I’ve been here several times and they are constantly helpful and efficient. They took a look at my cello at no cost and let me know it didn’t need to be fixed yet. I appreciate their honesty.
The salesman i had there knew HIS STUFF…. KNOWLEDGE!
Very knowledgeable
Hands-down the worst music store ever!
People there are polite enough, but have no business sense, if you’re not familiar with the music industry they will belittle you. Do not sell equipment to them, they only do consignment (which is a very outdated idea imo), and offer a 70/30% which is higher than typical music shops.
I’ve went to Jackson’s music a few times in the past couple of years. I have purchased a drum set from them and its my number one kit still to this day. For the most part friendliness is in the atmosphere when the older guys are working, the younger guy on the other hand is lazy and careless and doesn’t see the need to know about drum accessories even being the store salesman that he is.. I guess he’s a guitar guy or something. I feel as if anyone that was clueless about music or music instruments could do a better job than that guy. The guy acted as if he didn’t know what I was talking about and was trying to pretty much get me off the phone until I pushed the issue. Then he was like, “oh I know what you’re talking about.” This was after I walked him through what I was in need of twice! Anyways the guy clearly knew what I was talking about and was more than likely anxious to get off on time instead of making one more sale for the day. He even told me that someone else called this past week about the same thing. In store experience is definitely the route to go. If you call you’ll more than likely get the careless and clueless young guy on the phone that doesn’t even deserve his job. I don’t know if it’s because he didn’t get the training he needed or if he likes to milk the system but whatever the case may be he obviously can’t help you because he can’t even help himself or the store by doing a good job.
Jeff did mine and my wife’s reception and was so amazing. He kept my guest moving and in stitches. Such an amazing DJ.
Music man productions has the best sound and lights, along with Great equipment. Great guys to work with. They are #1 in my book.
From he time I first spoke to him he was very personable and helpful. He answered every phone call helped me out from the time I hired him until the wedding was over he was there for me. I most definitely recommend Jeff and Timothy their amazing and down to earth.
4. Town Center Music
Address: 4072 Suwanee Dam Rd NW, Suwanee, GA 30024 , Clay County , Georgia , United States
The guys at town center are awesome. I had some work done on a “partscaster” build I was doing and town center’s work helped a ton. Their repair work is top notch and the employees are all very friendly and knowledgeable. I’ll definitely be back!
We’ve had nothing but good service and professional lessons here for 3 years. We love our local music shop! All the instructors are great but our experience with Greg has been wonderful.
I was having technical issues with my pedal board, and Aaron helped me out so much I got my first official power supply Iso brick from Mxr, this guy knows gear and Amps!!! Anyone in the area has to check this place out! Awsome Gear and Guys there!
Taught my kids to play guitar
Good
Much better store I not been here in a while the past manager was not a music guy or a manger known as a air head I will be back
Went in there a couple days ago. Not a huge fan. Workers aren’t very pleasant people and they come up to you every 10 minutes kind of giving you the hint to leave if you’re not gonna buy anything like you’re in there too long.
Great for beginners I guess. Don’t come in here expecting higher quality equipment and experience. Name of their game is to hook beginners onto cheap equipment (which is totally fine) and get you out. No hanging out in there jamming for an extended time.
Maybe I came in on a bad day.
Took down my review. Owner ultimately seemed to care about his customers. Too bad everything is so politically incorrect. Anyone still remember Archie Bunker?
But to clarify what idiot would try to exchange something opened, like a reed.
Amazon prime still winnnning.
Wow. Just called Town Center Music. Someone answered. I started asking about a guitar I’m looking for and got cut off mid-sentence by the guy talking loudly to a co-worker. When he stopped talking I said hello? Hello? Nothing. A few seconds later he hangs up.
5. Ponce De Leon Music Center
Address: 1060 Dahlonega Hwy, Cumming, GA 30040 , Clay County , Georgia , United States
My son who is 7 yrs okd. takes drum lessons with Mr.Sam .He is so good teaching him.
We are very happy.
My Granddaughter takes drum lessons here. I attend her lessons, when I visit from Florida. I always feel welcomed, and her instructor is one of the nicest guys you would want to meet.
They did a good job repairing my son’s guitar and were very nice. However, since that last visit, i have called twice looking for audio equipment and have been told twice that the equipment I need doesn’t and cannot exist. The problem is that while I am on the phone, the equipment is in my hand or in front of me and does in fact exist. Its just worn out and I need a new piece. I am trying to save myself a thirty minute drive to a different music store who always have my parts. Please, please just spare me the lecture and just say sorry, we don’t have that in stock.
Muy surtido y los precios muy razonable
Great Store
Had to make a quick stop to grab a few things. I know it was closing time. I was trying to make it quick. When they started harassing my husband reminding him when they close he left and we took our business somewhere else. Customers want to feel welcomed, not reminded how unfortunate you are to have to lock the door right at 5:00.
The customer service is awful I definitely won’t be back there every again
6. Jackson’s Music Store Inc
Address: 1651 Horizon Pkwy #500, Buford, GA 30518 , Clay County , Georgia , United States
First time customer and will definitely be going back for all my future purchases and needs! I Went in for trumpet repair for my daughters trumpet and they were able to help me right away and fix it for me. I normally went to a closer music store for all my needs but not anymore. Glad I found this store !
Super friendly environment, true professionals willing to help with every need. I took my son’s clarinet and Doug was able to fix it in a timely manner . I would recommend their services to everyone. Great people!
Wonderful family run music store. Friendly and knowledgeable staff.
I come here for instrument repairs. I’m a professional musician that need his instrument asap. Mark at this location always fixes my sax perfectly. I’m going for a repad in the next two weeks
Very friendly staff. They make you understand about the different instruments if you have no knowledge about it.
Staff is nice, small selection tho. Mostly beginner instruments and school band instruments.
Rude! Told them I was just looking around at the moment and was laughed at…. shameful behavior by talentless jokes!
Don’t go here. They have the worst service ever. I have a clarinet and the thumb rest broke, and I had to get a realignment for my bottom keys and they only fixed my thumb rest but took money for both realignment and my thumb rest. They didn’t fix both things but took charge for both. How pathetic.
I can say with confidence that the Band and Orchestra repair shop and some really great Teachers are the ONLY REASON to give this company any of your money. You can trust your brass repairs to be flawless. Those are the only positive comments have.
7. Black Hammond
Address: 365 Cotton Ave, Macon, GA 31201 , Clay County , Georgia , United States
Great shop. The owner is very helpful and knowledgeable about his products. There is a great selection of new and used pianos and keyboards.
Had a great time visiting the store!!
Ive known Greg for years, he grew into this business with a genuine passion for music.
Hard to find. Just a bunch of pianos
Placed an order on line. Order on 2/12. Was informed my order was received the same day. Still haven’t heard of a shipment date. How long does it take to package a microphone and sent it out.? LOUSY SERVICE.
8. Music Go Round – Atlanta/Duluth, GA
Address: 3675 Satellite Blvd # 100, Duluth, GA 30096 , Clay County , Georgia , United States
I’ve been coming here for years, since they were based out of lilburn and it was always a staple for so many people when I was a kid. I visited their duluth store and it was just like lilburn but bigger and better. I’m happy they’re doing so well.
I’ve done trading with them and they’re easy to work with, not rude, very fair on pricing, and they’re super helpful if you’re in the store trying to figure out equipment or what you want in general.
I hope to take my kids there someday and share that experience of picking out their first guitar with these guys. Also, all their used stuff is top notch and priced really well. IF you haven’t gone, go, and you’ll probably find something in there you wouldn’t have anywhere else.
Lots of different items to choose. Good selection of used guitars, amps, pedals and more
Exelente lugar para comprar aparatos musicales lo recomiendo al 100%
If you’re coming here to sell, you will only get about 30 or 35% of current used price. If youre coming to trade you might get 50% of current used price
The store itself was fantastic pricing was great. The only drawback was the parking lot, it was tight
Brought banjo in for simple work. Has been 2 weeks. Just keep getting told “we will call you when it is done”. Not cool. Way too long for such simple work. Other than that, they have an excellent selection of instruments. EDIT: Resolution has been offered and is appreciated. Discount would be great, but free isn’t necessary. An idea of when it will be complete would be great.
Came in an hour before close to sell some gear. A couple of things:
1. Staff/atmosphere: The staff wasn’t very welcoming and made their annoyance known about me trying to get an appraisal an hour before close.
2. Accessibility: all the amps were disconnected, making it inaccessible to try out guitars.
3. Prices/trade-in value: They have a USA-made vintage guitar listed for $599. They barely offered me $200 for an almost identical guitar (same year, same condition) and claimed that “$200 is what they go for.”
Only reason I’m rating two stars instead of one is because they do have a good variety of instruments.
Was told that i wpuldnt have to worry abput getting low balled on my music equipment and that was a lie. Didnt even want cash just wanted a fair trade on an instrument. They seriously tryed to rip me off on my trade ins. Even when one of my items was completly new in box. Cant wait to see how much longer that guitar sets on there and no one buys it. Waisted two hours of my day and gas. Would have brought these guys lots of good buisness with new trade ins and buys on equipment.
I’m sure this will be looked at as the “just a bad experience review” but I’ll just lay it out and let you decide.
Monday – Brought my bass in to be setup. Waited about 2 and a half hours to be told that they don’t do setups in house. I was also told it would take at least a day.
Tuesday – called in in the afternoon and it still wasn’t picked up.
Wednesday – had a gig Wednesday night. Called at 1. Asked if my bass was picked up. I was told it wasn’t yet. I responded sayibng that I needed my bass for gig. Do not send it off. I show up at the store at 7pm that night to pick up my bass. The store clerks tell me that my bass was already picked… At 12 and whoever was wrong. The clerk tried to call the guy who does their setups and it went straight to voicemail. He told me that he could rush the setup and could have it back early Thursday. I decided to just to borrow my guitarist’s bass and pick up my bass Thursday.
Thursday – I show up to the shop at 7pm. My bass is behind the front desk waiting for me. I tell the clerk that I’m here to pick the bass up. He hands me the bass and tells me that i denied service so nothing was done with it. I left the shop with my bass in hand and never stepping foot in that shop again. I’m also sending my students elsewhere.
Update: my bass is chipped…
9. Jerry Lee’s Music Store
Address: 101 West St Patrick St, St Marys, GA 31558 , Clay County , Georgia , United States
It was mine and my husband’s 5th Anniversary! My husband had been to Jerry Lee’s many times and had wonderful conversation with Mr. Jerry. On our anniversary, I called Mr. Jerry and explained that I was a work all day, but I wanted to do something special for my husband. Mr. Jerry was very knowledgeable and kind. He put together the guitar my husband wanted with all of the add ons that my husband would need. The best part is that he delivered it due to my situation with work. My husband was so blown away! Best Anniversary So Far!!!! All because of the knowledge and kindness of Mr. Jerry! Thank you so much!
My son took his first guitar lesson. Jerry was awesome with him.
Quality instruments and great service by knowledgeable people.
It’s pretty cool. Like the people there.
I just dropped off my daughters trumpet for a stuck valve. I was promptly greeted with a friendly smile. When I get the horn back I will up date my review.
Neat little music shop with some quality products. Not a huge selection, but they have what you need.
If you are into electric guitars, the selection is very limited, and even the ones in stock had problems.
10. Pete’s Music City
Address: 115 S Wall St, Calhoun, GA 30701 , Clay County , Georgia , United States
Pete’s is what a music store should be. Lots of inventory and experienced staff. My family’s been doing business with them for nearly 50 years. Awesomeness! JR
Always helpful and the nicest people you’ll ever do Buisiness with. They’re definitely my go to when it comes to my guitars or purchasing a new one. Only one warning it’s very hard sometimes to go in and leave without buying another one…lol.
This place is awesome! The employees are very kind, and it’s not just today. I have been going there for six months taking lessons and the people want to be your friends. Even the owner is kind and works along with the rest of the people. They give great advise, let you play the instruments all you want, and give discounts to kids and students. Over all, it’s an amazing experience.
My son usually finds what he needs. Friendly and helpful.
I, I bought a guitar and the salesman was very friendly and I would recommend Pete to anyone
Maybe a little high on prices but, He has a huge inventory of mostly new guitars and amps. Friendly and helpful staff. An all around great music store when there are not many left.
Friendly staff, clean environment and plenty of stools to sit in if you decided to pick up a guitar and play. But unfortunately the the selection was not there for me. Not trying to be negative but it really seemed as a store where somebody had went around for a while picking out the best guitars they could find at surrounding pawn shops cleaned them up and opened a store. Not saying you can’t find a good guitar at a pawn shop and not saying that they didn’t have guitars there just very dry selection.
11. Donley’s Music
Address: 5080 Hickory Flat Hwy, Canton, GA 30115 , Clay County , Georgia , United States
Great variety of products for a small store, the service was great and they took their time making sure the repair I had done on my ukulele was exactly what I wanted. I’ll definitely come back for any more music needs!
Bought my 5yr old his first guitar there. Very helpful and kind folks. Looking forward to bringing him back for lessons there.
Great music store but even better people! Dave is like a member of the family within minutes of meeting him. Not one of those members that wants to borrow your car or money, but one of those that would give you the shirt off of his back. They have amazing teachers and their prices are very affordable.
They were very nice.
Very friendly staff and they will buy your instruments at a fair price.
Donley’s , always, customer service above par but their repair tech did not mirror Donley’s reputation AT ALL. MY 9YR old niece offered to try a repair. I will probably get the same visual “quality” result BUT WOULD SAVE $100.
I brought my son for one month of guitar lessons. There was a break down in their process and we never received a calendar. For this I was called a liar and unethical because I told them we weren’t coming back. The owner says everyone knows this is how they do it but obviously we didn’t know. He said I was stealing money out of the instructor’s pocket. However we paid for all lessons given. The owner couldn’t acknowledge there was the possibility of a mistake (we didn’t get a calendar explaining the policies or the schedule of lessons and the girl that took my money explained it as a month to month payment system) and demanded we pay.
If he had chosen to say That there was a possibility of a mistake and asked if we could meet in the middle without calling my integrity into question then I would have probably paid. We are talking $100 but the fact that he went straight to the only reasonable explanation was that I was lying isn’t acceptable.
We went in the month of September for a total of 3 lessons. I paid for the entire month, half off because we bought a guitar. We didn’t go to a lesson last Monday (first Monday in October or today) not today. I got a text from the instructor asking if we were coming back. I told him we were not. The instructor apologized for how the owner handled the situation and told me that we didn’t owe him anything.
We will not do business here again.
These people should not be trusted with children.
Took them my guitar to fix. Got it back and it still wasn’t fixed and they had lost my bridge pins and replaced them with someone else’s that were damaged and a different color. Had to take it somewhere else to get it repaired correctly
12. Gwinnett Discount Music
Address: 155 Gwinnett Dr, Lawrenceville, GA 30046 , Clay County , Georgia , United States
After looking at a few other places I stopped in here and they had what I needed. I can’t remember the guys name but he was more than helpful for a $3 part. This place will get my return business even though the bigger store is closer.
Great rental program
They took to long I gess cuz school was out
Always very helpful
They want to charge me just to tell me how much the repair costs
Worst experience of my life. I rented an instrument and they wouldn’t take it back. They said it was not the correct instrument. Come to find out the instrument I had they rented to someone else after I had it for over a year. After all is said and done they are still coming after me for money. They expect me to pay for something I supposedly didn’t have. They even had the nerve to send it to a collections company. They won’t let you speak to manager. They say they will get back in contact with you and never do. How are you suppose to deal with a company when they won’t deal with you??? Almost everyone at that company has a bad attitude. I finally get to talk to manager after having a major fit. Then they say they are going to open an investigation into it. They act like I am lying. I have tried to deal with them to the point where I am being told I am untruthful. Shame on these people. I don’t understand how they can run such a dishonest organization. They just want me to keep taking it and paying while they do nothing to rectify my problem. God forbid they actual give me a refund for all the times that I paid that I should not have. All they care about is getting as much money out of you that they can. To HELL with customer service. All because you have to do it for your child to take a band class. The school should not recommended them if this is how hard working parents are treated.
I can never get a call back from this place. In person, the service is great but they have had my son’s instrument for 3 weeks and no one will return my calls. Very disappointed.
13. Dirt Cheep Pro Audio & Musical Instruments
Address: 2415 S Cobb Dr SE, Smyrna, GA 30080 , Clay County , Georgia , United States
This has become our go-to spot for music supplies, GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE!
Mr. Johnny was nice and informative and very accommodating i have been to 4 other locations and no one seem who could help and he was right there i love it
Great customer service, we called and asked about a product and they had it at the front when we got there, and they have low prices for instruments and accessories. They were very nice.
Love this place and love the staff. Prefer to go here for instrument needs and repairs over Ken Stanton. The only reason I didn’t give five stars is because I really wish they would keep at least a small supply of basic AV accessories such as XLR/DMX cables and Gaffer tape. Lots of my local AV comrades and I would be in there often for that stuff! But that’s the only thing I can whine about. Lol.
For the person who was complaining about being charged for not showing up to a lesson …. seriously? This is no different than not showing up for a doctor’s appointment or not giving at least 24 hours notice. This is how these instructors make a living and that spot is reserved specifically for you or your child. Even if you have a good reason for not showing up, like a family emergency, you should still rightfully be expected to pay for that reservation, as it means a loss of income for a teacher. Would you be OK with your employer unexpectedly shorting you money that you were expecting to pay bills with, regardless of their reason?
Their rentals come with repairs (at least that’s what I got)
Our first time there. They had the Reed she needed for her bass clarinet. The was kind and helpful. Thanks for their help.
I hate that I had to give at least one star, there should be a no star button. I had mostly positive experiences here until this point. I bought a Planet Waves instrument cable from this establishment and it was defective. Granted it has been about 4 months, I asked to make an even exchange and they said, “No. You have to get with Planet Waves.” In order to get any help from Planet Waves I have a receipt. They have a record that I bought it, but won’t give me one. I can’t do business with a company that doesn’t back up its inventory.
I’ve been shopping here for over a decade. This is the first time I have EVER had to make a return was today. I was told there was a 7 day return policy. NO WHERE on the receipt does it indicate a 7 day policy. Very disappointed that the owner John (after all these years being of being a loyal customer) argue with me over this return.
Went there today to start a free week trial…the class was canceled and the manger didn’t really make effort to convince us to join. It was a group of us trying to find a gym to work out after work. The gym to under new management since December and there was alot of out of order signs. If your going to be the highest price around and your only saleing point is your open 24 hours…which so is everybody else…just a let down because I heard good things…
15. McKibben Music
Address: 1118 Monticello St SW, Covington, GA 30014 , Clay County , Georgia , United States
Excellent place and knowledge for many musical instruments. Super nice peeps also!!
Excellent experience. I took guitar lessons here once and it was just wonderful.
I take saxophone now and it is really fun and easy to learn. Teacher is really understanding and cool!
Super nice people! Feels like you are among friends your first visit.
It’s ok
I like that this is “mom and pop” shop run by a older couple. They are super friendly and love to talk. Very friendly place. I like that they have a couch, chairs, or a bench to sit on while you wait for your child’s lesson to finish. They do have a ceiling fan to help move the air, but it can get a little stuffy at times in the waiting area and I find myself wanting to go outside to get fresh air.
Wish they had more music products to buy, like more music books. I would much rather support a local business than have to order music online.
Very personable establishment. Even stayed open an extra 10 minutes to sell me strings for my guitar once.
asked if they had a ukulele and they didnt which was fine so we asked the guy to give us a call once they had them in stock we wrote down our number for them. Never received a call bought my ukulele some where else
Website is out of date. No so called “cancellation” policy which is a big one. No make up visits unless the teacher is sick. Yeah. My son has asthma and allergies and was sick 2 times during a May. Texted with the teacher to set up make up time and was never told about the policy until my son called Mac, the owner, who thought my questions were funny and he laughed at me. He offered $25 back as May has 5 Tuesday’s and basically he gave me one missed class back refund. We’ll see. Honestly I don’t like the attitude of this owner and I certainly don’t like the lack of professionalism he has and the website also not being up to date. If u r going to have a website make sure ur policies are on it and the correct rates are as well. Won’t be going back either way. Keep your $25 I guess you need all that cancellation or missed time money for sick kids to run ur business.
Rude. Bad business. I never felt so out-of-place and disrespected. 1st of all, I walked in and spoke while he was yapping away on the phone. No response from him. He kept going on with his phone conversation as I walked around looking. So, I assumed he didn’t want my business and I left. A little later, I sent my daughter in because I found half of what I needed somewhere else. He actually suggested her to get the items somewhere else. So, she was very uncomfortable and left.
16. Muñoz Melodías
Address: 210 Irwinton Dr, Eufaula, AL 36027 , Clay County , Georgia , United States
Michael was very helpful. Purchased a Congo set and Tiambles set for my son.
Kenny Stanton went corporate years ago, but this unique location is really cool. Easy to find, great people, difficult parking.
Andres was a great help today. I called the store to place a microphone on hold and he promptly asked for my name and placed it on hold for me.
I was also interested in buying a bass guitar but was unsure about which item to purchase. He provided me several options and provided his balanced opinion on each. I ended up going with the Fender Player Jazz bass. I’m pretty happy with my decision!
Ken Stanton Music is the hometown brand. It is apparently one legitimate alternative to Guitar Center and Sam Ash. I stopped by the store recently and had a pleasant experience.
From the exterior, you can tell that the store won’t have a massive selection. It’s a smaller store, but still worth checking out. You could always find a gem. I found a pretty reasonably priced Gibson ES-Les Paul that I’m strongly considering.
I worked with Ben during my time in the store, and he was terrific. The store didn’t carry a White Falcon or a Martin D35, but he found that other Ken Stanton locations carried them and offered to have them delivered to the Stone Mountain location.
There’s a lot to consider when investing in expensive instruments and gear. As it currently stands, I wouldn’t mind buying from Ben at Ken Stanton.
Great service
The shop has a big selection for its size and the staff are helpful but not pushy. We found just what we were looking for and enjoyed browsing the guitars and other strings.
sadly, I’ve coming to this location twice in the past week and got no service. I played a few keyboards. Even had to turn on a few keyboards to try them. Some I couldn’t get working. No one ever acknowledged my presence. I hung out at least 15min each time to no avail. I observed workers behind the counter but no one greeted me on either visit. I took my business to guitar center they were on me the moment I walked in and gave me a fair deal.
I was denied for rental because I was staying a relative. Instead of giving me options for me to see what I can do….he just said no with accept your application
Bought a mandolin for $300, case for $65. When my son, the next REM decided it wasn’t his cup o’ tea, they offered $50 for both the instrument and case giving me some BS when they had the same mandolin “on sale” for $239 without case. I’ll never go back even for strings, they should rename themselves Ken Stanton Pawn!
18. Firehouse Guitars & Music
Address: 612 Medlock Rd, Decatur, GA 30033 , Clay County , Georgia , United States
Awesome shop, really cool and rare gear. Mark is a super cool dude too.
Awesome store. Really deserves more recognition than it seems to get. It’s really a hidden gem for musicians. The owner, Chris, seems to be an awesome guy. I walked in with my fiance and ended up staying probably an hour just talking and sitting on the sofas. The atmosphere is like that of a large living room with guitars and music equipment everywhere. Truly a great place with good people. Check it out! It’s above the hardware store and to the right.
Man I wish I had gotten someone like Marc to teach me more along time ago. Doing it myself only got me so far. It didn’t take him long to help me break through to stuff I never could seem to learn on my own!
Everytime I go by the door is locked. Even if the surf isn’t up. Was really wanting to go to a local shop before I flew back home.
