Gigi is a ton of experience and talent and it shows! From the first consultation I knew I was in good hands. Her style is broad and flexible and she was able to work with me to design and tattoo exactly what I wanted. Her studio is small but clean and comfortable and she even let me pick out the music I wanted during my tattoo!
Cute little shop. Amazing artist, best time every time I get inked.

Address: 45-513 Rickard Pl, Honokaa, HI 96727 , Honoka‘a , Hawaii , United States
I had an incredible life changing healing session!! He intuitively knew exactly what I needed and moved through so much energy!! I felt at peace and confident with myself and felt relaxed about the ‘problem’ I was going through. My body also felt so open as he released alot of tension and pain. I highly recommend Freely’s superb guidance and healing arts.
I very much enjoyed Freely’s Inner Alchemy class – it was dynamic, relaxing, and revitalizing. Freely is a great teacher, super knowledgeable, and has a calming and healing presence. I recommend his offerings for anyone desiring greater self-knowledge, health and healing on all levels, and inner peace. Mahalo!
Before my session with Inner Way Healing, I was suffering from massive mental distress. My waking days felt like hell, my sleep was troubled, my nightmares intense, and I would regularly shoot straight up in bed gasping for breath from thoughts and images I couldn’t shake.
During the session and after, I felt such calmness and inspiration. I slept soundly that night, my dreams were sweet, and I woke up happy to be alive! The next day, I actually felt peace all day long, a sensation last felt Lordess knows when. The after-effects are continuing to ripple even now. Feeling as if the once opposing parts of me are integrating, and the legs of my intentions are now supporting the body of my actions in a unified direction. This feeling of “I am well, and who I am and where I am going is perfectly fine” is serene ecstasy. To love myself again, as I am, is sublime. What a blessing this is.
Thank You, healing Freely. I am very great-full for you and your gifts.
4. The CARDINAL Herbs, teas and Spices
Address: 45-3321 Mamane St, Honokaa, HI 96727 , Honoka‘a , Hawaii , United States
Excellent lunch spot. Had the cold oats and mock chicken sandwich. Very tasty. Friendly owners.
Chaga Maca Creamy Mocha!!!
Stopped in for coffee and tea. Very nice place to visit. I liked the large variety of herbs. The owners are very friendly and the place is very clean.
Fabulous gluten-free, vegetarian panini made with mock chicken and mango was a treat. I was hungry and thirsty and then I wasn’t, thanks to this delightful shop. Faces the ocean just as you’re driving out the north end of Honokaa town. Worth a stop. Do try the teas! Served in short ball jars, they look and taste just right.
Yummy vegan food in a super cute old building in Honakaa, staff was friendly too !
I wanted to love this place. Everything was so intentional. The presentation of our drinks, the layout of the café, the games available to play while you’re sitting there. But ultimately my review goes back to our drinks. I should probably have done more research before stopping here. It’s fully plant-based, so my husband and I aren’t exactly the target audience (ie. we would prefer a dairy product in our coffee). I had an iced latte and my husband had a mocha. Both drinks tasted incredibly watered down…as if the coffee was hardly there. My latte tasted mostly like sweetened soy milk. For the prices and the atmosphere, we had high hopes for our coffee…but the flavors truly fell flat. Lovely batista and cafe location, but can’t say I’d recommend.
5. Big Island Guitars and Music Supply
Address: 1221 Kilauea Ave #10, Hilo, HI 96720 , Honoka‘a , Hawaii , United States
Was on vacation (all the way from Iowa) and went in to rent an accoustic guitar…ended up choosing a Timberline, which sounded very good and was more than adequate for my needs. Owner was in shop and was awesome, very much liked him and the entire experience was tremendous. If you are in need of gear or are on the island and need a rental…Big Island Guitars was excellent and you can tell this store is in business for all the right reasons. Thanks Big Island!
Bought a guitar and now I’m giving it 5 stars: long over due.
Previous rating was an error. Sorry about that!
Spencer is a very personable individual who is very knowledgeable. The store itself is quaint and stock can be limited but it has pretty much everything that’s needed in general.
Drove an hour , website said open, answering service said open, closed during advertised business hours.
6. Music Exchange
Address: 75-5626 Kuakini Hwy, Kailua-Kona, HI 96740 , Honoka‘a , Hawaii , United States
Very cool music shop. The two guys that work here are very helpful and friendly. The guy that works on guitars does a great job. Anytime I need a repair or need a new guitar setup I take it here.
I have been to the Music Exchange in Kailua the last 2 visits.Got great great service from Gaven..he was patient generous and understood what I was looking for.It was a real priviledge to buy my Koaloha Ukulele from him ..I would reccomend him and the store very highly..as best place in Big Island to buy instruments.Ask him to tell you the story of what happened today I’m sure he will not mind sharing it..mahalo nui loa Gaven
I echo past recommendations. Gavin is very knowledgeable and great for guidance and ideas. I was on a mission for Ukes and also found cool Jimmy Hendrix guitar for my son’s 20th birthday. Gavin accommodated shipping and took care of business professionally and efficiently! Mahalo and Aloha until next time:)
Friendly and knowledgeable service
These guys usually have what I need and their prices are reasonable. Great repair shop as well.
찾기 힘듦
I’ve been here twice. The first time I stood off to the side, but in view of the clerk. I stood there for at least 15 minutes, while 2 different customers were attended to. I wasn’t even spoken to.
The next time I went in to buy some finger picks. I was spoken to, or maybe grunted at, while the attendant restrung an electric guitar.
I’ve had enough.
Service was awful acted like I bothered them by asking questions about ukulele. I will buy somewhere else.
Waited outside patiently for 30 minutes during an employee break. When the employee opened the shop again he told us to leave as soon as we stepped in. Giving no explanation, just saying “goodbye”.
7. Hawaiian ʻUkulele And Guitar
Address: 212 Kamehameha Ave, Hilo, HI 96720 , Honoka‘a , Hawaii , United States
Nice little music store and the owners were very friendly and knowledgeable. Loved their brand of Ukulele. Great clarity and sound and cool logo. I’ll be looking for a baritone Ukulele.
A fantastic selection of guitars and ukuleles at reasonable prices.
While I didn’t buy anything here, the staff are amazingly nice people and let me try any instrument I wanted. As for COVID precautions, you must wear a mask inside and use hand sanitizer before touching any guitar.
With past musical experience and a want to know more, I recently have been wanting to work more with the deeper instruments such as the baritone ukulele and guitar. However, knowing that I didn’t have enough room to pack it, I knew that I would not be buying a guitar in store. Even so, the employees took their time explaining to me the differences and letting me touch the instruments hands-on. If you are ever in town, go here!!! It is a wonderful experience. they have the acoustic and electrical varieties of almost every ukulele and guitar.
This is a nice store with a knowledgeable and fun owner. Because of the prime location expect to pay retail prices. You can find cheaper prices if you shop around. I bought from him because he engaged my son and made it fun.
Unfortunately I can’t give 5 stars because the owner was unavailable to give lessons. He said he’s too busy and looking for a teacher, so things may change. I ended up taking my kids 2 blocks away to Hilo Ukulele and Guitar. Rick there gave the kids low priced lessons and threw some discounts for merchandise.
I guess if that store wasn’t available, I’d give this place a 5 star review. But competition does exist, which is great, so a solid 4 stars from me.
Dylan and Matt are always helpful. Rick, the owner, is also nice. Best array of gear, instruments, cables, pedals, pro audio, drums, and other products.
Awesome owners
Best place on island for drummers
Friendly knowledgeable service, reasonable prices and a good selection!
Visited the store yesterday to buy 2 ukuleles. There were 2 customers ahead of me. Staff spent ample time with those customers and I waited patiently. I appreciated the attention that was given to them and I was looking forward to the same treatment. After 50 minutes (yes, 50 minutes), it was finally my turn. After speaking to me for 5 minutes, he excused himself to talk to the customer who just entered the store. I was dumbfounded. After a couple of minutes, when it was apparent that he did not want to help me, I left. I don’t know what I said or did, but it was clear that he didn’t value my time or wallet. I wasted a lot of time and he lost a sale.
10. Honokaʻa Public House
Address: 45-3490 Mamane St unit g, Honokaa, HI 96727 , Honoka‘a , Hawaii , United States
Super awesome Place to hang out in Honokaa.
The atmosphere is great.
The services excellent.
My favorite dinner is the French dip.
It’s a local hangout spot.
And everybody is super awesome!
Then it’s just a few minutes to Waipio valley.
Nice little bar and restaurant At reasonable prices and good sized Is orchions of food
Nice little pub…GREAT pizza
Friendly staff
Going for pastrami today!
Cheese Bread is a great app. Love the beer on tap.
The food was so, so! I had a cheeseburger and it was okish. A great local bar to enjoy the Honokaa vibe and they have a good selection of drinks too.
Overall a good little place that used to be called the Landing.. Think I liked it better then when it was more authentically Honokaa .. Whatch out for a local scammer named Koa who hits on women & then spreads false information about them. Shame on you, you are a FATHER
waiter Ben was kind and courteous but tater tots shouldn’t take 30 plus minutes lol….I mainly come to listen to Archie Belle, menu leaves a lot to be desired 🙁
Pizza used to be good. Service sucks now. 20 mins and we didn’t even get asked what we wanted to drink.
We used to love getting pizza here. It was the closest to NY pizza we found since we left Queens. Sadly it’s awful now. There’s been a new owner & the pizza is awful, terrible. The first few under the new ownership had uneven crust & globby sauce. The next few had barely any pepperoni. They comped us one when we called in. The owner then had the staff cutting pepperoni slices in half to make it appear as more. Tonight’s pizza just got me super upset. There was hardly any pepperoni, barely any sauce & we nearly gagged on the amount of cheese. Owning a restaurant has got to be mega hard, but serving this for $26 is not cool. I truly hope the owner can get this pizza back to the awesomeness it used to be.
11. Honokaʻa Country Market
Address: 45-3745 Honokaa-Waipio Rd, Honokaa, HI 96727 , Honoka‘a , Hawaii , United States
This little spot caught my eye, and I said “I bet they have good sandwiches” …. and they did. It smells fantastic in there because of all the good stuff they have cooking … soups, sandwiches, etc. etc.
So, we had sandwiches on the comfy little deck during a light rain, and it was a highlight of our day. Sightseeing tips from the friendly person were a bonus.
Highly recommend, would definitely suggest this place for lunch instead of visiting a certain highly prominent drive-through lunch spot a ways up the hill in town! It’s fun to go there, too, but this is a lot more cozy and the food is way better.
Nice little Sunday market. You can hear great music and get some great local produce.
I get all my Dogs food there!
Great service and great selection
日用品色々地元の品物
Really cool little store.
People nice.
12. Bounty Music
Address: 111 Hana Hwy #105, Kahului, HI 96732 , Honoka‘a , Hawaii , United States
As a former employee of Bounty Music, a long time customer, and current friends of several team members, I can say it’s a great place to give my business to. Support local businesses!!
Paul and Tim at Bounty music have been most helpful in assisting our church with a new sound system and speakers. Super knowledgeable and very kind. Thank you Bounty Music. Kaala and I have been customers since we moved to Maui in the early 80s! Happy to support a local business! So glad you are still going strong!
Great variety and awesome service!
Good selection of ukes to choose from with resonable prices.
There is not an empty spot on the wall in here. Some beautiful gibsons
Great selection of ukuleles and guitars. They also have a few keyboards. They had very few mandolin, violins, and other instruments. They had all types of ukulele, for kids, beginners, and high end instruments.
WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER!
Went in to Bounty Music for new Ukelele strings on Christmas Eve. The young man that “assisted” us was incredibly rude! Initially, he was troubled by the fact that there were two wound strings on my ukulele. Then, after not being able to locate the matching set of strings, he stated that he would just “eyeball it”. He became even more rude after the young lady told him to verify by speaking to someone else. He refused. We were so offended, we left. Not enough room to finish my review..
Hey Beware,
I’m sorry but I’ve had a couple of rough experiences at bounty. I wanted to buy an artist series Stratocaster. I explained that I had looked online and was wondering if they could match the price or come close? I was told…
“If you can find it online you should just order it there, it’s easier.” I did explain that I like to support local businesses … but the sales guy was less than interested, and he just ended the conversation by walking away . Boy did I feel naive! I will say that I went online and ordered a nice guitar with free shipping and it was at my door in no time. I’ve since ordered an amp and two more guitars… all online without talking to Bounty. I have to confess that all experiences were “easier” than dealing with Bounty.
I just got off the phone with them and again I can’t believe the attitude. I explained that I was going to ship some guitars to the mainland, and did they have any guitar boxes that they were going to recycle or throw away? If so I would like to reuse them…you know go “green”. I’m not planing to ship for a couple of months.
“no” we don’t have any of those boxes…I was told, but we will sell you a Taylor box for 20$. They hung up on me before I could explain that I can get a bundle of 5 boxes for 8$ (online) with free shipping, so 20$ for 1 box is … well typical Bounty. I’m not really sure what the bad attitude is at Bounty? It is true that you can buy online for quite a bit cheaper than what Bounty offers on almost every single item they carry (this includes shipping costs).
Honestly Bounty seems disinterested and even lazy sometimes. I still go in and look every once in a while, but I don’t feel compelled to spend my money there.
1 star because, really it’s not worth the head ache to drive into town to put up with bad attitude!
I’ll give another star because a couple of the staff members are very nice… so it’s not a total waste of time…
I recommend that you do what I do which is… I just sit at my computer with a hot cup of coffee and shop away.. (go Prime!).
13. Mele Ukulele Wailuku
Address: 1750 W Kaahumanu Ave, Wailuku, HI 96793 , Honoka‘a , Hawaii , United States
I bought a Koa Tenor and a Mango double hole Concert ukelele. I love how both distinct sounds they produce. Hand carried the Tenor back to Chicago and had them ship the concert. Shipment was quick and packaging was good that I received my ukulele in perfect shape.
Mahalo very much Annie Tran, Arlie Asiu (greatest uke teacher ) , Mike and Cheryl Rock(owners) for the hospitality and service.
Knowledgeable help with a great selection of Hawaii-made ukes. Beautiful sounding ukes from the real deal Mele Ukele.
All I can say is WOW!
The entire process of buying my first ukulele was fantastic. From being greeted to walking out it was great customer service. The selection of ukulele is the best Maui had to offer, but I do have to say the staff is top notch. Thanks to Arlie-Avery for giving me an outstanding buying experience! You want a ukulele, come here and they’ll get you the best! Aloha from Texas!
Very nice music store.
Loved hearing Koa test out an awesome tenor ukulele from here.
I was excited to buy a nice ukulele for once. I spent $400 thinking the ukulele I bought would be great. The same day I bought it, without any chance to play, the peg broke. I asked if it could get it fixed by the time my flight left, and they did. When I went to pick it up they made me wait a half hour even though my ukulele was sitting right there. I asked if there was any way I could either get my money back, get a new ukulele, or if they could check to see that none of the other pegs would break. I’m writing this because they responded with oh no you’re peg won’t break again, that’s super rare. But Im back home now and just had a second peg break, different peg from the first one that broke. I am a very kind and patient person but I do not appreciate this kind of service and I hope there is some way they can reconcile for an absurd amount of money paid for a low quality instrument.
14. Nathaniel Rich Strings
Address: 714 Kanoelehua Ave STE 103, Hilo, HI 96720 , Honoka‘a , Hawaii , United States
My wife and I were on vacation in Hawai’i for the past 2 weeks and during our stay on Oahu, I decided I wanted to take home a ukulele as a souvenir (I am a drummer but have been wanting to dabble with stringed instruments), and so we popped into this small store in Honolulu. I just want to say that the customer service here was so incredibly friendly and the person I spoke with was extremely helpful and knowledgeable, which I really appreciated as an out-of-state visitor from Massachusetts with basically no knowledge of how to play ukulele or what would be a good quality one for a beginner. I love the one I took home with me and would highly recommend this store! Mahalo!
Great Music Store! Awesome Owner! Support Local Businesses!
Brandon who works there and the owner are very friendly and help! Awesome place for sure!
I like this small independent music store as the owner is very friendly and his prices are reasonable. Will definitely be shopping there again
Employee was helpful, knowledgeable about music instrument. Park right in front of store
KPSL is amazing. As a musician we have certain musical demands that must be met. Everyone knows that the band is only as good as the soundman running their sound. KPSL (Leka Gravela) delivers all the time, everytime!!! if you’re on the Big Island of Hawai’i. KPSL is your go to for professional sound and lighting.
They guys are amazing. They are easy to work with, from getting quotes to breaking down, the entire process is a breeze when working with these guys. I contracted them for a Movie Night and they really exceeded our expectations. They are much more reasonable than other vendors that offer sound and lighting. Their equipment is high quality and far surpasses that of other sound and lighting companies. They also accept Purchase Orders and are now vendors within the UH College system which goes to show that they are willing to go above and beyond to make your event happen. I would definitely recommend them and plan to use them for future events.
Excellent communication with owner. Excellent sound. Excellent service. Thanks for everything!
17. Music Center of Hawaii Inc
Address: 2347 S Beretania St. #200, Honolulu, HI 96826 , Honoka‘a , Hawaii , United States
I deal exclusively with Music Center when purchasing musical instruments , supplies,. and repairs. Staff is friendly, knowledgable, skilled, and trustworthy….much needed factors in carrying out every-day activities.
Friendly and expert staff to help with all my music needs!
Took my Grandson’s trumpet in to be repaired, they did a great job on the repairs at a very reasonable charge. Repairs were done very timely and without delays. They also have a great selection of sheet music which we picked up for the young trumpet player in our home. This is a great Mom and Pop business that will get more of our business in the future.
Very friendly, very affordable!!
The shop is great. But the entrance is the only funny thing about the shop. Idk how you would get upstairs with a string bass upstairs with any ease. The shop is quite tight as well.
Best place to go very helpful and knowlegeable
I didnt know you can’t be laughed at cause you didn’t have enough cash on you … How low class can you be ….
They don’t buy used instrument
18. Goodguys Music & Sound LLC
Address: 619 Kapahulu Ave, Honolulu, HI 96815 , Honoka‘a , Hawaii , United States
1 of my favorite places to go when I need professional support…
Really helpful and helped my musically inept self find the right strings for my guitar ^^
Friendly local music store
I liked the shop.
Like the name, these are really good guys, love their biz and it shows.
Helpful staff but mostly cheaper instruments.
Bought a pedal there while holidaying in Hawaii, it occurred to me the next day I should buy a good ol’ American pedal, instead of a Chinese pedal, ecspecially while in the states. The staff didnt feel the same, and seemed that it was a big deal to make an exchange. I wouldn’t go back.
Won’t shop in a place requiring a mask. even though I have bought stuff in there back during the time that covid was new and there were no mask mandates. Sad truth is I try to shop small local stores especially for music equipment but I will not be available to shop here anymor.
Lisa has always been amazing . I’ve done piercings with her for years!
Went today with my wife and got another set. She is down down to earth and the only piercer I’ll see
Thanks Lisa
Lots of good stuff, especially those music and instrument related odds and ends that are often searched for.
Always friendly customers just jamming out, and great customer service. The workers usually have a good understanding of the products, and they test out multiple just to show the differences. All over amazing experience, and I just bought my first ukulele there.
Don’t know never been there yet..
Nice product
Excellent
I like this ok
It took three people to find one who knew what I was talking about. Sad.
Commercial…… as poop…… It’s just an emergency place…these coconuts are so off the mark of knowledge.. but the public won’t know…the Players will…… Felt like I was in a walmart, not a music store…..And the lines of BS were pretty funny to listen too…..
