Brand new musician in training, I went in to see about getting the action lowered on my new mandolin. Since it’s an inexpensive instrument, I don’t want to spend too much.. I was advised about possibly re-stringing with lighter strings and/or possibly sanding the bridge down. Each of those services will run me more than I paid for the mandolin. LOL
Since I’m a beginner, I’m ignorant about prices but $70 to change strings seems high. The man who helped me greeted me in a friendly way and even took the time to fine tune the instrument just to be nice! My 1st visit here but I’ll be back. Decent selection and prices. Convenient location & hours.

Not a bad place to be..
This is a great store. it’s locally owned, and unlike the Big Chain stores, you get personal service from people who really care, and it’s stocked with an amazing amount of equipment. They are my go-to music store in Placer county.
Small store, the guy is very helpful and knowledgeable about guitars. I’m docking the rating one star because the selection of guitars is pretty limited. The only acoustic guitars in the store were Yamahas and Taylor’s (with some off brand ones too).
Lots of instruments
Laid back staff, old school rock n roll music store.
Needed the nut replaced on my bass and they suggested glueing the nut and that turned out better but I’m now having the nut replaced as I wanted in the beginning due to it still having a crack in it and now there is glue everywhere. Also had him do a light setup and when I got the bass back the truss rod what so tight that I almost could not adjust it and all the strings rattled. They may have costed me a neck.
I went here twice. I did not have a great experience the first time, being made to feel as though I wasn’t good enough to shop here, but decided to give it a second chance instead of supporting Amazon. A price I was quoted on my first visit mysteriously increased by over $10 on my second visit and with no price tags on items, the two men working there verbally discussed the price which continued to increase in front of me. Because I had left myself in a bind without enough time to order from Amazon, I paid their increased price but I will never support this store again.

Great selection of old and new used music, and a very knowledgeable owner. Charming store located in old Auburn.
Al knows what he’s doing! Great quality records, CDs, and groovy tie dye shirts. This place is the way to a good time!
Great record shop
Nice selection. Owner uses a record pricing website that is more expensive than discogs price tool. My biggest issue was that the owner had a large unpriced collection of used records that have recently come in. He refused to sell from this collection of decent records because he “hasn’t gotten around to sorting them yet”. In my experience of similar stores, if a customer finds an unpriced record of interest, the seller will look up the value on the spot and offer it to the customer. Instead, the owner denied access to the collection and continued watching a sports game on his TV. Disappointing to see a business owner that would rather take part in leisure than to tend to his customers.
Nice selection of Record Sale Day LPs. Otherwise pricey.
A bit pricey. Selection is OK – I’ve never seen so many records of John Denver or Lindale Rondstant.
You don’t snap at customers every time they come in until they’re apprehensive to come at all. Accused me of not spending enough when I’ve spent hundreds there before. Told me not to come at days end. Don’t come unless I know what I want. I tried to be nice, and I was never rude to him. Bad customer service now. To bad, was a gem. Can’t support it anymore.
I traveled over 20 miles just to go to that store, and I arrived around 3:30 on a week day, the open sign was on but there was a note in the window ” be back in 15 minutes ” I waited 20 and still noone showed! I wasted alot of time tring to go the here and will never waste another thought on this place right after this review
I hope they Are taking a copy of ID on high end Audio gear purchased at the store so the original owner can retrieve it. I talked to Steve at Audio nerd about this and his answer was you need to leave the state right away?
