Love this place. Knowledgeable counter help, buy/sell all kinds vinyl in good condition. Bargain used and new CDs, rare and odd stuff too.
Best record store in Sacramento. Lots of good stuff.
Accompanied my son and nephews on this trip.
Nice place.
Lots of good priced used cds. I’m not a big vinyl guy but the but the employees seemed knowledgeable and the had a big vinyl selection for these days. I would have given it 5 stars but I love to see other used books and comics, they had some DVDs and blu ray but barely any comics.
Good prices on cds
Decent selection, though not always well-organized – there were house/techno/other electronic records mixed in with the hip-hop 12″s, in an unlabeled section. The actual records available were solid. 2 stars for that.
But I hit 5 record stores in Sacramento today, and this is the only one I got talked down at – I asked whether there was a listening station, because there were some lightly scratched records I wanted to double check, and the annoyed-sounding word for word response I got from the guy up front was “no, but that’s what your cell phone is for.”
– basically saying I must not actually know what songs are on the records I want to listen to & telling me to go look them up instead. (My phone can’t help me hear what the playback on the scratched records is like!)
I got one record anyway, but I had better hauls and experiences everywhere else I went. Buyer beware. I’m clearly not the only reviewer who commented on the bad service.
They told me they buy used records. I did bring there over 100 records. The man chosen only 1 record to buy. He even didn’t check everything. Just told me that nobody is interested on it. I sold right there 3 records for some his customer. And after it he said that nobody is interested on my stuff…
Really disappointed with my visit today. I selected 7 records that came to about $200, 4 new and 3 used. I approached the counter and asked if I could take a look at the used ones (2 of which had no grade stickers on them at all). I was told no, I should just trust that they are good. Then the person had the cheek to ask me what turntable I will be playing them on.
I ended up walking out and won’t return, nice way to lose a repeat customer that tends to spend $200+ on each visit.
2. Kline Music
Address: 2200 Sutterville Rd, Sacramento, CA 95822 , Fruitridge Pocket , California , United States
Came here to buy a guitar. The selection was pretty good and the service was great too. Really friendly people work here and I really do appreciate that. I would recommend this place strongly
Great selection and a knowledgeable staff.
Generic employees for the most part. Music store should have more than just cash register operators. Bought a brand new fender strat and amp. The strat had a problem first thing, went back to ask about it and was told to just take it somewhere and have it fixed. Expensive products with no warranty. Music teachers not showing up for scheduled pre-paid lessons. Repeat business not a priority
Jesse was great to work with. Very knowledgable.
They didn’t have any product for me and inexperience help?
Wasn’t opened
I didnt go in but glad to know its still there
3. Capital City Loan & Jewelry South Sacramento (Fruitridge)
Address: 2385 Fruitridge Rd, Sacramento, CA 95822 , Fruitridge Pocket , California , United States
I gave 5⭐️ due to all agents, as soon as you walk in they are greeting you. They always go on and beyond to assist an any way they can. This is my go-to Capital City Loan jewelry Store.
Good customer service very friendly
Lots of inventory. Pleasant staff members
Great customer service, nice items!
I’m visit this store to pay the total amount of interest to extend the load was giving misleading information. Management refused to honor the wrong information the staff member gave. Not all employees are giving accurate information! Please verify info when it’s given.
Scam artists.
no stars. bad service. bad approach to customer service. will never go back. waste of my time specially if they do not know what you are pawning.
4. Guitar Workshop
Address: 3248 J St, Sacramento, CA 95816 , Fruitridge Pocket , California , United States
No one touches my basses, but Dave. My Alembic, fenders, and rickenbacker have all been to Dave’s shop and come out exactly how I want them.
He is worth the price, been to other “luthiers” who couldn’t hold a screwdriver In his shop.
Don’t mind the long turn around time either, makes sense that everyone in the area wants him to work on their guitars.
I also find it pretty interesting that most negative comments are people out of state or out of country. Click on some of the profiles and see for yourself.
I only let Dave work on my guitars. If I can’t fix it, he can. End of story.
I really like the experience I had dropping my guitar of for a pro setup! You can expect the best from Dave,at … Guitar Workshop!!!
Always been pleased with the work done on my my guitars but, doggone, the man lacks soft skills. Every time I decide to give him another chance I cringe for doing so.
Very poor customer service and honestly isn’t that the only reason to go to a place like this?
Editing my post after my last experience there. He refuses to use lemon oil, so my guitar smells like a dead fish again. I had him paint the body cavities with conductive paint and it was just really bad work. There was zero prep work done, spots that just weren’t bothered to be painted and the paint is already flaking off after a few months. Not to mention he just straight up missed huge spots in the pickup cavity. Just seems like lazy work. There was a lot of damage to the exterior paint as well. After complaining to him, he buffed out a few spots but other spots, like where the masking tape left a noticeable indent in the paint he basically told me there was nothing he could do and blamed it on the manufacturer for not using better paint. He’s delusional. Instead of allowing him to further butcher my guitar, I took it back and won’t let him touch another one of my guitars.
I think Dave is good for setups and electronics but I don’t think I’m bringing my guitars back to him after this and I would consider what I’ve said and look elsewhere for a competent luthier.
……………………………..
I had a fret leveling done on my strat. The work was finished before the quoted time frame and it was decent work. Frets were a little flat but it played okay. I recommend this shop for guitar work. Only negative was the linseed oil used on the fretboard. It smells like dead fish. Now I know to specify he use lemon oil next time.
Poor service, go elsewhere.
5. Music Exchange | Piano Store in Sacramento, CA
Address: 1537 Howe Ave Unit 206, Sacramento, CA 95825 , Fruitridge Pocket , California , United States
Music Exchange has a wide selection of piano from digital to acoustic. The prices are reasonable and they have their in house financing program if needed. The staff are very friendly especially Jeff G. who took time to provide us the best piano suitable for our needs. I would highly recommend this piano store to everyone who are looking to purchase for great quality and investment.
Matthew helped me a lot.
Walked in looking for a temporary piano to rent and I ended up getting a great piano. They do not offer rental but their pianos are so good it would be silly not following their advises.
I will be back next year after taxes and upgrade my beautiful Yamaha G5 for a C7 and I really can’t wait.
The staff is super helpful and accommodating.
The piano came with a year warranty and 5 years parts coverage so I’m looking forward to working with them again soon.
I was nervous about buying so fast
But They really made me feel at ease and gained my trust right away.
From outside looks like it was remodeled 50 years a go,, inside a lot of pianos very nice salesman, prices are high” , cheapest baby grand piano was like 12k
Where dreams come true
You can’t just came and check any pianos, you must have appointment with them
6. Fruitridge Bait & Tackle

STILL UP IN THE BLUES.. PAID TWENTY DOLLARS FOR TWO LURES, NOW THEY WANT MORE, BASED ON THE WEIGHT OF YHE LURE..SALES ARE FINAL ONCE AGREEDED TO BY THE BUSINESS? TRANSACTIONS SHOULD BE HONORED….
Never went in
Had to licences and good help
THIS IS NO LONGER A BAIT AND TACKLE SHOP…..
Prices are much higher than local bait shops. Sad, used to be a good shop.
I bought a fishing pole from them 175$ the pole broke at the tip I told owner he refused to even Accommodate me with a lesser value fishing pole I didn’t want a refund just another pole but I was turn away and told your stuck with a broke pole Very bad customer service I don’t recommend No want to go here
7. Skip’s Music – Sacramento
Address: 4614 Madison Ave, Sacramento, CA 95841 , Fruitridge Pocket , California , United States
LOVE IT! Great, Freindly place. Workers are very nice and its just a chill place.
Skips is one of the best music stores in the country. Love it, former employee and loyal customer.
This place rules. Staff is quite helpful
Ship’s has everything for singer/songwriter.
It’s one of those places that is what it is, a music store, with musicians working there.
Skip’s is the glue that has held the Sacramento music scene together for decades. They have a smaller inventory than Guitar Center, but if you’re looking for lessons, rentals, music programs, or knowledgeable staff, or if you just want to try the instruments without someone standing over you, this is still the place to go.
Returned rental and continued to be charged. Had to come back in person twice to get charges reversed. Better off going somewhere else to rent instruments, ripoff place!
Called and asked about inventory and selection on some dj equipment and was told they have “everything from high end to low end, come on down!”. Got there and they had 2, one low end and one high end, no variety. Seems like they’ll say anything to get you in.
I went to this store for a power conditioner. I purchased a Furman M-8lx for $189.95… it retails for $79.99 on Sweetwater. Had I not needed it immediately I would’ve never bought it. I understand a mark up but over 100 is absolutely ridiculous
8. Music Go Round
Address: 9163 E Stockton Blvd #310, Elk Grove, CA 95624 , Fruitridge Pocket , California , United States
My new favorite place!
Fair prices and knowledgeable staff.
I like this store so much , the staff are friendly and nice great customer service I will go back all the time
Friendly staff, had a small issue with something I bought and they took care of it immediately. Paul went well above and beyond!
Nice guitar. Fast service and shipping. Thanks!
Prices too high.
Cool concept, kind of a high-end pawn shop for music equipment. Great selection of guitars and amplifiers. The staff was friendly and helpful. I look forward to returning
You know it was an awesome store when it first opened owners gotten greedy prices are too high now they’re marked up at least 30% more than what the normal prices used to be yep the owners got greedy I know he’s picking them squires up bulk dirt cheap and he’s selling them for about 50 away from full price and beware buyer beware all their used fenders are stamped they say used they stamped the head stocks with a metal stamp
Called to get shipping price on an amp and was told that they don’t like to ship amps and it’s in store pick up only. Really??? You won’t hear Sam Ash or Guitar Center say that. They are happy to ship and take my money.
Bought a Saga Masterclone banjo from here. Neck was loose. Would not tune right. Took off the neck and put it on right. It still had buzzing and intonation problems. Tried adjusting it out but no go. The banjo has a great tone and I wanted it to work. I was assured that the banjo was ready to play before I bought it. Took it to a shop to find the problem and was told the truss rod was stripped out. I already suspected that. Let them know and no answer. They knew this was defective but sold it anyway. My order number is #M142824. Beware. They won’t stand behind their products. If it’s good when you get it fine. If it ain’t, your screwed. I would give them no stars.
9. Tim’s Music
Address: 6818 Fair Oaks Blvd, Carmichael, CA 95608 , Fruitridge Pocket , California , United States
My granddaughters have been taking lessons there for about 3 years now. The instructors are great, the kids enjoy the sessions and the lessons are very effective – the kid’s skills have improved by a lot!
I’m always able to find what I need at Tim’s. The staff is super friendly and knowledgeable, and they do lots of fun community events too!
Helpful staff, very knowledgeable and friendly.
Staff are awesome and new location is great!
Amazing selection of band instruments and excellent knowledgeable and friendly staff!
Great help
I have purchase and rented instruments here before. This time, five different staff said they would help, apparently what I wanted was not in stock and instead of letting me know, all left me waiting. After quite a wait we decided to leave. Someone caught us leaving and took our number to call and figure out how we could get ahold of the instrument. That was over 8 weeks ago, my phone never rang. They’ve lost a loyal customer.
This would be zero stars but a plug is warranted for John Doolittle’s sax lessons at the store of which I availed myself a couple of times. Zero stars involves me taking my alto sax there for repair. It’s over 50 years old but has had some restorative work done; fairly significant when I started playing again regularly about three years ago and more minor work several months ago and again following my unpleasant experience at Tim’s, the former by Kline Music and the latter by The Music Store in Rocklin. The guy at Kline is particularly known for his competence. The purported lead expert on reed instrument repairs at Tim’s told me my Selmer Mark VI needed a $1500 complete overhaul and they wouldn’t touch it for any lesser amount of work. The guy in Rocklin then fixed it for $65 and it plays just fine, as it did before it started acting up shortly before I took it to Tim’s. I played in church today and was complemented on my tone by their music director, who is a school music teacher and fellow owner of a Selmer Mark VI. An instrument in need of complete renovation obviously could not produce such a result. I got a different feel from the store than I did when I took lessons from Doolittle at the old location. Maybe they’ve bitten off more than they can chew financially but they’ve certainly lost my business.
10. River City Piano Co.
Address: By appointment, please call first, 1609 Dreher St Unit C, Sacramento, CA 95811 , Fruitridge Pocket , California , United States
Robert is very professional and gave great advice when I was deciding what pianos to rent. He definitely knows a lot about pianos. I am an experienced pianist, and being a customer at this store has been a pleasure. It’s definitely a very trustworthy store that I would recommend anyone who’s looking for a piano!!
They moved our piano over 200 miles and did an excellent job! We had been disappointed with a different moving service canceling and rescheduling constantly, but River City piano company was able to move our piano right away and stuck to the date, even though they had reduced staff. They had good equipment to move the piano too. I felt very confident that it was protected and taken care of during the whole process. I highly recommend them!
Very nice place to pick up a piano!
Used pianos from a guy that knows what he’s talking about. Prices are about double whatever Facebook or Craigslist is selling them for but he moves then himself and you won’t get scammed
I has a good time there.
Very an professional they don’t have pianos at the moment what does that mean?
Robert was very dishonest with me. Charged $50 more than we agreed on and the total charge was $400 for moving a Cline 6’1 piano. It was about 10 miles distance. He didn’t even bother to finish his job connecting the pedals back to the piano after moving. He was not professional. I would not recommend him to others.

Very good place to catch the train going north & south also 61 bus east & west there all four points of direction to get you just about anywhere in Sacramento, and connects to get to those bucks and hard to reach areas of our greater Sacramento the capital of California
easy access to street pArking.
One of the more thrashed lightrail stations. Most of the time there are homeless camped out, shooting up, taking dumps in the bushes. Lots of detritus scattered here and it doubles as a bus stop to some of the less desirable neighborhoods in south sacramento.
Often the cause of delays for patrons holding the train doors. Lack of SacRT security or enforcement.

13. Tague Music
Address: 8091 Greenback Ln suite H&I, Citrus Heights, CA 95610 , Fruitridge Pocket , California , United States
As a professional musician, my instruments have to be in better-than-new shape, ready for the wide variety of performance situations I typically play in. Kris not only is my one technician, but also a trusted friend. The whole staff are like family to me!
Tague Music repaired my VERY old Holton 178 (40 or 50 years). The thumb trigger valve had been catching for years, and now works great. I love playing my horn again, AND the price was very reasonable! Previous work at Tim’s Music was NOT as good. I’m really glad I found Tague Music!
Went there to continue with my guitar lessons. I had to quit my lessons about 3 years ago and decided to start up again.
September now and still jammin with lessons
The store was open but I even didn’t get to get in the store, I saw the atendent from outside and he just made a hands sign that I should wait.
Did a great job repairing a trumpet fir mu son! Really nice people.!
