Very helpful! Got my first guitar here years ago! WILL DICKSON and JAGUAR JAKE are juts ignorant and mad! THE WORLD DOESNT REVOLVE AROUND YOU insignifiCUNTS!!
This is my go to place for gear and repairs! They do an amazing job and are helpful with selection of all sorts. Support stores like this that give lessons, repairs and more! Well worth the trip!
Staff is really nice and knowledgeable, need more small businesses like this. Real personable
The service here is absolutely amazing! Friendly people, who are willing to get to know you and want to help you in your musical journey. Small and sweet store with lots of possibilities. I recommend this store to anyone from beginners to experienced.
They had a book I needed.
The absolute worst experience. They do not charge your card properly for payments. They do not return phone calls and when they answer it always is someone else you need to talk to. When they mess up and don’t charge you, nor answer calls, then you get a pounding knock at the door at 9 at night serving you. Then when you pay the entire note they give you no ownership papers.
This company is a joke. They are rude and steal from people.
Buyer beware. To many other places to shop. Thanks for the worst experience ever and I will spend a lifetime avoiding anything music depot. It anything you fundraise or sponsor.
Totally disgusted customer in Colorado!!!!!
No selection whatsoever, prices are not great. I’ll drive to music go round in Fort Collins
I purchased a Teton acoustic loved it after a couple of weeks it started to have a lot of buzzing when played that’s to be expected it came with a free set up but to get that done is not a easy thing to do it’s always two weeks from now no appointments! Just bring it in so I don’t think I will be back for the amp or what ever else I needed I will have to pay to have it set up ! And it was in the price ! Not a cheap guitar!
Gina is a consummate musical instrument expert, especially when it comes to Flutes, Horns, and the litany of Brass Band instruments. I reached out via email to her business after hours and received a return phone call immediately and she proceeded to run me thru the gamut of her Saxophone collection on hand and educated me on each and every one I inquired about and lastly she offered an a phenomenal deal on a mint condition Sax that I would have been foolish to bypass. To top it all off she had the instrument overnighted to me (unbeknownst to me). My inspection proved that she was spot on in her description on the instruments condition. I can’t give enough accolades to Gina and her team. Thanks a million Gina!!!
Ordered a used king trombone. Was in really good condition. No surprise damages or anything, I’d order from here again
We were looking for a professional Getzen 3062AFR bass trombone online for WEEKS, when we came across this store. We were able to get the Getzen 3062AFR bass trombone used (but in impecable condition) for an excellent price. A new Getzen 3062AFR is very expensive, so we eagerly bought it. As we purchased it, Gina was very helpful and gave us photos and a thorough description of the instrument. As the product shipped, we were frequently updated on where it was on its process. An amazing store.
5. Sax Alley
Address: 561 E Garden Dr UNIT E, Windsor, CO 80550 , Evans , Colorado , United States
Always a great experience when I get to go visit Sax Alley in Windsor. Tim and his staff know so much and are willing to let you try anything out, to help you find what really fits you and your instrument. Love the atmosphere, the friendly no-rush assistance, the countless amount of mouthpieces and saxes to try out, and just the overall feel of Sax Alley. Keep doing what you do!!
The only place I trust with any saxophone questions or repairs. So very helpful.
I am very grateful for sax alley. Tim is of the highest integrity, 100% trustworthy and professionalism. His instruments are the best and best priced on the market. He makes sure they are playing optimally beforehand.
6. Music Go Round
Address: 2925 S College Ave, Fort Collins, CO 80525 , Evans , Colorado , United States
It’s a relatively small store, but usually packed with equipment. The staff is super helpful and knowledgeable. I’ve been going in for about the last year and rarely leave disappointed.
Brandon and the rest of the crew at Music Go Round are VERY helpful. This place has time and time again been my band’s go to for sick deals and trade-ins. Thanks dudes
These guys RULE. I decided to upgrade from a cheap beginner guitar and have been drooling over the Norman style. Found one here online and it was such a good price and in INCREDIBLE shape. No other guitar deal even came close to this price and quality (and I searched for three weeks before buying). Fort Collins music go round, thank you so much for the great instrument. I’ll be making memories with it for years to come!
I went in tonight around 6pm to pick up some bass strings. When I walked in, I asked for recommendations on bass strings, as I’ve only bought guitar strings before. The man working there didn’t even come fully out from behind the counter to assist me and made a rude comment when I jokingly asked “What strings does Geddy Lee use?” (The bass player from Rush.)
Honestly, it’s not about the bass strings, the inability to walk fully from behind the counter, or the rude comment and attitude. It’s the fact that I’m trying to support local businesses, and EVERY TIME I go to this store, I’m treated as if I’m an inconvenience.
At Guitar Center, I’m always treated with respect and courtesy. It’s making it really hard for me to want to keep supporting this business when I know that I’ll be treated better somewhere else. A small dose of customer service goes a long way.
If they pretended they were happy to see me just once, it would make a difference. I wear the store’s t-shirt, for crying out loud.
Good deals and knowledgeable staff .
Asked about where to repair my amp, told him I had it looked at by a local sound guy that has been repairing amps for decades(including four of mine, which I was very happy with) but wasn’t sure if I wanted to return it to the factory to be refurbished. The guy behind the counter(the manager) took that opportunity to bash the guy I went to(pretty excessively), and try to convince me his amp guy would be better than having it factory refurbished. It was rude, unprofessional and I’m doubt I’ll ever be back in the store.
Came in with my wife yesterday. Picked your sign off the ground on my way in the store… someone thanked me. that was the only employee interaction I had in 10 minutes of browsing. Not a single person offered me help or asked me if I wanted to play anything. I was here to spend money. you have 500$ shecktor that would have been sold. and the 170 bass would have been also. and a wireless pickup system. but i felt like i wasn’t valued, i grabbed a couple strings and left. oh well i guess?
Good music store but don’t sell them your musical instruments – they value everything on ebay and offer you less than 10% of its value. Offered me $50 for a very old German violin which I sold on craigslist for $800 which was about the value of the instruments I could see them looking at to compare against on ebay
Do not sale or buy equipment from these crooks. I came down from Wyoming to sell my speakers which they said on the phone they would make an offer. They offered $5 for my speakers which sell for $400 new a piece. When I said that $5 wasn’t a real offer I was cussed out so I left and ended up buying a guitar at Guitar Center instead of one of theirs. I have since sold my used gear online for way more than $5. These people insult your intelligence so they can rip you off for their benefit and cuss you out if you disagree with them.
7. Downtown Sound
Address: 330 E 4th St, Loveland, CO 80537 , Evans , Colorado , United States
Great service, super friendly, awesome selection! Anyone who appreciates timeless music like John Cusack in High Fidelity, this is the place for you.
It is a great store to find vinyl. I found alot they have a really big selection.
Went looking for used cds, found a few old favorites. Staff was super nice
Great shop. Great vintage stereos and records. Extensive selection.
Pretty good selection of used vinyl in mostly very good condition for good prices, especially late 60s-early 80s stuff. The owner is very knowledgeable and has been very nice and happy to help in my experience, going above and beyond what I would consider the call of duty.
Leaving one star off for room for improvement. Certain genres are underrepresented. They aren’t the most generous store regarding trade-ins, though that may be based on my experience offering the same type of thing they already have plenty of.
Overall very good experiences and there are always great deals to be found for the open-minded music adventurer.
Great people who worked there only reason for 3 stars otherwise would be lower. Biggest issue is they have super limited selection especially in new vinyl. Have stopped by a few times and lucky if I see 1 brand new release. Honestly go to Barnes and Noble if you are looking for new vinyl. Old vinyl you may be lucky and find what your looking for though.
Record Day was handled really poorly here, unfortunately.
They have about 5000 records no one wants. Called the day before to ask if they had some different artists and the guy tells me oh ya a ton. Come the next day and there was NOTHING
Says it’s open, no one in the store no one picked up the phone
I took 2 guitars in yesterday. Mine had some buzzing frets and I wanted a clear pick guard installed on my daughter’s. I went to Guitar Center first. The staff was decently friendly but nothing exceptional. All the staff looked super young. The guitar tech’s name was Alex and he also looked very young. (That’s ok if they know what they’re doing, but my experience here suggests that they don’t.) I was quoted $10 for installation + 7.99 for the pick guard. Fine. But after the “tech” looked at mine, he quoted me $120 for a full fret level and recrown with a 2 week turn-around time. That didn’t sit right with me so I took both guitars and went down the street to Spotlight.
At Spotlight I was greeted much more warmly. The first employee looked at my guitar immediately and said he didn’t think I needed a full fret level and recrown but he would have to get the repair tech over to check for sure. The tech came over shortly thereafter. He found the buzzing frets, pounded them back down with a hammer and adjusted the truss rod. No more buzzing! On to my daughter’s guitar, the clear pick guard was $6 and he installed it for free while we watched. When he was done I asked if he could make the action a bit lower for her so he adjusted that also. I walked out having paid $11.95 for what I wanted done to BOTH guitars when Guitar Center wanted more than that just to put on my daughter’s pick guard. I will never go to Guitar Center for repairs again. I probably won’t shop there, either, unless I really want to buy something that they carry but Spotlight doesn’t. I wish I had gotten the guys’ names.
The staff at Guitar Center is either incompetent or taught to be dishonest to make more money. Either way I’m not comfortable trusting them with my precious instruments. Take your guitars to Spotlight!
1st time shopper with Spotlight Music. I must say that I was very happy with my purchase and experience. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a great deal on instruments and gear accompanied with impeccable customer service. I will definitely be buying my next guitar from them as well. Thanks again Jen for the fantastic price and fast shipping!
Regards,
Mike
First off i work here. Not advertising for them i am only sharing my experience to help your experience. My biased opinion is that its a great store with the best guitar tech work in town, and we strive for good customer service. This being said…the employees working the front desk do not touch the repairs or generally have any idea what’s going on with them besides if they are done or not and what was written on the repair sheet. If you have questions about your repair you either wait for Rob to be there to ask him yourself. Or you ask us nicely in the store to call him so you may speak with him. What i don’t reccomend is interrogating the confused basic laborers until you’re in a frenzy and not give Rob the chance to explain the situation or make it right. A good number of us employees are here because we love the musical community. A few of us including myself are veterans. I also understand as an employe i represent the employer. Although i may have fought in Afghanistan and lost pieces of myself, my soul, and brothers to defend your freedom of speech, it doesn’t make it right to just disrespect a basic employee because they look like a stoner guitar player. If you have me in a corner of confusion apologizing, dont attack. We are all Americans here and we all need to love and respect each other and ourselves in these harsh times. Our pride of nation and each other will be the only thing that keeps us from falling like everyone else. So i beg of you as customers once again, if you have any questions about your repair.
1. Stay calm
2. Ask nicely
3. If the individual working seems confused, its because they are, so just wait to contact your proper information authority. Being the owners and managers.
4. Treat everyone the way you want to be treated. Because some folks have quite literally been trained in “Give respect, get respect.”
Finally i apologize if anyone reading this feels singled out. Trust me you aren’t alone.
The atmosphere is friendly, and this is clearly not a corporate chain establishment. Unfortunately, they no longer carry Taylor guitars.
.
I’ve got a Breedlove Stage Pursuit, 7 years old, played nearly an hour every day. Prob needs some setup by July 1 for getting back on-platform at Timberline Church. Do you have a tech available (a number of guitar stores – including Guitar Center – say they don’t have one anymore) who could do the work? Would love not to have to drive up to Cheyenne or down to Denver. Thanks.
nice selection of guitars and equipment ,and associated equipment … of string’s piks & suff!
Called to ask about violin lessons for my 8 year old. They gave me the number to their teacher. Said she would return my call within a couple days. 8 days later I got a call and set up a lesson. I arrived at the lesson with my very excited 8 year old 10 minutes early. Katie (the teacher). NEVER showed up. We walked away with a very sad 8 year old and a PISSED mom. NEVER will I shop or recommend this store. Awful experience!!!!!!
It was the worst customer service. All I needed was my guitar tuned up. I was given a time quote for when the guitar would be finished. When I called to ask about the guitar after the time quoted, some one told me, it wasn’t done and it would be another 3-4 days. When I asked why I was told the original time frame, and what changed that a tune up would take 5 days instead of the 1-2 I was originally quoted, the response I got was, “Well, I don’t know what to tell you.” The customer service was deplorable. I decided to go pick it up with out the work being done. When I picked it up and made a comment about why couldn’t someone have figured out how to quote it correctly, or at least notify me when they realized it was going to be longer, the guy I spoke with at the shop was rude, and even suggested that the reason it wasn’t done was somehow my fault. So, not only did I have to go pick up a guitar after it was not worked on I was then told I was also my fault that the it never got worked on. After years of me having exclusively shopped at Spotlight. I will never ever return.- As a local business I expected that customer service mattered. The current employees don’t reflect any of those values that I assume the owner does, unless I’m wrong and the employees DO reflect the values of the owner….unfortunate.
Flea markets have better warranty support
Cable companies have better customer service
Any Questions?
9. Music & Arts
Address: 238 E Harmony Rd Suite D10-12, Fort Collins, CO 80525 , Evans , Colorado , United States
We participated in the rental program. The program was easy to enroll in and for us worked great for our kiddo who played the violin. Many don’t know that there are different sizes of violins and the rental program allowed us to size up with ease.
After three years of renting, we made the decision to use our rental equity to get a new violin.
It was a great option for our family and appreciated the great customer service!
Hope is the BEST!! We went in to pick up school band supplies, and accidentally left without our practice pad. The next day Hope called to let us know, and even personally dropped it off to our house on her way home from work! Talk about exceptional customer service. Thank you, Hope!! We appreciate you!
Excellent service! I stopped in for clarinet reeds for my son and wasn’t sure which of the several brands and thicknesses he needed. The store associate looked it up for me based on his grade and teacher, helped me locate them, explained the differences, and even gave me an additional discount that I didn’t even know I had.
The staff are nice & know their products.
Got a speaker that came without a charging cable for some reason. They gave me a new one. One of the employees even went above & got a part I was looking for. Out of curiosity & to have something in the store. No problems with the store whatsoever. And I’m a hard please Lol
While the local store workers are nice and helpful, the main office (which deals with all policy and billing issues) is the worst. Their customer service is horrible and they make no (real) attempt to help customers resolve the mistakes made by the company. They don’t listen at all to what customers say. For example, last June and beginning of July, I was trying to return my son’s instrument because he was not going to continue orchestra at school. The local store was closed and no one was there. The doors were locked with a sign of store hours that wasn’t true (because I was there when they said they open). When I tried calling the main office, no one ever answered. When I asked them not to charge me for July, they refused, saying the store was open, which it was not. They continued this argument and immediately put me into their claims department. Please do yourselves a favor and do not deal with this company. There are much better local choices here in Fort Collins that actually respect their customers.
I wish i could say I had a good experience but a sales person who didn’t listen to me ended up selling me in a bad way and then i was only informed on pickup. you got me once, ill never come back though.
The store personnel is great and very helpful. However be wary of Music & Arts rental billing policy. I attempted to return a rented instrument no less than 5 times during March and April 2020, but the store was unattended. I called the store no less than 20 times as my credit card continued to be charged in April, May and June. I stopped payment from my credit card and after returning the instrument in July they are expecting payment for July as well. This is unreasonable policy and I suggest renting your equipment elsewhere.
