The guys that work there were amazing. So helpful and willing to share their knowledge. I’m a beginner and knew nothing about ukuleles. Mahalo
Mitch was able to find everything we needed.
I travel all over the US and visit many music stores and without a doubt Easy Music Center is one of the best stores I’ve been too. The staff is great, very knowledgeable and helpful, and the selection is top notch. Their commitment to the local community in the form of concerts. clinics from manufacturers, contests, lessons,, etc., is really great and something you rarely see in the music retail industry. And when you see a bad review here you notice that the owner himself answers and tries to resolve the complaint personally. That is a quality business. Honolulu is fortunate to have such a great music store.
There aren’t many music stores on the island for acoustic guitars. Even the guitar itself was kind of damaged and it was $1200. The guitars are pretty mistreated and they don’t have much stock in the back. I also wish the room was acoustic friendly.
These guys are great always professional I like easy music !!!
Small shop but great staff.
I Liked EMC back when they were on keeaumoku or in mapunapuna. Presocialism emc lol
Disappointed in guitar diagnostic and repair. First time I brought my guitar in, the guy didn’t know what was causing the buzzing, so I paid the diagnostic fee knowing he tried.
Later at home, I found a loose brace and took it back for a repair, I’m wondering if he even looked inside the guitar.. Again I paid the repair fee for the loose brace, but again he said he couldn’t fix the buzzing and sent me home still disappointed.
Again, through trial and error at home, I noticed a small crack on the surface that I could easily feel on the inside.. And with a little pressure on that spot, the buzzing goes away! Surely he missed this problem too..so I will be going elsewhere for diagnostic and repairs from now on.
Worst music store I’ve ever been to. Extremely difficult to work with & not helpful at all. Gave me the wrong item & would not let me return it. Kept me waiting forever when I tried to return an item and I had a flight to catch.
Very rude & confrontational. Avoid this place at all cost & do NOT go here!
The take no accountability & the blame everything on the customer.
3. Goodguys Music & Sound LLC
Address: 619 Kapahulu Ave, Honolulu, HI 96815 , Homs , Hawaii , United States
hooked me up with a great affordable guitar and gig bag, staff super nice. goodguys number one.
Very nice and helpful.
A lot of options available
I liked the shop.
Helpful staff but mostly cheaper instruments.
I am a repeat customer and always enjoyed the friendly service. I have bought several baritone ukuleles of various value and was always satisfied. However, today I spoke with Chris? And confirmed that I wanted to purchase the cheaper of the two that he said they have. At 4:30 pm I called him to let him know that I was on my way. He stated that they were filming inside the store but he would meet me outside and said “I got you” I thanked him. When I got there he informed me that he sold the ukulele!!! I was visibly bummed. He said that the customer had the ukulele in his hand and he didn’t want to tell him no. I asked if they still had the more expensive one ($500) nah was ($200) for real. He said yup, so I told him I would purchase it. I went to the ATM and even paid the additional fee because he said would be more convenient so I said sure. I got back just as he was coming from the back. Ukulele in hand, no case or box or receipt. He even threw in a tuner. I was stocked. In my excitement I tried to tune it as soon as i got to my car. Was having difficulties from the very start. Eventually even with the tuner. Really bummed. I ripped the strings right off the uke. Even burned the tuner with my altered torch. Luckily it was enough to destroy the tuner. If I am not able to get a replacement one, even if it’s cheaper one then I will be handling this matter between Chris and myself(Scott T Kurosu). I was very impressed by Chris’s quick response. I was able to go down the very next day and after hearing my feeliepairedengs about the situation he offered to replace my uke. However I would have to wait for the next delivery. I asked him if he could repair my uke, nothing fancy just as long as it works. He repaired it and also gave me $100 out of his own pocket. I am very grateful and happy. Thank you Chris Aloha & god bless
Bought a pedal there while holidaying in Hawaii, it occurred to me the next day I should buy a good ol’ American pedal, instead of a Chinese pedal, ecspecially while in the states. The staff didnt feel the same, and seemed that it was a big deal to make an exchange. I wouldn’t go back.
Ron at Westside music is probably the best person to talk to about anything having to do with any instrument. Very knowledgeable and personable..Coolest place to go to Ever…
The owner is very friendly and is very knowledgeable when it comes to anything musical. This is the first store I went to look for a brand new guitar and I left with one I enjoyed a lot. I would definitely recommend this store to anyone who wants an instrument or has a question about any instruments. I am very satisfied with my purchase and experience.
Great place to go. The owner Ron is such a cool guy to speak to. Very knowledgeable in music overall. Thanks Ron!!!
Hard to find but there are some treasures in here whether you are a beginner looking for something affordable or a collector looking for that rare vintage item. Owner is a super nice guy.
They had what I needed
I like this small independent music store as the owner is very friendly and his prices are reasonable. Will definitely be shopping there again
I’ve been here a few times and didn’t have much to say. But now I think it’s worth the time to get on here and sing the praises of the new guy, Jesse. He greeted me quickly but gave me time and space to look on my own. When I was ready with questions he was very attentive and made sure to listen to me and guide me, not push me into buying something I didn’t need or want. I’ll definitely be going back for future purchases. Thanks Jesse!
A few days ago I went looking for a bongo stand for seated & standing playing. Prices on Oahu are ridiculous for both & more expensive to buy individually.
In my search I found the ‘Guitar Center’ at Pearl Highlands & I had the pleasure to meet employee Jesse Bayot.
He showed me two stands & one of them, a Pearl brand sold for $119.12 (total which I bought) for seated & standing bongo playing….$119.12!!! Awesome price!
The Baja brand was for seated players, BUT it sold for only $80.00!! I couldn’t believe it! Jesse informed me that the Guitar Center is the largest music instrument store in the USA. That being said, the prices are more fair for us Hawaiian residents. Good Aloha, eh.
But what got me about Jesse is that you can tell he really loves his job & it definitely shows. He went out of his way to show me how to install my bongos to the stand. I walked out a very happy man & I definitely recommend the Guitar Center to get better & more fair prices for our music needs.
Much Mahalo e Aloha again to Jesse Bayot …
Great to have a local big box store for musical gear on island!
The service is really slow and they seemed understaffed. There was one customer in from tor me that returned a guitar that took about about 45 minutes. I had to rush because I had to leave for an appointment. I do like that they have have a guitar repair shop (I dropped off a guitar to get set up) and a place to take lessons. I can wonder around there looking at things. I was surprised that they cannot just request an item to be shipped to their location that is on their website and do not have control of their local stock. I am glad they opened a location here.
This place has been my go-to for yrs. I love looking at new gear and always love to play so check it out!!!!
Really helpful staff. They will take the time to answer your questions and help you with your shopping.
Well I was being helped by one individual who really couldn’t tell me much about the product I was going to buy. So he told me to wait while he gets someone with a little more expertise. So I did. Didn’t expect to wait for 30-45 minutes. Walked out and went to another music store and made a large purchase there instead. Oh well, it happens…
Edited my post….
I was a bit harsh…I still stand by the rating. Guitar Center’s CEO should be ashamed of their inventory system….
Visited 3x since opening. Initially I thought that because they were so new, the customer service would obviously be lacking. Here we are today and…things have not changed. Gonna continue to order my stuff online.

So happy with the lovely instruments and fast friendly service.. And the discounts.. really., this place is great thank you so much‼️ ☺️
Good guy, Jon helped me pick my first acoustic guitar. Too bad I forgot to buy a capo.
These guys know whats up! If you want to rent or buy a quality instrument this is the spot. The people who work there and the owner are truly awesome and knowledgeable. Go here 1000000%
They have knowledgeable staff and usually have what I’m looking for. If not, they give referrals.
Awesome owners
Best place on island for drummers
Visited the store yesterday to buy 2 ukuleles. There were 2 customers ahead of me. Staff spent ample time with those customers and I waited patiently. I appreciated the attention that was given to them and I was looking forward to the same treatment. After 50 minutes (yes, 50 minutes), it was finally my turn. After speaking to me for 5 minutes, he excused himself to talk to the customer who just entered the store. I was dumbfounded. After a couple of minutes, when it was apparent that he did not want to help me, I left. I don’t know what I said or did, but it was clear that he didn’t value my time or wallet. I wasted a lot of time and he lost a sale.
8. Bounty Music
Address: 111 Hana Hwy #105, Kahului, HI 96732 , Homs , Hawaii , United States
I’ve rented electric bases there twice. Both times entry level Fenders: J-bass the first time, P-bass the second time. Same price for 1-7 days. Fractionally more for the second week. Both times it was new; carrying case included. Rental process was fast and easy.staff are super nice. I will return to them for future visits.
The staff there is very knowledgeable and make buying music gear a lot of fun. Great store!!
I am always treated so good at Bounty Music. I have been doing business with them from the first day they open on Maui. I always find what I want and need at Bounty Music. Extra thanks to the sales associate for listening to my stories:) Aloha
THIRTY SIX DOLLARS FOR A PACK OF STRINGS. BOGO free luckily, but Jesus Christ y’all. Save your money for the mainland.
Good selection of ukes to choose from with resonable prices.
Had to drive around to the back of the store. Store clerk had me wait outside as he went to get two packs of guitar strings. They had what I was looking for. Only took a couple of minutes.
WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER!
Horrible service, incompetent tech can never repair instruments never demonstrate a true sincere desire to help toxic place not a true music store what a shame!! don’t go there!
Hey Beware,
I’m sorry but I’ve had a couple of rough experiences at bounty. I wanted to buy an artist series Stratocaster. I explained that I had looked online and was wondering if they could match the price or come close? I was told…
“If you can find it online you should just order it there, it’s easier.” I did explain that I like to support local businesses … but the sales guy was less than interested, and he just ended the conversation by walking away . Boy did I feel naive! I will say that I went online and ordered a nice guitar with free shipping and it was at my door in no time. I’ve since ordered an amp and two more guitars… all online without talking to Bounty. I have to confess that all experiences were “easier” than dealing with Bounty.
I just got off the phone with them and again I can’t believe the attitude. I explained that I was going to ship some guitars to the mainland, and did they have any guitar boxes that they were going to recycle or throw away? If so I would like to reuse them…you know go “green”. I’m not planing to ship for a couple of months.
“no” we don’t have any of those boxes…I was told, but we will sell you a Taylor box for 20$. They hung up on me before I could explain that I can get a bundle of 5 boxes for 8$ (online) with free shipping, so 20$ for 1 box is … well typical Bounty. I’m not really sure what the bad attitude is at Bounty? It is true that you can buy online for quite a bit cheaper than what Bounty offers on almost every single item they carry (this includes shipping costs).
Honestly Bounty seems disinterested and even lazy sometimes. I still go in and look every once in a while, but I don’t feel compelled to spend my money there.
1 star because, really it’s not worth the head ache to drive into town to put up with bad attitude!
I’ll give another star because a couple of the staff members are very nice… so it’s not a total waste of time…
I recommend that you do what I do which is… I just sit at my computer with a hot cup of coffee and shop away.. (go Prime!).
9. KoAloha ʻUkulele
Address: 〒96814 Hawaii, Honolulu, Kona St , Homs , Hawaii , United States
Thank you so much for helping me choose a ukulele that suits my style and personality! I loved learning about the passion and mastery it takes to produce the best sound from one musical instrument on the free tour, and my ukulele looks beautiful! Thanks so much again for the kind service and chat, this was definitely a highlight of my Hawaii holiday experience!
Here is the power spot in this Island.
Koko wa Hawaii no power spot desu.
Don’t miss it if you go to Honolulu Hawaii.

Super chill and intimate store. Friendly staff. Our tour guide (I think his name was Paul) also recommend some great shaved ice in the area!
突然訪問したが商品説明など対応していただき感謝しています。
Unfortunately I couldn’t find my ukulele there. There wasn’t that much choice, but I believe it’s mostly because they are exporting ukuleles. Still I have the feeling that they don’t want to sell. I had to ask for a demo.
OK product but terrible customer service. Never replied to any of my emails or calls. Some defects on the guilele but I didn’t notice it when I bought it so that’s kinda my fault.
Perchased a $1100+ KoAloha Koa at Music Exchange at the Big Island in July 2019 and am very very disappointed. It always go out of tune even during use. I tune in before use and while playing, it goes out of tune. I waited to write this review as I was hoping that it gets better hoping the strings are just adjusting…no avail. It appears that the tuners do not fit well and loose. I have two much cheaper mahogany ukuleles, $89 and $295. The $295 does not get out of tune and sounds just about the same as this expensive KoAloha. Hoping to hear from the company as to what they can do about it.
Wanted to do tour. Website said doing them. emailed to make reservation as instructed. No response from them. Tried calling and no one answered. Only recording giving same instructions as website. Went to location to do tour in case just needed to show up. Doors locked. No one there. Note on door saying as of May 2, 2022 no tours and not open due to staff shortage. Would be nice if message on phone had related this or even a note on the website
