Friendly well stocked music store with great guitar/bass/ukulele repair and maintenance tech, lots of cool instruments, supplies and local art. Good selection of used instruments and they’ll sell yours on consignment! One of the best music stores anywhere, right in my neighborhood.
This shop is adorable! There are so many useful things for a musician including high quality instruments, strings, accessories and more. I also love the cute mugs, stickers and bags! Support local small business.
I took my bass guitar in for a restring and intonation issues. Gunner did a fantastic job at a very reasonable price. Will definitely bring my instruments there again. MAHALO Kindworks!
Spent $20 on gas to arrive 30 minutes before close and found out they were already closed….an update on hours would be appreciated.
Gavin is a great guy! He help revive my guitar to its former glory! Thank you Gavin!
Best music store on the island! They have been on island since 1978. If they don’t have what you need in store, they can usually get it in and match online prices when they can. Buy local, support family business. I am a big fan. Shout out to Collier, Allison, Alana, Chris and Gavin! Love you guys, Keep on rockin’ in the free world!
What a incredible shopping experience. So Gavin’s the guy. He didn’t just answer my questions, & point out what I was looking for.
This guy took TIME. Walked me through all my options, while juggling other customers- did a full music set up for me. Put me on a stool with a guitar, plugged me into a amp, mic & stand (the whole bit) and let me jam out so I could find exactly what I wanted/needed.
Nothing better than fantastic customer service AND leaving a store knowing the hundreds of dollars you just dropped, was your best purchase ever. Been having a blast all week rockin’ out thanks to Kailua Kona’s Music Exchange!

Friendly and knowledgeable service
These guys usually have what I need and their prices are reasonable. Great repair shop as well.
I’ve been here twice. The first time I stood off to the side, but in view of the clerk. I stood there for at least 15 minutes, while 2 different customers were attended to. I wasn’t even spoken to.
The next time I went in to buy some finger picks. I was spoken to, or maybe grunted at, while the attendant restrung an electric guitar.
I’ve had enough.
Although the store supposedly opens at 10:30 AM on weekdays, I arrived to this store at 11 AM and no one was inside and the lights were off.
Service was awful acted like I bothered them by asking questions about ukulele. I will buy somewhere else.

Amazing music store. Stopped in while we were in town and we were not disappointed.
These guys were very helpful and informative! Great selection of stuff including more modestly priced items when you can’t get their top-notch equipment. Mahalo!
John was really helpful and friendly when we visited from Canada. He explained why some things were frilly add-ons to my ukulele and others not (I purchased a tuner). The store has a beautiful range of ukuleles though not intimidating to shop at!
Best place on island for drummers
Good prices, good variety of gear. Guitars and amps a great value. Hard to find, keyboards are a bit dated. Knowledgeable staff, fun atmosphere. Great place for musicians.
They have knowledgeable staff and usually have what I’m looking for. If not, they give referrals.
Visited the store yesterday to buy 2 ukuleles. There were 2 customers ahead of me. Staff spent ample time with those customers and I waited patiently. I appreciated the attention that was given to them and I was looking forward to the same treatment. After 50 minutes (yes, 50 minutes), it was finally my turn. After speaking to me for 5 minutes, he excused himself to talk to the customer who just entered the store. I was dumbfounded. After a couple of minutes, when it was apparent that he did not want to help me, I left. I don’t know what I said or did, but it was clear that he didn’t value my time or wallet. I wasted a lot of time and he lost a sale.
7. Sacred Grounds Coffee Farm
Address: 82 Anoi Pl, Captain Cook, HI 96704 , Captain Cook , Hawaii , United States
Best place to stop for a good coffee and a breathtaking view.
Wonderful shop with excellent coffee. Bill is an outstanding person. Enjoyed our visit to Sacred grounds very much
Awesome coffee stunning views. Also, Bill the owner was such a great guy and hung out with us. He shared some of the homemade dark chocolate (he’s been perfecting his recipe), made from cacao beans grown on property. It was the best chocolate I’ve ever tasted. Thanks for sharing and being so welcoming Bill!
Stopped in to Sacred Coffee one morning after snorkeling down at Kapahukapu Beach. The place is absolutely beautiful with amazing views and a nice building. The owners were very kind and took us on a full a tour of the place while the coffee finished brewing. While we absolutely appreciated the experience, it doesn’t have all the typical coffee house offerings. I may have missed it, but there wasn’t a menu, and the only coffee offering was brewed coffee (the coffee is grown right out the door). Nothing wrong with any of that, it’s just not an order and go coffee place as we had expected.
OK I am fairly conflicted about this place.
The good: absolutely amazing coffee, chocolate, macadamia nuts. Relaxing atmosphere. Great views. Very nice owner.
The bad: The owner Bill, while very pleasant to chat with, ended up discussing religion quite a lot. To me, this is a bit of a faux pas for a business owner/a person in the service industry. It was a bit off-putting and uncomfortable as someone who is an atheist. As some others have mentioned in reviews it was almost “cult-like”. It wasn’t to the point of the owner pushing his beliefs on me, but he did inquire about my faith and share many religious experiences, which I found strange. I just wanted to have a coffee! I guess I should have been warned by all the signs etc. But I have never experienced something like this. Also, don’t go in expecting to grab a quick coffee and go – you’ll probably stay a while.
So… If you don’t mind discussing religion/philosophy for a while with someone you don’t know while drinking very good coffee, this is a fantastic spot!
Great views, super cute place. Service isn’t great. Got there at 12:45pm on a Wednesday, ordered and paid for a coffee, and sat down for the views. Then was told right after that they would be closing in 10 minutes for an hour long lunch. We came for the views, not for an Americano. He should’ve told us that before we ordered and paid but he didn’t seem to care. Will not be coming back, so many other coffee places on the island that actually want business.
Last October in our holiday to Hawaii we were Looking for a place for a good coffee and some morning tea with the kids. Wanted to go to the coffee shack however it was closed on the day.
When we arrived the response given to us by the owner was “I can do coffee, but I’m too tired to make food”. Given the cult like feeling amongst the other guests I think they were in the middle of a meeting that our kids rudely interrupted. He begrudgingly made coffee which was expensive and extremely average. We then went to McDonald’s; what would Jesus think? I think he would be disappointed in Bill.
I have no idea where these glowing reviews came from. It was an awful tour! William/Bill was very unhelpful in his tour of the farm – he had no idea what some of the fruits even were, let alone when they were ripe. The tour also only consisted of less than 5 minutes riding in a 4-wheel ATV – no information given about the plants during it.
The other thing that I feel needs to be mentioned is the cult-like feel of the place. Bill would use vague phrases to answer questions in a way that didn’t make any sense. For example, when asked how many acres on the farm, his reply was “it’s all Jesus’ domain”. Or when asked where tourists typically came from, he said “from divine intervention.” What? It definitely gave my husband and I the creeps. We couldn’t get out of there fast enough. The only positive thing I can say about the tour was that he picked us free fruit. Otherwise, unless you are very religious (Christian only), don’t go! There are so many other wonderful coffee places and tours to explore instead.
Mapquest sent us down a steep driveway where we had to turn around on private property. Finally found the place by asking someone. Went inside and commented about hard to find and turning around on private property and were berated for five minutes on what do not enter means on private property. What a way to treat customers. Needless to say walked out.

Amazing experience finding the best ukulele. The gentleman who helped us find the right one for my daughter made everything worthwhile and we bought the local Koa wood ukulele and walked out smiling, laughing and full of life.
I saw this little shop when I went to Hawaii and Kona always thought it would be nice to get a ukulele never knew that ukulele is one of the easiest instruments to learn
Great little spot with friendly folks who will answer all your ukelele questions.
Nice Ukuleles but a little pricy
I’m a tourist, guitarist interested in a 6 string uke, so I stopped in this store. The man running the store was nice, and recommended another store in town. Much like the “Santa?” From Macy’s, I respect the customer service.
I ended up going to Music Exchange.
A great souvenir stand, and they have a nice selection of decent, B grade, ukuleles. Their prices are fair, the instruments are lovely and more than adequate for all but serious musicians. Even they might choose one here for a knock-around, less than four figure player. Mahalo, from a 2018 buyer.
Was looking for a Hawaiian made ukulele and salesperson directed us to specific model assuring us without hesitation that this particular one was made in Hawaii, Oahu to be exact. The instrument had no source markings on its internal label so we (naively) took him at his word. Took it home only to find that no, it was not made in Hawaii, it was made in China. The company is a Hawaiian company but some of their instruments, this model in particular, aren’t actually Hawaiian made. Disappointed we were misled.
Huge disappointment. Purchased a ukelele this summer. Clerk made a big deal of tuning it for my daughter. We got it home, took it to a professional string educator and have been told it’s simply for looks. It’s poorly made, so there’s no way to fix it or tune it. The store should have told us this was just for decoration.
Doesn’t seem to exist anymore. Store is vacant. No idea if they’ve moved somewhere else or just another COVID casualty.
