I bought a Yamaha tenor Sax off of ebay that had problems playing low D to low B flat. I took it to a repair shop in Idaho Falls twice but it didn’t help. My brother is a professional musician in Salt Lake, so I took it to his repair person that is very well known. He got it playing better, but D and B were still not right. Then I took it into Donna Howard and she got it playing near perfect with in a half an hour and for a lot less money than the other guys!
They are very helpful, honest, have good prices, and have some very polite cats on the front porch.
I have been using Howard Instrument Service to do all of our instrument repairs, both for customer-owned instruments as well as for our rental pool for almost 2 years now. I have been very pleased with their service. They stand behind their work, and their prices are very competitive. They have most definitely earned my loyalty as the manager of our Rexburg store!
2. Sites Violin Shop
Address: 212 N 4th W, Rigby, ID 83442 , Jefferson County , Idaho , United States
I only got a quote from him, but he is very polite and very clear about his pricing.
I bought my violin from Joe 16 years ago and it’s because of that violin that I fell in love. Life has hit us hard over the last several years and my violin ended up in my closet for a very long time and it needed repairs. I knew I wanted to take it to Joe since he repaired it before I bought it. I will never take my violin anywhere else! Not only does Joe stick to his quote, he understands the sentimental value of an instrument. In addition to that, his craftsmanship is excellent! Take your string instrument to Sites!
Prices can’t be beat! Owners truly care about making sure clients get what they need. BEST ROSIN EVER!
Overpriced for violin bridge that was dipped in varnish. Prices are cheaper online for an actual Aubert bridge. Not very open to bringing your own violin parts to have installed.
Update:
I installed a self adjusting Aubert Mirecourt Violin Bridge myself for the price of $21.99 online from Fiddlershop.com. The cut was exactly as the one you showed me on your bridge. I removed your sound post and will be installing a new one myself. The process is not difficult, but requires some skills that can be learned. I don’t profess to be a luthier, but the quality I get out of doing my own repairs are better than what you have shown me or what I can get here in the local shops. The next best would be to go to Utah for a decent violin repair store.
3. Guitar Guy Llc
Address: 374 N 4450 E, Rigby, ID 83442 , Jefferson County , Idaho , United States
Great customer service. Friendly and knowledgeable.
Great store, fabulous selection of guitars.
Best music store around!
Always fun, a good selection for most things and the staff is always friendly.
Friendly service had what I was looking for
They had amazing set up, music stock, instrument stock, and friendly people. Great place to go for most music needs. Repair for instruments is around the corner, though.
Not thrilled at all with the service of piano, lessons 110.00 a month for a child only, once a week totally outrageous. Piano gallery was way, cheaper and nicer .
If it would allow me to give less than a full star I would have. Will never step foot in this establishment again.
I would never shop at this store, I made the mistake of signing my son up for their rental program which is nothing more than a high interest, high harassment loan scam. These guys are a complete joke. The complete lack of customer service, along with the harassing phone calls, and creepy home visits are enough for me to contact law enforcement. DO NOT give this company your business!
6. Mike’s Music
Address: 2455 N Yellowstone Hwy, Idaho Falls, ID 83401 , Jefferson County , Idaho , United States
The staff was super knowledgeable and helped with all our needs!
Excellent! The best place to buy or sell used equipment.
I love this place! They have really cool affordable equipment, especially for electronic accessories, which are hard to find at other music stores. It’s great for people who are starting off making their own music!
Great service, very knowledgeable staff
ok shop but nofenders or gibsons to name afew midrange to entry level gutairs good shop for first time buyers
Best tacos out the door.
Not anything special
They do have great deals but only work with a few individuals that they approve.
Terrible Customer Service. They wouldn’t even look at me when I was trying to talk to them. The person was looking in a book and was more interested in the book than talking with us. Terrible service. Go to Chesbro!
7. Chesbro Music Company
Address: 257 N 2nd E, Rexburg, ID 83440 , Jefferson County , Idaho , United States
this place is your go to! they have anything you will need for a music or band class and at cheaper prices! i bought my wifes piano here and we had such a great deal! we are going back for a guitar! they are very honest and real. they hit you up with the straight facts so you can narrow down what you want to buy. and the prices are hard to beat!
Took my daughter in to get fitted for a violin. They have a great rent to own program and it was a quick and easy process. The workers were friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Thanks
Always have had good experiences here when buying guitars or accessories.
And the guy with the beard. AWESOME! He’s super nice, full of helpful opinions, and knowledgeable.
Chesbro has an awesome selection and always has what I am looking for. Their guitar and bass selection is great and the prices are very reasonable.
However, sometimes the staff is a little overwhelming. One of the dudes, Drew or something, is a know it all and somewhat condescending as if his opinion is the correct one. He also tries to convince you to buy other stuff you don’t want and it makes you want to just not buy anything.
I went to find a particular cable, but they didn’t have it. They had cables spread around the store, and seemed to have a lot of brands of the same product, rather than a diverse range of cable types.
Changed my review since the management change. I am now the guitar tech at Mike’s Music. The new management is really great and have come sent people to us and we like to refer people to them. Each has their strength and we can help each other. Thanks for the new management. They are doing a great job!
I have heard much about this place and was excited to check it out. Was very disappointed with the prices and materials that they had. I wish Rexburg had a guitar center; so until then I guess I’ll just shop here? Unless anyone knows of other music places I could go to? They’re not better than Mike’s Music.
It smells weird in there
I just don’t understand why the employees are in your face ALL the time. I walk in with my kids to look at instruments and the flipping employee (Andrew I think) won’t leave us alone and let us look around. The dude just tries to sell you stuff you don’t need. Like come on man stop being so pushy and leave us alone. Plus I’ve been doing some comparisons with prices online and Chesbros is overcharging so many of their instruments.
Better train your employees, we aren’t ever coming back here. Do yourself a favor and go to Mikes Music for instruments
8. Mike’s Music
Address: 54 E Main St, Rexburg, ID 83440 , Jefferson County , Idaho , United States
Best place in town for all your music needs, the employees care a lot about the customer. Underneath in the basement there is a recording studio that is very professional and very affordable, they are very knowledgeable, and can help you with all your recording needs.
If you’re looking for guitar lessons this is definitely the best place to go!!! Keith Meenan is the guitar teacher and he is amazing at teaching his students not just how to play the guitar but also understand how music works. While teaching you guitar, he teaches you how to understand the structure and meaning of musical composition. Not too far into my lessons I was able to compose songs and understand why things did or did not work with each song. I didn’t even know that’s something I wanted to do until I started taking lessons from him! He teaches music theory in a way that makes it so easy to learn and apply during the lessons and during your practice at home. Definitely definitely definitely recommend to anyone looking for guitar lessons!
Made a new Friend today! Nice folk’s working there, good Prices, lot’s to chose from and very helpful…….I tried to get a guitar on-line from another place and the order fell apart so I looked for a Store on line and found Mike’s Music!!!! and I am so glade I Did!!!!!
hello, I want to know if u have in stock the audiointerface BEHRINGER U-PHORIA UMC204HD and how much does it cost?
The best local music store in Rexburg! The owner Brandon is a great guy and knows his stuff. Sometimes the employees can be a hit or miss, like the older lady that works there; seems to always have a negative experience with her. Overall the employees are great people, though.
Although the guitar/bass inventory isn’t the biggest, the focus is to sell brands that give you the best bang for your buck and Mike’s does that phenomenally.
I’ve also had my guitars setup a handful of times and haven’t really had any issues there.
they keep switching up the prices i got a ukulele and the first time i went in apparently it was 10$ just to fix the strings then 20 then 25 and then the last one was 30$
My daughter had Keith as a teacher for a couple months. He really got into the theory of music, and taught a lot of stuff. There was a lot of information in each lesson, but it just didn’t suit my daughter. He goes more into writing your own songs, whereas my daughter just wanted to learn a couple songs, rather than write them. So if you want to be writing music, than Keith might be for you, but if not, I would not advise.
Been in here quite a few times and every time the customer service is non-existent. The people who have been working at the various times I’ve come in have been either talking to a friend on the phone instead of helping customers or very stony and clearly didn’t want to talk to anyone. Their manner was almost rude when asked how their day was going.
The store is local and has some good items and a nice music clearance bin up front, but the lack of customer service and overall feeling in the store (it feels like they don’t want you there when you’re inside looking at stuff) will keep me going to the other music stores in the area.
I bought a Behringer UM2 Adio interface here. It was advertised to work on windows computers. I was unable to use the interface due to a driver compatibility issue. When I came to exchange the interface the next day, I was not given a full refund, but $30 in store credit. That means I lost $20 and tax. I was told this was since it was used, but it didn’t work as advertised with my windows pc. I should not be responsible for a manufacturer error.
Two stars since it’s local and somewhat convenient.
9. MusiCare
Address: 391 W Broadway St, Idaho Falls, ID 83402 , Jefferson County , Idaho , United States
The owner is very knowledgeable and experienced. He will definitely take care of your instruments, and you can learn so much. The work is very reasonably priced as well!!
These guys really know what they are doing when it comes to instrument repair
Absolutely phenomenal service. Definitely experts in their field and will treat you as a friend. Great prices and great selection. What more can you ask for?
They had what I needed
Just a little expensive but they had what we needed
The guy that was working there was not very friendly but they got the job done
10. No Limit Guitar Company
Address: 2995 E 17th St, Idaho Falls, ID 83406 , Jefferson County , Idaho , United States
The gentleman here really set my 10-year-old daughter up with an amp for her bass.
Got my son a guitar here. The staff is super helpful and actually know the instruments. Months later we went back in for an amp and they worked a deal with us since we bought our guitar there. Plus they price match anything online. It’s nice to support local when they have quality service like this.
We are very loyal customers to No Limit. Rulon is awesome and always treats us right. We know we get the best bang for our buck when we go to No Limit. Definitely recommend.
Decent place for piano recitals.
I feel like the name on this music store is a little misleading. Should be called “No Limit Piano Co.” … because the electric guitar selection is very limited. Having said that, the acoustic guitar selection is very good and the prices seem to be on par with the national averages for things like Martins, Taylors and even PRS. Lots of pianos and other instruments that are not typically found at a guitar store. Overall, worth a visit. I haven’t bought anything yet but definitely might consider one of the many solid acoustic options.
Formally the Piano Gallery, this place has a very good choice of pianos, stringed instruments, and lots of other stuff. Their selection of upper end guitars and basses is impressive, specifically the Martins and Takaminis that played and sounded really good. And they were set-up pretty nice for good playability.
The store was pretty messy. In addition, both guitar rooms were locked making it difficult to see, touch, or play them (i.e., you have to ask permission). Some music stores do this to minimize scratches/damages from careless/clueless customers. I get that, but minus one star to music stores that uses the ‘lockdown’ method. Still…
Recommended.
Don’t buy anything here! They don’t stand behind what they sell. Rulon is a liar and I have the emails to prove it. Been trying to resolve a problem and he wont get back to me at all…..STEER CLEAR!
I learned piano many years ago when I was young and have wanted to re-learn. Skylar at the Ammon store helped my husband surprise me with this fabulous electronic keyboard. Keyboards have come a long way since I first learned. It has weighted keys that makes it feel like real piano keys. Customer service and options were top notch! Happy to see this option in Ammon for music needs.
Amazing services!!!! I love my new Pearl River upright piano.
As a professional musician, teacher and music academy owner for over 40 years, I am always thrilled to have an establishment like Teton Music to send our students. Whether they are interested in purchasing a top quality piano, violin or guitar or shopping for sheet music, I can be confident they will find exactly what they need. The staff is knowledgeable, accommodating and courteous. I recommend them without hesitation.
Set up a appointment for a piano tuning for 01/27/2023. I waited a month for this appointment. The day finally came and they no called no show and I even call the store to. I waited till next week again to try and contact them and still can’t get ahold of them. I do not recommend this place for piano tuning.
13. Music & Families
Address: 938 W 200 S, Blackfoot, ID 83221 , Jefferson County , Idaho , United States
They repaired an old violin for us and it was top quality work for a very small price. When we had other questions and problems later the staff was always eager to help. Cannot say enough good thing about Fergusons.
Excellent in every way.
Richard, I just wanted to say I ran into the man who directs the orchestra in your summer camp at the Salt Lake Foothill post office. He told me all about what you’re doing and I’m so impressed! I’m your violin teacher back when you were 12, remember?
15. Caleb Wyatt Music
16. Sci Records Management
Address: 1943 International Way, Idaho Falls, ID 83402 , Jefferson County , Idaho , United States
I really enjoy this shop. There is a ton to look at, and the technicians are keen to take care of the little things when I bring in gear for repair. They are quick, and charge reasonable rates. I live an hour of of town, and that makes it tough to pop in, but I won’t go anyplace else. Even if it were more convenient.
They are great to work with. Willing to order anything you need and price match. I like to come here to keep my business local.
Best music store ever! They are Soo nice! Love this store.
Has a lot of good music stuff, but it is kind of crammed into a small store.
Knowledgeable and friendly staff
I love the store. Alot of selections from guitars, basses, banjo’s keyboards, drums , everything! Friendly staff too who are willing to help you out find what you want. I would highly recommend this business.❤️
So it’s a toss-up I mean I went in and bought a brand new piece of equipment and a used piece of equipment the same time so far the turntable turned out to be professional and nice course it was brand new it’s what I would expect from Stanton music. And then there’s the factor of the didn’t work it shouldn’t have been on the shelf so if you’re going to buy for main Street music taking electronics professional in with you or music specialist in with you and make sure that your purchases sound otherwise only buy new.
19. Mike’s Music
Address: 2908 Pole Line Rd, Pocatello, ID 83201 , Jefferson County , Idaho , United States
Friendly and knowledgeable staff. If they don’t have what you are looking for they will help you find it. We have gotten many musical items from this store including a piano, keyboard, sheet music and much more. They also have rental equipment if that is what you are looking for.
Very nice. Fast and friendly. I love the guitar strap I purchased plus it felt great to support a local business.
This is my go to bass store, real close to my house, Great Staff, 4 stars because nothing’s perfect
Has a pretty good selection of just about anything a guitarist might need and a friendly staff.
Very good experience I neededa PA system for a funeral and they provided what I needed at a good price
Very rude people. Extremely over priced. Their used guitars, even the ones in bad shape, are way too much. They take advantage of you not knowing much about how much a guitar or musical instrument is worth, and they rip you off. Please, do not buy from here. I like to support local businesses, but I will not support this one or the owner who I have witnessed multiple times taking advantage of people. Go to any other music store in Pocatello, but please do not support this business.
Went in with my wife, both of us had $$$ to spend. We were never acknowledged, they were to busy ripping some kid off on a banjo. I’ll never shop here again…
Rude from the second we walked in the door. I immediately knew I didn’t want to do business with them.
Leah is an amazing musician as reflected in her website. I highly recommend Leah if you are in the market for a pianist or teacher. She is truly gifted, whether playing for the symphony, Sunday morning worship, or teaching one of her students. Likewise Leah is a natural with good instincts. I have known her to set the tone for a memorial service in the morning and a wedding ceremony in the afternoon. Her piano students not only learn piano, they learn poise and performance with a smile. Music by Leah earns every one of the five stars review!
