Great local music store with cool instruments, a lot of sheet music, lessons for kids and adults and family run.
Great small town shop with plenty of instruments and accessories, sheet music and knowledge. Nice people.
Ask for Hoytus and also get music lessons!
Nice people
People’s Music use to be better, but it’s still a fine local music store for grabbing some supplies or renting a school instrument. It has the charm and “treasure hunt” qualities of a small-town music store, you can find a cheap guitar for a beginner or a full-on vintage Gibson SG, so it’s always worth a stop by.
Nasty and uncaring owners; Get music somewhere else! pointed out a safety hazard in the store, where someone could easily trip, fall and be injured. I suggested yellow tape. The owners got mad and told me to “leave my store!” Avoid these nasty owners.
Feels like they’re going out of business.
2. Loud and Clear Music
Address: 8000 Old Redwood Hwy, Cotati, CA 94931 , Graton , California , United States
We love this place! The guys that work here are helpful, knowledgeable and very friendly! It’s a great place to shop or just hang out.
Real people, great gear
This is what a music store should be like
Good place to consign music gear, they sold my Roland Guitar Synthesizer for a better price than expected.
Limited selection. Stuck with a salesman I could barely understand.
So, I’ve been in here twice since I’ve moved from East Bay to Rohnert Park last year. On both separate occasions the staff watches me like I’m going to steal every item in the store somehow. Very, very, very uncomfortable to look up and have every worker in the store staring at you from across the room, yet not one word of helpfulness or a ‘hi’ or anything. I wont be stepping foot in ‘this boy’s club again’.
They’d rather make $50 or so than lose a customer and get a negative feedback. Not sure that’s a winning business strategy in the long run, but best of luck.
3. Stanroy Music Center
Address: 850 4th St, Santa Rosa, CA 95404 , Graton , California , United States
Grand…great service and products, classes and personnel.
Impressive inventory, excellent customer service, very knowledgeable.
Super nice people and great service
Easy parking lot of guitar’s and more stuff.went there for one item.very helpful sale personal.
They’re always so helpful.
Friendly and knowledgeable staff good selection of instruments
Took my vinyage 70’s modified stratocaster to be flipped from a righty to a lefty and they didnt even flip the nut they just used some glue to raise the strings to make them fit. Seemed like they didnt care about doing a good job or doing the job right just to get it done as fast as possible and collect there money. Dissapointed because i always try to help local business over corporate monsters like bananas but even at bananas i feel like the staff is more attentive. If your a high class snob this might be your perfect fit.

4. Bananas At Large
Address: 531 College Ave, Santa Rosa, CA 95404 , Graton , California , United States
Good repair department … helpful and knowledgeable staff. Good selection of equipment. Two locations.
called and talked to Zachary on the phone.. didn’t even end up having to go in but may anyway to get some more insight because the help and advice was better than i could ask for. Thanks brother and Banana at Large!!
Great guitars!!
Friendly service
Nice, small music store. Friendly and knowledgeable staff.
Theyre called Bananas at large cuz it’s robbery and they’re basically criminals at large. Decent selction at outrageous prices.
I would like this place better if they didn’t try to upsell me super expensive guitars. I mean honestly I don’t know how this place is in business with these prices during covid. You would think they were for the people.
5. Tall Toad Music
Address: 43 Petaluma Blvd N, Petaluma, CA 94952 , Graton , California , United States
It’s my favorite vintage shop. I’ve been going here since I started playing, 20 years ago, and they’ve always been very kind, welcoming, and have the best selection of cool vintage and new instruments. I stop in whenever I can.
Tall Toad is consistently the most helpful, friendly, accessible music store in Sonoma County. Great staff is knowledgeable and amiable, available for questions and advice, and you leave knowing that playing music is for everybody at every level. Thanks Chris and Fabian!
Great experience buying jazz bass here. Looked at several stores around Santa Rosa, with no avail. Luckily, I called the Tall Toad music in Petaluma, they were very helpful and had 5 different jazz basses to choose from!
I don’t much like these guys. I worked right around the corner from them and saw them regularly. Fake would be a good way to describe them. Also the manager told me I could drop my guitar off (his idea) before they opened because I wouldn’t be able to leave work until after they’d be closed. I brought the guitar by a week later before they opened and he didn’t remember me. He gave me an attitude, just staring at me and pointing at their open time printed on the window. If you’ve got a personality best kept to a cubicle in the basement maybe you shouldn’t be involved in customer service, in any capacity.
Hugo is a expert Luthier. His guitars are top quality, his professional demeanor is a joy to work with, and what you will be presented with will be beyond your wildest expectations! We love our guitar and couldn’t be more pleased.
Hugo is a true artist! Very professional. A pleasure to work with!
in my experience, somewhat careless and unprofessional. damaged the finish on my instrument and didn’t acknowledge it or seem to notice. really surprising. poor communication, unresponsive and flaky.
UPDATE: received really nice, flowery reply from the owner here. that sounds good and all on the surface in terms of appearances, but the conundrum is that now we have a person who brought us here in the first place by being unresponsive inviting me to message them.
7. Groat Instruments
Address: 3222 Airway Dr #4, Santa Rosa, CA 95403 , Graton , California , United States
Bob Groat is one of the finest craftsmen in California! The beautiful and unique work that he produces will bring joy to the player for generations.. From a small guitar repair job to a complete custom build, Bob’s your man! He even makes amazing and artistic cases for instruments!
Groat Instruments has been building and repairing guitars for a LONG time. I have had him work on gear as disparate as a 1929 Martin acoustic all the way through my Tercer roundtop and even my new (to me) Schecter 12 string electric. He has had to hand make parts for some of my gear and they always turn out better than new!
Thanks Bob!
Breakfast excellent. Service good.
8. Gordon’s Music & Sound
Address: 810 Texas St, Fairfield, CA 94533 , Graton , California , United States
Fue un buen lugar no hablo inglés pero te pueden atender en español!! Y muy buen servicio
Wonderful store. Great people. They give music lessons!
Use to come to this music store as a kid and didn’t think too much about it. Started going to the local shows they held on Friday Nights, one of the most inspiring things I have got a chance to be apart of! They also have a great selection of stuff and never fail to make me happy!
Tienda muy bonita te dejan probar la mayoría de instrumentos. Tienen bastante variedad por lo que es la zona y buenas ofertas. Guitarras hermosas.
nice music
The only problem I have with Gordon’s is the prices I paid $23.45 for one oboe reed and to me I think that is very pricey
Well, unfortunately I have to agree with the majority of the reviewers here. This is not a very good music store to do business with.
Or, more specifically, the salesman/owner Gordon…yikes what a train wreck!
I traveled to Gordon’s music from out-of-town looking for a nice tube-amp for my guitar. I had spoken with a very nice lady on the phone, and she began helping me when I arrived at the store. However, her shift was ending, and she left for the day…
I wish I had left also…
Well, to make a long story short- I tried asking the owner Gordon some questions about purchasing an amplifier, he basically refused to listen to what I wanted to buy, and attempted to force me to purchase the items that he had in stock. When I tried again to tell him that I was not interested in the amplifiers that they were currently stocking, he began a long, grouchy story about how “back in his day” he used to build amps from kits….yawn* And, please sell me what I am asking you for!
Well after 10-15 minutes I could see that I was wasting my time with this person.
And so, after looking around locally, I found a wonderful music store in Benicia called ABC Music…Very Nice people who actually listen to my needs as a customer!
I then purchased a great Vox amp from them, and have been a faithful customer ever since. And my guitar lives happily ever after…:-)
Bought a used supposedly “gone through” Marshall amp and brand new guitar and boss effects system. Brought both back numerous times because the sound from one of the two was cutting out. All returns to the store provided that they couldn’t find the problem. When I returned home each time the cutting out of sound was apparent and obvious. The store would not refund my cash payment to buy a new amplifier but insisted I could trade for something else only. I took the amp to another guitar shop in Sacramento and before I finished looking around the tech had found a cold solder joint with cracks in it which should have been obvious to someone that has been in the business for years. They either knew what was wrong and were too cheap to fix it, or they due to inexperience really had no idea. I had to pay to have it repaired when I shouldn’t have had to. I will never go back again. I would highly not recommend anyone buying from them as they don’t stand behind their products. I also purchased almost $2000.00 worth of equipment from them to get screwed like I did. Thumbs down!
We returned our rental violin a week before it was due and still were charged for the next month. When I contacted Gordon’s they stated they would look into it. After many calls back and forth of them verifying that yes we had turned it in on time they said they would look into a refund. A month later still no refund. When I called again I was told by Mr. Gordon that maybe the problem was with my bank, that perhaps they were deciding not to post the credit.
9. The Next Record Store
Address: 1899 Mendocino Ave, Santa Rosa, CA 95401 , Graton , California , United States
I purchased a new, unopened record from them. When I got home and opened it, I noticed the record was scratched. When I returned to the store with the damaged record and my receipt, they informed me that all sales were final and recommended that I contact the manufacturer. I could not believe my ears. Finally, they allowed me to swap it for another new record for the same price. When I asked the clerk if I could open it and inspect it before leaving this time, he rolled his eyes at me. This was the last time I will ever go there. And everyone wonders why record stores are going out of business…
10. Music Go Round
Address: 9163 E Stockton Blvd #310, Elk Grove, CA 95624 , Graton , California , United States
Very pleased with my order from Music Go Round! I found a sweet deal on their website for a PRS Archon tube amp. They were extremely responsive to any questions I had by email and it gave me a lot of confidence about purchasing from them. Just received the amp today and I was beyond impressed with their packaging job for shipping across the country to over here in Washington, D.C. They put a lot of effort in making sure this thing would get here without a scratch. Absolutely satisfied with my purchase and I’m already checking the website for my next piece of gear! You guys rock, thanks so much!
Love this place. Great customer service. My 16 year old is a drummer and loves checking out the new inventory. There was even one time they didn’t have what he needed (marching sticks) and they ordered it, totally going above and beyond. They don’t mind him trying things out in-store and they are always incredibly helpful. So glad to have another music store option here in Elk Grove.
Solo guitarras usadas y caras
Got an amp.today can we test it
Nice guitar. Fast service and shipping. Thanks!
Bought a Saga Masterclone banjo from here. Neck was loose. Would not tune right. Took off the neck and put it on right. It still had buzzing and intonation problems. Tried adjusting it out but no go. The banjo has a great tone and I wanted it to work. I was assured that the banjo was ready to play before I bought it. Took it to a shop to find the problem and was told the truss rod was stripped out. I already suspected that. Let them know and no answer. They knew this was defective but sold it anyway. My order number is #M142824. Beware. They won’t stand behind their products. If it’s good when you get it fine. If it ain’t, your screwed. I would give them no stars.
You know it was an awesome store when it first opened owners gotten greedy prices are too high now they’re marked up at least 30% more than what the normal prices used to be yep the owners got greedy I know he’s picking them squires up bulk dirt cheap and he’s selling them for about 50 away from full price and beware buyer beware all their used fenders are stamped they say used they stamped the head stocks with a metal stamp
Called to get shipping price on an amp and was told that they don’t like to ship amps and it’s in store pick up only. Really??? You won’t hear Sam Ash or Guitar Center say that. They are happy to ship and take my money.
11. Bowman Cellars
Address: 9010 Graton Rd #9364, Graton, CA 95444 , Graton , California , United States
Such a great place! The interior has nice ambiance, and there’s outdoor seating that is good for groups. They even have live music. I enjoyed their wines. The salad I had was also really tasty. It’s hard to believe they’ve only been open for 5 months- I would’ve thought they’ve been around for much longer seeing how well established they are. The owners are also really kind and give great local tips for out of town visitors. Definitely recommend.
This is a beautiful, thoughtfully decorated space with a great outdoor area! The owners, Katie and Alex are very hands on and often helping with the tasting experience. Flyn is also a wonderful hostess. I love the wine and they also offer perfectly paired charcuterie options to go with it. This is such a hidden gem and I am so happy I found it! I am now a wine club member and they have great club perks too! I highly recommend Bowman Cellars!
I had the pleasure of visiting Bowman Cellars for a Bachelorette winery day. Flinn was our host and she was amazing!!! The backdrop for photos, the service, wine and owners were fabulous!!! 10/10 recommend stopping by if in the area or plan your day around this winery for a tasting!
Good wine and good service.
Good service, interesting and compelling wines. We loved the chard and pinot 2019 out of RRV— good place to grab a bottle and snack with friends.
Drove from Vallejo to try this place. Should have been open for 2 more hours but no one was there. Everything was open, the open sign was lit, keys were on the counter, but there was no one to be found. Disappointing.
