I had gone to this Music Store yesterday with an acoustic guitar and a cello, and the employee’s were very kind to me and my sibling, and the employee fixing my cello gave me advice on so many things, absolutely sweet environment and amazing services!
I have been buying my instruments from Jacksons music for over 15 years and I have always had an awesome experience!
First time to this place. My friend gave my son a Fender guitar and recommended I go and speak with John at the Douglasville location. What an awesome experience. He could not have been nicer. He fixed me up with everything I would need without breaking the bank. He even put on new strings and tuned while I waited. So knowledgeable and friendly. I won’t go anywhere else. Thanks again Jackson’s Music Douglasville
Good people
Great help.
Decent selection, friendly and helpful. I’ve been using them for almost ten years.
Music is awesome
Went in to look for an acoustic guitar, amp and some cables. Employee with beard and glasses kept following me around but wasn’t saying anything. It felt weird so I left.
I’ve went to Jackson’s music a few times in the past couple of years. I have purchased a drum set from them and its my number one kit still to this day. For the most part friendliness is in the atmosphere when the older guys are working, the younger guy on the other hand is lazy and careless and doesn’t see the need to know about drum accessories even being the store salesman that he is.. I guess he’s a guitar guy or something. I feel as if anyone that was clueless about music or music instruments could do a better job than that guy. The guy acted as if he didn’t know what I was talking about and was trying to pretty much get me off the phone until I pushed the issue. Then he was like, “oh I know what you’re talking about.” This was after I walked him through what I was in need of twice! Anyways the guy clearly knew what I was talking about and was more than likely anxious to get off on time instead of making one more sale for the day. He even told me that someone else called this past week about the same thing. In store experience is definitely the route to go. If you call you’ll more than likely get the careless and clueless young guy on the phone that doesn’t even deserve his job. I don’t know if it’s because he didn’t get the training he needed or if he likes to milk the system but whatever the case may be he obviously can’t help you because he can’t even help himself or the store by doing a good job.
Hands-down the worst music store ever!
3. Atlanta Musicians Exchange
Address: 2619 Lawrenceville Hwy, Decatur, GA 30033 , Avión , Georgia , United States
Great no-nonsense music shop. Nice folks who tell it like it is and don’t try to “sell at you.” For those of us on a budget, they give great prices, honest opinions, and genuine smiles!
Very friendly and helpful staff.
Horrible Customer service and NOT HELPFUL!! Instead of helping we with appropriate prices for my gear, I was ridiculed by the prices I thought might be appropriate. A ‘good luck with selling your stuff at those prices’ is all I got. I don’t appreciate the attitude and lack of consideration. All they could have said was ‘those prices are higher than market currently…have you thought of selling them for $$$$?’. Unfortunately the response I got causes me to NEVER want to shop at this place. Sellers BEWARE.
The photo of the wall of guitars is pretty much their entire stock. I’ve seen low-end pawn shops that are less cluttered.
Do not email these people. I emailed them about a guitar to trade. They responded a week and a half later with a rude email from someone named Mike saying they couldn’t view my link (by this time, I had already traded the guitar to someone). I told them I had traded the guitar already because they took a week and a half to respond. Mike then responded with an even ruder email implying that my guitar was probably junk anyway (it was actually a nice vintage copy of an ES-335). Absolutely atrocious customer service; should be avoided at all costs. I was looking forward to shopping there whether they wanted the guitar or not; I am now taking my business to Guitar Center and Music-Go-Round.
4. Earthshaking Music
Address: 648 McDonough Blvd SE, Atlanta, GA 30315 , Avión , Georgia , United States
I bought an acoustic guitar from this location after purchasing a very cheap guitar from Amazon ($40, came with 3 picks, gig bag, digital tuner, extra strings, and a tuning pipe).
The guitar didn’t stay in tune. Everytime I tried to tune it, it would make these terrifying popping sounds on the bridge.
The guitar I purchased here was quality, and 2x more expensive but worth the investment. I now have been playing for 7 months. I started a YouTube channel lol.
I now use 3 fingers instead of just my thumb lol ( arpeggios)
I love playing A perfect Circle 3 Libras and Temple of the Dog – Hunger Strike7
Charlie was really helpful with picking out my new mandolin strings. I’m also really happy with my amp and loop pedal.
When I walked in they were playing Bauhaus. Great selection of cables. Great customer service from Charlie. It’s nice to have a spot like this in town.
Solid.
Friendly and knowledgeable staff, great instrument options for guitars and percussion. The location is not the best part of town; otherwise, I would have given it 5 stars.
There is a lot I like about this place, but there is definitely a problem with sexism here. The staff seems to be entirely white and male, and one staff member in particular has consistently been very patronizing to me. Without any prior familiarity with me, he consistently assumed I lack any knowledge or expertise. He told me things about my own gear as if I couldn’t possibly understand it on my own. He told me that I would be able to settle on one type of guitar I liked once I had “some experience.” At one point, while trying out a guitar, I noted it was out of tune. I was about to tune it when he quickly took it from me, saying he would be able to tune it faster than I could. (This did not turn out to be true. He actually seemed to have some trouble with the amp’s tuner.) This particular employee has been there the last few times I’ve been in, and from other employees I’ve experienced a remote surliness. I understand this is the traditional culture of music stores, but I personally am not interested in participating anymore. It’s a shame, because I think the store has a good selection and good prices, and it’s in my neighborhood. But until the culture at the store changes, I’ll unfortunately be using ebay.
We were looking for a pre-owned Taylor or Martin acoustic guitar. We’re from out of town and had somewhere to be so we only had about 25 minutes to look around. At first everyone was nice while we looked around, both of our kids are involved heavily in music so they spent their time there trying out instruments to which the gentleman attending (I could assume owner) was kind and attentive. Until we turned down sale of a keyboard, at which point he decided to approach my autistic son while on a small drum kit and scream at him for being too big for it. I’m no fan of leaving places in handcuffs, so I didn’t cave in his face, I decided a well deserved poor review and exposure to the public what a peice of trash he is would suffice. Trying Dirt Cheap Music nearby instead.
*update following response from the owner
It is fair to say that your employee had a right to address the issue, but screaming and belittling an autistic child isn’t the way to go about it. Furthermore, my initial feelings of rage as a protective father are quite normal and my decision to take a more appropriate route is not something I am ashamed of in the slightest. Neither of them damaged anything and nothing was kicked or struck with any kind of force by either child. You responded defensively and completely missed the point. To scream at the child in an aggressive manner, autistic or not is unacceptable and the employee could have delivered the exact same message in a better tone and achieved far better results. I honestly can’t imagine any scenario that aggressively yelling at a person in your store achieves any positive results.
Selling used harmonicas at brand new prices. No boxes, sales staff insist the cases Are the boxes and are all brand new. None sealed.
Opened 2 and saw scratches on the plates.
5. Musician’s Warehouse
Address: 245 N Lumpkin St, Athens, GA 30601 , Avión , Georgia , United States
Local musicians helping other working musicians in Athens. The owner has a heart of gold and a great drummer with years of experience & knowledge!
good place, decent enviroment, great service
We had such a wonderful experience! Our son needed drumsticks on short notice before the store closed, and the employees were nice enough to wait for us to get there to help us. They found drumsticks that were on clearance that our son loves, and were super friendly! We will definitely be back!
Professional assistance provided.
Pretty good shop if you are in Athens. Much better selection of gear than their competitors in the area.
Nice selection of stringed and percussion instruments. Pretty decent prices, too.
Poor selection. If you like grandpa guitars this is the place. Wouldnt recomend to any modern guitar players.
Really wanted to like this company. I was cheated and conned, and after a week with zero communication I contacted them. They fumbled around for another day or two then stated they couldn’t find the item. I was left empty handed and confused. No attempt at finding the item or ordering another. Nothing. Zip. C’mon guys!
Dude I’m not sure what happened. The first floor is desolate (empty for everybody that’s currently reading this while dunk). I understand social distancing, but I’m I am attending Warehouse, I do not care about the current situation, I’m here to rave. Open the first floor for a mosh pit.
6. Music Go Round – Atlanta/Duluth, GA
Address: 3675 Satellite Blvd # 100, Duluth, GA 30096 , Avión , Georgia , United States
I purchased a product from this site online. The staff answered all my questions and the product was exactly as described. Also the packing and care of product was well done. Jake and the staff at Lilburn truly know their business. I would purchase from them again.
Lots of good used gear there
hello im drummer steve snow ive been shopping both buying and selling music equiptment. years plus here. well very fair . and good people to deal with. thank you music go round for supporting my music needs. truly liven for music. steve snow
Excellent. I couldn’t get a demo on the instrument that I came for but this was not surprising considering it was an unusual instrument(EWI 5000 electronic wind instrument) The staff are great and the inventory is large. Prices are competitive especially if you follow their markdowns online. I got a great deal on this one and it works and looks like new!
If you have any old musical equipment that you’re trying to get rid of or even any new equipment you have in mind that you may need this is the spot to go too! Maaaaan when I walked in all you can say is “wow” check it out!
They have a Large selection of used stuff. Some rare stuff I haven’t seen in a while.
Got offered $350 for an excellent condition USA Fender Stratocaster with all original tools, trem etc today – IN TRADE against a guitar in their store. Jerry, the sales associate, didn’t even take it out of the case for his “appraisal”. Meanwhile, they have another USA Fender Stratocaster with the same specs (I know, because I looked for the equivalent on their website before even going there) for $900. Oh, wait, there was a difference – theirs is dinged all over. When I pointed that one out, I was told it was “different’. Wouldn’t elaborate why, of course. Because it wasn’t, apart from the dings of course. Won’t be back.
Poor customer service. Salesman was disrespectful. Had to walk out on a purchase. Very disappointed.
Came in an hour before close to sell some gear. A couple of things:
1. Staff/atmosphere: The staff wasn’t very welcoming and made their annoyance known about me trying to get an appraisal an hour before close.
2. Accessibility: all the amps were disconnected, making it inaccessible to try out guitars.
3. Prices/trade-in value: They have a USA-made vintage guitar listed for $599. They barely offered me $200 for an almost identical guitar (same year, same condition) and claimed that “$200 is what they go for.”
Only reason I’m rating two stars instead of one is because they do have a good variety of instruments.
