I’ve had no issues here. I buy my coffees at McDonald’s in the mornings, I go to so many McDonald’s. So far I haven’t had any issues at this place.
It macadees
If you’re expecting it to look like the picture on the menu you will be disappointed.
We just sat in the car
Small town McD and the people know my name. Sort of joking. I only really get one thing, for myself. I’ll do food for other people (outside a rare craving for over greasy and salty fries) they have nothing I eat. All in all… it is consistent.
I went thru the drive thru yesterday april 5th about 430. I ordered a 2 cheese burger meal with no mustard. I got my food and left. Ate my fries on the way to rockord. When i got where i was going i pulled out a cheeseburger an unwrapped and went to take a bite. As soon as I took the bite I thought something was funny and I open the bun and they forgot to put the Patty on my cheeseburger, i then opened the other cheeseburger I ordered and it too did not have a patty. Just bread ketchup cheese and pickle. Like how hard is your job that you forgot the damn Patty on two cheeseburgers. This is by far the worst McDonald’s I have ever been to and I will not be going back ever and I’ll make sure that everybody else I know will know about it if they already don’t know how bad they are
Very ssssllllloooowwww service
The store was very dirty. The service was great, but the food was not so much. Let’s just say 3 of us did not feel good the next day. I will not eat there again. Oh and the fish sandwich is half the size now but it’s still the same price.
4. Oregon Music Garage
Address: 1000 W Washington St, Oregon, IL 61061 , Byron , Illinois , United States
Owner was very nice to chat with. It’s a very nice made new building. It reminds me of a fire station, but the owner constructed at himself. They have everything from $30 ukuleles all the way up to almost 10 grand guitars. Cool to see small music stores, making it in the small towns.
What a fantastic shop! John really knows his musical instruments, especially Ukeleles and Guitars. Great store, make sure to stop by the Ukelele Station America. Love this place!!
5. Sweetbean Cafe & Bakery
Address: 114 S Franklin St, Byron, IL 61010 , Byron , Illinois , United States
A great local place with staff that is always super sweet and over the top nice and helpful!!!! Absolutely amazing!!
This place is ALWAYS hoppin! We call ahead to order and our items are fresh and AMAZING! The staff is kind and happy to be there. The energy bites are a favorite…. and the Smores cold foam cold brew. EVERYTHING we have ordered has been delicious. Cute place and cozy atmosphere.
Great place that’s a super cute local coffee shop. And great drinks and really nice mugs available to buy too.
The sweetbean is Gonna be my go to local coffee shop now. Going to try the take home jugs of coffee next time!
I’m all about supporting local, but when it takes 20-30 minutes to get a simple iced latte every morning, I’ll probably start going elsewhere. Staff is mostly friendly, just slower than molasses.
Parking: Terrible parking options
Folks were very friendly and accommodating. The deserts were great.
Great cup of coffee and cookies to go with it!
Extremely slow service, cookies were so stale & had no flavor at all except for the taste of margarine. There was a baby crawling around in the work area. The coffee was not that great unfortunately, not a whole lot of dimension in the flavor 🙁
If this bag of coffee is any indication, I’d avoid buying their coffee. Worse than Folgers. Tastes like chemicals. Mislabeled and was already ground up (not whole bean), so who knows maybe the coffee was already very stale.
The coffee shop looks cute tho. I wish I had a better experience.
I went in today to pick up an overpriced treat for someone who was very nice to me. I was in line, in my electric wheelchair and waited patiently. Watching a baby crawling around on the floor in the work area, the manager (?) picked up the baby and was taking care of the nice woman in front of me. I was ready to give my order when a young lady walked around my wheelchair and the manager ignored me and took care of the lady who cut in line!!!?
How do you not see a person in a wheelchair?!
This is not a good representation of the great people who live in Byron. No excuses… I left crying…
6. The Cave
Address: 113 W 2nd St, Byron, IL 61010 , Byron , Illinois , United States
Great pub food and good service. Nice drink selection
First time back since the fire. WOW! The bar was good, the outdoor patio was fantastic. We ordered a couple of burgers and some cheese curds. The food was great and the beer was cold. Abby was our server, she has been with the Cave for three weeks and did great.
Good food. Great service. Clean establishments. We will be back!
Nice little bar…lots of tvs.. great burgers.. friendly staff!
Typical small town bar
Pretty good food overall. Burgers aren’t the same from back in the day but I’m not complaining, I’ll still head in for a burger fix when I’m around town.
Beware: Watch your tabs as there are “add on” fees. To toss your wings they charge you $.05. If you have chicken strips, they charge you $.50 for your dipping sauce. Guess they want you to eat plain chicken!!! Never saw this before when ordering chicken anywhere.
Food was decent but expensive. Had a bogo free type coupon. 2 burgers, 2 cokes, 1 chz fry basket came to 24 $ and change . Waitress claimed the discount was applied after I questioned the bill. Something smelled fishy with her explanation about the non existent discount. Will not return.
Poor service. We got our drinks right away, but ten minutes later we were still waiting to order. Three girls behind the bar visiting with each other. They did ask the six other people in the bar if they needed anything else, but made no attempt to ask for our order. Weezy’s across the street appreciates our business!
7. Randee’s Music
Address: 4116 Morsay Dr, Rockford, IL 61107 , Byron , Illinois , United States
This is the best music store in the tri-country area. Randee himself is easy to work with and a great owner, and Tim and Isaac, the guitar-side techs, are both knowledgeable and immeasurably friendly. It’s a lovely walk-in-and-play store with a clean, polished storefront and the best selection of acoustic guitars for a hundred miles. I can’t recommend it enough or say enough good things.
I go here quite often for (piano) books and sheet music. Every time I’m there, I love spending some time playing the wide variety of acoustic and digital pianos they have. Joel and John have been informative and very helpful with understanding the differences between pianos, how they work, etc.
They have no problem if you play their pianos for awhile. One of the biggest reasons I go here for all my piano needs!
Their prices are always competitive and they have many great deals on books. I’ve tried comparing their prices to Amazon, eBay, and other online stores but the prices are the same if not lower.
I was recommended here by my tutor Shari Pape.
Very knowledgeable and helpful.
Great place for all of your guitar needs!
Well, I purchased a Gibson guitar on line from Randee’s. It came somewhat damaged, but it had to to do with Gibson. The nut on the guitar was bad.
Here is the catch, this was bad from the get go, so the either did not inspect the guitar, or just past the problem to me.
I had to pay 2 in shipping to get the repair. I am waiting to see how good the repair will be.
Yet, to be satisfied.
In trying to deal with Randee’s online I can sum the experience up like beating your head up against a brick wall. They are fine, I’m sure, if you don’t have any needs outside their “antiquated brick and mortar style policies” but if your needs require tailoring or more flexibility FORGET IT!
I tried working with Aaron at Randy’s around the purchase of a Kamaka Tenor. The discussions and conversations were great when my needs seemed just like everyone else’s. But when it came time to deal with certain implications of delivery [and the rigidity of my wife’s and my busy 3rd shift schedules] there was no spirit of compromise, nor any want to do anything outside their idea of what should and shouldn’t be done. For example, they require a signature on the delivery via FedEx…which, of course, I understand [especially with the transaction happening within paypal] HOWEVER at the value of the instrument, one could select “indirect” signature and allow for someone to accept the package on my behalf. Yet they were not willing to allow for indirect versus direct [and given that we would not be available in the hours that fedex would be here, that just doesn’t work]. Aaron suggested that I drive 30-40 minutes, out of our way, to go to the nearest FedEx hub where I could pick up the instrument…and if I wanted to do that, I would drive 90 minutes, instead, and buy a Kamaka that I could play beforehand, and take it home with me. Which, in this case, sale or no sale, I will…
…All Aaron would say is that, “I drive 30 minutes to work everyday”. First, I don’t know how his personal life relates to a consumer transaction. But, additionally, he doesn’t know the dynamics with which my family functions, nor should I have to explain WHY driving to pick up the instrument doesn’t work. After all, when paying $1,100, and getting “free delivery”, there shouldn’t be additional hoops to jump, or stipulations to meet. Contracts are easy – offer and acceptance.
This is the 21st century. There are a lot of people outside the scope of “black and white” who have need, demands, expectations beyond that of what the normal 9-5 crowd require. I’ve had countless stores I’ve bought from [as we are a very musical family] and these stores have accommodated us by allowing for indirect signatures. Retailers like these, who aren’t willing to be progressive or considerate should just keep their business within the confines of what they are comfortable – within their brick and mortar walls. Leave the practice of “progressive music retailing” to those who recognize the various needs of the market they’re reaching out to.
The prices are OUTRAGEOUS, their shipping is a joke, and everything is damaged. I’ve seen the EXACT SAME PRODUCTS at Guitar Center for about 2000 dollars CHEAPER! I will never be going to this place again. Guitar Centers service might suck, but at least you get QUALITY!
Not a bogus review. You guys did a GK-3 pickup install on my guitar and your tech left a passive aggressive note complaining about the install. Such a weird reaction to claim it’s a bogus review, glad I don’t go here anymore.
8. Hairy Cow Brewing Company
Address: 450 E Blackhawk Dr, Byron, IL 61010 , Byron , Illinois , United States
Holy cow! I mean Hairy Cow is fantastic. I loved the beers, the wood-fired pizza, and the atmosphere. Also, I saved room for dessert and had some delicious turtle cheesecake paired well with the Kyloe Coconut Porter. My fave beer was the American Hairy IPA paired well the Margherita pizza.
I can’t wait to enjoy the beautiful outdoor space on a warm day. Great space and views. I’ll definitely be back!
Great food and beers
Very good brews and cocktails along the Rock River in Byron. Easy to get to right off of IL Route 2 for motorcycles or bikes.
If you’re hungry they can make up a number of custom pizzas in a wood-fire oven.
Peach sangria great, pretzel great, pizza ok thought the crust should of been cooked more bottom was soft….
Fun place, cheese curds and pretzel really good. Brick oven jalapeño poppers pizza was excellent.
Great beer amd food
Despite the delicious pizza, and great cocktails and beer, and because of the lovely and attentive staff, I can not recommend going to Hairy Cow at this time. Despite orders to end indoor dining due to high Covid-19 rate in the area, HCB posted just this afternoon that indoor dining is available. It makes no sense to me, they have a large patio and a huge lawn and it is still quite nice outside. The owner is either placing his profits or his politics over the safety of his staff, his customers and his town. It’s a dang shame.
The wait is terrible and oh boy don’t even have me start on parking, good luck. Very small menu ok service.
To crowded. Would like to try the pizza.
