Derrick @ IvoryBeats is a consummate professional with a skill for getting projects done better than expected and providing clear direction with local knowledge and style. Highly recommend.
We enjoyed our shopping at Andy’s Music. They are always helpful with our needs and the store carries a variety of instruments and music books. We will definitely come back!!!
They were all really helpful! Will be back.
Great great little music store
I needed a tip ring sleeve quarter inch phono to tip ring quarter inch phono x2. They had it at a good price and the staff was more than willing to help me find it and also help me look for a hard to find specialty cable I am still looking for. Guitar cable phono to phono which they had but not one with a disconnect switch on the plug that interrupts the signal…an off button if you will. Allows you to unplug without roasting your ears, you’ll need them later, I promise. Kids don’t abuse your ears with loud music, gunshots, and jet engines like I did…the ringing never stops. Know silence, know peace.
Very nice place got whatever you want music wise
Good product…shipping packaging sucks USPS destroyed the packaging and this is the third baton I ordered. Somehow they keep survive the beating…
Felt like I was not wanted in the store also I felt like I was being judged on my appearance the hole time.
My experience at Andy’s was horrible. I called and ask do they have any piano music for beginners and was told yes. The sales person was friendly over the phone but the minute I arrived her whole attitude changed. She didn’t want to help me. I walked around for about 15 minutes waiting to ask for help but the staff pretended to be busy even when no one was in the store. The minute a Caucasian person walked in, they were at their beck and call ready to help. I was so excited about buying music so I can practice my piano, but after being treated like dirt my attitude changed. I wish people would learn that know matter what color you are, one is know better than the other. Please stop believing that lie!
Hello! I’m Rateing Andy’s Music, I’m rating Andy’s music 2 Star Because they have Rejected Mutiple people and Some of my Family Members. Just because of a Credit Check For a Instrument, I have a House with the Credit I have and I couldn’t get a Instrument. And They Basiclly could Scam Us because When they Decline Us they could still go to Out Application and they have our credit card information and They could Take or Use our Money.

Very helpful staff. Selection is a little small but can order what you need. Just a tad pricey however.
Great selection of Christmas sheet music.
This is an excellent music shop with any kind of music instrument or sheet music you might be looking for – whether student model or professional level instrument they have it. Recommended
changed to 4 stars because service isn’t as good as it used to be. It is now only ok. Was also very expensive.
Very helpful and friendly
I brought in something for them to look at in January and it’s been 3 and a 1/2 months and they haven’t called back. I’ve called 5 or 6 times and the manager has been on vacation every single one of those times. They stole my instrument. DO NOT GO HERE
Awful place, horrible customer service, and the insurance isn’t worth a damn! Gadsden Music is way better!
Stay away. They are way overpriced.
6. Bailey Brothers Music Company
Address: 4673 US-280 Suite # 7, Birmingham, AL 35242 , Clarke County , Alabama , United States
I mean come on it’s Bailey Brothers. Excellent service better people.
I needed 2 wireless mics for our church’s old PA system. They are so helpful! They want to make sure that what you purchase from them will work! Nothing like good customer service!
Great customer service and selection. Not pushy or over bearing when shopping. Sold my electric and bought a great bass and will be back again!
It was my first time in the store and I had an excellent experience. David was very helpful and friendly as well as the other staff present. The online site lacks a lot of the guitars they have in stock because they get new guitars a lot so I would advise actually going into the store to see their wide selection.
Usually get good service, but I took my guitar nut to be repaired after my guitar took a spill. I let them know the guitar had fallen and hoped they would fix. The nut was replaced poorly but the guitar had a buzz. Took it back 2 more times. The last visit, the person in charge of the repair (2 weeks later)said I had heavy fingers and raised the stings to a height that made the guitar unplayable. I took to another repair shop and they repaired the nut replaced by Bailey Brothers found a couple of uneven frets repaired the frets adjusted the neck and had to re-setup the guitar from the disaster repair at Bailey Brothers. If in need of repairs I will never return to this store.
Good selection of musical equipment. Be prepared because they strictly enforce the muzzle mandate inside. They make you wear masks.
I would use profane language, but it would not adequately describe the crap this company pulled. Basically, I took my brother to trade a PRISTINE first-owner amp, and we could prove it, in for a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe, used, which is of equal value….and my brother coughed up $100.
I took off work to take him to initially buy the thing. I took off work to bring it in for repair when we discovered sticky crap on the power tubes, and I ended up working until 10PM thanks to these guys. They wanted me to take off work again, after having spent 5 hours in their store. I basically spoke up and said, he might be the customer, but I’m the wheelman, and I’m furious. I mentioned the fact of the wasted gas, wasted trips, and the at least 6 hours of driving they were expecting of me.
They checked OUR amp out very thoroughly, and even treated my brother like a criminal, saying they are getting his DL in case he stole it. SERIOUSLY people….
I tried to talk some business sense with them, asking them to do something for the trouble, and it would not have taken much. They said no. Then I asked if they can just reverse everything since ALL of the stuff was still in the store…. The guy made up a story of a law, which actually doesn’t exist, then claiming he has to charge extra to reverse it all. Guitar Center evidently doesn’t know about this (fake) law.
Not ONLY that, but the smug, d-bag attitude that the guy gave me when pushing my brother, his CUSTOMER aside to say “you don’t think we’re trying to rip you off do you?” He did this to put me on the spot, and tried to make me look like the bad guy.
In the end, my brother spent another $170 to get a new model. In the end, he got what he wanted, but we are both appalled by how the guy behaved to our faces. Beware, their used gear has NO warranty, but they represented at sale that they would ensure the gear works if something went wrong like the day we get it… Well… it did.
You don’t take someone’s $700 amp + $100 and then give them junk, and not try to do something proper after dragging someone thru hell. That’s the bottom line. I tried more than the guy at this store. You won’t catch us in that place again.
Considering the tens of thousands that my brother spent with other companies, Bailey Brothers missed an opportunity… Not good business. Dishonest, rude, and outright condescending. Smiled at us when we expressed our frustration with the runaround….
Don’t answer the phone
I left my guitar with this store in February 2012 for a simple repair. In June it was still hanging waiting for them to repair. I had been told on multiple occasions that it would be ready in just a few days. I picked it up today June 24, 2012 and no repair has been done and I was still charged a bench fee. This place sucks. I will never go in there again. Good luck if you do.

It is not often that I walk in a music and have have the owner show so much kindness to me. I want to encourage anyone looking for a musical instrument to make sure you go to Homewood Music. They are great folks and will treat you right.. Mr. Tedrow was wonderful. Thanks
I spoke with the gentlemen and both of them were quite knowledgeable and friendly. Their shop looked like a good repair shop should look and that was reassuring enough.
The only downside was their backlog of work and the 3-4 weeks estimation for getting my work completed; then again, if it’s done correctly the first time, that’s still not too much of a wait. I’d rather have it done right than done a second or third time!
Bob, Jason, Matthew are all incredibly kind humans. Music has been such a big part of my life, my first day of life I was in a music store. They helped me revive that today. Thanks so much guys!!!
Good product, Good service.
Friendly atmosphere and lots of instruments.
I’ve never dealt with someone so rude over the phone. The owner tried to guilt me with sarcasm and acted like victim when I questioned a price. Full story: I asked to order a cello string. All was going well (owner answered questions about speed of shipping and availability of the string), but then he quoted a price ($81) that was far above what other shops charge. I said respectfully that “I’ve purchased the string for $45 at other walk-in shops” and he became sarcastic and argumentative with me, claiming he was “holding my hand” through the process, and said “Well, I have to pay $35 for this string so what do YOU think is fair for ME to make? $15? What is 35 + 15, huh? Ohhh, maybe $50 is more than you can afford?” A simple, “well this is my price” would have been fine as a response from him, but I felt disrespected so I hung up and decided I’m never going to spend a dime Homewood Musical Instrument Co. I advise everyone else to steer clear of this shop and the guy who owns it.

If you’re looking for a professional music service in Northwest Alabama, look no further. Nick is knowledgeable, professional and is a fantastic instructor. He has the uncanny ability to listen to, understand and then focus on the goals of you, the student.
I have also taken several instruments to Nick to be worked on, from a string change to a full set up on a new instrument. He has also repaired several that I’ve been a little rough with.
All in all, whether you’re looking for a lesson or just want to find a new piece of gear, this is the place to go!
Nicholas is an exceptionally versatile musician and is extremely dedicated to the musical progression of his students!
Highly recommend! Nick is a great music instructor and very knowledgeable in instrument repair. Great selection in accessories and instruments as well.
The music store had the banjo strings I needed.

Great local shop with an awesome selection of used gear. Great place to look for local Bham builders like Southside Custom Guitars or Samamp.
My kinda music store. Classic amps and guitars. Helpful staff
Staff very knowledgeable. Looking forward to going back Monday to see if I can trade my mandolin for an acoustic electric guitar I’ve been looking for.
They generally have the best used stock in Birmingham, lots of great vintage pieces, really just lots of stuff. However, they are not online, not even something as simple as a stock list. it’s really disappointing because I would like to shop and but from them, but it is not easy to get to their location (middle of downtown area, near the hospitals and trendy eating, so lots of traffic). I would buy so much more stuff from them if they would put up anything that simply listed their current stock. I can’t call them and say “hey man, list all of your guitars and conditions for me” every few day, and I am not about to drive 60 minutes from my suburb on a whim. Although I would be up there like a shot if there was an online presence/list, and there was something I wanted. But, since I never know what is up with that place or their stock, and gas is $$$, I just occasionally go, and rarely purchase. Great store, but 4 stars for no way of knowing stock ahead of a long drive through terrible traffic.
I left this store just a moment ago after being asked to leave because I had not yet made a purchase. I had originally intended to pick up a few packs of strings for my acoustic, now I’m glad I had not. I stopped by today with my friend who had told me about this store. He has been a customer of this store before and had always told me the staff here was friendly and that they have great service. We spent roughly 45 minutes in the store before the man at the counter, whom we had previously overheard talking to another customer about us saying, “What’s the deal with these two jokebags?” told us to get out of the store because we had not yet bought anything. We promptly left the store and I soon received a text from my friend saying that he had gone back inside to try to clear things up with the man that was working the counter and he told me that the man said he was not feeling well and is looking to close the store early. So if his goal is to minimize the business they get to close up early, he is doing very well.
About what you’d expect. Pretentious, unhelpful, and offended that you’d dare shop in their overpriced thrift store. But they’ve been in business forever and they ain’t changing.
Tried to get my guitars worked on here multiple times. First time was an 8 string, guy said “I don’t like black guitars they scratch too easily” and then rubbed a cloth with steel wool fibers over it and scratched the guitar. GEE I wonder why! Had a pickup swap done on another guitar, put a scratch on it that went through the paint. Not only that, but he took it upon himself to do a full “set up” when I did not ask him to now I have buzz everywhere and it plays worse than it did before, then charged me for it. Oh and the pickups are also out of phase. Sorry, but that’s it. No more chances. Goodbye.

I have a small collection of guitars and Kevin really knows what he’s doing. It’s nice to know when you drop off one of your prize possessions that will be well taken care of and ready for you to play when you get it back.
Kevin is a wizard. Awesome tech! He recently performed a full setup on my 16 old son’s new Jackson Soloist, and allowed him to watch and ask questions for the whole process and gave him some great maintenance pointers. Says loads about his character. He earned a lifelong customer today.
Replaced two high end Les Paul nuts perfectly. Highly recommend.
Good service , repair done while I waited
Went in to buy a snark tuner they didn’t have one so they sold me a Yamaha clip on tuner it’s a piece of trash

This place is excellent. Great folks run it, good selection, smells nice inside, and they know their stuff!
Thanks for keeping the local music store going!!!
The only place I will go for any musical needs. Friendly and comfortable environment, Great prices, Great service, and they are willing to go above and beyond to take care of customers. It is a small music store without a large selection in stock due to limited space, but don’t let that stop you. They can and will get you anything you need as fast as they can. I highly recommend them.
It’s a shame places like this will be going out of business soon. If they would have what I needed or was interested in like certain pickups or more interesting pedals and better guitars this would be an awesome place the last time I went in there the walls were filled with Nashville guitars and they had a couple good electrics but literally every acoustic guitar hanging on the wall was a Nashville guitar and I was looking for a Taylor or Martin but I’ve never seen anything like that in that store I go there to buy picks and strings but that’s only because they don’t have a guitar store in Talladega. When they don’t have pickups I need they asked me if I want them to order it but in this day and age I can just do that myself and get it for cheaper because looking at the price of the looper pedals they’re not buying them wholesale they’re buying them straight off of a website and marking the price up.. The people are super nice I hate giving a three-star review but I’m just being honest.
It’s a standard small music store. There aren’t a lot of new high end instruments here, but they are all very nice folks.
Large selection!! Beautiful instruments!!
I read reviews for this shop and thought it was an honest place to sell my gear. I walked in with an Epiphone AJ 220, with an Epiphone molded hardshell case I bought seperately, and an Epiphone “Snake Pit” 15w practice amp. ALL in like new condition. She plugged the guitar in and it was only the fourth time it had ever been plugged in. I never put the guitar in the case without wiping it down first. Look everything I listed up for yourself, and you’ll see what I lost. I messed up and let the lady know that I was in dire need of money for my family. The old guy asked where I bought it, and when I told him, he said he’d lost alot of business to “places like that”. No. I looked around the shop, and all he had was used gear that had been repaired and put up for sale. Junk. My guitar was the nicest instrument there! The reason he’s losing business is because he’s trying to sell junk and beating people in need out of what their instruments are worth. The lady acted like she was on Pawn Stars! If I hadn’t had needed the money really bad, I would have told her where she could stick her $200! That’s all they gave me for everything I brought in. Look up the items I listed, and you’ll see I did my part to support this business! The reviews I read must have been friends of theirs, because they definately misled me. Not fair at all.
Walked in today to look around and from the moment I walked in the door, the older gentleman (I guess the owner?) had his eye on me and was watching me like a hawk, made me feel unwelcome to be there. He asked if I was looking for anything in particular and when I told him very politely he didn’t have what I was looking for he arrogantly told me “I opened this store in 1973 and everything you see in the store is priced the same as you’d get it online” like ok bud I wasn’t complaining about the price you just don’t have what I was looking for. When I told him I wasn’t looking to buy today, and was just looking around he made a sarcastic comment about “well if you’re not buying, we can just put this back on the shelf” ??? I continued to walk around and look at some more product and he continued to watch me like a hawk until I got in my car and pulled out of the parking spot. All of my musician friends have recommended I don’t frequent this store, and I can honestly say, after that experience, I will not and will tell anyone that asks not to either. Lousy excuse for customer service.

I stopped in Arts July 21st and was greeted by Mike. I was simply window shopping and killing time as I was only in the area in business and passing through. I told Mike that and without hesitation he told me to take my time and play any guitar I wished. Mike then spent a good half hour exchanging guitar stories with me. He never once tried to sell me anything. The people at this store are amazing and i wouldn’t hesitate to buy products from them or recommend the store to other people
It was very nice this man had a really nice and understanding voice and it was very well organized
I am editing this review from 1 star to four due to the fact that I had to send my trumpet to the shop for the second time. Although extremely disappointed the first time, I must say I am very satisfied with the work done by Mr. Mike Rabig from the Montgomery store. Mike personally contacted me and after a short conversation, I decided to try a second time. My trumpet was returned to me exactly as I expected and was detailed in our conversation. I basically got back a “like new” instrument. Thank you Mike Rabig and the Dothan store manager Ms. Robin for taking care of my trumpet and ensuring customer satisfaction.
Best music store in Dothan
Check it out
Didn’t care for them
My child has had his instrument on the repair shelf at scoggins middle school for 3 weeks (I even called arts) and no one has been there to repair instruments. We are charged extra for insurance through art when financing these instruments. So why are you people not going out and repairing them on Wednesday’s as promised? It’s just a lie to get more money out of the parents. I’d advise everyone to elsewhere and avoid this company if I were you .
I hate the fact that they take all your bank information Debit card checking account before they do a so called credit check. And then don’t get back in touch with you when they say and when you call them, o we sent you a letter on Saturday. But it’s ok. Paying over a thousand for a used instrument is not even worth it. So thanks for doing me the favor and not approving it.
18. Guitars and More LLC Gardendale
Address: 1128 Main St, Gardendale, AL 35071 , Clarke County , Alabama , United States
Quaint and friendly, pressure-free local guitar store with plenty of stuff a musician would want.
Nice small business. Very helpful.
Friendly staff and good service for a small buisness . your go to place if you dont want to drive a 100 miles to Guitar Center store .
Great sales,super repair work!
The people are nice but the stuff you buy here is garbage.
I went in yesterday and asked about a Gretch open back banjo on the back wall that didn’t have a price tag. The reply I got from the bearded gent behind the counter was ” I don’t know, probably $300 or something”, and then he walked away like I didn’t exist. The vibe I got from him was “I dont want to help you. I won’t help you”. I buy a LOT of instruments and spend thousands of dollars per year on all sorts of music equipment, but this store has shown me that they don’t want my business and they aren’t interested in having any sort of customer care. I didn’t want to go to Guitar Center anymore, I would like to buy from a local store, but Guitars and More has discouraged me from doing any business with them. My advice to other customers is to go elsewhere. They don’t want your business and they don’t deserve your business.
