DG Manager Chelsea in eastaboga is awesome she went out of her way and helped me. The staff there is very friendly and patient and helpful and the store is clean and organized.
Dollar general in Coldwater is so pleasant to walk into. They are usually busy but still manage a smile to welcome everyone.
Had what I needed
Is pretty consistent in having the same general products at every location
Staff members are very helpful and friendly
They don’t have anything on the shelves everything is in the isle you can’t get down!! I will drive to the one in Oxford before coming to this one again!!
Cashier had piercings and he was a boy not ok in my book
Most cluttered up I have ever seen in al the years it has been open. Empty boxes everywhere buggies of stock sitting in the aisles

4. B&C Music
Address: 314C Billy B Dyar Blvd, Boaz, AL 35957 , Bynum , Alabama , United States
The lady was very helpful considering I had never purchased a musical instrument before.
Has variety of instruments and types of music. Carrie is a bubbly personality there
Nice folks
Eeeeh
Awful place with cheap brands and overpriced / broken used instruments.
I felt watched and rushed. Two women were working there that day, one was very friendly. I did not feel comfortable asking questions and also it was so hot in there.
this place is burnt!
5. Art’s Music Shop, Inc
Address: 4647 US-280, Birmingham, AL 35242 , Bynum , Alabama , United States
Everything a student needs to sharpen their craft.
Great staff and they have layaway!
Great experience grabbing a new sax mouthpiece. Ask for Tully for the best help and make sure you bring your sax to try out the top brands in the store.
Friendly & knowledgeable but took longer than expected to get instrument serviced. I was told would be called the next day with estimate, & it was 3 days before I received the call. I told them I had to get instrument back by a specific date for a performance, he said “not a problem”, I was calling them to get it back 4 days before performance, & was able to pick it up the day before it. They kept it for a month, & I was never able to speak directly to guy doing service which was not cheap. Don’t be in a hurry when dealing with them!
Wonderful customer service
It’s nice that stores like Art’s are still around.
Late or Cello repairs, They had my Cello for 2 days to reset the bridge (takes 15 mins) I had to pick it up and do it my self.
I laid way electric drum set I paid it off in 3 months when I came to pick up my drum set they gave me the display set on the floor they didn’t even bother to clean it and and dumped everything in the box and hand it to me, when I got home I was very disappointed so I called them and they said this is what you purchased. After long talk to their manager they decided to give us a new one. And send me a card for customer satisfaction to know how they treated me. If you’re planning to Layaway anything make sure to tell them I wanted to be a brand new never used and when you buy it open it in the store to make sure you get what you pay for.
BEWARE!!!!! ALL THEY WANT IS YOUR MONEY. My son was suppose to attend a camp. I rented the merchandise on May 31. Was told he would not be able to attend. Called the shop back June 2 explaining how he would not be able to attend. They would not let me speak with management. Took the merchandise back to the shop on June 3. The staff stated that I could not return unless I pay the minimum rental fee of 4 months before I returned. The instrument was never used or open. Brought back in 4 days and still received poor service. I will not be referring this music shop to any parents. Now I’m out of thousands of dollars and my child hasn’t even touched the instrument.
I have had Allyson as a teacher for about 5 years. I can not recommend her enough. She is exceptionally talented not just at the piano, but at teaching – she meets each student where they are, helping each person reach levels of mastery at reading and playing music that they didn’t think possible. Her approach is holistic to say the least – meaning she teaches the functional skills (reading music, playing piano) but also helps you overcome any challenges to your growth in piano playing based on mindset, physical posture/form and even time management. Beyond that, she is a lovely person and each lesson is a breath of fresh air.
Allyson is amazing and has been virtually teaching my son since 2020. She now lives out of state. My son looks forward to and enjoys his lessons so much. He has grown at incredible lengths with all the knowledge that Allyson has to share.
I was not sure if learning to play the piano was possible at 40yrs old. Allyson has been amazing. She structures the lessons based on my progress and has helped me work through things I struggle with. Even early in lessons she helps prevent you from developing habits that would hurt your progress in later lessons. I have been loving my experience learning to play the piano with her.
7. Homewood Musical Instrument Co
Address: 1712 28th Ave S, Homewood, AL 35209 , Bynum , Alabama , United States
Take your instruments to Jason Burns at Homewood Music. I brought in a 25 year old Martin D-15 that needed some love and he made it play like it was fresh off the factory line. Incredible craftsmanship.
Best!
Good product, Good service.
Friendly atmosphere and lots of instruments.
I’ve never dealt with someone so rude over the phone. The owner tried to guilt me with sarcasm and acted like victim when I questioned a price. Full story: I asked to order a cello string. All was going well (owner answered questions about speed of shipping and availability of the string), but then he quoted a price ($81) that was far above what other shops charge. I said respectfully that “I’ve purchased the string for $45 at other walk-in shops” and he became sarcastic and argumentative with me, claiming he was “holding my hand” through the process, and said “Well, I have to pay $35 for this string so what do YOU think is fair for ME to make? $15? What is 35 + 15, huh? Ohhh, maybe $50 is more than you can afford?” A simple, “well this is my price” would have been fine as a response from him, but I felt disrespected so I hung up and decided I’m never going to spend a dime Homewood Musical Instrument Co. I advise everyone else to steer clear of this shop and the guy who owns it.
8. Bailey Brothers Music Company
Address: 4673 US-280 Suite # 7, Birmingham, AL 35242 , Bynum , Alabama , United States
The people at Bailey Brothers are so nice and helping people
Super nice store full of super helpful people. I visited this location three times in one day, as I was undecided and trying to deal with the idiots at Guitar Center, and each time, a really nice gentleman, Erskine, helped me. He went back, spent the time finding the guitar I was after, took it out of the box even when I wasn’t for sure on buying it, and tuned it for me. Ultimately, his attitude, kindness, and knowledge was what sold me on my guitar. After the run around at Guitar Center, he was just what I needed. Thank you so much!
Purchased a Les Paul Bass here years ago– still enjoying it.
Thank you BB Music.
Usually get good service, but I took my guitar nut to be repaired after my guitar took a spill. I let them know the guitar had fallen and hoped they would fix. The nut was replaced poorly but the guitar had a buzz. Took it back 2 more times. The last visit, the person in charge of the repair (2 weeks later)said I had heavy fingers and raised the stings to a height that made the guitar unplayable. I took to another repair shop and they repaired the nut replaced by Bailey Brothers found a couple of uneven frets repaired the frets adjusted the neck and had to re-setup the guitar from the disaster repair at Bailey Brothers. If in need of repairs I will never return to this store.
This place is awesome, need customer service? DONE! Need a repair? DONE! Need to place an order? DONE! The only thing I did not like was the lack of extended range instruments. You will not be finding fanned fret, 28 fret, tap guitar, etc. You want those go to WARR guitars or order them off of a musicians website.
good staff well organize not bad products
I came in here the other day and they were incredibly overbearing and checked in on me every 30 seconds. From the second I walked in they were all up in my face and insisted on providing an address and phone number whenever I paid which I fully expect to be sold somewhere. I don’t know if they’re struggling to keep the lights on or something but the amount of customer service was way too much and came across as pushy and rude. Literally just let me shop.
I left my guitar with this store in February 2012 for a simple repair. In June it was still hanging waiting for them to repair. I had been told on multiple occasions that it would be ready in just a few days. I picked it up today June 24, 2012 and no repair has been done and I was still charged a bench fee. This place sucks. I will never go in there again. Good luck if you do.
Waited 15 minutes for someone to help me but instead was ignored. Ended up leaving empty handed. I literally just needed drumsticks and the person at the front was aware. Will never go back.
Convenient location, friendly service. Prices lower than walmart on same items.
Fast friendly service store was stocked and clean
Ok
Always a pleasant experience
Abit messy but had everything we needed.
Employees untrained…store has txt for 1.00 off any purchase…got code while in store…employees make excuses about use blame on website etc..when all they had to do is say don’t know how…also store is in violation of ADA act..store dirty, floors nasty..floats boxes blocking asle…this is NOT a 1 time issue..fire exit is blocked with merchandise…store messy over all stock on floors… employee turn over rate is high.
Always crowed, unpacked or out
It appears that this DG believes in only having one line checkout. Its very slow checking out.

14. COMMUNITY THRIFT STORE
Address: 2749 Coldwater Rd, Anniston, AL 36201 , Bynum , Alabama , United States
This is a new favorite local dg to me now! They have so much more of a selection thank any other by far! And the sm is just so sweet and politely sweet!
Great people
Perfecto para compra pequeña
Variety of items at great prices
Good
This dollar General is higher priced on items of other area stores.
Pricing on floor not reflecting prices at register, not because of high tax, many aren’t realizing and it’s taking from the customer. Modular maintenance needs taking effect.
Store was empty. Shelves were bare.
16. Jasper Music
Address: 52 N Walston Bridge Rd suite 104, Jasper, AL 35504 , Bynum , Alabama , United States
Nicholas is an exceptionally versatile musician and is extremely dedicated to the musical progression of his students!
If you’re looking for a professional music service in Northwest Alabama, look no further. Nick is knowledgeable, professional and is a fantastic instructor. He has the uncanny ability to listen to, understand and then focus on the goals of you, the student.
I have also taken several instruments to Nick to be worked on, from a string change to a full set up on a new instrument. He has also repaired several that I’ve been a little rough with.
All in all, whether you’re looking for a lesson or just want to find a new piece of gear, this is the place to go!
Highly recommend! Nick is a great music instructor and very knowledgeable in instrument repair. Great selection in accessories and instruments as well.
The music store had the banjo strings I needed.
17. Redbox
Address: 44399 AL-21, Munford, AL 36268 , Bynum , Alabama , United States
Friendly staff..always willing to help you find your item.
Quick service
This store is poorly ran. The clerks are much more concerned about checking in vendors when there are 6 or 7 customers waiting in line. Never any apology for a long wait. Semis like an inconvenience to check people out at register? ? Wish I had better things to say. Sorry but someone needs to look into the way things are handled here.
Usually they have what I need, but since the virus, shelves sometimes go empty. For example, they ran short of coffee filters this week. The workers are nice people who put the customer first.
It was very hot
I believe they had no air conditioning
I felt bad for the employees
The last time I went in wasn’t a very nice shopping trip. The store had several people standing in line to be waited on, the phone at store rings a staff worker stops helping the person he was ringing up and went to looking for a cane with butterflies on it. I brought it to his attention there was customers standing in line waiting to be help so we could go home, he ignored me as if I hadn’t said a word. Solution would been take number of person who lost cane and look for cane after he waited on people standing there watching him act as if someone feel in parkingot needing an ambo..did he come back and check out the rest of the people standing in line? NO!!!!! I got waited on finally by other young boy. So I go back in store and he still running around like chicken with its head cut off. I said excuse me, excuse me, hey excuse me! He finally stop turned around and said yes? I ask what is your name, at this point in time you’d thought I’d got im sorry ma’ma, I didn’t wait on you, forgive me for my scattered brain, but no apologies ever crossed his lips, he said his name was keegan, might been real name not sure but that was name he gave..I had 4 of the customers thank me for bringing to his attention, what he did but real sure he didn’t care
It was dirty and very un organized. Won’t go back
Rude horrible mgr dude.
20. Highland Music
Address: 3000 Clairmont Ave, Birmingham, AL 35205 , Bynum , Alabama , United States
Great selection, very reasonable prices. Picked up a wonderful amp at a price that can’t be beat. Highest recommendation!
Harold Has been working on my guitars for years. Always get a great deal.
Manager Tom was able to restring my mandolin the same day. Left two guitars to string tomorrow
Great selection of guitars. Staff is knowledgeable !!!
This store has a modest inventory with some great guitars in it. They are “priced at market” with almost no flexibility on pricing. The only issue I ran into was pricing guitars and amps at the high side of Reverb and Ebay regardless of condition. If the listings are $600 for sale online (but selling for $450 in mint condition) and Highland has a similar item in good condition but missing a knob or backplate, the Highland price will likely still be $550-$600. That said, the employee was nice and fairly knowledgeable when he had time for a quick question. Overall, a good place to check for 1-off and unique guitars but don’t expect a “steal” or to haggle. That just ain’t gonna happen here.
Cool selection of stuff, lots of vintage amps and guitars
Pretentious and overpriced….typical music store snobbery
Won’t ever visit again! No greetings, no nothing. I was in the store about ten minutes and no one ever acknowledge it. I was referred to this place by the guy in Homewood music shop but he could’ve saved the breath he use cause nothing was worth driving to this store for!!
