Great facility to work your music at. Friendly professionals that know how to bring the best out of a project. Will definitely bring more things there to be done and tell my friends to do so also.
Awesome!!!
Great work on different setup with recital. Use of video taping each students performance.
The employees I dealt with have no sense of what makes a good musician. They cussed me out on the phone before I even got there when I had to reschedule for a family emergency. Do not give this illegitamate company with unprofessional staff your money.

I searched all over for locations where I could take piano lessons for a reasonable price, but I was unable to locate any. Of course, I was looking for a location that would help me fulfill a lifetime desire of learning to play the piano, not just one that would fit within my budget. When I was looking on Google, I found this website called “”Piano Lesson Sheet Music.”” I was initially apprehensive to visit this location because there were no reviews. But damn, you have to try new things in life.
I was looking for affordable piano lessons everywhere, I couldn’t seem to find any places that fit my budget. Of course I didn’t just want a place that fit my budget, but a place that’s worth my time and will help me learn my lifelong dream of learning to play piano. When I was google searching I came upon this place “Piano Lesson Sheet Music.” At first I was hesitant to check this place out, because there was no reviews. But I thought to myself “Dammit you have to try new things in life.” So I called and a lovely lady named Laura Hoffman picked up, she was very sweet and urged me to come check out her lessons. I went for my first free lesson to see if this place was legit. This place is beyond amazing, Mrs.Hoffman is so sweet and is a very great teacher. From the moment I walked in through her basement studio, it felt like if I was at my own home. She made me feel very comfortable, and has amazing patience when she teaches. I urge everyone to check this place out immediately. Mrs.Hoffman is a professional, as soon as you leave your first piano lesson you’ll be eager to come back and learn more. What are you waiting for? Call and check this place out now!
5. Friendly School of Folk Music
Address: 6731 Roosevelt Rd, Berwyn, IL 60402 , Berwyn , Illinois , United States
Everyone at this school is genuinely caring and seem happy to see you every time you walk in the door. The instructors are all so talented themselves! As soon as you walk in the door music is playing, through the speakers and behind closed doors. The vibe is upbeat and welcoming. Definately the best music school around!
Awesome instructors!
Stayed in the awesome Airbnb apartment next to the music school. Great apartment. Awesome coffee shop downstairs. Wonderful hosts.
6. Saxophone lessons
Address: 3101 Oak Park Ave, Berwyn, IL 60402 , Berwyn , Illinois , United States
I’ve gone here since I was a teenager and always had the best experiences. Very glad to have this shop around.
Came in for a set up and re string. Excellent service here. Quick turn around.
I bought a G&L 1997 legacy from them. Was described as MINT! The guitar was good condition. Dings all over guitar and one dent. Shipped, in a 6 dollar case. Packed well shipped in time. Made a 3 star review on Reverb. No response. Tried to phone numerous times after I received guitar.
Bad coustuner service
9. Friendly Tap
Address: 6733 Roosevelt Rd, Berwyn, IL 60402 , Berwyn , Illinois , United States
Great place to grab a drink and listen to some live local music!
Great little friendly place
Come by on sunday
And try Midge’s signature

This review has nothing to do with the Friendly Tap itself because it’s a nice place. I parked and got out of my car and was walking pass on 8/17/19. A middle aged caucasian man was entering this tavern at 9:53pm and assaulted me a female by elbowing me in my side as I walked to Gina’s for no reason at all. Not sure if he was having bad night but sir never put your hands or elbow in your case on a female or anyone else if they didn’t touch you. It’s a public side walk and open to everyone. I started to call the police but wouldn’t bring that type of negative attention to your business. Instead I chose to pray for the ignorant gentleman and let everyone else in Tavern enjoy there drinks without the police entering the building.
Friendly staff, average liquor selection with ok prices the setup is like going back in time to the 70s but in a good way, the live music on the tiny stage was really cool! If you want nostalgia go here!!!
It’s all in the name!
Stopped in here for a couple drinks with friends. It’s a very old place, a little run down, with mainly locals for their clientele it would seem. The drinks were average priced but very weakly poured IMO. The men’s room has just a toilet and the sink is outside the bathroom in the bar area which is kind of strange. The bartender was friendly though 🙂

11. Berwyn School of Music
Address: 6519 W 26th St, Berwyn, IL 60402 , Berwyn , Illinois , United States
I absolutely love this school and cant highly recommend this place enough. Everything about this place is professional, pro equipment, pro teachers , and the environment so well kept and inviting. I can’t imagine a more perfect place , i love that it’s local and that they teach a wide range of things, im currently taking drum classes and music production classes and love them both
My son has been coming to Berwyn School of Music for almost 8 months, and he has really enjoyed his lessons with his instructor. Ritch Valdez is very patient and takes the time to get to know each of his students on a personal level. He was able to connect with my son on his taste of music, and with that, was able to teach him how to play his electric guitar. Jack Bomher is a great coordinator and is able to work with me and our crazy personal schedule. They are very flexible and were able to accommodate on days we were not able to make it. Great environment for the kids to enjoy and feel they can achieve and bring out their inner artistic potentials. Amazing friendly staff, they make you feel at home. We’ve enjoyed our time spent here.
Great local place to get coffee or drinks, see live music, and hang out with friends. Staff is super friendly and welcoming. Will be back!
Absolutely lovely
Love this place. Hate to exaggerate but Rob there is great. The coffee and bagels tasted so good. Than we went over for bloody Mary’s next door just to see Rob make us some spectacular adult beverages. Had great conversation with Ramon and Jennifer there at the bar and look forward to going back regardless of the 30 minute drive.
This place is a good walk from our house. I get a little exercise, a decent coffee and read a bit before walking home. They sell snacks and drinks too.
Vegetarian options: They sell bananas, perhaps other fruit, in addition to baked goods.
Cool digs just wish they put more effort into the coffee bar. Limited selection, no decaf, little dairy alternatives, giant iced beverage sizes and often staff seem annoyed to leave the bar to make coffee or smoothies. Feels like I’m bothering them. Potentially too many ideas in one but could be the best shop in town with more effort.
I usually frequent this place sometimes but I’ve noticed that black folks are not really welcomed!! Not good when I live in the neighborhood also. Just saying. It’s 2022 now okie dokie. Bye
Would have given 5 stars if the cafe area was not suddenly closed around 6 pm without any announcement, while it says on google that they are open till 3 am. It’s a great place but the closing move was otherwise a shame.
15. Pure-Grooves
Address: 2521 Kenilworth Ave, Berwyn, IL 60402 , Berwyn , Illinois , United States
Vince at Pure-Grooves is absolutely the best and there’s no need to have anyone else service your audio equipment. Right away you will see how knowledgeable, passionate and most importantly honest he is! Thank you again Vince for the excellent service you provided on my 1980’s B&O turntable.
Highly recommend Vince @Pure-Grooves and will definitely be coming back for future tune ups and services when needed
Great job repairing my Sansui QR-6500 receiver
Brought Vince 10 albums for ultrasonic cleaning. Some of my favorite and most cherished LPs. Vince handled them with care and they play like new again (perhaps even better!). Turnaround time was also incredible. Just about 24 hours. Highly recommend.
16. Kagan and Gaines Music Co., Inc
Address: 7655 Roosevelt Rd, Forest Park, IL 60130 , Berwyn , Illinois , United States
Amazing place to buy musical equipment or instruments at a comfortable price. Has outstanding inventory in musical sheets, instruments and/or musical gear.
The friendly staff and private lessons which you can take allow for you to feel comfortable and safe!
Very professional place
Best music retailer in the area, bar none!
Instruments (especially violins & all string instruments) new, used and serviced, band, guitars/basses, keyboards, percussion and sound systems…whatever you need, plus books, accessories – and the most accomplished teachers and instructors you’ll find anywhere.
All that, along with classes and workshops…
Great place!
I have had great success with Kagan.& Gaines..
Since my daughter started Violin back in 2006
They were able to help me with a 1/2 size , a 3/4 violin and now my daughter is in a full size French made violin.
Excellent service and knowledge of violins.
They have helped my daughter become the great young violinist she is, as this is where it all started for my Alexis.
Having a great selection of violins to choose from.
Really great staff, knowledgable and well stocked.
Unfortunately I won’t be able to justify shopping there any longer for my business because their three day return policy and extremely limited store hours make it difficult to get back over there within the period.
(I’m unwilling to pay a 20% restocking fee for unopened cables)
Hate to say it because I wish my business was going to an independent store rather than the corporate or online big boxes.
45 dollars for an on the spot (30 min) electric guitar restring, minus the price for the strings, is a little steep, folks. I appreciate the good work, but I can get the same treatment for a lot less at A Sound Education off Ogden.
I hate to agree with the user below who complained of a dishonest experience, but we are going through the same. I’ve read all of the other 5 star reviews and notice a pattern: it seems that for violin and stringed instruments, this is a great place. For renting brass/woodwind instruments via their monopoly with the school districts, they are subpar and dishonest. We should have just purchase a used instrument which would have resulted in us obtaining a superior instrument at, I am not exaggerating, 1/4 the total cost. We just had to call them to stop processing our credit card when we noticed we had been paying an abnormally long time on my daughter’s VERY USED, VERY DENTED saxophone (4 years!). We were “reassured” that, coincidentally, they were just going to call us as well as our payments happened to be completed. Yet they have no records of all the payments that we made, and are asking us to provide payment records going back to 2017 to “prove” how much we have paid in total. Luckily for us, we can easily provide them as they have all been made on the same credit card for years. We are also disputing the amount owed as our daughter’s original “nicer” model saxophone broke, was taken in for repairs, and she was given a loaner, student-model, older and dented sax. Her other one was never repaired and instead she’s just had this one forever. We were told at the time it would be “worked out.” Now they want us to pay the same amount as they were going to charge for the initial instrument to keep this replacement instrument permanently, as they also claim to have NO record that any switch was ever made or that the original saxophone was ever brought in for repairs. Typically, I endeavor to support neighborhood shops, but not when their record keeping is straight out of Mayberry. This is taking a lot of our time and energy to sort out, and we’ve ultimately laid out over $2300 to own an instrument that I have found at multiple music stores online for around $600 and under. We understand that renting the own is typically more expensive, but this feels like being swindled in every way. Extremely disappointed. My husband has been playing music for over 40 years – he also used to play saxophone – and his mother is a professional classical musician. He is used to dealing with all sorts of music shops and has never had an experience like this one.
This organization is amazing with a true commitment to providing music and teaching music to the community. With an exceptional group of people working together to achieve this mission.
19. Danche Guitar Co.
Address: 7232 Madison St, Forest Park, IL 60130 , Berwyn , Illinois , United States
Didn’t go there yet but it’s nuce to know where it’s located. Thanks.
Ordered online. Guitar arrived quickly. Great customer communication.
I brought in my acoustic guitar, which had a large and growing crack in its top edge. I thought it was irreparable, to be honest. Danche repaired it and now it’s like new. It’s hard to tell it was ever damaged. Real craftsmanship!
This was just a tragic experience… The gentleman was very nice and said my guitar would be ready by Saturday/Sunday. I said I’d love it if it were ready on Saturday because I was singing kids songs in the morning Sunday. I’m sure it WAS ready Saturday, but unfortunately the woman responsible for calling me did not do so correctly, as I received no message or missed calls. When I checked in on Wednesday, the woman over the phone said that she did call me and that I didn’t check my messages. I informed her that I did check, but there was no message. Rather than apologizing or taking responsibility for misdialing or simply forgetting, she responded annoyed, “check again, because I did call and you do have a message.” I hung up and went ahead to check all of my missed calls and messages… Nothing. When I arrived shortly after in the store, there was no mention of it and no attempt at responsibility.
My kids enjoyed the friendly dog and my guitar is fixed by the nice gentlemen. Unfortunately, I won’t be coming back to this store because the woman was unnecessarily condescending and stubborn.
what he lacks in person to person customer service skills, he makes up for with quality work. this man can bring dead guitars back to life. he can fix ANY stringed instrument.
prices reasonable to high, but worth it.
friendly and cute dog too!
I paid $65 to have a brand new Squire Telecaster set up. This is a fair price and he did a great job. It was ready when he said it would be.
The owner acts like he’s doing you a favor talking to you like you’re an idiot. Don’t be fooled into thinking he must know his stuff. There are plenty of better, cheaper and nicer techs available at most any Guitar Center. Waste of money and time.
terrible experience …..
wouldnt even give me a receipt for work supposedly done ….guitar gallery is where I should have went ….should be no star
My son walked into Danche Guitars on
Madison street today and was berated by the owner for coming into the store and looking around at the guitars while being on the phone. He was incredibly rude to him at one point asking him if he was carrying a gun-
1. On a very basic level treating the people coming into your store with respect and kindness EVEN if they are not living up to your standards of politeness is a given. Every person that walks into your shop is someone there who could have gone to a million other places- but they walked into your store. And they may never buy anything there- but just like my mom always said you never know who you’re talking to- there was no way Danche would have known that he was yelling at one of his customers children. I’ve purchased repairs and and other accessories from Danche before.
2. I bet my son will never walk into a store on the phone again- (which i can’t say I’m not glad about) and he’s learned that lesson and will have better manners next time. But I’m VERY disappointed in how this interaction went down and wish at the least an elder member of society could have taken this moment to politely teach a young man a lesson in manners instead of making him feel so unwelcome.
3. I never want to blame things on race- If I wasn’t there to observe for myself, But I also don’t want to be ignorant of the challenges my son – as a mixed race individual- may be up against. I still hope that this wasn’t a factor and Danche was just being indiscriminately rude-
4. danche mentioned that it’s “all you kids these days” that have no respect etc etc. so apparently if race wasn’t an issue- discrimination based on age is alive and well.
5. He kept likening My sons rudeness for being on the phone to him walking into someone’s home….. newsflash danche- your public storefront guitar store is not a home. It just isn’t. The same rules do not apply in the general population wether you want them to or not.
6. I have bought things from Danche before-I had a pleasant experiences there. And the funny thing about it- is I was on the PHONE while I was in there too!! I had a call I had to take. Im having a really hard time seeing what the difference is between me walking in on the phone and my son walking in on a phone call. Except our obvious demographic differences…..
I wasn’t there- so I can’t speak for everything that happened- but I feel like there was definitely a sense that Danche overreacted at the very least. And I was very disappointed to hear my son so upset over how he was treated when he went in to price out and buy his first guitar. Something I wish would have been a good and encouraging experience for him.
I will not be buying here in the future unless this is met with a sincere apology.
20. Tele-Tron Ace Hardware
Address: 6604 Cermak Rd, Berwyn, IL 60402 , Berwyn , Illinois , United States
George was the greatest help and went out of his way to help me!
Very helpful people
We needed a rake and a couple of other things. The store is well organized. Things are in their place. There is plenty of help. In case you need something.
If you need anything dealing with hardware, Ace is the place to go.
Pue nomás saqué copias de llaves si está bien gracias
Second time I’ve come at opening and nobodies here. It’s still closed.
