Regular live musical performances, wide record selection and tasty beers
Great place for music and movies and more
Variety of old and new music sold or traded. Kind and patient employees.
Nice place settled right in the middle of a bustling downtown Davis. Clean store with a large selection of vinyl. New and used selections. Prices tend to be on the higher end but are not overly outrageous. Staff seems friendly. Clean store, well organized. Cool taproom located inside the store off to the right when you walk in. Give it a shot.
Been buying vinyl here for the last 5 or 6 yrs now since doing an out of town job in Dixon. I live in the Bay Area and made it a point once in a while to stop by. The deal this guy has for RSD Black Friday is great, shop there on that wknd and get a 50℅ off voucher on any used record. I would use this wisely and picked up killer deals on his wall displays Occasionally if there was a problem the owner I will assume never really asked any questions and let me exchange for something else on store credit. Not on this day (3/6/2022). Didn’t really recognize the employees and they decided to check the record on the house TT. They pretty much told me there wasn’t anything they could do since their house TT that tracks 1g higher than my $550+ Fluance played it with no problem. So long story short I left the record, and a frequent buyer card with 6 or 7 punches at the register and showed myself out the door.
Was great doing business with you guys Armadillo.
Was great doing business with you guys Armadillo.
It was pretty cool
Worst DJ ever, unless you like conjunction and Cumbria’s only. Went to a wedding where the brides family was Caucasian and came in from out of town. The DJ didn’t care and played knly music geared towards groom side of the family. Despite several attempts from the brides family to intercede and request made, he continued to play Mexican only music. Sadly, the brides family left early.
They made a mistake on pricing a release, and refused to honor it. So they lost a long time customer, that has spent hundreds if not thousands of dollars, over MANY years, over a $7 item. Way to go! I will never return.

When you buy guitar strings they will restring your guitar and clean the fretboard for free
Attendee a show at the Melon Ball room. Fantastic venue, both intimate and professional.
Went in for an action adjustment to my bass expecting to drop it off and pay. A kind person working there worked on it right away for free!
Decent local shop. Limited selection but a little bit of eveything. Jeff is the most knowledgeable owner!
Pretentiousness in some staff leads one to want to shop elsewhere…i love helping out small businesses but… They can’t have that attitude
Good place to put a music store. There’s plenty of parking, unlike the last place. Lots of office/cubicle spaces for practice sessions. Perfect location and its easy to find, get off at Covell Blvd and go West to the stop sign. My only CON is, they’re SO expensive. Just a little overpriced on everything, but that’s the way it goes these days.
My experience was not to good. I had to wait a long time before i was assisted in buying a bass with amp. I had to get an employee s attention just to get service. The females working there are nice and polite. The male employee that was trying to help me seemed to know very little about was good to buy for first time bass player. Ill go back and see if i get better service.
You should update your hours on Google if you’re going to be closed on a day you say you’re open. We drove 40 minutes out of our way to go here just for them to have a sign saying they’re closed.
I purchased a new G&L Fallout guitar only to discover an issue with the grounding of the toggle switch and output. I brought it back to Watermelon and they initially said that they couldn’t find an issue. I told them to keep looking and described how I found the issue. Later that day, they said that they did discover a lose ground wire and that they soldered it back into place. When I got the guitar back home I discovered some lose screws on the pickguard. I tightened up the lose screws, but the ground hum and grounding issue was still very prevalent. I could take the guitar back for “store credit” but to tell you the truth I don’t want to have to deal with people I can’t trust and I won’t be going back to Watermelon Music. So, now I am stuck “fixing” a brand new guitar so I can at least stand to play the thing.
