I love these guys!! Everytime I go there when I need fast cash for items I have that are very valuable, they always give me more than I expected. This place is extremely well managed by the best in the business. GREAT JOB GUYS!!
Excellent Experience. Amazing Customer Service.
The staff is very friendly and helpful
Don’t go here to buy a gun. Even if you show your carry permit you will be background checked and if you get the height or weight wrong they’ll deny you worst experience I’ve had go anywhere else
My husband who is a disabled veteran was questioned by an employees, because he parked in the handicapp parking spot. He continuously asked my husband if he was handicapped. I wish there was a option of zero stars! If the employee would have looked…he would have seen my husbands disabled tags. This guy needs to be fired for his ignorance.
Very unprofessional just ridiculous lie after lie I’m just over the whole process

Downbeat Music Center has an excellent selection and very friendly owner. Andy has an extensive knowledge of all things music and will bend over backwards to satisfy his customers. Highly recommended!
Seth Kolodny
I went to Downbeat with an acoustic guitar that didn’t play well anymore. The man fixed my guitar for a great price, and it plays better than ever. Over all their repairs are at a great price. Their guitars are very well priced. They also do guitar lessons. Highly recommended!!
Great place to shop and save on a variety of things
I love this place
You will love this place
Very friendly staff! Always find some goodies there. When I wasn’t even looking for it!
A little missy
Alot of stuff to look through and sort of organized but bring a box cutter if ya want to know what is in most boxes. Several employees all standing around while aisles are in a disarray. Being self employed in online retails I personally saw so much potential to make 50% or more sales if they’d just organize and label more boxes or atleast open them. Will go again when I have alot more time and patience.
Not organized at all.
Don’t know why they call it a grocery store, it only had about 2 rows of food. In which I would not buy. Don’t waste your time.
The speed of delivery is In creditable. The prices is very fair
Ok for quick shopping
Its ok
Guy not to nice. However he knows he owns the only three stores in the area. Therefore they will still come.
Very little selection, tight tight quarters, it was sketchy/ dirty outside the store, and the workers uncomfortably follow you around the store. I wanted to look them in the eye and say “honey, I don’t need to steal!”
I have frequented the store countless times and never experienced horrible customer service from an employee. The employee who was finalizing my transaction had no idea clue of how to execute customer service. I greeted the employee and was totally disregarded. I spoke again and relayed to the employee that I spoke earlier and yet in still no response. Implementing customer service is essential when servicing customers. I am very disappointed.
It’s not the best

LOVE THIS PLACE
Beautifully laid out, but the most interesting pieces have no price tags.

Awesome people and unbelievable craftsmanship. If you need anything related to string instruments, this is the place!
Great place to find a starter guitar or mandolin or a classic. Helpful staff.. a local treasure!
Very helpful and courteous
Cool spot with a great antique righty Gibson acoustic transformed into a lefty that I wish I could afford!
Nice simple shop with pretty knowledgeable staff who were willing to discuss with the customer intricate details inorder to get the job done also a few beautiful vintage amps
A great experience and affordable too.
Had a Gibson SG refinished here and it was terrible. Very patchy and uneven coverage. Worst of all was the headstock. I am a little perplexed though, they have many great reviews and other great pictures. The folks there were nice, decent selection of guitars for sale, no other complaints. I’m not sure why my guitar came out so bad.
Terrible service and terrible work.
Would never recommend to anyone.
Stay away!

Brought my two electric guitars in, one for a new nut and full set up, and the other for light maintenance, and still the quality of the work done is unmatched. These guys are craftsmen and passionate about their work. I’m glad I stopped in and gave them a chance!
Savannah Guitars is a great little shop with friendly and knowledgable owners and repairmen. They work on both electrics and acoustics. Support this place!
Excellent set up and quick turnaround on a Taylor AD17. Great place, great people.
staff was very helpful and got us a great deal! very patient, knowledgeable, and cool peeps
Had a wonderful experience today! Knowledgeable staff, helpful and passionate about music. This is a much needed and fantastic addition to our community.
I visited Music and Arts for the first time today. I just couldn’t believe the professionalism and the extent of the knowledge Corinne and Adina had on the instruments I enquired about. I highly recommend the Chatham Plaza store in Savannah.
Friendly, knowledgeable staff and respectable pricing. I’m not a musician, but my wife left impressed.
Very kind staff and plenty of items for sale
I’m truly upset with this store. I received 2 notices in the mail due to my credit card being declined. The reason why my card was declined was because of frauds activities. I went to pay on my daughter’s instrument and they told me that they do not accept payments in the store nor updated the information in their records. This is ludicrous. They need to change their policy. I called twice this week to reach customer service and they has me on hold for a whole hour. Something has to give.
The teen girl working was poorly dressed and rude. Having shopped at other locations before, I expected kind, well dressed employees with expert knowledge. That is not that case at this store– at least not with that employee!! This location lost the only good employee they had (the manager Brandon).

Record stores bring me back to my teenage years. Love that it’s locally owned, always helpful people at the counter, and good chance in finding something unique.
Great place. Great people. Great music available ✔✔
The gentleman working was very knowledgeable about the record players they sold.
The store was clean. They’re is a vape shop attached to the record store. Great prices in there.
Good selection, moderate prices.
My husband is an audio file and got 3 albums.
Pretty cool place
Went on record store day. One of the workers brought his dog into the store unleashed and let it roam around. This is unsafe and unacceptable.
A customer asked about the Taylor Swift single that was a record day exclusive. One of the workers said it was in a back room when it was at the front counter.
The owner is untrustworthy, makes false promises and does not follow through on things. I suggest taking your business elsewhere instead of terrible run, shady business.
Edit: the comment made by The staff member is straight up lies. The person who brought the dog in was not a customer as they went into a he back and then came back and went behind the counter. The dog was NOT on a leash.
Further more to elaborate on the shadiness, the store claimed to be giving a copy of a limited edition single to the highest bidder who commented. My partner was the highest bidder and was never contacted. What a scam.
If my vinyl collection is worth what these guys think their vinyl is worth…then I am sitting on a $150k worth of records. Gi e me a break.
record store is cool but i went in their for vape juice, the vape juice is extremely expensive. $25 before taxes for a 60ml bottle. I understand they got rent to pay but good God lol
19. Portman’s Music Superstore
Address: 7650 Abercorn St, Savannah, GA 31406 , Garden City , Georgia , United States
If you want an honest review on a MUSIC store… how about one from an actual full-time, performing MUSICIAN?
As a professional musician with more than a decade of performance experience, I need a quality music store to help me keep up with the needs that I have performing over 300 shows a year.
Portman’s Music in Savannah, GA is that store that makes it possible. I am a hands-on type of buyer who does not prefer to purchase online. I want to be able to hold and test anything before I purchase it.
Portman’s has been my go-to location for MANY years and they have a highly qualified staff and team in every department to assist me with ANY questions I may have. I have plenty of experience with dealers and honestly cannot find any major complaints with this business. I would not continue to spend money with anyone who does not care about me as a buyer and that is why Portman’s continues to be my spot.
I have purchased everything from guitars and amps to speakers, mixers and lighting equipment from them over the years and have found their prices to be very reasonable and competitive. They have matched or beaten online prices for me time and time again.
The guys I normally deal with for my products are: Phil, Randy, Kenny, Chris, Eric, Jeff, and Asa, but if one of them isn’t available to help, I’m sure great customer service should be available from ANY of the guys in sales.
I DO NOT and have NEVER worked here. I’m simply an extremely satisfied customer who wants to give credit where it’s due.
I truly do not understand how any genuine customer could have a totally bad experience here…. unless that person isn’t really a customer at all and simply a disgruntled fool who doesn’t understand the meaning of professionalism or someone who makes up a phony screen name just to write a false review online. Ignorance is bliss from what I hear….
Portman’s Music…. HIGHLY recommended. A+++
Portman’s is an awesome music store. I always tend to lean toward local business but their prices stand up to any of the large companies. Frank Andrews with pro audio went above and beyond for my church’s business and stands behind it with customer service that you simply do not get anymore. Build quality of our new sound system is better what we expected and for a better price than buying online. I would recommend Portman’s to anyone.
Place with competitive price matching to keep up with competition. Great staff such as Bobby Gibson. They will help you with anything you need and are not pushy on making a sale on a product you may or may not need. If you already have equipment you may not fully understand they are willing to talk with you about the product and how to make it fit your needs without purchasing more equipment.
(Savannah Portmens is trash) Me and my sister went up there to string my electric guitar. The people literally told us it would be 3-4 days max. A week pass no call two weeks then passed, so we call up there and the people are like it’s not under no ones name but we literally put it under my name and my sisters name as a backup. So then they literally tried to keep my guitar. And previous to all that we first asked how much everything would cost and the man checking us out said “it’s a bit expensive can u afford it’s”? It’s cost like 56$ I don’t know if it was cause a race thing cause we was black but it was kinda offensive.
Ok so Ik at first I put two stars. Well I went back recently and it’s all new people there. The person that changed my guitar strings not only put new strings on it. But he also replaced the dial nobs with premium ones. And also polished it. I guess they seen my previous review and decided to better there business with better employees. They earned there third star from me.
It’s the vibe of any typical music store, however they were very well-stocked very helpful to my needs – if not overbearing at some times. They had a wide range of products (but not really). If you like music, this is a store.
Cashier is great! Theon too busy at his computer to help you. Unless you are buying something
Went in for a few items, was ignored by 3 “salesmen” who were chatting amongst themselves. Cashier rang up my items and took my money without speaking. Not my first bad experience,
I’ve had here. Previously I wanted to test and compare a couple guitar pedals and the salesmen told me I didnt need what I wanted… Next time I’ll just find another local store or just order online.
Do not – I repeat – do NOT rent or buy your child’s band instrument from this store. It took over 20 minutes before anyone even noticed we were in the store. We saw sales people, but they were too busy standing, talking to one another, and sitting alone in front of computers to bother with us. We were heading for the door when someone finally asked if we needed anything. He got the band salesman from the back and that person talked to us as if we were idiots. We had very specific ideas about what was wanted – having been advised by the band director, but the salesman tried to steer us away from the name brand and toward their own store brand. (which the band director told us to NOT buy, as the quality was very poor.) We had to insist to be shown the name brand.
We didn’t find exactly what we were looking for at the price we wanted so before we had them order a saxophone for us we told them we would go to the other music store in town just to compare. The salesman told us that the other store had gone out of business. I had just been on their website, so I called them right there in the store.
They were in business so we went over just to see what kind of deal we could get. My husband mentioned that Portmans had said this store had gone under and they just rolled their eyes and laughed a little. Apparently, Portmans’ people know their competition is still doing business and tell everyone otherwise.
We call that “dirty pool” and we don’t like it. The other store rented us a great sax at a monthly rental that’s just over HALF what Portmans wanted, and our son gets to keep it when the year is up. That’s not the case at Portmans.
The other store is Georgia Music and it’s on Abercorn toward downtown. They didn’t bad mouth Portmans, they were professional.
No one will ever see us at Portmans again.
Even though I am not sick, I could not purchase anything without a mask on. Been a customer for over 6 years. This local business just lost my support.
