business, however this particular Music Go Round is by far the worst. I have brought in guitars and basses that I have played for years only to be told they have warped necks or something else is wrong with them. I have brought these same instruments to either Guitar Center (Fort Collins/Arvada)or the other two Music Go Rounds in Denver (Littleton specifically) and they had no issues and said all they needed was a little set up. While the owner is a good guy, the manager is completely un-knowledgeable and very rude. Also, their return policy is completely different from the other Music Go Rounds only allowing 7 days and in store credit only, and while they claim it’s stated everywhere it is not musician friendly as sometimes we need more time to see if equipment is going to work for us. Guitar Center is a much more musician and user friendly store, and I would highly advise taking the trip to the other locations to be treated fairly.
I haven’t lived in CO for a long time but recently purchased a guitar from them. When I did live there they were without a doubt the best shop around. Forget giants like Guitar Center and Sam Ash. This is a mom and pop shop that’ll meet or beat any price the big stores will have. Thanks so much Jen I may be calling you about a Marshall cabinet I’m purchasing next. Great staff. Much love to everyone there.
They are awesome! Always give me great deals on things and I never had single problem with anything i have ever bought! They make sure everything is good and that you are happy!. Thank you!!
Spotlight Music is much better than Guitar Center. They take the time to get to know everyone that comes through the door, and the time put into every order really shows. I’ve been going to Spotlight for over 10 years and they are yet to let me down. If you’re in Fort Collins, go here!
I’ve got a Breedlove Stage Pursuit, 7 years old, played nearly an hour every day. Prob needs some setup by July 1 for getting back on-platform at Timberline Church. Do you have a tech available (a number of guitar stores – including Guitar Center – say they don’t have one anymore) who could do the work? Would love not to have to drive up to Cheyenne or down to Denver. Thanks.
The atmosphere is friendly, and this is clearly not a corporate chain establishment. Unfortunately, they no longer carry Taylor guitars.
.
nice selection of guitars and equipment ,and associated equipment … of string’s piks & suff!
Flea markets have better warranty support
Cable companies have better customer service
Any Questions?
Really frustrating! Customer service is non-existant!
These people are the biggest rip-off artists in the world.
Selling defective guitars and equipment. ..
These are all factory seconds, and cheap cheap cheap Chinese knock offs…
13. Olde Town Pickin’ Parlor
Address: 7515 Grandview Ave, Arvada, CO 80002 , Akron , Colorado , United States
This place has been my home away from home for over 30 years, even if I’m not here often anymore. It’s one of the few truly sane (and yet just slightly twisted) places on the planet.
Great guitar shop with large selection of vintage instruments, including ukuleles, mandolins, etc.. Owner is super friendly
This is the only guitar shop in town that carries my Elixer light medium strings. I always seem to learn something when I go in there.
They were unwilling to negotiate the price (at all) towards a trade in, which was a bummer. Don’t expect any deals here because you won’t get one. I would come back here if there was a guitar I really wanted, but otherwise there are similar guitars in same or better condition on craigslist for less, and without sales tax. He wanted 2600+ for a Martin HD28v with a crack in it.
Great little shop offering guitars, mandolins, banjos and a huge variety of stringed instruments both for sale and/or repair. A fun shop to visit, and if you play to try out the various instruments.
I was looking forward to visiting, but after this experience it is highly unlikely I will ever go back. The guy working the counter today could not have cared less that a customer was in the store and interested in guitars. I tried to engage him in conversation, but he had zero interest in chatting with me. Thoroughly unimpressed. I have a hard time believing they will be able to stay in business if this is how most of the people who try to shop there are treated. I love to support local businesses, but unfortunately this won’t be one I support in the future. If you need anything guitar or music related, you’re probably better off finding another place to shop.
Disappointing that employees won’t wear a mask, despite the sign on their front door saying it’s required. Decent selection but generally lacking in customer service.
They r rude n loud, they stand outside with there electric guitar so u can hear them 3 blocks away. when asked to turn it down so those of us who have to be close dont go deff, they got verbally violent and turned up the speekers. Making the situation worse. All of this and they wernt even open. Dont shop with here they dont deserve your money!!!
14. Flipside Music
Address: 2231 S Platte River Dr, Denver, CO 80223 , Akron , Colorado , United States
I’ve been in here 3 times, every time i’m pleasantly surprised. each guitar is set up beautifully without regard to price or manufacturer, if you need an instrument or pedal; it’s the best option i’ve seen in the area. they take a focused approach to guitars/basses/amps/pedals and they do it extremely well. they stock an astounding quantity of different pedals, and they’re helpful and personable, and they stay busy.
Been to a lot of the highly rated people/shops around Denver offering set ups. I’ve paid double for work that still comes back just pretty good to so-so. Attn to detail and high consistent standards with Sam at Flipside —at better prices. Also actually Fender certified, unlike some of the hobbyists who do questionable work and actually have no real training.Go here
Super helpful, great selection, reasonable pricing too. We bought our daughter her electric guitar from here. Will be back.
Best service in this category
Pretty good store with decent prices
Cool store, not the friendliest staff. Nice pedal selection.
Overly expensive and also lots of homeless people hanging outside on the street near by. It’s a dump.
15. Flesher Hinton Music
Address: 5890 W 44th Ave, Wheat Ridge, CO 80212 , Akron , Colorado , United States
Open! Clean and friendly, with knowledgeable staff.
I am a musician and have been involved with Flesher-Hinton for over 10 years. They always have a wonderful selection to meet my needs and the staff are very knowlegable. I highly recommend Flesher-Hinton for all your music needs!
There’s parking at the new location. Really reasonably priced supplies. Not the best selection for buying instruments though. Since their relocation, seems they’re putting more emphasis on instrument repair. Still probably the best music supply shop in the area
The people employees are professional, knowledgeable, and ready to help!
As with any store like this, you can expect them to be salesmen, though they don’t push too hard and don’t avoid helping you find the lowest priced items.
The technicians are great, but I wish they had a bit more enthusiasm.
If you are testing out brass instruments or such, the practice room they put me in had too much reverb to get accurate samples, even with a recording device. I have yet to ask if they had a more acoustically dry room.
They can order sheet music and products, and have all the basics and many accessories for band musicians.
Like always the services people were just great.
Went in to check out acoustic guitars earlier today. Got an important call as I was about to tune a guitar I was checking out and the guy behind the counter just starts blowing into some sort of wind instrument seemingly deliberately because taking a quick phone call. So I hung up the guitar and just walked out.
But the guy who welcomed me when I walked in seemed nice.
Just terrible experience! Purchased a new wood clarinet 5 months ago. Found out it was cracking, unfortunately happens if not taken care of, but not in the first 5 months.
Took 2+ months to fix, when we finally picked it up, some old guy in the store started telling my 16 year old daughter about keeping it greased every six months- lecturing her because it was so dried out! Finally stepped in and told him…we bought it here less than 5 months ago…in other words, you sold an old dried out clarinet for $2000.00. Will never ever step foot in this store again d/t the service dept.
16. Allegro Music
Address: 11475 Twenty Mile Rd Suite A, Parker, CO 80134 , Akron , Colorado , United States
Very knowledgeable and helpful staff. Great products.
This place is fantastic. We’ve been renting a cello here for the past several years. When my son needed to size up we were able to exchange his 1/8 size for a 1/4 size no problem. When his cello rolled out of the trunk, they swapped the broken one for a new one, no problem (i would recommend the insurance!). My other son started the trumpet and I brought in an old trumpet we had to see if it could be serviced or if we needed to rent a new one. They could have gotten a monthly rental out of me, but instead they got our old one working for $75. Very high integrity, quality instruments, nice people.
Guys do a great job of keeping my guitars in top running condition. They are very knowledgable about all things guitar related and the new shop is very welcoming.
Fantastic music shop Two guys were in there working. So very helpful. I shopped the stores and net before heading out. Allegro music has great prices
The staff was easily the best feature of the store. They were very friendly and supportive in helping me understand their products and services. Not only do they sell instruments but they offer lessons and practice rooms too. The selection of used electric pianos was limited and the prices of new instruments was higher than what I could pay shopping online, but with services like rent-to-own (great rates) and such knowledgeable staff I will be a return client.
Good selection of piano books for students and teachers as well as band and orchestra books. I was disappointed there wasn’t popular piano sheet music, but not surprised considering that it’s a small music store. Instruments are available to rent and they have some supplies there for guitars and such. They also have recorders for those 4th graders, which is why I went there!
I wouldn’t shop there for anything except for guitar picks or something maybe not even that.
We are looking for a viola and came to your store today to purchase one. We walked in and there was 1 person in front of us and 2 others walked in behind us. We waited over 20 minutes as your worker kept helping everyone else that walked in behind us. Needless to say you guys just lost the purchase of upwards to $1,000. Too bad because you guys have some really nice looking Violas from the shelf.
I came for the guitar lessons. The staff was very polite. For a long time, they asked a teacher whom I even very briefly met. We agreed on the price, schedule and I left my phone number on which the teacher should contact me. No one contacted me. What is most surprising is that the manager sees that something is wrong, the student did not come to the planned very first lesson and does nothing. This place is probably so overloaded with work that they can choose individuals to be their students… Unfortunately, I can not recommend this place.
We were looking for a professional Getzen 3062AFR bass trombone online for WEEKS, when we came across this store. We were able to get the Getzen 3062AFR bass trombone used (but in impecable condition) for an excellent price. A new Getzen 3062AFR is very expensive, so we eagerly bought it. As we purchased it, Gina was very helpful and gave us photos and a thorough description of the instrument. As the product shipped, we were frequently updated on where it was on its process. An amazing store.
Gina is a consummate musical instrument expert, especially when it comes to Flutes, Horns, and the litany of Brass Band instruments. I reached out via email to her business after hours and received a return phone call immediately and she proceeded to run me thru the gamut of her Saxophone collection on hand and educated me on each and every one I inquired about and lastly she offered an a phenomenal deal on a mint condition Sax that I would have been foolish to bypass. To top it all off she had the instrument overnighted to me (unbeknownst to me). My inspection proved that she was spot on in her description on the instruments condition. I can’t give enough accolades to Gina and her team. Thanks a million Gina!!!
Ordered a used king trombone. Was in really good condition. No surprise damages or anything, I’d order from here again
18. HB Woodsongs
Address: 3101 28th St, Boulder, CO 80301 , Akron , Colorado , United States
Great range of instruments. It’s rare to find a brick-and-mortar music store these days that can afford to stay in business – especially in a city with expensive rents like Boulder. Just got a beautiful octave mandolin there and my daughter rents a cello from them. Let’s support local businesses!
Wonderful service and people!
Just one thing: If you’re buying an acoustic guitar, they only accept returns if you also purchased a humidifier.
Great ukalele selection
Attentive staff. Good selection. Prices are average to high.
Go to place in Boulder for all of my acoustic instrument needs. Good people, excellent service, nice atmosphere.
Very friendly staff, unfortunately way over-priced. You can find some of the exact same items on ebay or Amazon for less than half the price at this store.
19. Guitar Center
Address: 8601 Sheridan Boulevard G, Arvada, CO 80003 , Akron , Colorado , United States
Great selection of gear and friendly, knowledgeable staff.
Great service, people are professional and nice.
It has almost all of our guitar needs.
Good selection, helpful staff, reasonable pricing (and they price match, usually).
Good selection, helpful staff. Some sale prices. Good return policy.
it was horrible the service was bad no one came and helped me out
No option for zero star? Waited over 30 minutes for help with a $1,000 keyboard no one would help management obviously doesnt care so I took my business down the road to music and arts only 5 minutes away
Stopped in for some strings and decided to look around. The shop was lacking customers. 4 employees congregated behind the counter greeted me. I passed through the pro audio section and was actually surprised by the mess about the room. Speakers were displaced and scattered about, trash was on the floor, and there was an unused ladder in the middle of the sales floor. A bit disguhsted I went to get my strings and leave. Go figure, they were out of the light gauge diaddario acoustic strings I play. The next closest option was $2 more. I asked the 4 complacent fellas at the counter if I could get a $2 discount. The response was, “ I don’t know man… that’s above my pay grade.” After a slight urging they called a manager (Cody) who came out and attempted to tell me how different the strings were instead of trying to understand that the string I drove accross town for were out of stock. I walked out, drove 10 minutes to Music and Arts (which is OWNED by Guitar Center) and got the same alternate strings for $3 less than what they were priced at GC. I’ve had multiple issues with GC over the years and not once has there been any attempt at a resolution. Officially done with GC and any affiliates.
20. Drum City-Guitar Land
Address: 9225 W 44th Ave, Wheat Ridge, CO 80033 , Akron , Colorado , United States
Great place to buy a guitar. Great place to have one repaired
What an amazing display of quality guitars. Friendly staff too!
I’ve purchased multiple guitars from Drum City-Guitar Land. Great local business with excellent customer service. Highly recommended.
Nice music equipment… But very expensive
Don’t buy used cymbals here. Everything was upcharged to hell and back. Good selection of new drum gear and they have good sets, but the experience of going there was enough to make me disregard the shop when I’m in Denver looking for gear. One of the guys there was unbearable and barely seemed to know what he was talking about. Here’s everything he did in the 45 minutes I was there:
1: bragged CONSTANTLY about how much they distribute and how they were Zildjian certified. That’s cool and really unique to this store! So is guitar center.
2: saw I was wearing a Rupps drums tshirt and proceeded to diss on Rupps, saying they distributed more. Not cool dude. This isn’t 6th grade, be mature.
3: was charging 160 for a 13” Zildjian crash because it was “rare.” The only reason they seem rare is because they weren’t in production nearly as long as other models, were not popular, and really didn’t have a purpose that couldn’t be fulfilled by a 12” splash or 14” crash. Can’t just make up a status to warrant charging 60% more than it’s worth.
4: legit asked me what I would charge for a pair of hihats. Dude, you would not let me shop in peace as you went on about how professional and experienced you are. If a 19 year old with a reverb shop knows, certainly the biggest Zildjian retailer in Denver should.
5: tried to use the MSRP/our price trick to get me to buy a crash. The whole “Sabian sells it for 619.99 but our price is 309.99” setup. Just look at the catalogs. There’s only one correct retail price that the companies set. We all know that.
6: couldn’t identify a cymbal.
I found an 18” K custom dark crash in the back. No logos, just Zildjian. I asked him about pricing and he said 280, looked at it again, and said it was an Armand series. It took a lot of restraint not to bust out laughing. A supposed drum expert couldn’t seem to tell the difference between a vintage style rotary hammered cymbal and a series with unmistakable trademarks that you don’t see anywhere else. It had a K Zildjian stamp, k custom lathing and hammering, and the logo was still partially visible. If you look at it today even with prior cleaning, you’ll see a giant K imprint, and the words “Custom dark crash.” Needless to say I got a really good discount that would still be priced too high if it were an Armand, all because someone didn’t know their stuff. Feel free to buy here, just make sure you know your stuff.
This place is pretty pricey. They say their drum heads are half off but the original price is double of what you would pay everywhere else around town, so you break even.
I purchased a guitar from this company for my husband, it was a 7 string Schecter Omen which was something he had been wanting for quite some time so I purchased it as a surprise gift for him. He used the guitar once and the next time he went to play it wasn’t working. We took it to a company that fixes guitars and they informed us that it was a used guitar.. I paid full price for a guitar that was not only USED but BROKE immediately after purchase!! If you’re in the market for a guitar I highly suggest that you search elsewhere. Drum City is not a reliable place to purchase from
Inquired over the phone (45 min drive) on needing 2x Iron Cobra Wooden Beaters. “Got them for you” was his response. Fight traffic to get there, buy product and trustingly got back in car. Upon inspection in parking lot, one is labeled CB90W (correct), the other CB90F (wrong). Stems are different and neither comes with weights. Looking closer the wood is shaped differently, different sizes and completely different types of wood. Just paid for two “new” Wooden Beaters that weigh differently and have different bounce properties. This place will lie just to make a dollar. Never going back.
I’m a beginner so I went in looking for the ibanez bass guitar starter pack. Everything went smoothly (other than when I asked them for any begginers advice they have and was ignored twice) and I was happy until I got home and pulled it out of the box to start playing. That’s when I realized the bass to amp cable was missing. So I called them and they got me a new after I had to drive back to the store. Got home again, hooked up the bass to the amp, then realized I needed to tune it. The electronic tuner it was supposed to come with was missing. I decided I need to take a full inventory. I didn’t think this was necessary because of this stores great reputation. It was also missing the shoulder strap. I had to drive back one more to return the item. Upon returning, they blamed the manufacturer and never offered anything to make up for the lost time, gas money, and frustration I experienced. I decided not to leave this review as I continued my search for my first bass set up. I found a nice bass but now i needed an amp. So after a week, I called them to give them another chance (on black friday) and asked them if there was any deal they can give me since they already gave me the run around once and if I drive all the way to 44th I want it to be worth it. The response was that his cheapest amps start at $100. I am now deciding to leave this review in hopes of 1. Improving their customer service 2. Making a begginers buyer beware as i felt like I was treated poorly compared to the other customers who weren’t begginers. Their reviews say friendly but I felt no friendliness during my whole experience 3. If u purchase from here, check that they don’t rip u off by making a full inventory before leaving the premises.
