Very posititive, up beat woman named Ua, helped me more than once, when I needed help the most. Thanks for bringing her on board!
Great people!
Just collected a item there but it appeared to be a nice place to socialize
Sad to say..no neighbourhood watch available any longer!? Told to call the police number..I left an urgent message..no reply came back.. assistance is needed for break and enters…and other disputes
Private subdivision. Known for the beautiful foliage. 2000, 2 care parcels.
Formerly known as Crescent Acres because of the shape of the area.
All paved roads.
Not cool.
Gated Public Road, endangering surrounding communities meeting. Everyone was civil.
Couldnt find it and it was pouring rain

Absolutely Awesome .
I Definitely recommend dropping in.
Scored at this awesome place in downtown Hilo! Very knowledgeable and friendly. Check em out!
Spencer is a very personable individual who is very knowledgeable. The store itself is quaint and stock can be limited but it has pretty much everything that’s needed in general.
Drove an hour , website said open, answering service said open, closed during advertised business hours.
5. Hawaiian ʻUkulele And Guitar
Address: 212 Kamehameha Ave, Hilo, HI 96720 , Fern Acres , Hawaii , United States
The owner (uncle uke) was incredibly helpful and patient when I was shopping for my new ukulele. I found a nice one that worked for me. Handmade and designed in Hawaii, you can’t get much better. Reasonable prices and great service. Mahalo!
Very friendly and helpful staff. I came out with a new Koa Ukulele handmade in Hawaii. The staff spent a lot of time playing different Ukes for me until I found my perfect instrument. I highly recommend this place! Thanks!
Domenic is so kind and showed me how to play a few notes! Beautiful shop with lots of beautiful ukuleles
It’s a nice place and they have good quality.
This is a nice store with a knowledgeable and fun owner. Because of the prime location expect to pay retail prices. You can find cheaper prices if you shop around. I bought from him because he engaged my son and made it fun.
Unfortunately I can’t give 5 stars because the owner was unavailable to give lessons. He said he’s too busy and looking for a teacher, so things may change. I ended up taking my kids 2 blocks away to Hilo Ukulele and Guitar. Rick there gave the kids low priced lessons and threw some discounts for merchandise.
I guess if that store wasn’t available, I’d give this place a 5 star review. But competition does exist, which is great, so a solid 4 stars from me.
6. Music Exchange
Address: 75-5626 Kuakini Hwy, Kailua-Kona, HI 96740 , Fern Acres , Hawaii , United States
Nice staff. Hard to find in the mall with mostly boarded up / closed businesses. I thought they were closed (looked like the lights were off but don’t let that fool you…find them…its worth it)!
I have been to the Music Exchange in Kailua the last 2 visits.Got great great service from Gaven..he was patient generous and understood what I was looking for.It was a real priviledge to buy my Koaloha Ukulele from him ..I would reccomend him and the store very highly..as best place in Big Island to buy instruments.Ask him to tell you the story of what happened today I’m sure he will not mind sharing it..mahalo nui loa Gaven

Friendly and knowledgeable service
These guys usually have what I need and their prices are reasonable. Great repair shop as well.
I’ve been here twice. The first time I stood off to the side, but in view of the clerk. I stood there for at least 15 minutes, while 2 different customers were attended to. I wasn’t even spoken to.
The next time I went in to buy some finger picks. I was spoken to, or maybe grunted at, while the attendant restrung an electric guitar.
I’ve had enough.
Waited outside patiently for 30 minutes during an employee break. When the employee opened the shop again he told us to leave as soon as we stepped in. Giving no explanation, just saying “goodbye”.
Service was awful acted like I bothered them by asking questions about ukulele. I will buy somewhere else.
7. Mt View Village Video
Address: 18-1323 Old Volcano Rd, Mountain View, HI 96771 , Fern Acres , Hawaii , United States
This is both my work place and a favorite place of mine to rent movies at a cheap price. We have new movies every Tuesday, popcorn, snacks, and soda all at very reasonable prices. Even before I worked here it was a nice place to come to find some weekend movies with a nice atmosphere and good customer service.
8. Kindworks Music & Art
Address: 79-7401C Hawaiʻi Belt Rd, Kealakekua, HI 96750 , Fern Acres , Hawaii , United States
Wonderful people and great service. Great selection of fine instruments. Instant connection and made me want to come back and I live in Dallas TX. So glad I stopped in. Thanks Gunner and crew.✌️❤️
Lovely store with a kind man who definitely knows what he’s talking about and can help with music needs on the spot. Kind service and repairs with beautiful inventory of high-end and inexpensive quality ukuleles, guitars, strings, T-shirts, and even beautiful art pieces. No need to go anywhere else.
What a fantastic store right in the heart of the shopping district Randy and the team can take care of all of your music needs. This is a new store and still growing! Already It has a sense of Ohana.
Cool Gifts and more handcrafted art works will be coming soon. Whether you’re musician, Tourist or local stop in it’s worth a visit.
Spent $20 on gas to arrive 30 minutes before close and found out they were already closed….an update on hours would be appreciated.
9. Soundwave Music
Address: 74-5599 Luhia St # F6, Kailua-Kona, HI 96740 , Fern Acres , Hawaii , United States
These guys are really knowledgeable, they’ve been there for years and years single of what they do if you’re lucky you might catch one of them noodling on the guitar while you’re strolling through
Obviously the best guitar/music shop in kona
Awesome owners
They have knowledgeable staff and usually have what I’m looking for. If not, they give referrals.
Good prices, good variety of gear. Guitars and amps a great value. Hard to find, keyboards are a bit dated. Knowledgeable staff, fun atmosphere. Great place for musicians.
Visited the store yesterday to buy 2 ukuleles. There were 2 customers ahead of me. Staff spent ample time with those customers and I waited patiently. I appreciated the attention that was given to them and I was looking forward to the same treatment. After 50 minutes (yes, 50 minutes), it was finally my turn. After speaking to me for 5 minutes, he excused himself to talk to the customer who just entered the store. I was dumbfounded. After a couple of minutes, when it was apparent that he did not want to help me, I left. I don’t know what I said or did, but it was clear that he didn’t value my time or wallet. I wasted a lot of time and he lost a sale.
10. Keaau Buy & Sell Inc
Address: Plaza, 16-566 Keaau-Pahoa Rd # 144, Keaau, HI 96749 , Fern Acres , Hawaii , United States
Came from north dakota and was treated like family when I walked in the door. I couldn’t be happier with my purchase. She took the time to explain the different types and which one would best suit me. Wonderful all the way around!
A great souvenir stand, and they have a nice selection of decent, B grade, ukuleles. Their prices are fair, the instruments are lovely and more than adequate for all but serious musicians. Even they might choose one here for a knock-around, less than four figure player. Mahalo, from a 2018 buyer.
Small store, mostly low-end ukes, limited selection of accessories. Good for those looking at getting into ukulele. The gentleman that was selling the ukes said he doesn’t play ukulele so you may get the same basic info that you can research online yourself.
Nice Ukuleles but a little pricy
Unfortunately this shop no longer exists.
Doesn’t seem to exist anymore. Store is vacant. No idea if they’ve moved somewhere else or just another COVID casualty.
Was looking for a Hawaiian made ukulele and salesperson directed us to specific model assuring us without hesitation that this particular one was made in Hawaii, Oahu to be exact. The instrument had no source markings on its internal label so we (naively) took him at his word. Took it home only to find that no, it was not made in Hawaii, it was made in China. The company is a Hawaiian company but some of their instruments, this model in particular, aren’t actually Hawaiian made. Disappointed we were misled.
12. Redbox
Address: 16-529 Keaau-Pahoa Rd ste l, Keaau, HI 96749 , Fern Acres , Hawaii , United States
Make sure there is actually a movie in the case. Happened to me 3 times in a month. Tried to let them know and they (Redbox) basically wanted me to do the work of fixing the problem even after I told them I was not able to do that.
13. Da Beans Green Coffee Café & Kava Lounge
Address: Attached to Pele’s Hana ‘Ana Hostel, 17-937 Volcano Rd, Mountain View, HI 96771 , Fern Acres , Hawaii , United States
As a long time caffeine addict, I was surprised to find something I’d never heard of! Shortly after arriving, an employee asked if we had heard of raw coffee and explained it to us prior to us ordering just so we could understand what we were getting ourselves into. We were not disappointed! The flavor was extremely different from any coffee I’ve had before and their creamy dream is absolutely fantastic. The lox bagel was way more food than I anticipated and probably one of the best I’ve ever had. I would definitely recommend this place if you’re in the area!
Vegetarian options: They had several options that were vegetarian and they weren’t all just smoothies!
Dietary restrictions: A lot of the drinks were already made with coconut milk, which made my lactose intolerant tummy quite happy.
Had one of their burritos the other day and it was so ono! Every bite was delicious. I can’t believe I ate the whole thing. It was huge portion, but so good I couldn’t save any for later
This place is a must!!!
We are from Montreal:
Such a nice experience, great service, amazing drinks (raw coffee & smoothies) and probably the best smoked salmon bagel I’ve ever had.
Thank you!
Missed you
Hope
Service is great!
Food is good but could be better for the price, my friends and I were dissatisfied with the amount of food we got. We felt hungry after finishing our meal.
Visited because of all the good reviews but I’m not really impressed. Costly for what you are getting…I also had stomach issues after a latte here which disrupted much of my trip here.
Great seating area lots of art
The food wasn’t good not a real bakery
The muffins are from Costco.
Worst coffee on the island.wehad to throw it away
14. Nanala Sunset Farmers Market, second and fourth Monday 4-7 pm
Address: 16-296 Orchid Land Dr, Keaau, HI 96749 , Fern Acres , Hawaii , United States
A smaller market, but really good music, really yummy food and baked goods. I had a great time, it’s running Monday 4-7PM the 2nd and 4th weeks. Really kid friendly, a variety of local goods from art, to plants, to Indian Food, Ulu cookies that are really underpriced, nice Mamake Tea and fresh kombucha. I really enjoyed the Tiki Masala, it’s something I can’t get in my area and I really missed it. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who enjoys live music, less of a crowd for outdoor shopping or small markets. The music made the market come alive and the variety of things to shop for was really enjoyable for me, but especially for my kids.
This market is super cozy and relaxing. Great vibes and music. Vendors selling their locally grown produce was such a nice thing to see. I loved that they have a special spot for the keiki to play and my baby could crawl around and play with the children.
This quaint local market has become one of my fast favorites! It has a great family vibe with a kid’s area and music. Very nice local vendors with prepared food, fruits and veggies, fantastic plants, homemade products, and more! Its already a staple and has the potential to become even better as more people discover this local gem!
15. McDonald’s
Address: 16-565 Old Volcano Rd, Keaau, HI 96749 , Fern Acres , Hawaii , United States
Used my McDonald’s app to order a take out at the Wal-Mart location and it was ready in 5mins. Just walked in and picked up the order which was sitting at the counter. Avoided waiting or standing in line…lol.
Didn’t even have water there.
I usually bash McDonald’s for their horrible service. this place has a great friendly customer service.
They have coffee.
Ygg
They get the order right 9 times out of 10
Parking: Drive through line can cause parking jam.
We stopped eating here when we became aware that a new study published in Nature reveals that phthalates, a chemical used to keep plastics soft, and similar chemicals were found in food purchased from McDonald’s, Burger King, Domino’s, Pizza Hut, Taco Bell and Chipotle. Phthalates are linked to a host of health issues in children and adults.
Coffee is great!
They always screw my order
