All of the staff, from folks at the register to the instructors to the director of music education, are professional and knowledgeable, with a warm welcome to boot!
Awesome staff and great deals! No surprise they have 5 stars!!!
I love this place, i go in just to look at the product and I always end up buying something.
Came here with my son they were very rude to my son and not very knowledgeable… wouldn’t come back here again and don’t recommend it.
Poor customer service.
Scheduled a guitar lesson here, spent $45, arrived on time, the teacher I was assigned to never showed up. At least they were nice enough to give me my money back the next day.
3. Turnpike Music Garage
Address: 1485 Black Rock Tpke, Fairfield, CT 06825 , Georgetown , Connecticut , United States
I signed up through a coupon website for my four children. They enjoyed it very much!! I felt like my kids were in good, capable, knowledgeable hands and I would have continued lessons except for the distance, we live about 30 minutes away. Thank you Turnpike Music Garage!!
My son has been taking guitar lessons with Don. He has been introduced to many artists and looks forward to his lessons. We chose the Music Garage because we wanted our son to learn the basics and build a foundation for playing guitar.
A little hard to find, but owner was very helpful in my search for a solid-woods Classical guitar. Looked at a very nice A/Yari. Has some nice guitars, but he is limited by space constraints. If the f-ups in Washington and the greedy sob’s on Wall St would all drop dead, this store would have a good chance of growing.
Had an excellent selection of strings. Plan on visiting again soon.
I got My sons cello at this store and the bridge was broken and the stand
4. Westbury Music
Address: 686 Main St, Watertown, CT 06795 , Georgetown , Connecticut , United States
Very knowledgeable and helpful, willing to tell you how it is rather than take your money
Mike, owner, is knowledgeable, professional and friendly. Instruments, music sheets and lessons at affordable prices. Repairs also done in house. Drop in to day hi and take a look around.
Staff is very friendly and knowledgable.
Ordered instrument for my son, was told to pick up the next day, went the following day to pick it up and it wasn’t there. Also bought a box of reefs for the instrument and was given the wrong kind. The gentleman that waited on us was polite, although he didn’t recognize us even though we had just been in the day before!
excellent store, good Fender Selection, nice acoustics, lessons, and school instruments.
5. GuitarFixer Bob LLC
Address: 167 Main St, Seymour, CT 06483 , Georgetown , Connecticut , United States
My first guitar needed a complete fret replacement. A 1966 Guild . So who do you take it to? It only takes one word Experience. After talking to Bob on the phone, I knew he would and did a great job. Don’t be fooled by a small shop. This Luthier is an expert. I am quite pleased with his work.
My most recent trip was for a set up and restring. This is the only place I feel comfortable using for work on a stringed instrument. Bob, the owner, knows what he is doing and is very meticulous. I highly recommend him if you need any work done on a guitar.
Just had Bob fix my 1962 American Vintage PBass neck, badly bowed. Bob fixed it like brand new. I highly recommend him to all musicians who need guitar work done. 5 stars Tom from Naugatuck. Thanks Bob!!!!
The store is never open when the website says it is
6. George’s Music Center
Address: 905 New Harwinton Rd, Torrington, CT 06790 , Georgetown , Connecticut , United States
Very knowledgeable and friendly staff. Owner is very helpful whenever I’m there
Great place, really knowledgeable, very helpful and kind.
Excellent service, invaluable local resource!
Meh
If you’re not looking to go too far to get musical instruments. Look no further. Expensive though. But if you don’t care about prices, go for it. Not much of a selection though.
Nice shop
This place is just awful. The owner is so rude to us that i will never go back. We rented an instrument from him because our normal music store didnt have the instrument and when the instrument broke he said it was our fault and that it wasnt covered and then bad mouthed our local music store.
After going to this place; I must say I will never go back there again. The owner is so rude and disrespectful. Its not even funny. The owner needs get off his anthropocentric state of mind.
7. Music & Arts
Address: 1863 Post Rd, Fairfield, CT 06824 , Georgetown , Connecticut , United States
I took lessons here and Rob is a great teacher/mentor not only for guitar but for plenty of other aspects of my life. His teachings have helped me improve exponentially and he always makes each lesson as fun and engaging as possible!
Kris was fantastic!! He was super kind and non-judgmental. This store was wonderful and very clean. Had a really good selection of items and good prices.
They were very kind on the phone and in person. Let me play test a mouthpiece
The prices are ok. The parking can be tough. The person working the desk was dismissive of my questions. Not a lot of inventory on display. They seem more about instruction.
Thank you for your service n attention. Thank guys for helping me to pick the perfect gift for my wife.
Sales staff were not super knowledgable. We rented our son’s violin for school through them and billing was always an issue even though it was on monthly automatic payment. Glad the saga is over.
WARNING! WARNING TO PARENTS!! DO NOT USE THIS SHOP FOR RENTALS! Should be ZERO stars.
We rented from here for 5 years, the first 4 went off without a hitch. This year has been an absolute nightmare. We rented two instruments, same address, same name, same payment. ONE account had no issues, the other the local store put in the wrong address (where we have never lived). Over the last 4 months I have called their headquarters, left messages, emails, etc. trying to get a paper bill MAILED so that I could pay whatever was owed. They were incapable of sending this, and every time I called in could not even find the right account or would tell me everything was fine and they did not know why I was being contacted. When asked why they could not have looked at our other rental account for the correct information they were stunned into silence. Absolute incompetency from the sales staff all the way up to the billing department supervisor who assigned our missing “account” to a collections agency and then gave us the WRONG agency. Save yourself the trouble and stay far, far away from here.
Don’t rent any instrument from this place. People are very rude. Calling customer service takes forever to get someone on the phone. Unfriendly customer service, supervisors don’t want to talk to customers. Find another place to rent instruments for your children.
Very bad and rude customer service, hang up my phone.
8. The Music Shop
Address: 22 Mc Dermott Ave, Torrington, CT 06790 , Georgetown , Connecticut , United States
Keith was very open and helpful during his purchase of my son’s used drum set. He explained everything clearly and followed through on his statements. Courteous and respectful throughout, he helped make the transaction pleasant. I would definitely return to his shop.

9. Giuliano’s Music
Address: 406 Westport Ave, Norwalk, CT 06850 , Georgetown , Connecticut , United States
Bobby is a wonderful person. He acts a guide not business man.
He give you best advise taking your interest in mind not his.
Had maintenance work done on my guitar here and Bobby did a fantastic job. Can’t recommend the place more for any guitar work.
Amazing store with an amazing selection and extremely helpful staff. very satisfied.
Everyone was insanely helpful from who I spoke to on the phone for customer support, to the guy that helped me out when I came to pick up the amp in store. Giuliano’s Music takes care of its customers. Will definitely be returning for anything else I need in the future.
Good service, very nice staff and management!
I went needing a pack of guitar strings to find out that they were closed. Their hours online say 12-4 on Saturday. Their door said the same. Lights off no one answered the phone. The time I went you ask? 3:25. EDIT:I have since gone back and they have been very nice and kind. Which has let me to update my rating.
10. The Music Shop
Address: 405 Queen St, Southington, CT 06489 , Georgetown , Connecticut , United States
They don’t normally carry the highest end instruments, but they’re price competitive on all they carry, very helpful, and best of all honest and trustworthy. My son had guitar lessons for years and loved it. Repair work, mods and set ups are top notch.
Been going to this store for over 20 years. Great service, friendly staff and they do the best repairs around. Scott is very knowledgeable and always takes the extra time to help you out. Prices are great as well. There’s a reason they are still around in a time of superstores and online shopping.
Absolutely amazing, kind, and genuine people. Was going to drop off my guitar for a repair. Did not need to drop it off, the gentleman at the counter took my guitar apart and fixed it on the spot, under charged me and would not take more money. Truly an exceptional experience. Highly recommend
The cellos were in not in good shape and we had to pay a luthiere to redo repairs that were poorly done when we received the instrument.
Great place but website could be better such as pics of some used equipment. I’m a drummer and would like to see what they have for new and used cymbals, stands, drum kits etc. And prices. I have done business with them and always had a great experience the reason for three stars is the website doesn’t do the music shop justice. All and all great store great people.
11. Mad River Music
Address: 502 Main St, Winsted, CT 06098 , Georgetown , Connecticut , United States
Frank and Sam are both =EXPERTS= at music and musical instruments. Frank fixed up my guitar when it was buzzing like a drunken bee all over the place. He fixed the action in the neck and made it sound =A GAZILLION= times better =PLUS= he fixed the electronics. To top it off they have ultra cool records, musical instruments and anything anyone could ever want in a music store. They give you a fair price, and they’re the greatest at giving everyone (from young to old) the gift of music.
Went there to pick up a guitar amp I saw on the Facebook marketplace they had for sale. I met with Frank and he helped me while Sam was doing lessons. They brought out the amp I was looking to buy and Frank played a guitar and tested out all the settings. Everything worked and the amp sounded great. I purchased the amp and a new set of strings for my guitar. I talked with Frank more and he was very friendly and asked me about myself and what music I play and listen to. He gave me one of their business cards if I wanted to schedule a lesson since I mentioned I was getting back into playing guitar after not playing for a while. I would definitely recommend Mad River Music! My first experience there I felt very welcomed and comfortable. I will definitely be supporting this father and son music store. I don’t need to drive so far to go to guitar center for what I need and pay an insane marked up price for things anymore. Please support Mad River Music and support local small family owned businesses!
Loving my new guitar! Frank is a cool dude
Awesome guys , Frank and Sam
Horrible, I walked in to buy a guitar and he was beyond rude
Absolutely horrible customer service
This place broke my guitar and tried to say it was already broken when I brought it in. poor customer service!!Ipaid them to break my guitar basically.i wouldn’t recommend anyone to go there.i couldnt even get an apology. I would recommend going anywhere but there.dont have them fix your instruments. They sell knockoff used guitars, definitely not like other places I’ve been to.its like going to a used junk tag sale.very unprofessional.go to George’s music,or the music shop in torrington where you can expect quality workmanship and honesty.

13. Music Center of North Haven Llc
Address: 473 Washington Ave, North Haven, CT 06473 , Georgetown , Connecticut , United States
Mark is a very charismatic person who will go out of his way to help you in any music situation, from renting or buying an instrument, to lessons and more…
Mark and team do a great job, even for an amateur. They make you feel comfortable and their people are good. Glad I walked in and asked for lessons. Just an all around nice experience.
My kids enjoy their piano teachers
Great place to get music!!
Great place. Definitely stop in.
First experience here, but guy greeted me immediately and helped me pick out a capo. Nice feature to have a cafe inside.
This is a review for the musical forest cafe. I wish I could have enjoyed the food at this place, but this business is a mess. I came here a month ago on a Tuesday and they were closed out of the blue, so they granted me a 10% discount coupon for my trouble. I decided to give this place a try once again today so I called in advanced, but no one picked up the phone. I then googled their hours and noticed it said they opened at noon (I tried calling at 11:00 a.m.) but that they were opened today. To be completely sure about that, I checked their facebook page that stated, in fact, that they were open. When I arrived to the restaurant the owner greated me and stated that they have been closing on Fridays for the past 9 months and that I should have checked their facebook page prior to coming in here (REALLY?!). After explaining to him that I DID checked facebook he apologized and said he will change the facebook hours for his restaurant and offered to give me another discount coupon. I didn’t even bothered to take the coupon and left very disappointed by the lack of reliability and professionalism of this place and won’t ever be coming back. Places like this just reinforced my belief that going out of business is a conscious effort and wouldn’t be surprised if this happened to this cafe in the near future.
UPDATE: To clarify, the small bag of “trash” was a small bag of shirts and pants that were out grown and not trash which the owner stated several times and now denies. He also forgets that I was sitting there in my car for several minutes trying to figure out what the poorly sprayed wording actually stated or if it was just covering up something and i even took out the clothes in the bag and showed it to him but he didn’t care and continued to argue with me. Again, I had donated to this location before it was deemed abandoned and was accused repeatedly to get my trash out of there. I did go down the street and donated the clothes to Goodwill. The issue I have is how the owner handled the situation and the accusations that were thrown at me even when confronted with the proof that they were wrong and I was clearly trying to donate a small amount of clothes and left when asked. Move this very prominent former donation bin to the back our your lot or put a proper sign up, chain close the handle or just politely tell someone its closed.
This music center used to have a clothing donation bin out front which I have donated to many times before. It has since been painted over with illegible spray paint saying bin closed. I was standing by the bin trying to figure out what the writing said and employee came out and screamed at me to take my trash somewhere else and was extremely rude shouting at me like I was doing something illegal. He told me to bring my trash to Goodwill. Would never bring my kids here for their music needs with staff like this.
I came in for my introductory ukulele lesson. The place was a mess. The chair I was told to sit on had metal pieces sticking out the side. The AC was not on. The instructor informed me he had been playing uke for about 3 years. I was charged $50 and it was the biggest waste of money. I was highly disappointed.
14. JC Music
Address: 529 W Main St, Meriden, CT 06451 , Georgetown , Connecticut , United States
I have been going to JC Music for many years and will continue to go there for my musical needs.I find that I am able to find and buy whatever I need at reasonable prices and quality. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable and my experiences there are always enjoyable. Thanks guys ,You rock!
Great establishment with a helpful staff and reasonable prices. I was here last week, and JC was very helpful walking me through all the options for a new set of coated strings for my acoustic guitar — they have a large selection of strings, so the guidance was useful. I hear the lessons here are high quality, and I plan to return here to get my violin ‘tuned’ up.
My son and daughter both took lessons here. They have outstanding teachers. They also sell and rent instruments
Would like to obtain some nice brushes and some type of top hat set used and very sturdy since I break percussion instruments all the time when I perform?
My son, Roberto Luis and Rosa live in Meriden. Are you far from the mall? I have spent a lot of time jamming in Puerto Rico to salsa, merengue, etc but my favorite is funk like Buddy Miles.
My grandson really enjoyed the music lessons and they are very professional and knowledgeable. Highly recommend them.
Never have any of the literature or instrument parts I’m looking for. Took 3 months to repair a trombone. I tried to return an item and they wouldn’t give me back the cash to go to another place. The owner has blatantly disrespected my mother on several occasions and doesn’t have much knowledge of much of anything outside of rock music. As far as i’m concerned, this is the worst music store i’ve ever set foot in and would not recommend to anybody.
Completely disappointed. I placed an order in store on a instrument that was never placed with JC music. The customer service was poorly displayed and the options they gave us was not acceptable. I asked to speak to the owner several times and would not get on the phone and made his new employee talk to me. I ended up going somewhere else that was amazing
This was a horrible expierence. They need to get their stuff together, they had already-sold instruments on shelf. They had an amazing guitar sale and when I went to buy, it was already sold! They got my hopes high and let it down and I will not give them my money any longer.
