Was trying a guitar out and was asked to leave if Im not buying. Left a bad taste in my mouth. Beautiful guitars but I dont think Ill come back after that.

Came in for fretboard oil, they said they didn’t have any. Cool, no problem. I asked if I could simply browse around the store to look and admire the guitars, & the owner/employee said “look around but you’re not gonna find oil here.”
I tried to look at the guitars in the entrance but he and another associate? were blocking the way, they both stared at me and the owner? said look around the rest of the store then come back as if it were ME who was in the way.
If you like going to mom & pop shops where the owners treat you with no dignity and like an unwelcome guest, this is the perfect spot for you.
Very nice owners, barefoot. I felt an instant connection of our old souls. Filled with rare old instruments. Very personable.

Great to have a music store in downtown Monterey. As they have downsized, it seems that they don’t have as much, but they actually carry a great array of products. More valued is added with their wide range of expertise and repair abilities. They can get you any product you need and consult with you on what your best options are on instruments, sheet music, repairs and more.
I enjoyed meeting John and his dog Harry with my wife and daughter. He was very helpful and supportive while my 8 year old and I tried out one of his basses. I look forward to stopping by on my next visit!
John got me the Strings I needed. Also got to watch John counsel a customer on acoustic guitars. He was really straight with her. Great music store. Great guy.
Not huge array for piano/keyboard. But great guitar selection.
When people say their prices are bad here, they should have looked a little deeper into things. I may not know music that well, but I do know basic business practices, and that got me out the door with a cheap, brand new guitar. I was in the market for my first guitar, and yes they were all a little expensive, BUT I had seen the sign outside their glass doors that says “we match or beat any price.” Boom. Done. You can’t lose when a place has a sign like that. Sometimes you gotta do a little research to get what you want (in this case, look at prices online at other stores), and then ask for what you want, instead of just taking in-store prices As the final word.
Service is fine and friendly. Prices are reasonable. Place is an absolute dive… So much potential to have a home, trendy music shop downtown. Really depressing to go there.
Wow what a waste of time . This place sucks, poor service, bad attitudes. Go anywhere else, just not there.

The owner continuously hovered next to me, telling me how great his product was (which turned out to be hogwash), and hurrying me on, rather than allowing me to examine the merchandise on my own and come to my own conclusions. He bullied me into a sale and charged me a ridiculously high price for a poor quality, defective product that I wouldn’t have bought, had I been given the time and space to examine it on my own. It was an expensive lesson learned. This guy is more interested in money than he is in helping you get a good product at a fair price and earning your repeat business. I won’t go back here.

Great store! If you are looking for the first guitar for your child – then this is the place to go! Perfectly fits her little arms and hands [she is 7; they have a variety of sizes]. This is a REAL GUITAR – and guess what?!??! It is cheaper than a toy guitar from ToysRus. I can’t get over the quality…it comes with a zero fret. This store has a reputation for quality instruments. They delivered!

I went into this store with my son. He was very curious about the instruments bit didn’t touch a single one, I was warned for some reason to not let him touch anything. They didn’t want to offer help in me looking for an instrument or anything I needed I went into this store once and a very nice man helped with what I was looking for but this visit was very sour with the couple behind the counter to stuck up to help me
They says really good Quality guitars but when u check them not really and over price…Check other places before making your choice,i end up going the (The Fret House inc),covina really friendly and they know there stuff..
