COLE has a monopoly on band instruments for the city of Tuscaloosa; however, their prices have not increased, and the staff and service are top-notch. The owner loves this town and shows it. Kudos
Great people here. Repairs at an affordable price too.
Super nice folks and knowledgeable about different instruments.
Its good service very pricey though
Nice and very helpful

Great place to do business…cant beat Eric on customer service
I really hate to low star it because first time I went there had really good experience then went back for a truss rod adjustment with a different new guy and he was nice but he did not make improvements on my guitar he was not checking free play and had my guitar buzzing in 1st and 2nd fret had to come home and adjust myself and the adjustment cost 45$ that kinda high for 15 mins work but im still may go back and see what the 3rd experience is like then make a long term decision
Not a good experience at all, they have rescheduled my grandson twice, mind you we did not miss any sessions, they rescheduled us and then just took us off the schedule period. Carried my Grandson anyway thinking he was on schedule and Sage came in 10 minutes late and finished 5 minutes early…making it a 15 minute session instead of a 30 minute session as paid for. Spoke really negative to my Grandson and then refused any refund for missed sessions that THEY canceled. My Grandson loves everyone but does not want to go back, I’m saddened that because someone is a child that they are treated with less respect.

Great place to get musical instruments. Great service.
Well stocked, Very friendly; service is good, helpful. Willing to take time and work with you. Prices are good.
You won’t be disappointed. They make you feel like family
Great selection and knowledgeable staff.
Great shop had lots of stuff new and used !! Good people great store!! A must stop kinda place !!
Many instruments in there such as acoustic and electric guitars. They come at a reasonable price and the people also have guitar lessons available for around 70 a month, I think.
Good, knowledgeable people when it comes to musical instruments. Very nice people and willing to spend the time to make you feel welcome when you first come through the front door. Say hi to James Midnighter before you leave.
Over priced needed Reed’s and I can get them 10 for 28-32 dollars any where. Theirs was 10 bucks as. And I had to have them that day. Nope I’m done with them
Seems like some decent prices but very stale service.the blonde at the front desk acts like it hurts her face to smile r speak someone done told her she cute 1 to many times
8. Gadsden Music Company
Address: 607 Broad St, Gadsden, AL 35901 , Gordo , Alabama , United States
Fantastic, friendly service! 10/10 will reccomend to everyone for their musical needs.
Great people, all instruments you’d ever want.
This is a great store. Even if you don’t play or like music. I took my guitar in looking for a quick fix on a small boo boo. The long haired gentleman on the side who looks like he could play a few things and teach you the meaning of Shakespeare at the same time knew exactly what to do and promptly did so. He also offered to put on new strings, clean it up, and a couple other things he spoke of in guitar language but clearly needed done. It took him all of 15 min, whilst he listened to an old friend who dropped by to tell his life story. And he only charged me $30. It looked like a brand new guitar. I never knew until that day that I was a descendant of Jimi Hendricks. Thank you long haired man, thank you.
Nice store. Super staff.
Would like more name brand guitars for sale other than that the staff and store are great!
They have a good selection of musical instruments
My son’s band director recommended this place. Staff was nice, and allowed my son to try out a couple of instruments. However, when I mentioned we wanted to do rent to own, they said they no longer do that. We could essentially only purchase outright or finance. When I asked about discounts, I was told they don’t do discounts, but it would be cheaper to just buy the instrument outright. As of today, they still have the rent to own program advertised on their website, along with discounts and advantages of the program, which is the main reason we made the 1.5 hour drive. I also found the exact same instrument for over $200 cheaper somewhere else. People seem nice, but this was really disappointing. Please don’t advertise if you can’t offer it.
If you are looking for music instruments, and accessories, i promise you, you will pay FULL retail price. No discounts there. It dosen’t matter that accessories have a 70% mark up. The best thing to do is buy it online.
This place used to be very friendly and musicians dream to come in. Now it’s full of a bunch of butt heads. I Won’t Go Back
9. Guitars and More LLC Gardendale
Address: 1128 Main St, Gardendale, AL 35071 , Gordo , Alabama , United States
I haven’t bought a guitar here yet, but the staff has been very courteous and knowledgeable. I have visited several times and the most I’ve spent is $60. Even though I haven’t laid down a lot of cash, the salesman recognizes me and greets me with a smile when I walk in.
Love this place!
Great inventory and excellent friendly service from a fellow named Ken. Very knowledgeable
Great sales,super repair work!
Nice small business. Very helpful.
The people are nice but the stuff you buy here is garbage.
I went in yesterday and asked about a Gretch open back banjo on the back wall that didn’t have a price tag. The reply I got from the bearded gent behind the counter was ” I don’t know, probably $300 or something”, and then he walked away like I didn’t exist. The vibe I got from him was “I dont want to help you. I won’t help you”. I buy a LOT of instruments and spend thousands of dollars per year on all sorts of music equipment, but this store has shown me that they don’t want my business and they aren’t interested in having any sort of customer care. I didn’t want to go to Guitar Center anymore, I would like to buy from a local store, but Guitars and More has discouraged me from doing any business with them. My advice to other customers is to go elsewhere. They don’t want your business and they don’t deserve your business.
10. Jerry’s Music
Address: 2000 Hwy 45 N, Columbus, MS 39705 , Gordo , Alabama , United States
This place is great, they don’t have a super big selection of guitars, but all the guitars the carry are pretty good. Ive gotten strings, picks, and a guitar strap peg put on at their store. Overall a great place to find most things music related.
First time through was great, the man in there did an excellent job explaining about different things he had in the store.
Had a slight issue with my purchase, and they worked very hard to make sure it was resolved quickly. They care about their reputation and it shows.
Great music store.
Helpful and had what I needed
Adequate.
Not alot of options for band instruments. Excellent knowledge of product.
VERY dishonest business! We were sold a VSO (violin shaped object) and told it was a real, properly working violin! Even a beginner cannot play on this TOY. The strings are not evenly spaced, the bridge is too low, the fine tuners don’t work (one doesn’t even TOUCH the string), and it is made of plastic! Do NOT BUY FROM THIS BUSINESS! When we tried to return it, they would not give us our money back! OH! And they supposedly “measured” my daughter for it and IF it was a working instrument, it still would have been too big! You have been warned! Do not throw your money away on this horrible business!
Don’t say you’re open til 6pm on Saturday when you really close at 5:00pm. This is a simple fix to keep someone from driving 30 minutes to your shop only to find you misrepresent your business online.
11. Ron Partain’s World of Music
Address: 1914 Cogswell Ave, Pell City, AL 35125 , Gordo , Alabama , United States
Very nice folks .reminded me of old school music store .very refreshing
I came here to repair my guitar and have a momentary kill switch installed, they did everything with above and beyond quality and they even strung and tuned it for me. I wish I could’ve tipped them, I am more than happy with it, and I’m definitely going to recommend this shop to friends and family.
Great experience every time!
It’s a shame places like this will be going out of business soon. If they would have what I needed or was interested in like certain pickups or more interesting pedals and better guitars this would be an awesome place the last time I went in there the walls were filled with Nashville guitars and they had a couple good electrics but literally every acoustic guitar hanging on the wall was a Nashville guitar and I was looking for a Taylor or Martin but I’ve never seen anything like that in that store I go there to buy picks and strings but that’s only because they don’t have a guitar store in Talladega. When they don’t have pickups I need they asked me if I want them to order it but in this day and age I can just do that myself and get it for cheaper because looking at the price of the looper pedals they’re not buying them wholesale they’re buying them straight off of a website and marking the price up.. The people are super nice I hate giving a three-star review but I’m just being honest.
Nice place. Good selection conveniently located.
It’s a standard small music store. There aren’t a lot of new high end instruments here, but they are all very nice folks.
I read reviews for this shop and thought it was an honest place to sell my gear. I walked in with an Epiphone AJ 220, with an Epiphone molded hardshell case I bought seperately, and an Epiphone “Snake Pit” 15w practice amp. ALL in like new condition. She plugged the guitar in and it was only the fourth time it had ever been plugged in. I never put the guitar in the case without wiping it down first. Look everything I listed up for yourself, and you’ll see what I lost. I messed up and let the lady know that I was in dire need of money for my family. The old guy asked where I bought it, and when I told him, he said he’d lost alot of business to “places like that”. No. I looked around the shop, and all he had was used gear that had been repaired and put up for sale. Junk. My guitar was the nicest instrument there! The reason he’s losing business is because he’s trying to sell junk and beating people in need out of what their instruments are worth. The lady acted like she was on Pawn Stars! If I hadn’t had needed the money really bad, I would have told her where she could stick her $200! That’s all they gave me for everything I brought in. Look up the items I listed, and you’ll see I did my part to support this business! The reviews I read must have been friends of theirs, because they definately misled me. Not fair at all.
Walked in today to look around and from the moment I walked in the door, the older gentleman (I guess the owner?) had his eye on me and was watching me like a hawk, made me feel unwelcome to be there. He asked if I was looking for anything in particular and when I told him very politely he didn’t have what I was looking for he arrogantly told me “I opened this store in 1973 and everything you see in the store is priced the same as you’d get it online” like ok bud I wasn’t complaining about the price you just don’t have what I was looking for. When I told him I wasn’t looking to buy today, and was just looking around he made a sarcastic comment about “well if you’re not buying, we can just put this back on the shelf” ??? I continued to walk around and look at some more product and he continued to watch me like a hawk until I got in my car and pulled out of the parking spot. All of my musician friends have recommended I don’t frequent this store, and I can honestly say, after that experience, I will not and will tell anyone that asks not to either. Lousy excuse for customer service.
12. AFFORDABLE FURNITURE, Hargett music
Address: 2301 US-31, Hartselle, AL 35640 , Gordo , Alabama , United States
The staff was so helpful and very sweet! The store was neatly kept and organized and the prices were amazing i would recommend Hargett Music Center to any musician.
Very thankful to have a local music store that has great customer service with their attention to detail for each person. They always go above and beyond.
Friendly and knowledgeable
I went in with my boyfriend to get some guitar strings etc. The lady who helped us was polite but wanted us to hurry up and leave. We’ll probably be making a trip to AB Stephens next time
Liked to look around the store seeing a lot of instruments & songbooks plus more.
Very inviting kind employee that was very well mannered. She even told me to come on back and see them.
Never know when they’re actually open
Ladies, you need to get into this decade and get products available. And seriously, your prices are insane. You obviously own and don’t rent the building.
The hours listed are not accurate. I hardly ever see this place open.
13. B&C Music
Address: 314C Billy B Dyar Blvd, Boaz, AL 35957 , Gordo , Alabama , United States
Love this place, always very helpful and has a great selection of equipment and accessories.
Attendant was nice enough and they had what we needed.
Helpful knowledgeable staff, decent selection of instruments and accessories at reasonable prices. I would recommend this place to anybody.
Has variety of instruments and types of music. Carrie is a bubbly personality there
Eeeeh
Friendly local place and with high prices but a good selection and knowledgeable.
Awful place with cheap brands and overpriced / broken used instruments.
The people are not friendly, the merchandise is overpriced, some equipment is not even new (and it is damaged) although they don’t disclose that information, and getting around in a wheelchair is next to impossible. The lady at the register didn’t know anything about the equipment. It is definitely worth the drive to go somewhere else.
I felt watched and rushed. Two women were working there that day, one was very friendly. I did not feel comfortable asking questions and also it was so hot in there.
