Amazing shop to work with. Ordered an Epiphone from Greenwich, not the most expensive instrument. FedEx had issues with delivery. Despite this not being a high ticket item, Joe worked with me for over a week to make sure I was taken care of and the guitar was delivered. Great experience, great communication, and a great shop.
The Music Angel in the Pandemic.
The pandemic just started. We left New York City to find space in Connecticut. Everything was closed and we were in a new town My son’s cello string pops. What to do now when you need a cello string in a pinch. I called a number of places either no answer, we can’t do it or we can do it for a big price. Businesses taking the opportunity to gouge at the onset did not sit right with me. I left a voicemail at one store my last try. Next thing I know I receive a text from Joe at Greenwich Music asking for my address. He will have his distributor drop ship it to me. Done. No questions. Seamless. We can’t wait to give Greenwich Music more business. They deserve it. Thank you Joe. You are a class act.
We have had nothing but an amazing experience with Greenwich Music. We have used their services for: purchasing music and various instruments, repair and maintenance of instruments, restringing and providing years of wonderful flute lessons with Andrew. His teaching took my daughter’s flute playing to several years above her grade level. Joe, the owner, treats everyone as family and even hosts music recitals for the kids in the store. If he doesn’t have something in the store, he quickly locates it and takes care of your request. As a regular customer
for about a decade, I highly recommend them.
It’s a nice place! It’s a bit small but otherwise it’s nice.
We were kindly helped in the store, but we were buying a guitar for our son and we don’t live in the US. We were having problems with internet so we couldn’t research correctly at the moment, but they assured that the amp could be used in 220 current. We arrived home and we connected the amp and it didn’t work. So the amp was burned. Apart from that the price was a bit higher than the same thing in other stores, it’s not nice to pay 50 dollars more, but that is just business and anyone can charge what they want. It was our fault that we didn’t do a good research before buying. But the very kind person that assured us that it would work because he used to be an electrician, and it only needed a basic adapter, was totally wrong and now we are home and we lost an amp, so we paid extra for the set and it didn’t work. You were very kind indeed, but please if you are not sure about something, don’t sell it. Because we lost money and we can’t go back because we don’t live there.
Their hours aren’t very convenient and I was having a guitar strung and I dropped it off and I didn’t get a call before the store closed and then they were closed the next day Sunday so I didn’t get my guitar until Monday and that was extremely inconvenient. They also have a very small selection of basses.Update, they aren’t even open a couple hours on the 4th of July so I won’t get my guitar till Tuesday I am very upset with this store.
Terrible customer service. Called and said I would be by in 10 minutes for an emergency repair. Guy was nice on the phone. When I arrived 5 minutes early they had closed up and locked. Super helpful…
Rudest customer service I have ever encountered. The man I spoke to on the phone yelled and hung up on me. When my daughter went in person to drop off the instrument for repair at the agreed upon time, he remained upset and kicked my daughter out of the store. Strongly encourage anyone looking to have their instruments fixed to look elsewhere. Disappointing experience to say the least.
6. Steinway & Sons Greenwich
Address: 72 Greenwich Ave, Greenwich, CT 06830 , Greenwich , Connecticut , United States
Sarah Venditti found the perfect piano for us! We had been looking for several years so were absolutely thrilled when Sarah called me a few weeks before the annual historic Steinway factory event in May to say there’d be a beautiful instrument that fit our size, budget, and aesthetic requirements. The icing on the cake was getting to be inside the factory that housed so many incredible instruments and master craftspeople. We highly recommend Sarah!!
This was one of the best purchasing experiences I’ve ever had. Sarah was knowledgeable and professional, and answered my questions honestly. She truly believes in the product and brand, and the pianos speak for themselves. There was no pressure, just respect for me as a potential client. If you’re considering buying a Steinway or a Steinway-designed piano, look no further than Steinway of Greenwich.
Great place to get an awesome piano!
7. 812GUITARS
Address: 61 Riverdale Ave, Greenwich, CT 06831 , Greenwich , Connecticut , United States
Great service, great workmanship, great experience! If you’re looking for any set-up work, repairs, or general guitar tips and tricks reach out to 812!
I had tried 2 other recommended places to get my bass set-up right but nobody could get it just right. Took it into 812 on my teacher’s recommendation- turned it around for me in less than 24 hours because he knew I needed it back in a couple of days – but more importantly, finally my bass feels just right. Literally like night and day from before. Responsive, professional and very fair price for work done. I won’t consider anyone else in the future.
BEWARE!!! The repair was fine, but parts on a vintage guitar was changed from the replaced from the original with cheap parts. I contacted him many times but, I did not get the vintage parts returned. I wonder what he did with them…
Just be careful if you are having vintage equipment worked on.
Every repair shop returns the original parts, if the part was replaced. Especially vintage parts.

Best Decision Ever!!!
Francesco was absolutely the best decision we had made for our wedding… From our first meeting he was very organized and helped us hand select our songs and create the overall vibration of our wedding. The dance floor was full the entire evening! He knows how to read the crowd and plays music that everyone is sure to love. Even the grand-parents were shaking their thangs! Not only was the music spot on, the lighting and monogram were amazing, and having him play the accordion during cocktail hour was amazing personalized touch. If you want the perfect night of your life and for everyone to enjoy the party like I did – then I would definitely recommend having Francesco at your wedding!!!
So, THANK YOU FRANCESCO!!! You are AMAZING! The Best Entertainer Ever!
Love,
Dominique and Luciano
BOOK FRANCESCO ASAP!!! My wife and I were sold on him when he performed at her cousin’s wedding in 2019. We went to a Valentine’s Day party where he performed as well and he covered all different genres and got everyone on the dance floor all night long. And for our wedding, between singing during cocktail hour with the accordion, playing the Italian hits and today’s hits, he kept the flow of our wedding going perfectly. Not to mention, I was emailing him practically daily the week of our wedding for changes that were occurring, and he accommodated them all. I can’t stress enough, if you’re thinking about booking Francesco for your event, do it before someone else does. We were lucky where we got to him first as another couple was looking to book him for the same day. Booking Francesco for our wedding was the easiest decision we made.
Oh What A Weekend!
The moment we booked our wedding we knew we needed Francesco – even if it meant flying him to Mexico! It was going to be difficult to find someone as great as him for our destination wedding in Riviera Maya and it was really a no brainer to us. We’ve had the pleasure of attending several events he has done over the years and had the best time ever at all of them. To me, music is one of the most important parts of a wedding and Francesco did the most amazing job at making it the best party we’ve ever been to. Me and Sean are so grateful you were there and thank you again for everything!!
9. Strings attached
Address: 395 Round Hill Rd #395, Greenwich, CT 06831 , Greenwich , Connecticut , United States
I received a computerized phone message to call this number for a refund because of an awful scamming computer service called ZNS Associates, Ltd. This was probably done to satisfy some regulatory organization rule, and I surmise they have no plans to fulfill any obligations, as I have called them 8 times at prime business hours. The “receptionist” is never in, no messages are returned, and ZNS Solutions was the most deliberately evil company deserved of “restructuring”, albeit, destroying, that I know.
12. Natalia Huang Piano Studio
Address: 139 E Putnam Ave 216 and #217, Greenwich, CT 06830 , Greenwich , Connecticut , United States
We have been with the studio for over 4 years now.. both of my girls play. The teachers are all so wonderful and patient with the kids and this is so integral in their success. We love it here and can’t recommend it enough for anyone who is looking to enroll their children in piano. Natalia the owner is also so helpful and friendly. She will work with you to ensure proper placement of your child and is always available if we need any help.
We’ve had a great experience at the Natalia Huang Studio! Highly recommend!
This is a wonderful piano studio with dedicated teachers. Really stands out in the area for the quality of its instruction and how organized it is in terms of recitals and workshops. They even made the emergency transitions during Covid remarkably well.
13. Atelier Constantin Popescu, LLC
Address: 403 E Putnam Ave, Cos Cob, CT 06807 , Greenwich , Connecticut , United States
Atelier has been our music home for over 7 years and we feel truly blessed we have such a high quality string shop near us. All 3 of our children are string students (1 viola and 2 violins) and people at Atelier have gone above and beyond in helping us ensure that they have everything they need to learn and succeed. From repairing/replacing broken strings and bows to loaning instruments on short notice and connecting us with most wonderful string teachers, they have been there for us in every way. We view them as our true partners in bringing music to our children’s lives and we’d pay more than twice for their strings if that would help Atelier thrive because they are worth every penny of it and something that Greenwich community should endeavor to keep alive.
This violin shop carries superior quality stringed instruments. My husband is a musician and we have rented from them for our children. Their instruments are definitely better than what you will find online at amazon or from most other rental shops that are not specialized in Stringed instruments. The staff has done a good job taking care of our instruments when we need things done, and the convenience of being able to rent instruments of this quality locally is very nice. This business is an asset for our community.
Love it they where very Kind and the best servis
Good cellos, but not a fan of thier violins. It’s mostly just personal preference, still much better instruments than cheaper rental places.
Thier violins made me want to be a violist and that’s not normal.
Overpriced. Found out work done on my instrument would hurt it longterm.
While I understand that small businesses, especially during this time, need to survive and will need to have higher prices than online retailers, the prices at the shop are often at least double what you’ll find at other local shops for online retailers.
This price gouging for students and musicians is not worth it. I’d recommend visiting other reputable string shops in the area or going to Bob Isley in Rye.
As a professional musician and music educator, I cannot recommend going to this shop. If you’re looking to support a local business, you can check out Robert Isley Violins in Rye or Philip Perret in Katonah. I have never been price gouged at either of those shops.
This place is a total SCAM. I should’ve read Yelp reviews before I came here. I have shown the violin to multiple professionals , they said that ‘s not a real piece. Very poor business practices. I think you should read Yelp’s review before you go there.
