I entered the shop to browse for a ukelele. The new owner Robin attended to my needs. She had a very pleasant and trusting personality. Very calm and helpful. I happily bought a ukelele that day after i tried several types and brands. I highly recommend this place. I usually do not write comments but my experience was so beautiful so i am writing one.
People are friendly and its an awesome music store
Affordable and good lessons.
Small shop, packed with instruments, fear and accessories. Helpful, knowledgeable, informative and priced competitively with online suppliers. Good quality gear and instruments of every kind: guitars, ukelele specialists, band instruments, amps & PA systems. I bought a Peavy MX-158 bass amp after testing every small amp in the store.
Super nice people. Mostly never crowded. Great selection. Nice consignments too.
Nice beginner ukulele selection
This place has hardly any guitars there Used Guitars are way overpriced it’s like a big cluster mess in that place

all the best music on cd and vinyl and they have local kid’s bands play sometimes- so rad
Awesome store
Pretty vast selection of records. New arrivals seem priced a bit on the high side, but I did find some jems and a clutch of well-priced LPs in the 2nd/main LP room. Super friendly staff.
Cool record shop featuring CD’s to the left room & vinyl on the right. Looked through the blues, jazz, soul/funk sections & they carry a varied selection at fair pricing. Some of the new cd’s were under $10. Cashier was friendly. He gave me a good deal on the 3 postcards i purchased. Will definitely be back to browse some more.
Amazing record store – one of the few great ones left I am sure! If you are looking for something obscure in American traditional music (and more) this is The Place To Go.Fun! Knowledgeable staff will help you find what you want. Give yourself plenty of time to browse and a budget for all the great things you will discover and want to go home with
It is a sardine can (to small). You have to go out side to change your mind.
Brian played beautifully during our wedding ceremony and cocktail hour! He has a great range and played many of our favorite songs as well as many songs that we really enjoyed but would not have thought to request. He was responsive and super easy to work with throughout the wedding planning process. Highly recommended!!
Brian was the highlight of our wedding, playing beautifully during our processional and knocking it out of the park during the big moments. His latin guitar was truly exceptional during our cocktail hour, wringing an incredible amount of depth from each song as a solo guitar. On top of his obvious talent, Brian was a true professional throughout the wedding planning experience – very responsive and nailed the timings our schedule. Highly recommend!
Brian played at my wedding in SF city hall and he’s awesome! He’s responsive, communicative and helped me to picked the songs. Highly recommend!
I loved and miss my drum lessons with Surya. Hoping to go back soon. He is a professional, skilled, warm, patient man. Our first lesson he assessed what I wanted to work on and what my skill level was, and tailored my lessons thoughtfully in a methodical way. He was always prepared and is a very experienced teacher. I have taken drum lessons with others and none had the teaching chops or were as professional, thoughtful and organized as Surya. I give him the highest recommendation.
As a professional music teacher myself, I have to say that it is extremely rare to find a music educator who is as well rounded, talented, and profoundly kind as Surya. Whether he is teaching voice, drums, or piano, he brings great joy AND precision to the lesson. When I’m learning from Surya I feel totally comfortable and supported. I highly recommend Surya Music Lessons!
Working with Harry Best and his band was a joy! Harry is an ultimate professional and a master of the art. I look forward to many more opportunities to engage this group.
Imagine, just for a moment, that you are lounging on a sandy beach while the sun warms your skin. You look out at the never ending ocean listening to the waves crashing on the beach, finally feeling that every little thing is gonna be alright. That feeling is the essence of ShaBang. Whether you are new to calypso/steel drum/reggae music or you are a seasoned veteran of the sounds, you will thouroughly enjoy immersing yourself in the island lifestyle, even if only for a brief few hours. Take a break from the daily grind, do yourself a favor, and go see ShaBang!
Great music. Positive energy. Very professional and reliable. We can’t wait to hire them again.
15. Fiat Music Company
Address: 2722 Pinole Valley Rd, Pinole, CA 94564 , East Richmond Heights , California , United States
Muy buen lugar para los niño s que quieren aprender a tocar algun istrumento musical . los maestros son muy agradables el lugar es muy ispirador….
My 11 year old daughter started lessons at fiat last week. We love it. This place has great teachers and a friendly attitude. Very reasonable. Let music live forever and get your children into fiat music. Many instruments and great people.
I havw been a student here for around a decade and I love Fiat!!!!
The place is decent but it could be better. They should clean up the old stuff that clatters the hall and dust the pianos. Also, the lesson room definitely could use some improvement in terms of the pianos and acoustics. They should tune them and apply new insulation. I think the lesson room is a bit too small.
Good store and nice service
Very knowledgeable on instruments
Junky store and over priced better deals online
I would give this place negative stars if I could. Went In to actually buy a guitar, started playing an acoustic softly and got asked to leave at 12:30 in the day. If you can’t play a guitar, how can you know which one to buy? No lessons going on either. Treated like a piece of S*** and All I wanted to do was give them business. Terrible experience, terrible establishment.
Had a drum lesson scheduled for 2:30. Teacher showed up at 2:45 and ended the lesson 15 minutes later. Most of the 15 minutes was not focused on teaching me drumming. What a disappointment.
16. Dan Chicorel Guitar

This is one of, If not thee best studios I have ever recorded in with a career span of twenty-six years and dozens of multi platinum studios because it has one of thee most knowledgeable Producers in the game hands down in line with the Dr. Dre’s, Zaytoven’s and Jazzy Fay’s if you are a artist and you get the privilege of recording in this studio with this multi platinum producer K-Lou don’t consider yourself lucky, consider yourself blessed!.
K-Lou has years of experience and makes great music. He is very talented and I highly recommend him for studio time or beats.
They never answer the phone so I never got to learn how good or bad they are but it already is a not so good experience when a business never answer the phone.
19. Berkeley Musical Instrument Exchange
Address: 2923 Adeline St, Berkeley, CA 94703 , East Richmond Heights , California , United States
Helpful, friendly, newbie-positive. My inherited instrument is 1000x easier to play than when I brought it in, and for a reasonable price. Thanks!
Best guitar shop in the East Bay. William, the shop owner, is straightforward and goes out of his way to ensure that you find the best guitar for you. Fair prices and you can tell he isn’t just trying to sell you an instrument that isn’t the right fit. Very willing to support with repairs or adjustments, even months after a sale. Highly recommend!
Great place
Nice little used instrument store. Really neat to see the workshop visible in the back.
20. Ifshin Violins
Address: 6420 Fairmount Ave, El Cerrito, CA 94530 , East Richmond Heights , California , United States
Renting 1 cello and 2 violins for my children. They provide quality of instruments.
Great violin and string family store/repair shop . They also rent good quality instruments.
Lots of music stuff
Kind and professional service
3.5 stars. This place has a nice selection of cellos and the staff is nice. I really disagree with their repair philosophy, however. They only repair specifically what is agreed upon, so if they see any minor additional scratches they don’t go ahead and repair those (even if it’s apparent they may become larger cracks). Other luthiers I’ve been to usually try to repair cosmetic issues all at once. What they do repair, they do professionally.
This is my LAST TIME I ever go to Ifshin violins. I have once again had to deal with the same RUDE, TERRIBLY MEAN, and CONDESCENDING lady at the front desk (Older Caucasian female with white hair and glasses). She has been working there for many years and enough is enough. A review was written about her just 28 days ago and I know exactly who they are talking about. I have watched her be rude to every single customer who walks in that store and it’s UNACCEPTABLE and SHAMEFUL. She claimed I didn’t have an appointment when she was the one who emailed me to schedule! She is THE RUDEST sales lady I have ever dealt with and it is such a shame because all the other staff are so helpful and kind. Like the luthier I spoke to today was extremely helpful and I had to watch in discomfort while this same rude lady made him uncomfortable. Must be very hard on her colleagues.
