Very cool local music store. Guy working was incredibly knowledgeable and perfectly happy to kibbutz while I fiddled around with different guitars and basses. Lots of different stuff, some of it very unusual.
The place has really improved under new ownership since June 2017.
Good inventory of drums and cymbals both new and used.
The staff is amazing and very knowledgable about there instruments, they repair your equipment and have new and used stuff for sale.
They don’t sell reeds…
Knowledgable, sincere staff who are working diligently to provide an alternative to the big box stores. They have a ways to go, but headed in the next direction.
The store is small, and the selection of instruments is not exactly large. Chances are, you’ll only find between 3 and 5 bass guitars for sale. There is usually an adequate amount of electric guitars to browse through though. Also, a fairly good selection of acoustic guitars. And, you’ll probably find some other instruments, like cigar box guitars, ukes and banjos.
If you are looking for used instruments and good deals, I think Gigs is worth visiting.
Andy, the store’s proprietor, is friendly, quite helpful, and easy to talk to. Several musicians I’ve talked with say he is a very good guitar tech.
There are one or more guitar teachers working there. I heard one was quite good, but I can’t remember his name, sorry. The teacher or teachers work with both adults and kids.
The worst thing about the store is sometimes people smoke in there. I don’t like being in an enclosed environment in which people are smoking. I tend not to stay long when I smell cigarette smoke. That’s just nasty, and discourages business.
If this store sold more bass guitars, and if no one ever smoked inside, I’ve be giving Gigs a 5 star rating instead of 4.
Never answers calls
Talented man with music skills. Awful business techniques.
Ordered a Christmas gift for my husband from this place last year, and I’m still waiting. I called them 3 times about it and was told it was on order and they would call me. Never received a call. Very unprofessional. I believe in shopping local, but not at this Boise business.
It was an absolute honor meeting Tom. I greatly appreciate his work on my flute and him pushing me in the right direction. Hats off to Tom.
I cannot thank him enough for his great service!
This is the guy I take my sax into every time and he’s probably the best in Boise with getting your saxophone fixed. And super affordable great service!
So good to see you

Great place! Very warm and welcoming. Awesome, quality equipment. Pat is TOP NOTCH quality…and true professional in this industry. And SUPER easy to work with! Can’t wait to work with him again!
Had a phenomenal session with our brother Steve Fulton. Knoxy even dropped by. Legendary.
Very good business. Was wanting a high end acoustic guitar and Nick convinced me on this Taylor 414ce LTD Sinker Redwood. Descriptions were very accurate, pictures were great. Guitar came in on time. Everything was perfect.
5 stars – I got a wonderful Larrivee guitar from Nick at Tune Up. He answered my questions very promptly and shipped the instrument the same day. The Larrivee guitars are packed with so many nice features that you don’t see every day on some more well-known brands.
Fantastic experience buying a guitar. It was in great shape – just as described!

Staff was helpful friendly and the prices were great. Will return
Excellent customer service!
People very friendly and patient with novice would-be musician.
The staff in general are knowledgeable and friendly. I took a guitar in to get repaired and serviced. Their “guitar guy” would rather do things his way and not what the customer wants. We asked to not have the strings cut after replacing them, and he would not comply with our wishes. He stated that he cuts all the strings so fast it would “make our head spin”, then related some story about the USAF bicycling team, and when he serviced their bikes he didn’t pay any particular attention to their special requests. How that related to servicing a guitar, I’m not sure. I took it to mean that he would do the service, but his way with no regard to what any special request were. He did however replace a broken tuning know and didn’t charge us. We took the guitar in for a broken tuning knob, but somehow there were 2 broken knobs. They are OK, just don’t have any special requests.
Amazing customer service. Understanding and helpful! Great experience on buying my first guitar.
Poor customer service. Another store that makes you feel like your kids shouldn’t be there to learn and appreciate music.
Kind of rude to beginning musicians. If you want to go somewhere employees make you feel stupid then this is your place.
Had a similar experience as Amanda did, poor customer service and made to feel like an idiot for asking questions. I did not go in to the store, I spoke to an employee named Ben over the phone. He was in no mood to answer questions and rather than listen to my questions, he felt the need to talk over me, sigh dramatically, and act agitated. This small interaction and poor customer service has led me to spend my money elsewhere, with someone who appreciates their customers.

Awesome products!!! Replaced the single coils in my G&L Legacy with Vintage Customs neck and middle with a Hybrid Plus bridge. Love the tone. Going for some humbuckers next!
Super helpful and knowledgeable.
I’ve had Brian and Marco work on my guitars (mostly rewirings/ personal mods) about 4 or 5 times now, and their work is always awesome. They’re super quick, sometimes work overtime to make sure the guitar is exactly the way I want it, and my guitar leaves always better than when it came (they clean up internals and sometimes replace wires when they work on my guitars).
A few days ago I decided it was time to get new pickups. Brian helped me choose exactly the set that I wanted, a mix of three different single-coils for my strat-clone. They made the pickups and installed them in my guitar in less than 24 hours, again making sure things were exactly the way I wanted them before I paid. Super affordable considering the quality of the work and pickups, too.
Wow! It’s only been a few days, but I’ve already rethought my pedalboard and got rid of an “always on” pedal I’d had for a while because of these pickups. I love my clean tones so much that I don’t need a pedal to get a sweet base tone, and I’ve overall gotten rid of a lot of gain in my sound because everything sounds so beefy and articulate I don’t really need OD to get the tones I love.
I’ll continue to recommend them!
Had a new guitar setup by Mike. Good service and the guitar feels great. Would recommend.

Great shop with a great variety and great prices! I stopped in while traveling to Boise for business. The shop owner is awesome and I was able to track down many classic country albums on vinyl that I haven’t been able to find anywhere. My new favorite record store.
Love this store nice little gem for music lovers
Friendly service, nice for a small record store!!
Great selection! Knowledgeable staff!
I probably need to give it 5 stars, but only had a minute to look around. Looks very promising. Glad to see Boise to get another music option.
Very limited selection
15. Telford & Sons Violins
Address: 4910 Gage St W, Boise, ID 83706 , Garden City , Idaho , United States
Great selection of cellos! I stopped in to have my cello bow re-haired, the gentleman behind the counter was excellent! He let me know my bow still had plenty of life left and instead I spent time playing their lovely selection of cellos! If you think they only do violin, you’re missing out!
Excellent customer service. So friendly and and try fix the violin while I waited.
Very helpful when my son needed to upgrade his bow. He was able to test out several types. They also helped fit him with a better chin rest and shoulder rest.
Very reasonable prices for services; they absoluetly know what they are doing. If you can get past the somewhat aloof owner, then I recommend you do.
Telford & Son’s in the front, Sanford & Son’s in the back.
Reasonable rental pricing
took my advanced violinist daughters violin to be repaired when we got it home we realized they had not turned it before it left their facility. I called in to make them aware and was rudely told that the car ride home probably made it out of tune. never heard of that before.
on friday my daughter took it to school for orchestra and as she was opening the case the “d” string broke. when I called them to find out what I should do Ryan was rude and it was one excuse after another. I only wanted him to apologize and tell me to bring it back in.

Charlie was the first shows I saw when we moved to Idaho and probably one of my deciding factors!
You can tell he LOVES his audience, because he is constantly interacting with them, joking, talking to the kiddos and even came and sat with us for a while and chatted!
His shows are always a GOOD TIME and he is seriously one of the most down to earth musicians I’ve met.
Amazing performer loves what he does. plays good music.always makes his shows fun. I look forward to seeing his shows… ️
Awesome musician & entertainer. Most of all he’s an awesome person! We have been following Charlie and his music for 3 years now and he never disappoints!

Excellent pricing and customer service! The employees are extremely knowledgeable and willing to help!
Great place super friendly and super helpful!!! I’d recommend them to anyone!
The service was pretty good but when I had a defective product they gave me only a gift card in return
Good selection of games. Kinda trashy tho
loving my new HP PC that i purchased for a very reasonable price. thanx for the deal, i will be back for more…..
I came in here looking to buy an air compressor for work today. After browsing for about 15 minutes I went to the counter to speak with an employee. I sat there for about 20 minutes seeing every employee busy but not once did they acknowledge my presence what so ever. I decided to leave, never go back and shop else where after newer customers walked in and got service before I was acknowledged. Many times they walked past me. Not to mention the woman working there could use some manners and try looking like she would like to be alive let alone working there. This isn’t the first time I’ve getting there with this experience but it will be the last.
Very poor customer service. Employees seemed to be put out or inconvenienced by me.
If you are selling, take it to someone else. So rude.
