I had never played an instrument before coming to Fletcher Music Center in Tucson. What a thrill to play my favorite songs.
easy to learn fun and keep s u interested in music
Started 4 months ago, having never played before. Am actually playing songs and loving it, thanks to Fletcher Music.
My friend bought a lovely Lowery Organ in November of this last year…..8 months old. He died 2 months ago, I called Fletcher Music to see about a consignment….they offered us 200.00 !!!! Wow I have a receipt here for 8,649.63 dated November 7 2019….that my friend is some really outrageous depreciation. Run fast from this business, run!
Employees were rude and unwelcoming.
Don’t schedule with them to perform for your facilities.
They will schedule with you, then not show up. Then when you call to see what happen they will claim there is no record of anything ever being scheduled. We will be doing business elsewhere.
2. Chicago Music Store
Address: 45 S 6th Ave, Tucson, AZ 85701 , Flowing Wells , Arizona , United States
Stopped in to sell a few old pieces from my collection and was blown away! They offered more than fair prices and I picked up an awesome little line 6 Amp in the process
. Thanks guys be seeing yall again soon!
Friendly and helpful
Mark moved in 1990 – and he and his son and grand-parents have had Tucson’s BEST all-around music store since music began, saving sales and state sales tax, shipping and years ago renting to the agent of Taylor, Justin, Trump, Bill Clinton, Michelle Obama and others since music began over 2500 years ago … seems that way every day at Arizona’s downtown music haven, shipment, fix-it and even MAKE-IT-WORK in sales #musicstore. Great key board and label/posters SCARES even for Halloween
They hade grate survies but they take to long to answer the phone and they should stay opend till at least 11:00pm and they should open at 7:00
Miss the old downtown store. Lots more cool stuff to find then. Now the new store feels kind of stuffy.
Went in to get instrument fixed and gentlemen on back knew what was wrong with it and fixed it.
They told me they only charge for the E string on a single re-string on my bass guitar during a phone call I had with them because i only needed one string to get fixed. Only to get charged about 20$ when I picked up my instrument, 17$ for the re-string labor & 3$ for the string?? i love this store but that did not sat right with me
I wish I didn’t have to give a bad review.
I hate saying anything negative about a local music shop, especially one who normally does so well with its customers, but I had an experience with their repair shop that is disappointing enough to take my business elsewhere.
I brought in an old trombone for a dent repair on the bell side, which yes they repaired quickly and at a good price.
But in the process they tried to adjust the slide and ended up knocking it so out of alignment it couldn’t slide back into 1st position.
When I pointed it out the tech made an attempt to bend it back to its original shape but unfortunately that only made it worse. after a few weeks in the case like that it ended up stuck shut.
I when I called the shop to look for a solution the tech said it wouldn’t be as simple as bending it back to shape, and instead quoted me a price to redo the slide, which is more than a new trombone would set me back
if I brought in a broken instrument and left with a broken instrument I could just accept it as a lost cause, but the horn played fine when I brought it in and is the only one I have.
I just brought it in for a cosmetic dent repair and I did not ask for the slide to be touched at all.
now I have to find a new repair shop or a new trombone, either way, I am disappointed by the outcome.
I’ve never had a store raise its price on an instrument while I was holding it. The owner torn the tag so quickly I almost dropped the guitar. “miss priced” $295 to $795. Repair person joked I should have bought it while I had the chance. Super unprofessional.
3. The Folk Shop
Address: 2525 N Campbell Ave, Tucson, AZ 85719 , Flowing Wells , Arizona , United States
This is the coolest music shop in tucson. A must see. Awesome owners, very friendly, and they let you jam.
Great local spot that lets their freak flag fly ! Awesome and unique selection with friendly staff. Will definitely be returning!
The best local music shop in town. Please support your local stores. Is a real gem in Tucson.
Such a cute little shop and my hubby loves his guitar
Putting an inanimate object ( guitar) in a five day quarantine seemed silly….especially after the tech spent 20 minutes in extremely close contact doing the inspection. The work was fine, the price was fair. The extreme lock down just turned me off….
Love the new ukulele room.
Well, over the years I’ve bought, sold, and traded with Paul and really wouldn’t do so again. The last guitar I purchased there had broken tuner barrels and more important, his pricing and moods vary wildly. Certainly lots to look at, but no great shakes in terms of quality or pricing.
Very rude disrespectful because I was asking for a part and I didn’t have a mask and I wasn’t trying to go in the place without permission and they were just very rude very very rude and I didn’t understand I was thrown off by it. Yelling at me for no reason all I wanted was a part I didn’t even try to go into shop told her I’d wait outside because I didn’t have a mask she slams door in my face. So I go get a mask and they won’t even deal with me I was the up most respectful and didn’t deserve that. Very very rude!!! I’ll never do business with them again.
I am absolutely incredulous as to how condescendingly I was treated over the phone by this place. I arrived with my Taylor 312-CE looking to trade up and quite likely spend substantial chunk of money. I noticed the posting on the door that read (I may be paraphrasing) “masks required even for those vaccinated.” I have been twice jabbed with Pfizer, but no problem. I get it. I understand it. People may not be fully honest about their status and might contaminate others. I have zero issue complying with the policy The posting also read “do not knock; call to be granted entry” (again, I may be paraphrasing, but this was the gist). I keep a KN-95 with me in the car but couldn’t find it. Maybe it fell behind the seat or something. I ring their number. A woman answers. Convo goes like this: “Hi, I noticed you require masks even for the vaxxed, which I am fully, but I can’t seem to find mine here in my car….I’m here outside….do you happen to have any masks there inside the store that you could pass out to me”? (like logical, sensible merchants across town, the state, the country have in abundance in case you forgot or can’t find yours—sterile ones for the taking in boxes) “If not, I don’t live too far. I can run home, grab one and come back”. The woman on the phone raises her voice and says “NO YOU NEED TO WEAR A MASK” and abruptly hangs up!! Um, I think I got that part and more than amply communicated it back. Wow. And delivered with a tone of voice akin to Mrs. Gulch from Wizard of Oz. I was perfectly polite, acknowledged the policy and was willing to go out of my way to comply. This is not only ridiculously bad policy, but there was not even basic intelligible, lucid communication on her part. Not the conduct of a sound minded individual.
Now, for some background. I have never made any major purchases at Folk Shop. However, I have patronized them over years–even before I moved to Tucson. The first time, I was recording an album visiting from Austin in 2014 and needed a dobro capo. The engineer called around to Guitar Center and few other places. They didn’t even know what a dobro was, much less a dobro capo. Folk Shop to the rescue with a Paul Beard capo, just like the one I had forgotten and left back in TX! I’ve been there since for strings, straps, stainless steel slides etc. Never ever the slightest of problems. What happened today is totally inexcusable. I myself have been fastidious and a stickler about masking and distancing throughout the pandemic, but this kind of post-mandate fanaticism, illogic and outright meanness is beyond the pale. They certainly don’t want my money or any of my future business. To hell with this place. l’ll buy a guitar from Musician’s Friend before stepping foot in there, even though I prefer to shop locally.

I went with a friend to get some guitar strings. We didn’t know the best ones to get so we asked the associate Lucy what we should get. She was very helpful and we left with some good info and the correct string. Would highly recommend this store, they have great workers and a nice vibe inside the store.
Abit more expensive than the guitar center.
Very knowledgeable and helpful staff.
Just want to say that I am a fan of this store. I think they do a great job at helping people find what they are looking for and have them leaving satisfied with their musical purchases. With that being said, I want to make a point that only having one store closer is unsafe. Multiple times in the past year I have heard of there being theft. I’m concerned for the employees’ safety and customer safety.
Protect your employees! They make the company money!
One of the worst experiences I have ever had dealing with incompetent employees all the way up to management (heaven) to even cooperate , I’m so thankful I no longer have to deal with any of these people again especially the guitar instructor, I did not appreciate every little comment he made about any of the equipment we brought in to shame my child because the items he brought in were passed down from his grandfather , I also find it way more convenient to order my items on Amazon for a much lower rate and to not have to deal with individuals that are looking to charge me an over priced rate , I gave a small shop a chance to help out locally and all they did was run the “he said she said “ experience, I will not and do not recommend this place to anyone , one of the worst experiences I have ever had at any facility . Good riddance !!!!
I used to be loyal customer for years. Howerver, M&A’s new strategy of “Paperless receipts”, requires that I provide my email address for a purchase. Their “paperless reciept” excuse is nothing more than a strategic excuse to obtain email addresses so they can spam. When I stated I do not provide my email, they refused to sell me a service. I have since found a local music store that is more friendly and will no longer use M&A.
I was very unhappy with the way this store sold us an instrument after we rented one for over two years. We qualified for the rental credit and it was given to us. The problem was that they valued the used rental instrument at $800+ and they sell the same one brand new for about $470. The reason they do that is that there is a clause that states that when using the rental credit one must buy an instrument that cost the same or more than the rental so they jack up the value of the rental. We were told that we couldn’t buy the flute we had been renting and could not get a new flute because it wasn’t equal or more value to the one we had been renting per terms of our agreement. They said that our only option was to purchase a used refurbished flute from the warehouse and it would be sent to us. We feel that this is a very shady way to do business. Not recommended. Updated; Thank you for your reply too, owner of the store. I have already sent an email but thanks for suggesting it.
5. Rainbow Guitars
Address: 2550 N Campbell Ave, Tucson, AZ 85719 , Flowing Wells , Arizona , United States
Speaking with Harvy and then Vic on the purchase of my Ric 330 they took care of me with golden gloves they setup my guitar exactly the way I wanted it, these guys are five plus stars!!! I will never buy another guitar anywhere else after this week of a horror show with zz sound sending back 2 Gibson Guitars that were terrible QC, love you guys they put all those other online big box stores to shame ! I’m a customer for life
The only place I will buy from in Tucson, from now on. Very happy!
We cannot say enough about the great service! Stefin Gordon really went out of his way to assist us and make our purchase possible. Such a great experience. Really, a cut above! Can we give 10 stars?
Big selection! And Drums….
Has the sense of everyone there at one point of their lives was or is a musician, but nonetheless the service is quick to help. Always ready to answer any questions you may have. They have just about anything you may be looking for to specific parts to instruments. I love it! Everyone is friendly and knowledgeable to their field/musical expertise. Check ’em out.
Great selection of new and used.
I have purchased over $10k of guitars from Rainbow, so I will say the selection is great. The customer service is possibly worse than any guitar center. The employees act like you are bothering them when you inquire about inventory or you feel like they are judging your ability to buy the instrument before helping out. Since they are now only online, you can find the same selection with better pricing elsewhere. PitBull audio out of San Diego has been my new go to. Same instrument selection, better prices and much more friendly staff. Chicago Music Exchange will also be more competitive with better customer service. Interested to see how long Rainbow can stay in business with this business model and a unhelpful/unfriendly staff.
Not my favorite place. They have this attitude that they are more important then the player they are there to serve. I can’t stand businesses that are of the attitude that we as players are there to accommodate them. They are there to serve us. Since Rainbow seems to have lost sight of this basic premise, I would recommend you look elsewhere for your musical gear needs. Because this place will only disregard those needs. If you do purchase something from Rainbow Guitar, they will with a smile on there face, overcharge you. I mean REALLY overcharge you. I have given business to Rainbow over the years. But that is going to change. I would rather go to Phoenix for my gear needs then suffer the pompous attitude and overpriced merchandise that Rainbow is offering. I was charged 20 dollars for a capo. I dare them to say they didn’t do it. Bust out your receipts Rainbow. I dare you. But won’t hold my breath.
I went to the store today and the gentleman said I can only come in by appointment only!!! No where online does it say it’s by appointment only!!! This is a joke for a small business retail store. Extremely disappointed!!! Will take my business elsewhere and tell everyone I know to do the same. What a Joke!!!
6. Chicago Music Store
Address: 5646 E Speedway Blvd, Tucson, AZ 85712 , Flowing Wells , Arizona , United States
Ryan in the service department is the best! Very knowledgeable and friendly.
If ya have some help then we regret to let you use any of it………….
In any case yoar hart is here
Great staff , products … very cool
I highly recommend
Helpful and friendly. Very knowledgeable about the product and give you space to look around.
I talked to jim the repair guy and he was super helpful and knew exactly what I was talking about.
Pretty good selection of instruments other than no ovation guitars. Didn’t have the product I was looking for and the desk manager is very pushy about selling. Other than those, decent store.
The guitar technician is one of the worst I’ve encountered in the many years I’ve been playing guitar. He was VERY rough with a 1300 dollar guitar. In his haste and carelessness he damaged a flamed maple top. He shrugged his shoulders and said, “that is what happens when you work on a guitar”. I can’t imagine the damage he creates behind customer’s backs. His methods of examination and his repair knowledge was at a staggering incompetent level. I DO NOT RECOMMEND going to this technician. Don’t know his name. Just best to stay clear from any tech from the store on speedway.
For people who play guitar with left hand beware not the place for you to expensive but for people who play with there right hand good choice for you
Was doing rent to buy they gave me a broken instrument that didn’t work then I took it back the next day they accused me of breaking it then made me pay a hundred and fifty dollars to fix it even though I didn’t break it
7. Metro Gnome Music
Address: 4044 E Speedway Blvd, Tucson, AZ 85712 , Flowing Wells , Arizona , United States
Great place to get and only place to get your tannus tubeless tires. These are the best tires for any bike and you’ll never have to worry about a flat again. Love them
Reps are helpful and very nice. They really know what they’re talking about! Will return again and again. Recommending to everyone!
The can repair or sell your instrument, or sell you a new one. They also sell bikes and bike accessories. I don’t know much about the bikes, but they do a nice job with the horns!
Low stock
Simply love it.
A real cool shop, bikes, musical instruments, old stereo equipment, old vinyl! The place has a very good instrument repair shop too!
Will not do business with anymore!
I thought it was a music store, but it is a bike store
When Selling, be Sure to look up your item on all price levels to know your stuff b4 going in or Todd will be sure to set-up his search to show you the least offer poss since he “Don’t know what a used instrument” like yours sells for.
1st time= Shame on You
2nd time= Shame on Me.. there won’t be a 2nd time.
8. Instrumental Music Center Speedway
Address: 7063 E Speedway Blvd, Tucson, AZ 85710 , Flowing Wells , Arizona , United States
Michael S thank you for taking care of the situation that is the way to do business. Will be going back
Awesome job and excellent price great customer service
I would go to IMC over Guitar Center any day!!! Best selection of sheet music in town, good deals on small gear. They’re the only place in town that carries my favorite guitar picks.
Decent selection and staff very knowledgeable
Decent music store. Friendly employees. Nice variety of instruments.
Got my guitar strings, good customer service
Not pleased at all. I called ahead to get instruments repaired and was told it would be two weeks. I drove to drop off instruments and asked if I could have them done a few days sooner. I was told the repair person is taking a vacation and it would be 3 weeks. But, if I wanted to pay double, I could have it done sooner. What a scam! I will never do business with this music store.
I’m not sure what this store is doing but I’m pretty sure it is illegal. I did a Google search for Metronome Music and when I clicked on the link this store came up. I don’t like being misled or deceived and I will never take my business here. Shame on you
Place is ok but prices are high
9. Zia Records (Speedway – Tucson)
Address: 3370 E Speedway Blvd, Tucson, AZ 85716 , Flowing Wells , Arizona , United States
Love this place. Cheap movies are always here! Plus more!
My brother and me have been a Zia’s customer fan for over 30 years. We took a road trip to Tucson’s only Zia’s store. Now we have bragging rights and can honestly say that we visited every Zia store in Arizona including the 2 stores in Las Vegas, NV.. Zia is iconic and should be considered a historical landmark!
Went in to get an appraisal. Staff were friendly, but not to up to date on rare records.
I really enjoy this store. You can find things here you can’t anywhere else!
Very helpful staff and a wide selection of music and movies.
Pretty decent prices and a wonderful selection of vinyl, CDs, DVDs, etc. The reason for 2 stars is the people that work there. The Zia stores in Las Vegas and Phoenix are staffed with helpful and knowledgeable people that are happy to help, but the people at this particular store seem annoyed at the mere thought of helping you out. I hope it changes because Zia is one of my favorite places to go and I would rather not drive into Phoenix.
I ran into the store at night, the doors were unlocked and there were people standing in line at the register. I wanted to buy IT Chapter 2. The girl at the register said, “Just so you know we are closing in a few minutes.” I said “No worries, I am not here to linger, I am here to buy IT Chapter 2 and then I’m gone.” I went into the Horror section and started quickly scanning the shelves. Then my Fianceé came up to me after I overheard the girl speaking to him. She told him that we had to leave and they could not ring us up because they were closing. I already had the movie in hand and I was making my way to the register when I heard that. It had been a total of 30 seconds since I first came in the door and she told me they would be closing in a few minutes. So I put the movie back and left. When I got outside I looked at my phone, and it wasn’t even 10:00 yet. That really irritated me because I have worked retail and in every store I have ever worked at, if a customer comes in at the last minute you lock the doors so no other customers come in, wait until that customer is finished, unlock the doors, let them leave, then you close up the store. In my situation, the door was unlocked, customers were still checking out, I took all of 30 seconds, and it wasn’t even closing time yet, I still had 4 minutes left. So I took my business elsewhere to buy my movie, and will continue to take it elsewhere if the staff continues to be that rude.
Took some trade in. The inexperienced girl behind the trade counter couldnt get the turntable to work because the belt fell off i showed her how to put it back on..she fumbled with it stretching out the belt and in turn the record player didnt work correctly. They refused to do anything about it. They like hiring these little kids who know nothing. There are plenty of other places to shop for music and movies. This place has turned into a joke with their little hipsters.
10. Music & Arts
Address: 9630 E 22nd St Suite 130, Tucson, AZ 85748 , Flowing Wells , Arizona , United States
Friendly, knowledgeable, helpful, and great listeners.
I went into this store looking for a certain guitar & helpful staff. This place was what I was hoping for & more. I’m a beginner again in guitar, both guys that were there, listened to what I was looking for, asked me questions helped choose the right guitar, accessories needed, & advice needed to safely store this guitar. This store is now my go to shop for anything music related!
100% recommend this store!
Really knowledgeable and friendly staff. 11/10 would definitely help them in the zombie apocalypse.
Very friendly. We’ll run store!
Nice enough store. Employees seemed cool. Owned and operated by Guitar Center. I still prefer local when possible, but this place is nice.
my son had saxophone lessons scheduled about a week in advance so we showed up to our appointment only to have the front desk guy tell us that he supposedly called me and left me a voicemail telling me our instructor cancelled us. i had no missed calls or voicemails. i left work early to bring my son, wasted time and gas having to drive 30+ minutes to get here. very unprofessional.
11. Wooden Tooth Records
Address: 426 E 7th St, Tucson, AZ 85705 , Flowing Wells , Arizona , United States
Wooden Tooth always has a wide selection of new and used records ranging every genre from rock and roll to grunge. I love coming here to expand my collection of 50’s & 60’s music & come here at least twice a month. TL;DR I LOVE THIS PLACE
Folks that run/own this place are super nice, inventory is always worth a look
The best place to pick up your favorites, from any genre. Hands on enthusiastic owner who loves what he does and is knowledgable, friendly and helpful.
Pretty cool place with live bands and tons of records.
Small but decent heavy metal section. Bought 3 records.
Not a huge selection, found a couple records in the 2.00 range but most are overpriced for being used. Not any better than going to Zip. At least at zia you earn points to get a future purchase half off and they have coupons too.
Horrible people. I have a bad back two torn rotor cuffs. They told me to load up these five or six thousand records and then they wouldn’t even look at them him what kind of people do that play with people’s emotions? Don’t even care if they hurt them thank you guys happy Father’s Day to me huh
Event on June 15 was well-intended but disorganized. The comedian chosen to entertain did not adjust his material to the audience present and may want to keep that in mind in future.
Drove all the way downtown to buy records but when we got to the door the person inside locked the door in my face! That’s why I shop online.
