a lot of knowledge is in the staff. they know about the items they carry and know stuff about the things they do not have at store as well .
ask them if they dont have it , they can mostly get it or order it for you to store!
Great store with knowledgeable and helpful staff! Jan Hart has been here for many years and there’s a reason! Whether you are looking to purchase something new or need something repaired by quality and capable technicians, JB Hart music is the place.
Good selection of strings and such. Friendly staff, clean store. Used gear is almost 50% higher than what you could find on reverb.
I stopped by Hart’s a couple weeks back on my way to Denver because I heard that they had an excellent stock and variety of cymbals and most musicians (especially drummers) like to try instruments before they buy. As expected they had an excellent supply of cymbals, but the only problem was that the sales rep, very rudely, told me “Hey kid! Your not supposed to touch those! Get away from them and get out!”. Whats the point of having an entire room full of cymbals that you can’t even try and listen to before you buy? Loved what they had in stock, but the policies and staff need to be adjusted
Was sold a keyboard being told by the salesman it had a USB port to hook it up to the computer, write music with it and that it had touch sensitive keys. Wrapped it up as a gift for the daughter. When she opened it, we were telling her how she could hook it up to her computer and she was really excited. Then she started playing it, no touch sensitive keys or USB port. The very reason we bought it. So disappointing. We took it back, were told so sorry, our mistake. You can buy this one for 50.00 more that has everything you want and when you want to trade that one in, we’ll give you a great deal on it. We paid 172.00 for the keyboard at Harts music….I found it on Amazon, same keyboard for 99.00. Wish I would have checked Amazon first. Will not be going back to Harts Music totally took advantage of our ignorance in keyboards.
Bought a bass before I had a cell phone.
Was marked $1200, scratched out, marked $800, scratched out marked $600. Nice bass, thought it was a good deal. Missing hard case so got a soft case instead.
Found out later the retail price is $400.
Deceptive pricing.
Not impressed! My first experience with this shop, I brought an old acoustic in for some setup work after I switched to lighter strings. I did a neck adjustment but still had e string buzzing and a b string ring. I needed a new nut, and & bridge adjustment, fret leveling too which I explained, but Jan absolutely is clueless I guess all he heard was “string change”. I have a bunch of guitars I can do basic work on them and I’ve been changing my own strings for 30 years! but Jan promised me a pro would look at it and contact me to discuss the repairs. They shined me for a week, never tried to contact me as I promised, then all they did was change my strings (and they even put the wrong ones on!). Now all the strings buzz! So I’m right back where I started. I’m local too & gave them every chance, they failed miserably.

Friendly & knowledgeable staff! Great selection & reasonable pricing! Highly recommend taking a look if you are in the market for anything musical!
Very helpful! You can tell that everyone that works there is passionate about what they do, and they do it well. Daughter broke a string on violin and not only did they replace it, but tuned it as well with giving great tips to a new player as they were working on it.
Super friendly staff
Small selection wish they had more but very nice
Just beginners stuff and acoustic, nice staff
Sadly, the economy has taken a toll on this business. A streamlined version of its former self, therefore options on some products seem kind of limited. Still worth a visit and nice to see products in person versus online. Worth supporting local business to check them out. They had what I needed so we left happy.
Wanted to rent for a couple months before I purchased an instrument but was told that service only available to students.
Usually great service, this time took instrument in for repair, was told $85 and be ready the next day. 10 days later, after calling twice it was “found”. bill $95
Used to be a customer of 30 years, all of my life playing music – until today. Purchased an instrument case and I wasn’t 100% sure about it and the young person working that day said oh yeah, you can just bring it back for any reason for a refund as long as all of the accessories are still with it. I read my receipt and it said there is a 14 day return period and other various terms. I was within the 14 days and the other terms didn’t apply to this item. Upon returning the item a different person was there and as soon as I said I need to return it, had an attitude. They even.proceed to tell me my refund was $xxx amount, but took that back and said oh we have this 15% restocking fee. I said the receipt has the terms of return and a restocking fee isn’t on there. Why don’t the sales people point this out on large purchases. She just sighed and said nothing. This is what we get for trying to support local businesses. Save yourself the hassle and go somewhere else.

Best place to shop for records on the West Slope!!!
Great help found an ordered what I needed
Matt helped me out alot.
Price an issue.
Absolutely friendly staff, great atmosphere, reasonable prices. The only bad thing I can say is that it feels a bit crowded… luckily, when I was there, it wasn’t over crowded. I’d recommend this establishment.
The review below that the owner says is fictional may have some truth to it after my experience. The son of the owner of this store assaulted me. I have 10 witnesses right now that saw the whole thing and I never touched the guy. They are reporting any reviews I leave. However my reviews are not inappropriate or fake. Both the son and father have a real anger problem. It is unacceptable to follow someone outside and assault someone for speaking words and not even with a tone, attitude, or raised voice. Additionally, if the person has not cursed at you, called you names, put you down, or threatened you and you assault them you have serious issues. You wonder if my review is real or fake? I bet if someone makes them angry in the slightest they will find out (however I am not encouraging this). The son thinks he is real tough, but he is clearly not. He told me the cops were coming with a egotistical smile before hitting me with a sign. They wanted to call the cops but knew I did nothing wrong. When the son hit me with the sign, the father’s attitude changed a little to knowing he was wrong but saying I was exaggerating. I am surprised life has not tought these weirdos a lesson.
Very rude, like they were doing us a favor by taking our money. Rude to my special needs kid.
The owner is rude and shows disdain for customers. He cannot seem to leave well alone and decides to direct message people uninvited. I could post the conversation where he insulted me many times personally, but Ill just leave it by saying he has rubbed MANY in our local Disc Golf community wrong. Thankfully, there are other friendly Disc Golf options to buy from in the area.
EDIT: I’m making this edit because the owner wants to mischaracterize that the issue is that they ended their program and i didnt ‘let them explain it to me further’ instead of him understanding that his rude responses, direct messages, and direct insults in his responses, and lack of professionalism were the issue.
Here’s what happened: they announced on facebook their upcoming end of a disc return program. I commented (in a non-confrontational or critical tone) that I lamented that they were ending the program (just sharing my opinion in an innocuous way right?) and I spent money purchasing discs in their store every time i picked up a disc. He then direct messaged me in a patronizing tone. I did not respond. I then had a disc get returned right before the end of their program and went in, picked it up, paid the return fee to them, didnt talk to anyone or buy anything, and left. Owner then texts me (as I had blocked him on facebook after his first unprofessional direct message. And as he had my phone number from the return program), and his text says he doesnt want to ever see me in his store again. I say thats fine as i dont want to support a business run by a guy like him. He then responds insulting me and talking about the same he talks about and leans on here with their 35 years of experience. I did not respond.
I edit this mainly to refute that it was a misunderstanding and i needed further explanation, but that it is this owner’s need to attack anyone who has an opinion then to insult, and lastly to claim that his 35 years of experience is an excuse for or makes up for his lack of professionalism. 100 years of experience doesnt make up for that. Doesnt matter that it was 7 months ago either. He’s been around long enough and made enough money that he doesnt care anymore, if he ever did. So, dont buy your discs down there. There are other options.
These guys are Awesome , Great People, Great Service!!!!
I love this place. They are open-minded, kind, friendly, and helpful. The staff is amazing! Christian is the best!
This review is mostly for the repair shop.
They did a great job setting up my 2009 Les Paul Studio (I purchased online “as is”). It was in real rough shape like totally unplayable and my wanting to switch to lighter strings didn’t help it. Fixed the hump in the neck, the most noticeable problem & adjusted everything else. The guitar now plays like new again set up with 9’s & with the Burstbucker Pro’s it sound’s frikin awesome!!!
It was done in 24 hours! I picked it up just after opening day after I brought it in.
The cost wasn’t bad, less than what I had expected.
The folks in this store are very cool but
honestly I’ve only purchased strings at the store, the prices are competitive & they’ve always had why I needed.
I don’t buy new guitars! never have never will.
Like many of you I haven’t had the best experience with Guitar Center online so I was kinda anxious about going to the Grand Junction store, but it’s a local store and they do a great job.
Horrible place. I’ll stick with the local music stores.
Read all of Guitar Center reviews, then go into the store. You’ll soon see all the negative reviews are true.
Highly talented and passionate musicians/producers/engineers. Art is a beast at mixing/mastering, taught me key techniques I will now use every-time to prepare my final mix before mastering. Erica and Art are talented individuals and are capable of turning your ideas into finished songs. They also offer lessons for beginners and advanced situations. Artica Productions is a professional one stop media production studio for your next single, EP, or album project. I look forward woking with these guys again highly recommend.
Art and Erica are fantastic musicians and performers. They are very professional and their studio is so cozy and welcoming, hospitality A+. I love working with these two so much, can’t say kind enough words. Highly recommend, they are very talented people. I will definitely be back for all of my future events! Amazing experience.

I would highly recommend seeing Sherry Lee if you are in the market for a flute, piccolo, alto flute, or bass. She has lots to choose from and great expertise.
Also if you need flute repair, they know what they are doing.
Very knowledgeable and helpful.
I purchased a Muramatsu flute and a Pearl piccolo from and sold my previous piccolo through Sherry since moving here 11 years ago. She also repairs flutes and has been in this business for years. She is knowledgeable, helpful and fair. Thanks for my new flute! I love ❤️ it!
Ok
