Never been there but bought a superb concertina from him 10 years ago.
Very friendly staff, excellent workmanship!
Friendly atmosphere and lots of instruments.
Good product, Good service.
I’ve never dealt with someone so rude over the phone. The owner tried to guilt me with sarcasm and acted like victim when I questioned a price. Full story: I asked to order a cello string. All was going well (owner answered questions about speed of shipping and availability of the string), but then he quoted a price ($81) that was far above what other shops charge. I said respectfully that “I’ve purchased the string for $45 at other walk-in shops” and he became sarcastic and argumentative with me, claiming he was “holding my hand” through the process, and said “Well, I have to pay $35 for this string so what do YOU think is fair for ME to make? $15? What is 35 + 15, huh? Ohhh, maybe $50 is more than you can afford?” A simple, “well this is my price” would have been fine as a response from him, but I felt disrespected so I hung up and decided I’m never going to spend a dime Homewood Musical Instrument Co. I advise everyone else to steer clear of this shop and the guy who owns it.

Everyone there are on top of their game, they know what they are doing.Very friendly professionals!! I just go watch a few of my high school friends record there.DRIVER,a Birmingham band for many years now.Bates Brothers has done their recordings for years now.I would recommend anyone to use this business any chance they get.I took my 16 year old and 3 if her friends to see how much it takes to just cut 1 song.
Excellent staff producing a great product

Helpful staff, decent prices, quality gear, what else do you want?
Better than Bailey Brothers. Just sayin!
It’s nice that stores like Art’s are still around.
I called and they didnt answear
Very helpful but the instruments are pretty expensive
This place is a joke. I called and asked about a mellophone and was told that they had several from me to choose from. I get there and they had one that was new and one from the 70’s they tried sell me. I will stay with Bailey Brothers.
Be a good place for a music shop that sales and buy instruments but they can’t do anything but sale with out the manager so if u need to sale something don’t go here
Arts is overpriced.
9. Bailey Brothers Music Company
Address: 4673 US-280 Suite # 7, Birmingham, AL 35242 , Concord , Alabama , United States
I bought a tama superstar classic from Bailey Brothers, and was very happy. The staff member that i worked with was david he was very helpful and nice. i highly recommend this music store!
Bought two instruments here an epiphone Sheraton and a epiphone eb 3 and a fender rumble 40. They were very patient and worked out a great deal and didnt rush or push me. 10/10 definitely shop here again
BBM did some repair work on my Taylor 912c. Not only did they do a great job on the work itself, but they cleaned the guitar and figured out what strings I like (in the case) and put brand new strings on it. I feel like I’ve got a brand new guitar. Great store too…my kids didn’t want to leave! Thanks y’all!
This place is awesome, need customer service? DONE! Need a repair? DONE! Need to place an order? DONE! The only thing I did not like was the lack of extended range instruments. You will not be finding fanned fret, 28 fret, tap guitar, etc. You want those go to WARR guitars or order them off of a musicians website.
Good service. Knowledgeable staff. Wish there was one closer to us!
Great customer service. Great selection. However, I was NOT thrilled to see their logo custom printed onto the snare head I bought. Would have received 5 stars if not for that. Going to remove it with some acetone.
Recently brought a used instrument to these guys to be cleaned and conditioned. They charged $230 and I’m not really sure what they did beyond $40 worth of repairing. I even priced the individual parts myself and they cost a total of $23. The instrument was very dirty and they didn’t even do a good or complete job of wiping it down. We didn’t get any paperwork explicitly stating what they were going to do so we can’t really argue the point. The inside of the instrument wasn’t even touched during cleaning because there is obvious dust and grime that was there when we gave it to these guys.
We also bought a mouthpiece for the instrument, I previously priced it at $10 online and it was $35 at this place. An outrageous markup.
All of this was after agreeing to a monthly payment for an instrument only to be informed the day before it was needed that they didn’t have any in stock so we had to scramble to find a different option. Because of this, they also didn’t send us a cleaning kit for the instrument that had been fully paid for.
I will be looking for another place for any other instrument needs.
I came in here the other day and they were incredibly overbearing and checked in on me every 30 seconds. From the second I walked in they were all up in my face and insisted on providing an address and phone number whenever I paid which I fully expect to be sold somewhere. I don’t know if they’re struggling to keep the lights on or something but the amount of customer service was way too much and came across as pushy and rude. Literally just let me shop.
Dishonest, and disrespectful. While I’m aware they have an “all sales final” on used gear policy, it is their responsibility to properly inspect the gear they take in and not sell something that is damaged internally (in my case, a guitar amp). Idiot salesman also had a smug grin on his face the whole time my brother and I were having to deal with it (all 5-6 hours) and was making snooty comments back and forth. In a nut shell they sold me a dead amp and then laughed in my face about it. If this is how your business treats customers, don’t expect to be a business for long. I attempted a purchase with Bailey Brothers about 8 years ago. Was not a pleasant experience. This one wasn’t either. Rest assured, that’s it. I will not be back.
Update: Hey the owner called me just to prove they really do not care about customers. Tried to minimize what happened, and basically acted exactly like Keith did. Also a robotic “I apologize but we’re not going to do anything to fix it” does not count as rectifying anything. Gee wonder why the Southside store closed! Oh yeah and if you have a bad experience with them and they don’t own up to it they’ll do like any typical teenager does and tries to badmouth you on Facebook, then stalk your page. Very mature. Screenshots are great though aren’t they?
PS: Oh and buddy, if I were mad and desperate to pay my rent, then why in the heck did I buy a $700 amp from you? Nice try.
Professional touring guy out of nashville. Bought tons of equipment from Highland. Great place with friendly service. 10/10 would recommend.
It’s a pretty chill place. I should know too since I’m inheriting it one day (I wish haha)
Great place for musicians to visit.
This store has a modest inventory with some great guitars in it. They are “priced at market” with almost no flexibility on pricing. The only issue I ran into was pricing guitars and amps at the high side of Reverb and Ebay regardless of condition. If the listings are $600 for sale online (but selling for $450 in mint condition) and Highland has a similar item in good condition but missing a knob or backplate, the Highland price will likely still be $550-$600. That said, the employee was nice and fairly knowledgeable when he had time for a quick question. Overall, a good place to check for 1-off and unique guitars but don’t expect a “steal” or to haggle. That just ain’t gonna happen here.
My kinda music store. Classic amps and guitars. Helpful staff
Staff very knowledgeable. Looking forward to going back Monday to see if I can trade my mandolin for an acoustic electric guitar I’ve been looking for.
About what you’d expect. Pretentious, unhelpful, and offended that you’d dare shop in their overpriced thrift store. But they’ve been in business forever and they ain’t changing.
Pretentious and overpriced….typical music store snobbery
Tried to get my guitars worked on here multiple times. First time was an 8 string, guy said “I don’t like black guitars they scratch too easily” and then rubbed a cloth with steel wool fibers over it and scratched the guitar. GEE I wonder why! Had a pickup swap done on another guitar, put a scratch on it that went through the paint. Not only that, but he took it upon himself to do a full “set up” when I did not ask him to now I have buzz everywhere and it plays worse than it did before, then charged me for it. Oh and the pickups are also out of phase. Sorry, but that’s it. No more chances. Goodbye.

Very nice and knowlegeble bout a computer very good price used
Very nice young lady very helpful.
I had my lap top cleaned and restored. Very nice and helpful staff. Very quick repair.
Great service, and a greay man that owns it. Go here for any of your computer needs
Do you guys repair game consoles?
This computer store is not open. The sign says open. And there’s a sign on the front of the door that says if its doors locked call one of these two numbers. I called both numbers no one picked up and I’ve been sitting here for an hour and a half if you’d like to waste your time please come use this business. When I finally got someone to pick up the phone they said their employee had called out and they were out of town and had forgotten to put up a sign. So which is it? I was one of 3 customers waiting outside a store that had its open light lit up.
I f there was a 0star I would rate this one since one of the guys who work there scammed my boyfriend out of $300 bucks! And I will tell you how… The computer we bought had a message on the screen and so we called the guy who sold it to us. He said it was no big deal, so we did. When he told us that it was fixed and come pick it up. He said it’s $80 or you can’t get it. Now my boyfriend had no idea what to do about the message since I didn’t see it before he called him and come to find out all that was wrong with it was that it needed to upgrade, wow. Everybody else knows it doesn’t cost to update windows never has. But to an unexperienced person they don’t have a clue. Anyways we are not going to pay $80 to get it back even though we paid $300. So at the end of day that guy ripped us off and there’s no telling who else he’s done this too.
How much does Controller Drifts for PlayStation cost?
14. Guitars and More LLC Gardendale
Address: 1128 Main St, Gardendale, AL 35071 , Concord , Alabama , United States
I enjoyed my visit to your shop. Thank you for the good deal on the guitar.
Excellent
Great inventory and excellent friendly service from a fellow named Ken. Very knowledgeable
Great sales,super repair work!
Friendly staff and good service for a small buisness . your go to place if you dont want to drive a 100 miles to Guitar Center store .
The people are nice but the stuff you buy here is garbage.
I went in yesterday and asked about a Gretch open back banjo on the back wall that didn’t have a price tag. The reply I got from the bearded gent behind the counter was ” I don’t know, probably $300 or something”, and then he walked away like I didn’t exist. The vibe I got from him was “I dont want to help you. I won’t help you”. I buy a LOT of instruments and spend thousands of dollars per year on all sorts of music equipment, but this store has shown me that they don’t want my business and they aren’t interested in having any sort of customer care. I didn’t want to go to Guitar Center anymore, I would like to buy from a local store, but Guitars and More has discouraged me from doing any business with them. My advice to other customers is to go elsewhere. They don’t want your business and they don’t deserve your business.
15. Cole Band Instruments
Address: 3076 McFarland Blvd #11, Northport, AL 35476 , Concord , Alabama , United States
As a band director these guys are my most trusted consultants.
What an amazing resource! Roger has saved our bacon the past three weeks as marching band and the new school year ramped up. He found a fantastic used step-up trombone in excellent condition that we purchased for a very fair price, then he cleaned and repaired our old trombone so it could serve as my son’s marching trombone that will undoubtedly see some abuse, was able to trade my daughter’s student flute for something we valued, saved the first day of class by having the right mouthpiece in stock, and then ordered a cordura case for us so my svelte son will have straps/backpack style to carry the horn around. Wonderful people who have seriously saved me so much time, money, and effort. Whatever you do, be sure to ask Roger to ultra-sonic clean your instrument. He turned our old, barely serviceable, inexpensive King trombone into a smooth-sliding, marching ready horn. Thank you Cole Band Instruments!
Super nice folks and knowledgeable about different instruments.
Its good service very pricey though
Nice and very helpful
16. Ellis Piano & Organ
Address: 1550 Montgomery Hwy suite a, Birmingham, AL 35216 , Concord , Alabama , United States
I cannot recommend Ellis Piano enough! Jason and his dad, David, were absolutely amazing through the entire process of piano shopping and purchasing! If you are in need of a piano (or sheet music) Ellis piano is hands down the place to go! It is clear that they take pride in their work, and that they want the very best for all of their customers!
Ellis Piano was recommended to me by my teacher and rightfully so! They took great care of me, they are very knowledgeable and passionate. I was buying a beginner digital piano and they have a few of the options I previously identified online as the best to start with. Good prices too!
These guys really made my dream come true of owning a Nord Piano the customer service is outstanding ! Thank you guys! They are out doing their competition
The staff was friendly, and they have tons of pianos and other equipment to choose from. The space is enormous, and is fun to just browse. They also do repairs. Call or stop by for any musical needs. Would go again.
my experience was questionable. they decide who they want …
Nice, helpful staff

Eeeeh
Has variety of instruments and types of music. Carrie is a bubbly personality there
I felt watched and rushed. Two women were working there that day, one was very friendly. I did not feel comfortable asking questions and also it was so hot in there.
Awful place with cheap brands and overpriced / broken used instruments.
this place is burnt!
18. Redbox
Address: 6607 Warrior River Rd, Bessemer, AL 35023 , Concord , Alabama , United States
I like to shop at Walmart SuperCenter. I shop early and get my groceries, apparels and pharmacy needs done. My experiences is definitely a satisfying one!
wOw never know what to expect here… Cool store….
Customer service was great.
Nice place
Great
Everything was in different places, had XMAS in the store and garden center.
Worst Walmart I’ve ever been to. Selection is limited compared to the Bessemer Walmart. You end up standing in a line for the self checkout and only three registers open. Once I went in to pick up a package I ordered online and after about thirty minutes I finally found someone to get my package. The associates are very friendly and courteous. I have a feeling that the Hueytown Walmart problem comes from higher up
Not one cart in the store. The store was NOT crowded.
I normally do not shop at the Hueytown location just because it normally does not have anything I want or need. The staff there don’t even know the store, you would be better off asking another shopper
I shop the Bessemer location because of this.
I also had Walmart+ trial and it’s not worth it. First delivery gave me groceries that I did not approve, second delivery the driver was very nice, but they only gave her the substituted and and 3 of my order.
20. Big Saver Thrift Stores
Address: 2331 19th St N, Bessemer, AL 35020 , Concord , Alabama , United States
Just found an extremely nice antique vanity in great condition! Always something good here.
Good prices
I love thrift shopping. For me, it is like a mini treasure hunt.. a way to unwind, That said, Big Saver Thrift Store is my favorite local haunt. I try to go at least once a week. If you have not tried it, you should.
Okay, but store is overall dirty.but friendly staff.
Always find something good, some of the cashiers are rude but like the place.
Only the of store that takes returns up to 10 days, love it!!!
Pretty nice staff for the most part and fairly clean but don’t plan on getting hired here they’ll screw you over in a heartbeat even if you’re doing your job correctly
The prices are to high. They got items price like it is new stuff. 12.00 for a used dress got to a store and get the same type of dress for $2.00 or $3.00 more. Charging new clothing amount for used clothes.
Beware. I used to shop at this store when it was in Roebuck for many years when it was clean and well kept. Last few years it was still there I noticed roaches in the store. I went to the Bessemer store in 2021 and saw signs of bedbugs on bedding items. Did some research on this store, it is not a non profit store. Sales of items and donations are 90% profit and the most to charities is 10%.
