I enjoy my weekly visits to Town Center Music for my son’s guitar lessons. The staff represents what good customer service should be and help to make Suwanee what it is – a great place to live and do business! I wish them nothing but overwhelming growth and success in the years to come.
I popped in one day a few months back trying to find a set of oddball bass strings the 2 guys were really cool and a know there stuff. They WANNA be of help but not hounding you
The staff is friendly, patient and very knowledgeable.i didn’t feel pressured or overwhelmed at all. I was so glad to be able to give some support to this small local business and made my selection of an accoustic Breedlove guitar there.
Good
Much better store I not been here in a while the past manager was not a music guy or a manger known as a air head I will be back
Taught my kids to play guitar
Went in there a couple days ago. Not a huge fan. Workers aren’t very pleasant people and they come up to you every 10 minutes kind of giving you the hint to leave if you’re not gonna buy anything like you’re in there too long.
Great for beginners I guess. Don’t come in here expecting higher quality equipment and experience. Name of their game is to hook beginners onto cheap equipment (which is totally fine) and get you out. No hanging out in there jamming for an extended time.
Maybe I came in on a bad day.
Wow. Just called Town Center Music. Someone answered. I started asking about a guitar I’m looking for and got cut off mid-sentence by the guy talking loudly to a co-worker. When he stopped talking I said hello? Hello? Nothing. A few seconds later he hangs up.
Took down my review. Owner ultimately seemed to care about his customers. Too bad everything is so politically incorrect. Anyone still remember Archie Bunker?
But to clarify what idiot would try to exchange something opened, like a reed.
Amazon prime still winnnning.
4. Southern Fried Vinyl Records / Media Mania of Helen
Address: 8160 S Main St, Helen, GA 30545 , Helena , Georgia , United States
I did not know I had a local vinyl shop near me. the closest I have is in Suwannee or Lawrenceville that’s too far. my friend has a gig on Saturday, November 30 at 6 PM so it’s nice to know I have a vinyl record shop that’s close by me haven’t been in there yet
Great store! So many rare albums you will not find elsewhere pricing is spot on and grading !
Excellent
Small shope, interesting selection. Friendly gentleman works there.
Small shop with an eclectic mix of old and new vinyl.
Very cool selection and had some rare stuff I’ve not seen in a physical store before. Prices are insane. I’m sure they will come back and say they did their research, but some examples are a $600 Animal Crossing Switch (Retailed at $300 I believe and still plentiful on aftermarket), $150 for a Kid Rock Record, some stuff rated as VG that I would not call VG by any stretch and a $400 Pikachu N64 without the box ($250-300 typically with box)
I had a feeling the vinyl prices were high so I compared on Discogs, even used the runout numbers to be sure I was checking the right versions and some of these records were $100 over the highest price ever sold on Discogs.
Very shiny and attractive Tourist bait, I’m afraid
Great selection of records however they are extremely overpriced. As someone who actively buys and sells records the prices were astronomical. Even records that are still in print are being sold for about $20 above retail value. The used records are sold way above the secondary market value as well.
Edit: I’m not a flipper by any stretch of the imagination. Just a person who loves collecting records. Also, the store does not stick to their own hours. I arrived at 11:30am and I saw a sign on the door saying they changed the store hours to 2pm-7pm for the day. Not a big deal so I came back at 3pm and it was still closed. Did some more walking around town and came back after 4pm to which the store was finally open. Was not worth the wait all day for the prices they charge. Even saw a bootleg Smashing Pumpkins album being sold for $250 that they were claiming it was legit.
Tried to visit this past Thursday. We were in the book store next door from 10 to 11 am, and this store was still closed when we left.
5. Blue Ridge Music
Address: 629 Duggan Hill Dr, Clayton, GA 30525 , Helena , Georgia , United States
Great Service. Very knowledgeable of the current styles and equipments. Tom has most everything, and can order anything you don’t see in the store. Go see them!!! Great People.
Cool laid back store. They focus on acoustic instruments, but also have a few electrics, keyboards, pa gear, etc. Mostly focused on affordable instruments. Also they have lessons there. I recommend stopping in if you’re in the area! (I was on vacation from Atlanta).
Great experience but i needed something very specific. The guys working however were of great help and very easy to speak with
Odd hours for a store, most people are working during the time they are open. But good quality items can be found inside. Just wish they’d be open when I could get to them for a purchase.
The store is run down and filthy. The lady working had zero product knowledge. I had visited before and it was organized….that was years ago. It’s a mess now, the woman working didn’t even get up from the dirty hobo couch to see if I needed assistance, she should be dusting.
Not very friendly or concerned with helping. Pretty indifferent
It has the “creepy pawn shop” feel about the place. I was eager to leave.
6. Musician’s Warehouse
Address: 245 N Lumpkin St, Athens, GA 30601 , Helena , Georgia , United States
I first discovered this shop bringing my daughter to UGA. Fell in love with a fiesta “Dawg” red strat and it was still there on my next visit several months later. It was one of those limited run models that was everywhere online but harder to find in most shops – it lived up to hype.
Ed and the team in the shop helped me get it in my hands several weeks later through their online store. From start to finish a personalized, friendly, easy and straightforward purchase.
Passing through Athens and need to see some guitars?! Stop by Musician’s Warehouse in Athens, especially if you’re looking for a hard to find Fender!
Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Very good selection definitely on my list of go to musical stores for strings, keyboards and drums.
Great place. Friendly atmosphere. Just purchased a 12-string and the buying experience couldn’t have been better.
Nice selection of stringed and percussion instruments. Pretty decent prices, too.
Professional assistance provided.
Could be a little more organized. Drum area needs more open space. And more displayed of items. Seems pretty congested.
Poor selection. If you like grandpa guitars this is the place. Wouldnt recomend to any modern guitar players.
Dude I’m not sure what happened. The first floor is desolate (empty for everybody that’s currently reading this while dunk). I understand social distancing, but I’m I am attending Warehouse, I do not care about the current situation, I’m here to rave. Open the first floor for a mosh pit.
Really wanted to like this company. I was cheated and conned, and after a week with zero communication I contacted them. They fumbled around for another day or two then stated they couldn’t find the item. I was left empty handed and confused. No attempt at finding the item or ordering another. Nothing. Zip. C’mon guys!
7. Jerry Lee’s Music Store
Address: 101 West St Patrick St, St Marys, GA 31558 , Helena , Georgia , United States
Love these dudes bot my guitar ther and trying to get a job there
Came here with my girlfriend Leanna to have my guitars truss rod adjusted, what we left with was way more than what we could have asked for. We were greeted by Suzy and Jerry near the register where Jerry was pretty much on the spot was able to look at my red LTD EC-401qm and shared with me his findings, asked me really important questions about my play style and provided his professional advise while making a quick truss rod adjustment that made my guitar feel so much better! After that I poked around the shop and fell in love with one of their Austin S-style guitars some of the telecaster body guitars on display. The guitars felt absolutely great and were very affordable. From the other side of the shop Leanna was playing with a Breedlove Myrtlewood ukulele that sounded absolutely amazing (which we took home + a gig bag). Between me playing with some of their guitars and getting that ukulele for Leanna we were able to meet some local artists and learned about local events. I’m glad I did not take my guitar to Guitar Center to have my truss rod adjusted, otherwise we would have never been able to experience the outstanding level of service Jerry Lee’s Music provides; you can tell that they have a real passion for music. Thank you for everything Jerry and Suzy, we look forward to our next visit.
Shopping for the perfect instrument can prove a daunting task…Jerry Lee’s friendly demeanor and professional insight are a breath of fresh air that helps make the decision a clear headed and enjoyable choice.
I just dropped off my daughters trumpet for a stuck valve. I was promptly greeted with a friendly smile. When I get the horn back I will up date my review.
Nice people. They also offer classes at reasonable prices for any aspiring musicians.
It’s pretty cool. Like the people there.
If you are into electric guitars, the selection is very limited, and even the ones in stock had problems.
8. Ponce De Leon Music Center
Address: 2627 Peachtree Pkwy Suite 420, Suwanee, GA 30024 , Helena , Georgia , United States
Stopped in with my husband to drop of his guitar for a set-up. Katie was super helpful, answered all of his questions and took the time to let him demo an amp. She was amazingly friendly and excited to be taking about guitars, great experience!
Amazing staff! The facility is very nice as well. I am so glad that there’s a place that repairs clarinets! Their staff is very knowledgeable about all band instruments. They have everything related to band instruments, as well as huge collection of guitars!
9. Megatone Music
Address: 44b Town Sq, Blairsville, GA 30512 , Helena , Georgia , United States
We found this absolute gem of a music store while traveling thru Blairsville.
This store is very clean, very good selection on all gear & the prices are more than fair.
The owner Darryl is very kind & will answer any & every question you have on anything in his store.
It was a real pleasure to do business with him.
I absolutely recommend this store to anyone that wants a great deal with friendly service.
Gret place and awesome people!
It’s a great music store with friendly people. They know what they’re doing. You can take music lessons, buy instruments and get them repaired there also.
Even a simple order of a single item can turn into an issue with this place. Save yourself the hassle and do not associate with this business.
Scammers. Associate Darryl is a nasty individual and scams his customers. Stay away from this business.
Ordered a brand new guitar for a present and it arrived with a scuff. Not sure if it was packed like this or it happened during transit. I sent a freindly message to Megatone Music about it and the initial response I got was that it was a mislabled used guitar, not a brand new one as advertized. Then he said that i scratched it and its not a big deal, my friend will be happy with a present. Not a pleasant expereince. Seller’s responses seem manipulative.
10. Dirt Cheep Pro Audio & Musical Instruments
Address: 2415 S Cobb Dr SE, Smyrna, GA 30080 , Helena , Georgia , United States
I went in for some rosin for my hurdy gurdy. Got a bit of an odd look when I told him what it was for, but I’m used to odd looks. He was very personable and funny. They also give out free sunglasses which is kinda odd, but hey, free sunglasses
Good guys. Been around a long time. Local and convenient
We have made 2 decent sized purchases here. They are really knowledgeable & priced fairly.
Thanks.
Not that cheap
Great place for all musicians and those just thinking about picking up your first instrument. Nice selection and great prices can be found.
I have been going to these guys for years. I have had nothing but good experiences. They were very honest and never pushed me to buy unnecessary equipment or supplies.
Terrible quality even for the low price, employees work for commission, talk you into buying things you don’t need. I bought a viola there, and it was good since I had just begun. Two years later the thing sucks.
They’re cheap because the have little worth buying. I don’t know about brass, band, school instruments but their guitars, etc. are nothing to get excited about. Even the bigger name stuff is their entry level offerings. Their pricing doesn’t appear to be any cheaper than other stores. Selection is severely limited. You have to ask yourself, who would trade in a Fender or Gibson on a $300.00 junker from who knows where? Also, I’ve been playing over 60 years and, with rare exceptions never go into D.C.M. without getting a lecture from someone. I get the impression that to work there you need to be a frustrated preacher.
They charged me a 10% restocking fee for an M-Audio USB interface that had flaky drivers for Windows 7 64-bit. When I told them about this problem one of the guys asked if I was running SP1 or SP2 for Windows 7. When I told him no service packs are out for Windows 7 he looked it up right in front of me and had the audacity to say that M-Audio had drivers for Win 7 SP2. This guy was totally clueless. So I got charged $36 because M-Audio had bad drivers. I won’t be going back.
11. Ken Stanton Music
Address: 5236 Stone Mountain Hwy, Stone Mountain, GA 30087 , Helena , Georgia , United States
Visited this store while vacationing during the holidays. Was hoping they could look at a new guitar I had bought (from elsewhere) and diagnose a problem. Scott was very friendly, gave me a free adjustment, and advised me on how to proceed with the instrument when I returned home.
Looking around the shop, they had some great instruments and gear. I’m a guitarist primarily, and noticed some great guitar deals and competitive prices. I will definitely visit again when I return to Stone Mountain, GA.
Great customer service, clean / organized shop. Highly reccomend!
The guys here are very friendly and very helpful
The customer service is outstanding. I always come here for my musical needs.
They’re very nice and respectful and helpful
Polite service.
Ken Stanton Music is the hometown brand. It is apparently one legitimate alternative to Guitar Center and Sam Ash. I stopped by the store recently and had a pleasant experience.
From the exterior, you can tell that the store won’t have a massive selection. It’s a smaller store, but still worth checking out. You could always find a gem. I found a pretty reasonably priced Gibson ES-Les Paul that I’m strongly considering.
I worked with Ben during my time in the store, and he was terrific. The store didn’t carry a White Falcon or a Martin D35, but he found that other Ken Stanton locations carried them and offered to have them delivered to the Stone Mountain location.
There’s a lot to consider when investing in expensive instruments and gear. As it currently stands, I wouldn’t mind buying from Ben at Ken Stanton.
I had one of the worst customer service experience dealing with Scott in this store than I have experienced in a long time . At first his unprofessionalism upset me .After I left and thought about it, it made me sad that a person would think it is ok to treat another person in such a way.
This place doesn’t care their clients.
I have been buying here so many music items, but I will never comeback again.
Last item I bought was strings for my bass.
My bass is 5 strings and by mistake I bought a set of 4 strings.
I went back to exchange them, but they didn’t allow me to do that because the case was open.
So they lost me as a client, they also lost my recommendations.
All this just for $20.
Not a smart move from them.
Staff with the exception of skip was not helpful, very discourteous and unprofessional
12. Ponce De Leon Music Center
Address: 1060 Dahlonega Hwy, Cumming, GA 30040 , Helena , Georgia , United States
Excellent people and customer service. I bought a ukulele for my 10-year old from Amazon and I was not able to tune it myself because the instructions that came with it were poor. I called the folks at this music store, and they said they could tune it for me free of charge. It only took 5 minutes. They gave me a lot of information about the ukulele (quality and whatnot), when it should be tuned, and also showed me their ukuleles. I was also able to get a recommendation for someone who gives ukulele lessons. I will absolutely go to them again when I need another tuning and new strings! I highly recommend them! (If they sold baby grand pianos, I would purchase one from them!)
Very helpful staff
Needed new guitar strings. Great select of acoustic & electric guitars… if you are right handed. I am not.
Very friendly staff!
Muy surtido y los precios muy razonable
Maestros profesionales
The customer service is awful I definitely won’t be back there every again
Had to make a quick stop to grab a few things. I know it was closing time. I was trying to make it quick. When they started harassing my husband reminding him when they close he left and we took our business somewhere else. Customers want to feel welcomed, not reminded how unfortunate you are to have to lock the door right at 5:00.
13. Music Go Round – Atlanta/Duluth, GA
Address: 3675 Satellite Blvd # 100, Duluth, GA 30096 , Helena , Georgia , United States
Very friendly, great deals! Super nice and great store. Awesome guitars and amps for an awesome price.
Awesome place to trade in unused or old music gear. The whole staff is great to work with. I typically work with Pauly when I come in to the store. Always up front and real with you on gear trade ins!
This place is absolutely awesome. I wish we had one here, but the drive is well worth it….
There are too many instruments in this place. Way too many. Like, one or two more guitars could create a musical singularity that implodes most of Duluth. Beware.
Great customer service
Awesome!! Geeat music shop. Good service by employers
Guitar Center offers more for your used gear
No encontre lo que necesitaba
Was told that i wpuldnt have to worry abput getting low balled on my music equipment and that was a lie. Didnt even want cash just wanted a fair trade on an instrument. They seriously tryed to rip me off on my trade ins. Even when one of my items was completly new in box. Cant wait to see how much longer that guitar sets on there and no one buys it. Waisted two hours of my day and gas. Would have brought these guys lots of good buisness with new trade ins and buys on equipment.
14. Guitar Center
Address: 2480 Briarcliff Rd NE Suite 13, Atlanta, GA 30329 , Helena , Georgia , United States
Nice remodel…Lee is the best representative to help u
I love this Guitar Center. They have the coolest acoustic room ever. Very knowledgeable. The band used to stop at these because finding the mom and pop music stores to support with our business was sometimes impossible to find. Most major cities had a first center.
Fantastic tech support at the repair center and finished work far sooner than expected. When I wanted to grab some starter items for my partner, Brandon was particularly attentive and helpful in finding the right gig bag and capo, plus check me out for some repair work. Outstanding service.
Good service
It was a cool experience, the main problem is they don’t have a lot of products available to demo
Had a great experience buying a drum set at Guitar Center. Josh was very helpful and knowledgable about the drum equipment and helped me pick out the best set for our needs. Would definitely recommend!
They had me on hold for like 30 mins and I never got the assistance needed…
Terrible
I recognize that we’re in a pandemic, but what happened to this store? I came in to buy another guitar stand that I know has been reliable and has lasted over 10 years, only to be told that the store “is using these stands for merchandise.” I was then sold a somewhat cheaper stand that I was told was just as reliable. Ok. I unpack this stand and the padding immediately falls off. Waste of time and $14, yet they didn’t want to sell me a slightly pricier stand because they (the store) was using it. Do better, Guitar Center.
15. Sam Ash Music Stores
Address: 2999 Cobb Pkwy, Atlanta, GA 30339 , Helena , Georgia , United States
It was awesome. Such a great service from Chris in the keyboard department. He gave me all I needed with the best affordable prices. Thanks.
Jason was extremely helpful and friendly. We were there to buy my son a guitar for his 21st birthday. Jason invited him to play whichever ones he wanted, set him up with a cable and let him take his time deciding. We wound up purchasing a beautiful cream colored American Strat. I highly recommend Sam Ash Music.
Great experience! Staff is very knowledgeable and they have the best selection in town.
Not alot of variety. Mostly lower end selection across the board. Costumer service is hit or miss.
Great store for musicians to reach out and ” touch” the merchandise without being scolded like a 3 yr old in a toy store. The customer service is great. The selection of merchandise and brands are great. Prices are competitive. You’ll probably find what you’re looking for on a visit.
None.
Called to confirm a price match . The manager told us to come by and they will honor it if they called guitar center and confirmed the price .
Drove 30 minutes to Sam Ash and the manager went back on his word and told us he will only honor prices that are advertised and would not call guitar center to confirm.
No apologies . Will not be doing business with them. Went to guitar center , bought the piano and received great customary service
Would give a negative star if I could, the worse customer service. Was actually made to feel like a nuisance. Was planning on getting a guitar for my son and a few other things, but was completely ignored, and when asking the guy behind the counter who was on the computer for some help, he told me he was busy. Apparently too busy on the computer to help a person in the store. Will not go back! I will go spend my money elsewhere.
Walked in today 08/22/2016 with $1000 ready to buy a drum kit and some cymbals and maybe find some of those L80 cymbals for practicing in the house. Told the guy Im here to buy a kit and he says great. Go back to the drums and nobody comes near me, everybody hides or walks away. Lesson learned Sam Ash. I wont be coming near there again unless to go the pet store down the street. Thanks for the help…Not.
16. Ken Stanton Music
Address: 6010 North Point Pkwy, Alpharetta, GA 30022 , Helena , Georgia , United States
So much better then guitar center, Jacob was very helpful.
Thanks to Jared and the staff at Ken Stanton on North Point. Very friendly and knowledgeable, great selection, and my new guitar plays beautifully!
All 3 times I’ve been there, I’ve felt very welcome, especially by Glenn. Knowledgeable and friendly, and he has a calm, relaxing presence. From pianos to guitars to ukes, it’s hard to leave this store! 🙂
i don’t write reviews unless the service and/or store is exceptional. Ken Stanton Music in Alpharetta goes way beyond that. Over the past 50 years, I’ve been to music stores in California, Texas, Florida, Alabama, Tennessee and some around the Alpharetta/Roswell area. I can honestly say that the Ken Stanton store has them all beat, hands down. Jared McDurmont, the store manager, and his staff, Rob, Cheney, Mario, Joe, and Jacob are friendly, courteous, knowledgeable, and professional. The thing that impressed me the most, though, is they listen, then make suggestions that would accommodate your needs or solve your problems. And they all genuinely care that you”re totally satisfied with their service. Whether you’re a beginner or a professional, I highly recommend you go to Ken Stanton Music in Alpharetta.
Norman Wiltberger
I am visiting from Las Vegas and found Cheney Brannon, in the drum department to be friendly, knowledgeable, and willing to spend a few minutes with me. Cheney will be getting a call from me next year when I will be ready to buy my new Tama Star or Starclassic kit……
Friendly, very helpful
Do not rent an instrument from this company….they double bill and then report negatively to credit agencies, purchase may be ok
DO NOT LEASE OR RENT
I took my son’s guitar to fix string and my son’s tuner gone. So I called and someone who answer the phone he saying they can’t do anything. Even didn’t try pull up my information. I want to give 0 star if I can.
My brother plays trombone in school marching band and it broke over time. So I brought him here to repair the trombone, rented one and got some accessories that requires from school. Anyway one little page clip we bought was wrong we went back here bought new one and keeps forgetting to return the unused clip.
Today I finally spare some time to return the part but they refused to refund me because it was out of the return date. I asked nicely if there’s anything I can do maybe store credit because it’s going to be a waste anyway if I bring back home again. They still refused and suggested me to donate it to the school??
I must say I’m very disappointed because I’m a regular customer that spent like $500+ here already and u cannot even store credit me like $14 bucks. I feel like the least you can do is give out the store credit if you smart enough so maybe you can keep this customer.
So eventually I just left the piece to them and left. Probably won’t come back no more
17. JAWS GUITARS
Address: 111 Mountain Vista Blvd #135, Canton, GA 30115 , Helena , Georgia , United States
Friendly service, good selection for such a small place.
Jim is the best.
Amazing, friendly and really can make your guitar, bass ,play better than ever! No.1 in Georgia
Knowledgeable, friendly owner. Cozy shop and nice environment. Now, if I could just magically learn how to play…..I’d give it one more star….
Cool store no other music stores in Canton owner is cool
support your local music stores. professional repairs and great service. These guys give fair prices on trade-ins as well.
I needed a setup for my Gibson Les Paul and decided to give Jaws a shot because of their overwhelmingly positive reviews. I dropped of my guitar and told the luthier that I was experiencing a lot of fret buzz. The turn around time was very quick and I was able to pick it up the next day. I was told that there would still be some buzz based on my attack, which seemed like a cop out. I asked if there were any high frets and I was assured that there were none. I took the guitar home and played it to find that I was still experiencing buzzing even when strummed lightly. I pulled out the fret rocker to find that several of my frets were high despite what the shop told me. Overall, this was a waste of time and money and I’m very disappointed with the level of service.
18. Guitar Center
Address: 970 North Point Dr Suite A120, Alpharetta, GA 30022 , Helena , Georgia , United States
Worked with us on price and got us the best deal possible. Good job.
We intended to look at piano keyboards, knowing very little about what we needed. (It was a birthday present for a 9 year old). To shorten the story, we were shown multiple options by someone who could discuss the features intelligently. We chose the only one that happened to be the last one in the store. We were given a fair discount, but it was the product, the knowledgeable salesman, no pressure, and (comparing online afterward) realized we got a great price relative to other stores.
Very helpful and professional staff. I buy my first acoustic guitar and got a 3 free lessons
Excelente local com grande variedade. Mas o preço é bem elevado.
Lot of instruments to choose from. Customer service is really good. They do ask what do we want in particular. They do also offer few music classes. Must visit for any music lover
Bueno el personal muy atento
I went to the store to buy a Cajon. the sales agent(jason i believe) showed me a product and he said since he doesn’t have a boxed one on the floor he would need to order it. I said ok and he went ahead and ordered it. When i asked him about the delivery date he said 3 to 5 days, i asked him if there was any discount available and he said there is but he wasn’t sure if he could apply it.
The next day when i called the customer care to check the status on the order they said it was back ordered and would take more than 3 weeks. I also asked them if it was possible to apply the discount i saw online and guess what. The customer care representative said he can cancel the backlogged order and place a new order with a nearby store and he said to that order he can provide the 15% discount.
Long story short, the online/phone agent was ten times more helpful than the agent in the store.
Do you enjoy being ignored in the store? Do you like your questions to be answered with “that’s not my department; I’m more of a guitar player” then this is the store for you!
One of the store manager needs to improve his costumer service
