Extremely well equipped music store. They provide excellent customer service and have the best teachers in town!
I came to Ace Drums in need of a new guitar cable. What I left with was a plethora of music/instrument related information and a new favorite music store. Everyone I’ve met so far has been welcoming, knowledgeable, helpful, and wildly amusing, all at the same time. Despite the name, there is no shortage of other instruments and accessories; a french horn was walking out the door as I was walking in for my guitar needs (to a “drum” store).
Pete went through an entire set up on my Les Paul and explained everything he was checking and why. I never had a bad job done at Guitar Center, but I’ve certainly never received that level of attention, especially when I wasn’t there to spend a lot of money. This was the least expensive (by far) and best done (also by far) set up I’ve had done on one of my guitars.
All-in-all, this is a true local community music store with lessons and repairs for almost ages (4-87, I believe), skill level, or instrument. If you’re local or even passing through, you should definitely stop by and support Ace Drums.
Man I love this shop the owner /manager Kenneth is a super great guy very informative and very knowledgeable.
Jud is a great guitar teacher
Very crowded and cramped. Lots of stuff for musical instruments..
Quick service, friendly owner. They offer repair on instruments- took about a week and the prices are reasonable. Good job on maintenance for my flute.
Take this experience for whatever it is worth. Needed some work done to my acoustic. Came in one day, the luthier was gone. No biggie, life happens. Was told the he will be back tomorrow. ‘Came in the next day, he is not there. Finally another day, called in to make sure the luthier is there, which he was. I told them I will be stopping by shortly. Came in within 20min, luthier is gone for the day. I am not sure what is up with with this shop. Good luck catching the guy at work.
Went in to buy a few small percussion instruments. 5 or 6 people chatting in the back. Waited 10 minutes at the register for someone to take my money. Got sick of being ignored and ordered twice as many instruments of similar type on Amazon for about the same price.
Hint, it’s not Amazon killing mom & pop shops.
Sadly this store is like most local music stores: over priced and having little options to choose from. The brands they have to offer are limited and they have almost none of the premier drum brands you come to expect from a good drum store. Their cymbal selection is dismal and their drumsticks are outrageous like $10-15 a pair! Since it’s the one of the only stores that’s local I’ve tried to be supportive, but I have run in to major issues. I first bought 500 dollars worth of high end SKB drum cases (which took almost 2 months for them to order) when they finally arrived the lining of the bass and tom case ripped in about 1 month. I was told by the owner they had a full warranty, but after nearly 2 months of the cases being at the factory for repair I was informed I had to pay $250 worth of shipping to get my “full warranty” “brand new cases” back! This was the owner of Ace Drums telling me this! I have multiple other stories of Ace Drum’s inability to do good, truthful, and fair business. I am a professional drummer who has played for 11 years and with over 100 different bands, and I make my entire living off of music! I would not suggest spending any of your hard earned money here!
3. Tim Goodman Music
Address: 200 Harbor Walk Dr, Punta Gorda, FL 33950 , Charlotte Harbor , Florida , United States
Great place would highly recommend always has something good
Good
Very knowledgeable and helpful.
I just got into collecting records and this place has a wide selection from vinyl, CD, dvds that you should find something you would like.
Great place to buy LP records, but the selection of 45’s are really low. Wish you’d get better inventory and ones with picture sleeves, than those ones on the shelf. Very friendly service. Good location off Tamiami Trail and good parking.
5. Fletcher Music Center Inc
Address: 1441 Tamiami Trail # 837, Port Charlotte, FL 33948 , Charlotte Harbor , Florida , United States
Fletcher Music has a very helpful and knowlegable staff. I started several years ago with the 6 lessons for $20. That was the best decision I have made! Perhaps it’s not for everyone. But investing $20 to try it out..hey you can’t go wrong. Stick with it, and you won’t regret it. You will learn, grow, improve memory, co coordination and make new friends along the way. I highly reccommend Fletcher Music Center of Port Charlotte!!
I have always wanted to learn to play the piano and keyboard but didn’t have the more flexible work hours previously like I have now to learn to play. I saw the sign at Fletcher Music Center in the Port Charlotte Town Center Mall that they had six lessons for $20. I inquired with the personnel as I figured it was $20 per lesson and was pleasantly surprised that it was $20 for the whole six weeks! I read and was advised that they provide a lifetime of lessons through the MusiClub once you buy a Lowrey organ through the Fletcher store. A couple weeks into the classes, and once I found out how easy they make it to be able to play beautiful music that I love, I knew my little Casio keyboard wasn’t going to be enough for me. I purchased one of the Lowrey virtual orchestra organs and it has changed my life! Whenever I’m stressed out, which is nearly every day in my line of work, I turn to my organ to play. I love the personnel and instructors at Fletcher who go out of their way to make my music hobby such a wonderful experience. And I’ve met a lot of new friends through the MusiClub. I can’t believe how far I’ve come in just a little over a year of playing, thanks to Fletcher! They have a student for life!
Really mean people over the telephone… don’t waste your time…
Extremely disrespectful, I have been a musician for about 9 or 10 years and yes I’m 17 but no I didn’t come in to cause trouble and touch things I don’t own. I know the price of an organ of such quality. that’s why I had ZERO shock when she said I don’t have to pay repairs on a $40,000 organ. I take one step in and I’m yelled at and completely disrespected by everyone in the store. I felt attacked and targeted. I’ve been a musician for a decade but because I’m a young adult I’m yelled at and disrespected. I’ve been producing music for over a year of my life and can arrange a full composition if I wanted to. I will never ever ever ever give even a cent to the scum that work there. If you’re young and a musician, do yourself a favor and avoid the prejudice you’ll face here.
Wouldn’t let you play the organs. Sorry, I don’t pay without playing.
6. Indigo Records
Address: 4140 Whidden Blvd # B, Punta Gorda, FL 33980 , Charlotte Harbor , Florida , United States
Best teacher I have ever had. Very good at motivating students. Teaches to the student. Studied for 4 years and plan to continue indefinitely.
An excellent teacher in incredible subjects, if your trying to learn piano in this area she is truly your best option.
My 6 year old son has been coming here for about a year. Mrs Butler is extremely patient and works so well with him. I would recommend Monarch Music Academy for anyone interested in learning how to read music and play piano.
9. Loan Star Pawn – Port Charlotte
Address: 3651 Tamiami Trail b, Port Charlotte, FL 33952 , Charlotte Harbor , Florida , United States
Very friendly staff and quick and professional will be returning
Very clean and organized place. Hooked up the power washer so we could test it out. Very friendly staff.
These guys are absolutely the best! Tammy and everyone else there have gone out of their way to help us every time I’ve been in the store. My family has suffered one financial blow after the other and no matter what the situation they’ve always been there and helped us. I’m definitely not accustomed to finding that kind of compassion at a pawn shop. It’s obvious that the employees genuinely care about their clientele and they’re not trying to take your stuff. Loan Star has won my loyalty for life and I’ll tell everyone that will listen. Thanks again guys. You’ve made a very difficult time in our life a little easier.
Happy with the service, but not too happy when I go in and get the Price of an item and come in a couple days later to get the item and the price tripled.
Great place to pick up or sell your goods.
A friendly staff but only got a quarter of the price for more then brand new power tool on a barrow. I understand they dont know me so cant blame them .
So I’ve been going here to pawn my laptop for a while now, done it several times with no issue. however, that is not the case this time. since I’ve picked it up this time, the laptop now gives me a warning every time I start it up, that it recommends that I use an hp battery (it’s an hp laptop) , even though there should be one in there since it’s a fairly new laptop and everything in it is factory. there should be no reason for this warning, yet now I’m getting it since I picked it up, and it has never shown the warning until now. That tells me that they tampered with it, STOLE my battery and put some random one in it. VERY unhappy about it. I called to tell them about it, but of course they denied it, but it’s clear that they did swap out my battery. They are a thieves!
WORST EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE TREATED ME DISRESPECTFUL AND RUDE NEVER AGAIN SAVE YOURSELF THE HEADACHE!
Obviously they hold grudges…dont piss them off or they wont help you
10. Broke ‘n Records Music & Pawn

Steve is great this place was awesome to go to if you have a passion for music and vintage stuff ! Don’t hesitate to go to broke’n records !!
They have a lot of cool stuff, great vinyls and an amazing staff! Will sure go back there soon.
Great service!! Sold my 3ds and got a wonderful and fair price! Will be back most definitely.
Cool store, cordial employees. Not a good place to sell your instrument. Only offer $250 max on anything. Website said they are interested in buying things of value. Avoid unless you are trying to get rid of a worthless old guitar.
An excellent place to buy vinyl and other gadgets. Just wish you’d have a much better selection of sleeved 45’s, besides those boxed dusty ones on the floor. Friendly service too. Good prices on LP’s.
Great place

Have been in quite a few times to purchase vinyl over the last few years and always had great interactions with the two younger guys. Stopped in recently to sell a few DVDs and while speaking to one of the younger guys, the owner came over and rudely lashed out at him for even considering buying them with zero clue of our conversation. Did not acknowledge me as a customer or even look at me. Disrespectful and unprofessional. Last trip for me. Go to TJ’s…
REPLY -Nope wrong guy. You did not buy anything from me and I never brought in figurines. TJs was not mentioned. Funny how you think he was in the right without knowing exactly who I am. Don’t turn this around, own it, he was rude and that is why I posted a review.
The timing of my review is completely irrelevant. Done wasting my time with you. What a great way for you to represent your business. I’m confident people reading this back and forth will clearly see your unprofessionalism. I must admit tho, looking forward to your senseless and meaningless response.
Owner is rude to say the least went in to sell a music processor that we had been told to bring back if ace drums didn’t want it and he came at us yelling and all but pushing our equipment off the counter on the floor employee was even baffled by his attitude will never go back or send anyone there again
Dave is wonderful, professional and really knows how to deliver. He made out wedding reception a day to remember, thank you Dave.
Elite Sounds of Florida provides unbeatable talent with state of the art equipment making all of your occasions unforgettable.
Elite was amazing! Dave replied quickly to any inquiry we had, the forms were great to make sure that we covered everything we needed and he called and let us know if/when we missed anything. He was early and ready to go on the day of the event and had everything ready to go. The reception was amazing and he did a great job of blending the music and requests to keep everyone entertained and dancing. Would recommend them to anyone looking for a DJ for an event. Thank you Dave!!

Nice place to buy used furniture. I did.
At first , she was a bit evil but the next day she was wonderful I went back I will continue to support the business
Way over priced
VERY expensive for a thrift store. Store was clean, well lit and had a variety of furniture. Friendly staff.
The people are nice, their practices are not. I use to shop there a lot. Not long ago I purchased 2 pieces of furniture. A white amor & a secretary desk over $200 total. I asked if my items could be kept aside for a couple weeks so i could procure transportation. I was ASSURED the items would be held. When I went back to pick them up they were sold to someone else. When I explained the situation to the gentleman (I use to deal with the owner who’s very reasonable, this was not the owner) ) he told me “you took to long so we sold them to someone.” (it was 3 weeks) I asked if he would call the owner. Was told , the owner was not available. I explained that I paid & had the receipt & permission. Guy daid, well whoever said they could hold it that long was mistaken & that he was sorry but there was nothing he would do. Not even a refund.
Will never shop there again.
Really friendly people with a awesome selection of Vinyls. For sure making this a regular stop.
Found just what I needed and the people in there we’re so helpful. Thank you .
Very kind and knowledgeable
Excellent little curio shop. Note somehow the cost of my product increased by $1.50 between receipt and posting on my Visa card. Not sure who’s at fault.
Helpful staff, nice first visit, we’ll be back for sure. Highly recommended.
16. Kenny Smith Guitar Lessons
Address: 2541 Tamiami Trail, Port Charlotte, FL 33952 , Charlotte Harbor , Florida , United States
Right place to go to get your blood pressure checked and get vaccinated go to library go to a theater all kind of good stuff going on there
I was very impressed with the way they gave the covid vaccines today.
Nice Christmas Craft fair
What a great venue. A people pleasing centre with wonderful surprises every time you go. What could be more fun than a companionable outing at a reasonable price with down home genuine people. This is a gem.
Got my second covid shot. The workers were great.
My husband won tickets through a local radio station and were told to pick up tickets at the box office. Well that’s another story. My husband was treated like he was trying to scam them. He was grilled about the tickets like they had NO idea what he was talking about. 4 different people questioned him and stated there were no tickets but ” we’ll find you seats somewhere”. By this time we were completely out of the mood to see the show. No professionalism what so ever. Incompetent and rude. We wont being doing this again anytime soon!
Burned meatloaf..not worth eating
This place should not qualify as a cultural center . There’s nothing cultural about it . Venues as such should offer shows that represent different foreign countries in music , dance and theatre . They are a staff of close minded individuals that offer dull events with no consideration to their audience or local residents .Its truly too bad for the community as they add no pride to our town . It’s decor is extremely outdated and they cannot think outside the box . Their stage presentations are dull and quite insulting since I paid for a ticket . I’ve seen better shows in public schools . Don’t waste your time supporting a center that claims to be exactly what it is not … cultural . It should be called ” The Depressing Center “not cultural by any means .
Don’ t waste your time and I do not recommend it at all . Head to Sarasota or Fort Myers instead .
