Steve is a chill guy. I hang out around his venue.
Great place to see and hear live music. Look up streaming Steve’s at grassroots tv.org .Every Fridaynight 7:30-9ish.(on YouTube) you honestly don’t know who you will see.
This venue is incredible!! The acoustics, the wall to wall guitars, and the comfortable theater seats. Great place to see local musicians leaving it all on stage. Also able to meet Steve, and he is a genuinely beautiful soul with a passion to share this space and enjoy good music. Our little mountain town is lucky to have this venue, what a gem.
Intimate, beautiful guitar display. Fun nice place to get to know musicians upclose. Byob.
It’s ok
Intimate venue blanketed in an eclectic collection of guitars. Great for solo or small acts to play in, especially warm acoustics.
This place chronically doesn’t pay their musicians who play there. 50% cut of door sales?? No response when folks try to collect their earnings?? Support local music – not this place.

Mrs. Behrens is a very talented musician and teacher. As a principal and teacher many of my classroom students have taken lessons from her. She has helped many students become very successful. She has also taught one of my own children. She is to be highly commended as piano teacher for all ages.

The most unique art, dance and music venue in the valley! Must see to believe. Steve Cook’s creations are jaw dropping.
Awesome place
Music that moves you, clothes that make a statement, awe inspiring art in beautiful surroundings, I always enjoy my time spent here.
7. Bookbinders Basalt
Address: 760 E Valley Rd, Basalt, CO 81621 , El Jebel , Colorado , United States
Lady that helped me was pretty cool. Inquired about a book they didn’t have last week. They were able to order it. Called me as soon as it arrived. Pickup was fast and easy. Thank you.
Such a great spot! Friendly staff, good mix of new releases and perennial favorites. Well curated and happy to special order anything!
Its a small local book store with people who care!! Thankful.
Very unfriendly staff when I purchased a book for someone for Christmas. They stuck the receipt in the bag (instead of handing it to me and letting me know I would need it to return it) and when I came back to exchange (not return) the book they said the receipt is required and their computer system isn’t “sophisticated” to look up anything. Beyond frustrating. They’ve lost me as a customer.
8. GLENWOOD MUSIC
Address: 3102 Blake Ave D, Glenwood Springs, CO 81601 , El Jebel , Colorado , United States
Great place to get student instrument rentals and awesome customer service
I bought a new guitar online and it came to me in need of set up badly. Was on vacation and visited the store. The owner took a look and had his guitar tech teach me how to replace a string and set up the guitar. Cost me a pack of new strings. Was very impressed with the staff and found that being old school so was the staff rather than the younger sales people at Guitar Centers. I even came back and bought an Orange Crush RT35 amp and Cry Baby pedal for Joe the owner. On my next visit to Glenwood Springs I will be stopping in for a new toy and chat with Joe. Thanks guys!
Great music store! Staff is knowledgeable and helpful. Prices comparable to any online retailer in the USA. If its not in stock, they’ll get it for you. I also recommend the repair shop. They can fix almost anything regarding music instruments as well.
Took guitar lessons, glade I did..
Guess you’re not open until 6pm…
W H A T ?? I can’t hear you !! Lol. Yeah it sounds good . ha ha .
Some nice people working at this store, but unfortunately the guitar tech with the beard is so rude, egotistical, mean, and basically the opposite of customer service, that I would not be able to make any major purchases from this store. I certainly would not let them lay hands on any of my instruments. Fine if you want some strings or picks, but if you ask for a serious recommendation, you will likely be insulted rather than given any useful help. Unfortunately for the owner, guitar techs at any level are hard to fine. If you don’t like your job bro, quit and get a new job, it’s nobody’s fault except your own. Music is a social hobby, so maybe it’s just not for you.
Customer service is absolutely awful. The rudest staff I have ever had to deal with. They are so pompous and rude I am sad I gave them my money. If you aren’t knowledgeable about music DONT GO HERE, the staff is terrible to customers who don’t know music. I would recommend taking your business elsewhere or just shopping online. Not one member of the staff is nice and helpful, worst musical experience ever!
Not Very NIce or knowledgeable.Been in there several times to pick up strings or picks stuff i needed for that day. and it seemed liked they didn’t have time for me or my questions. Its a bummer because I own a live sound company and it would be nice to pick up all my supplies from a local store.
9. Vintage Ski World
Address: 1676 Co Rd 100 Unit N-2, Carbondale, CO 81623 , El Jebel , Colorado , United States
I ordered a vintage ski poster from Switzerland. Arrived about a week later. Everything from ordering to tracking the parcel was perfect. Poster came super well wrapped and protected with a hand written thank you note.. Pro + so thoughtful! Highly recommend, will order again. Keep it up
One of the most AMAZING skiing shops I have ever stepped foot into. This collection of ski memorabilia, artifacts, and culture that Rich has been amassing for decades is nothing short of a mini museum. Get in here and pick up a piece for yourself before the goods are gone. Online shopping was easy too, but better to explore in person if you’re going to be nearby. Rich has the stoke!!
Ordered a poster and came with a few creases in it. I immediately emailed the owner, and without hesitation he sent me a new one. The posters are very high quality and very much worth it!
Website is garbage
Great vintage ski stuff! Friendly staff and helpful with finding things.
Worst experience ever
10. Willits Town Center LLC
Address: 723 E Valley Rd Unit 200, Basalt, CO 81621 , El Jebel , Colorado , United States
We live in Willits and sell real estate here and absolutely love this part of town. We love how walkable this community is, how close it is to the best grocery stores, shops, restaurants, and bars in the Roaring Fork Valley, plus all of the RTFA bus stop access. This was an extremely well planned and well designed community and we would recommend anyone buy or sell in this area if they are new to living in the Roaring Fork Valley but don’t want to pay Aspen prices. Thank you for developing such a beautiful master planned vibrant community!
It’s a nice little “village”. Everything you need including a park that lets you walk by Roaring Fork river.
Best place to eat.
Some good places, but there need to be some better places
One stop shop for most needs. Whole Foods, Starbucks, Sports Bar, Mexican food, Asian Food, Italian Food, Sea Food, A small fountain and park for the kids to play in, TACAW Art center and the new Steadman Clinic. Willits has turned into a hot spot in the mid valley.

Hi there as a former resident ( originally from Liverpool England) musician lover many of my local musician friends would talk glowing about tge place i was wondering is your studio open to the public ( even for a quck visit) or do you have to book the whole studio? Thanks Thomas ✌
Awesome, transcendent, otherworldly, historic, bucolic- lotta adjectives can be used to describe Mad Dog and I think I have a character limit on this review. The whole property just oozes good vibes and the history of the place is palpable. It is just the ideal place to create. Julie, Tami, and Marc make the recording experience a dream. Cannot recommend strongly enough. If you want to record in Colorado, Mad Dog is the place.
Absolutely stunning in every way! The property itself is unparalleled, providing a sacred retreat for creativity to thrive, right next to the running water, and sheltered in the trees—it is the ultimate artist’s sanctuary. Not to mention the history, and the years of stories and great music that have established its inviting legacy.
The studio itself is outfitted with all the best gear, adaptable, powerful, and managed by the most welcoming team! Mad Dog is a model of inspiration. And you can’t help but feel that power as soon as you cross over the bridge.
14. The UPS Store
Address: 218 E Valley Rd #104, Carbondale, CO 81623 , El Jebel , Colorado , United States
I shipped a box a few months back and one of the items was damaged in transit (through no fault of the The UPS Store in Basalt!). I got the runaround with UPS, claim stalled… then I called Diego and he had the paperwork resubmitted and the claim finalized in less than a week! Diego was incredibly helpful, professional, efficient and went above and beyond to help me out.
In person, the staff at the UPS Store in Basalt was friendly and professional, got the job done and I’d highly recommend their services. 5 stars! Thank you!!
Diego and staff are so great! Diego took my live Peony plants home with him to care for them over the weekend so they wouldn’t be sitting in a hot truck! And he sent photos of the plant during its “stay” and getting packed up. Thanks Diego!!
Super friendly service. You make a mistake they will fix it for you. Love this place.
The staff are very helpful I have been with them for over 14 years and am very satisfied with their service.
Friendly staff, used to drop off a package only.
I went to drop off a package and there are signs everywhere saying you must wear a mask to enter. Well, when I went in the employees are not wearing masks! So I’m required to wear one but the employees are not? Then the guy who helped me was incredibly rude, I’ll go elsewhere for now on.
Do NOT get passport photos here! The store and its employees are nice but take terrible photos. When my husband went to Walgreens to get a different photo, they said the UPS photo would have been rejected because of the lighting, distortion, and not showing the shoulders. Save your money, go to Walgreens.
Ive had 3 horrible experiences here. Worst customer service ever!!! I’ll just drive to Glenwood store, not worth the aggravation of these condescending and rude counter staff.
