He does great guitar work and setups! Great prices for service and some used gear. The best music store in evergreen for sure. Nice guy, helpful, knowledgable, great guitar tech, and they have a decent selection of used and new gear. Worth a stop in! I take all my guitars to him and he does as good or better than anybody in Denver for a better price.
Tons of awesome used CDs and vinyl.
I have purchased a few guitars from here.I love thats it is community owned, the owner works the counter most days, he is a good guy who lives to share his passion of music
Also has a great record selection for sale!

Haven’t been in a while because I live so far away, but I have never found another music store on par with this one. Hopefully once I graduate and start making that career moneh I can come back and visit and maybe get another awesome acoustic guitar.

Address: 8055 W Bowles Ave #2C, Littleton, CO 80123 , Jefferson County , Colorado , United States
Well firstly I play for a living. Which means that it’s sometimes hard, on my budget, to find gear that is going to work on a pro level at a price that I can afford. When I first came here they allowed me to try out a guitar, and then made truss rod and tremelo adjustments in order to make sure that my action, at 1.5mm, would work without fretting out. This is an involved process, haha. They did it. They stand behind their gear, and unlike Guitar Center, everyone here is a player and as a result, an excellent listener. It’s easy to buy a guitar that “I like” but it’s another thing entirely to ask an educated ear which instrument brings out the best in my playing. Great store, great staff, and I’ll likely head there now, lol.
I just recently took my slightly used guitar to this place to sell since I was no longer using it. The experience was fantastic! I originally bought the guitar new with the best intentions of taking lessons and improving my skills to the point where I could play some pop or country songs. It simply didn’t work out for me and the guitar just sat in my closet for a few years. The staff here were friendly and helpful, and offered a fair cash price to buy my guitar outright. They would have increased the amount if I opted for store credit. It was a painless and fair deal overall. They are also very good about requiring an ID and fingerprint at the time of sale. I’d recommend this place!
I find the staff to be very helpful at this store.
UPDATE:
Store owner Jason followed up on his promise to resolve the situation. I stopped by the other day and Jason refunded the purchase in full and made this right. The receipt doesn’t mention needing to have original packaging for returns as Dan originally said, so the return should have been accepted within the 10 days we first returned but because store owner Jason did make this right in the end I am therefore changing my rating from one star to four stars.
Bought a sax mouthpiece for the saxophonist performing for an event I hosted. The mouthpiece was defective and she was unable to perform meaning the trio could not perform either. We took the mouthpiece back the next day and manager Jason would not accept return of the defective mouthpiece even with the receipt in hand claiming it there was nothing wrong even though the saxophonist is a top performer in the area. We would expect better from a nationwide chain.
Great place to look for used gear! They have a decent selection of everything especially if you have kids! and the employees are nice. I’ve sold a few thing here and I’ll say they offer the absolute lowest price they can when you don’t take store credit… If you have something to sell and need the cash quick it’s great otherwise you have to be looking to trade for something in the store for it to be worth it.
Love the store !!Been going there for 15 years. New owner seems to be a straight forward Stand-up guy, they said to smash this guitar my guitar tech made it play beautifully
Just leaving the store now! I was trying to get some more information on a couple different things in the store but despite their not being a lot of people in the store for staff did their best to not make eye contact or help me oh well!
I implore all parents who are considering using this business for their child’s band or orchestra needs to re-consider and look at other options-and YES! there are other options! (this place works overtime to make you think otherwise!) This place will rip you off! I went with Kolancy’s for my 2nd child’s needs-they are more reputable and professional by far, and they actually care what condition their instruments are in when they leave the store!
No Scott, I won’t respond to you, I tried to have things rectified while at your store and you and your employees couldn’t have been any more dismissive or rude, but somehow now you care? Oh, I see, others can read this. Also, my bad experience happened at YOUR store Music go Round, not Music and Arts. I hope others read Joshua Fenner’s review as well since it perfectly captures what other parents and friends
have said they also endured as a customers over the years. I might have to drive farther for instrumental needs but it is well worth it!
I wish this place was cool, but the prices are a little too high, the trade-in value is half of what you’d sell on Craigslist/Facebook, and the staff couldn’t care less. Nice browsing opportunity though.
Edit for owner: thanks for your response, I “understand” now.
Best sheet music collection in the Colorado second only to the Campus Music store up in Greeley. Love this place!
My daughter found a crack in her cello, she’s a senior this year and since she’s been playing since 5th grade we had to change out cellos several times, we’ve had no problems doing so and getting repairs done throughout the years. Working with James the manager this time around and he has been so polite and respectful and I couldn’t be any happier with the outcome! Over the years we have been thankful for the insurance on her cello, they get damaged and music and arts has been accommodating and understanding! Thank you for the years of no stress, and great employees to work with!!
Great folks here. Had my son’s clarinet rented through this place for four years. After I turned it in I was able to use my credits for a sax! Ended up impulse buying a electric guitar at the same time. (Oops lol)
Low guitar selection. Great for beginners, but not top choice for a seasoned player.
They have a bunch of guitar paraphernalia, some keyboard, brass, and clarinet stuff, but nothing for oboe.
This is one of the best music store around the neighborhood. They even sale old music records and they also give lessons.
If only 0 stars was an option. That is what this place deserves. Rented a sax for 3 years, it was stolen at 2 years. We had insurance on it so no big deal. This place did not tell us that they opened up a new account for the new sax which killed our 2 years with of credits.
Today we called to see what we could use our credits on and they told us we could apply it a piano, great that’s what we want. Get to the store and the children working that day says that is not true.
From day one this place gives mixed messages. Don’t waste your money here, everything is overpriced. Buy an instrument outright from somewhere reputable.
Way to take advantage of parents who want to get their kids into music. Shame on you and your business of swindling people.
Products are expensive but cheap quality
It’s gone from good to not-so-good. The selection is small and the staff is non-interested.
6. Golden Music
Address: 10395 W Colfax Ave, Lakewood, CO 80215 , Jefferson County , Colorado , United States
I’m in New Jersey, trying for months to get a guitar shipped to a friend in Golden, CO, and because of COVID, all my shipping attempts have failed. Devon at Golden Music was so helpful when I called to see if he could get a guitar delivered for me locally. He took the time to email all the inventory that was available for me, and made the purchase transaction and delivery of the guitar smooth and easy the very next day. Couldn’t be more pleased with the exceptional customer service we received!
The staff are really helpful and we love their student instrument rental program.
For a while, I had only one kid taking music lessons at Golden Music. My other child wanted lessons too, but we had to wait for another teacher to open up at the same time. Kelsey kept me in mind and let me know as soon as the time i needed was available. She made scheduling easy and convenient and was always very helpful!
Took my brand new tenor sax in for an inspection are the end of May 2020 to make sure everything was in good working order from the factory. They told me it would be about a week. 2 weeks later I called to check the status and was told they had to quarantine all horns before working on them. That makes sense during covid craziness but they shouldn’t have lied to me when I took it in.
Two weeks after that, I called again to check the status. Apparently the day after I called the first time they “cleaned it and checked every key” but when they called to tell me I had the audacity to not answer the phone. They didn’t leave a voice message or ever try to call back. When I told them I was pissed about that they tried to blame it on covid! Because apparently the virus changed the way PHONES WORK!
I had decided that I wasn’t going to leave a bad review because I know how hard it can be as a small business owner myself. Then I tried to play my horn. The spring on one of the palm keys was completely out of place. It’s a 30-second fix but I JUST PAID $100 to avoid this exact problem. So basically I paid $100 to have my factory new sax that didn’t need cleaning cleaned and to have someone claim to check it and miss one of the simplest problems a sax can have. In other words they didn’t do crap, took a month to not do crap, and charged me $100 for crap. Even leaving a voice message was too much effort.
I rarely say “I’ll never be back” to a business because we’re all human and mistakes happen but this was over the top. I honestly don’t think they actually did anything and charged me for it.
On a positive note, their prices for accessories are pretty decent.
Update: After leaving a bad review the store did contact me and offer to make it right. I have to give them credit for that. So I upped my rating based on their willingness to do that.
The quality of their rental instruments is good. However their employees are beyond rude, especially Terry who is probably the rudest most condescending person I have ever spoken with. Additionally the program they have to except payments is inaccurate so while your bank statement reads that your payment has been deducted and sent to them, they call and claim no payment has been made.
I’m renting a violin for my daughter for elementary orchestra with Golden Music. At the rental night they were very helpful, informative and patient. One of the owners sized my daughter to make sure that moving her up from her 3/4 to a full sized violin was the right move and then got us all set up! They also deliver to the school or even your house if you don’t live near their store. I’ll update or add a review as we go since we are just beginning to work with them but a great help and service so far!
I love the staff here – they are lovely- but the quality of the cello I bought from them is terrible. The back keeps popping off of it and they charge me each time to glue it back. I took it to another repair shop to ask for help and they said it was not worth fixing because it was such a poor quality instrument and was garbage. It was $3000. The back popped off again today. I’m really sad I went there. Avoid.
Thank you for the response by the owner and that answer might make sense except that I have another cello and 2 violins and a bunch of other instruments right by the cello in question (which is used daily and we have instrument humidifiers) but nothing else spontaneously pops the back off. It’s cardboard.
The back popped off again this week and cannot be fixed. The endpin is also totally faulty and slips. We had both fixed several times there and at another shop. We paid over 3K for this cello plus another $1000 in repeated repairs and please be aware this is what will happen if you go here. We took good care of it and have it in the same environment as all of our other instruments which are functioning perfectly. I have only had one instrument repaired ever and it’s this cello over and over and over again and now it cannot be fixed.
They have not helped us.
Unfortunately, the service and accuracy of what the employees discussed with me while renting my children’s instruments was not accurate. I had returned my kids instruments within 13 days of renting them with no use and was told no refund of any type would be offered. I argued that that was not what I was told would happen when I rented. The owner was unkind and very rigid. His wife came out and did apologize and did agree to one half refund on one instrument. I kept checking my credit card for the refund which they said would be issued immediately and over a week later I still had to call to get the refund.
The first cello we got was lovely. The staff were kind and helpful. Then we needed to change sizes and the new instrument had a wrong sized bridge. The luthier mansplained why it was correct (I’m a musician trained at Interlochen Arts Academy and Oberlin College so I’m not an amateur) and the C string was still buzzing because the bridge was wrong. I finally gave up and returned the cello April 2nd which was our monthly bill day. I tried April 1 but they were closed for Easter. Because of the holiday I had gotten charged (which is fine) and they promised when I returned the cello that I’d be credited. A week later there was no credit so I called back. I also expressed how disappointed I was and they said they’d have the manager call me. Our teacher also called and they promised her the owner or manager would call me. It’s been almost 2 months with no further contact. Very disappointing. Good service if everything works, terrible if there’s and problem with NO follow up or attempts at rectifying the situation.
I have been a student of James for 7 years, and I couldn’t be happier with what has occurred over the past years. I have learned how to play piano, guitar, ukulele, and many more and it has been a large part of my life.

Fast turnaround. Super nice. Loved seeing all the Gretsch gear. Support local folks like Chris.
Chris was a true pro and offered plenty of post purchase support on a phonograph. Extremely knowledgeable and store has good service. Will definitely be back for more vinyl among other things. What a gem.
Bought a cord from there in December, it broke by April. I’m not the type to ask for refunds, but I did this time. They gave me a full refund towards a better cord. Thanks so much! I understand the perfect reviews now 🙂
Not the best guitar store ever
Nice place. Had what I needed.
Did a good switch repair for me. Took longer than he said he would minus 1 star. His records are spendy but he does good trades for credit. I will be back for sure.
Chris is a nice enough guy but I don’t feel like I got what I paid for. I had a suspicion my frets weren’t level due to buzzing so I brought it to him and he did a set up on it. Just a basic setup was quite expensive. I brought it home and it still had buzz. When I took it back to him he said it needed new strings. I was amazed he didn’t notice that during the set up. It just seems he didn’t really take his time with me as a customer and so I will not be going back here. I brought my guitar to a different shop and the tech confirmed my suspicions that there were frets that weren’t level and the neck wasn’t completely straight. Just all around disappointed with the work that was done on my guitar especially at the price I paid.
My guitar sat for 2 weeks without repair (wiring, nothing nuts), no call, no eta… Finally went and picked it up… Nothing done. Complete waste of time.
I dropped this off late October to change a nut on my Fender. I included the parts. I’ve been reaching out, over and over; Communications far and few between. Btw, I was told it would be ‘a couple weeks.’ I’ve shared an excerpt do of our texts to illustrate my point.
12. Drum City-Guitar Land
Address: 9225 W 44th Ave, Wheat Ridge, CO 80033 , Jefferson County , Colorado , United States
This place is a great little independent rock band type instrument store. They aren’t as big as a Guitar Center, but they a packed with guitars. They have a lot different guitars than I am used to seeing. They have a lot of nice stuff, but they carry lower-end acoustic guitars because of the extreme dryness in Denver. They carry a lot of Schecter brand guitars. The staff and owner are really nice and helpful, and they have a really good guitar tech there. They have a great website so you can check out their inventory and even buy stuff from them online. I rebooked checking it out.
Best music shop in Colorado hands down. Great selection and awesome customer service.
Favorite guitar place
The best
Cool selection.
Do not expect them to be courteous or helpful over the phone
Bought a Schecter Tempest custom which was “supposed” to come with American made Seymour Duncan pickups. After I purchased the guitar they emailed me saying there was an “issue” with my pickups, and that they needed to be replaced. Yeah; they replaced them alright…with Duncan Disigned pickups…..scumbags.
Have and never will do business with again! BUYER BEWARE!!!!
I’m a beginner so I went in looking for the ibanez bass guitar starter pack. Everything went smoothly (other than when I asked them for any begginers advice they have and was ignored twice) and I was happy until I got home and pulled it out of the box to start playing. That’s when I realized the bass to amp cable was missing. So I called them and they got me a new after I had to drive back to the store. Got home again, hooked up the bass to the amp, then realized I needed to tune it. The electronic tuner it was supposed to come with was missing. I decided I need to take a full inventory. I didn’t think this was necessary because of this stores great reputation. It was also missing the shoulder strap. I had to drive back one more to return the item. Upon returning, they blamed the manufacturer and never offered anything to make up for the lost time, gas money, and frustration I experienced. I decided not to leave this review as I continued my search for my first bass set up. I found a nice bass but now i needed an amp. So after a week, I called them to give them another chance (on black friday) and asked them if there was any deal they can give me since they already gave me the run around once and if I drive all the way to 44th I want it to be worth it. The response was that his cheapest amps start at $100. I am now deciding to leave this review in hopes of 1. Improving their customer service 2. Making a begginers buyer beware as i felt like I was treated poorly compared to the other customers who weren’t begginers. Their reviews say friendly but I felt no friendliness during my whole experience 3. If u purchase from here, check that they don’t rip u off by making a full inventory before leaving the premises.
I purchased a guitar from this company for my husband, it was a 7 string Schecter Omen which was something he had been wanting for quite some time so I purchased it as a surprise gift for him. He used the guitar once and the next time he went to play it wasn’t working. We took it to a company that fixes guitars and they informed us that it was a used guitar.. I paid full price for a guitar that was not only USED but BROKE immediately after purchase!! If you’re in the market for a guitar I highly suggest that you search elsewhere. Drum City is not a reliable place to purchase from
13. Flesher Hinton Music
Address: 5890 W 44th Ave, Wheat Ridge, CO 80212 , Jefferson County , Colorado , United States
I have had excellent service for some years. I got a free sticker for a new instrument case. They have also repaired my clarinet plenty of times. These repairs have lasted for years.
Went into the store looking for piano sheet music. Found some I liked, but not the one piece I went there for. The manager (?) found what I was looking for on a digital site and was able to print it out for me. Great service.
Wow!
The people employees are professional, knowledgeable, and ready to help!
As with any store like this, you can expect them to be salesmen, though they don’t push too hard and don’t avoid helping you find the lowest priced items.
The technicians are great, but I wish they had a bit more enthusiasm.
If you are testing out brass instruments or such, the practice room they put me in had too much reverb to get accurate samples, even with a recording device. I have yet to ask if they had a more acoustically dry room.
They can order sheet music and products, and have all the basics and many accessories for band musicians.
Like always the services people were just great.
There’s parking at the new location. Really reasonably priced supplies. Not the best selection for buying instruments though. Since their relocation, seems they’re putting more emphasis on instrument repair. Still probably the best music supply shop in the area
Went in to check out acoustic guitars earlier today. Got an important call as I was about to tune a guitar I was checking out and the guy behind the counter just starts blowing into some sort of wind instrument seemingly deliberately because taking a quick phone call. So I hung up the guitar and just walked out.
But the guy who welcomed me when I walked in seemed nice.
Just terrible experience! Purchased a new wood clarinet 5 months ago. Found out it was cracking, unfortunately happens if not taken care of, but not in the first 5 months.
Took 2+ months to fix, when we finally picked it up, some old guy in the store started telling my 16 year old daughter about keeping it greased every six months- lecturing her because it was so dried out! Finally stepped in and told him…we bought it here less than 5 months ago…in other words, you sold an old dried out clarinet for $2000.00. Will never ever step foot in this store again d/t the service dept.
14. Rockley Music Center
Address: 4880 N Robb St #1, Wheat Ridge, CO 80033 , Jefferson County , Colorado , United States
We bought a “complementary piano tuning” at the silent auction for Jefferson Symphony Orchestra. We received a tuner, who tuned our Wurlitzer console, incredibly, by using only a 440 tuning fork–and his own good technique and hearing. Since it needed to come up, he did a general tune of the whole thing and then went back through to finish up.
Since I’d not had it tuned before, I had no idea it could sound so good! Being a string musician, I could tell it was in tune when the vibrations became clear on a particular note. That is when he would stop.
I was so glad he didn’t use a machine to artificially arrange the tones across the spectrum by dividing out from one pitch at the top to one at the bottom, as someone had done for us previously!
Service is HORRIBLE!! I have been there several times and each time the employees are extremely rude. I suport local business but I’d rather go to Guitar Center than this place.
I actually am not the biggest music fan but they have so many movies! I go in there to buy all the seasons of my favorite shows. The movies are a great price also! I got season one of Greys Anatomy for $2.99!!! The workers on the sales floor keep to themselves, but the cashiers are always funny! There is also a parking garage next store that Rockley Music Center validates!
Chris was very helpful when I was having issues with my piano. He promptly got a technician out to my house. At first he did not discover the real issue with the piano, so it took some prompting on my part to get the technician to return and take a closer look at the piano. (This is the reason why I gave this review only four out of five stars) But after the technician came out again and took a closer look, he discovered the soundboard issue and Chris promptly ordered me a replacement piano. He also made sure to look it over himself personally to see to it that I was getting a very good replacement, better than my original piano. After it has been tuned, the piano is sounding beautiful and I am very appreciative to Chris for all of his extra effort in making me a happy musician once again. Thank you Chris and Rockleys.
What has been a wonderful neighborhood store has failed to change with the times. It is sad for me to see. What once was an enthusiastic staff, happy to great you and offer assistance have become sullen and inattentive. I have heard staff and even management blame it on the internet and Guitar Center. Guitar Center didn’t lure me in. Rockley Music Drove me there.
In this review,I am only referring to the guitar department.
No matter what extension you press, nobody answers the phone. Some extensions even say “Your call can not be transferred. Please try again later.”
For all I know they have great instruments at great prices. But they refuse to answer the phone so I’ll never know.
Stopped in to look at pianos. The sales person made this an extremely uncomfortable experience. How do they expect to sell a piano when they don’t even like to let customers play them? It’s a big purchase, and something you have to try and compare before buying. The sales person kept hovering and telling me prices, implying I couldn’t afford them, and even started obnoxiously banging out a tune to drown me out because he didn’t like me playing a pricy model. (I’m not a pro, but I don’t suck, Hehe) It’s sad there are so few piano stores left, but unless this one treats potential customers better, it won’t be missed.
Also checked out string prices for my violin. Don’t bother. Try somewhere else or online.
15. Flipside Music
Address: 2231 S Platte River Dr, Denver, CO 80223 , Jefferson County , Colorado , United States
If you’re a guitar player you have to support this place! For a major metro area Denver seems to have a surprising lack of legit guitar shops (probably thanks to guitar center). Anyway these guys are as knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful as it gets. If you don’t see what you need online or in store they can probably get it for you. Don’t resort to GC which only gives you inventory and their return policy in exchange for incompetent and unfriendly staff (assuming they even talk to you). Please support Flipside Music!
These guys are great! They were extremely helpful to this beginning guitar player. They are a little hard to find but worth it!
Flipside Music is an absolute winner! These guys are always kind and understand how to help customers achieve their goals. It is a relief to have such a wonder shop were you feel like family.
Thank you Ike and the team!
First Visit. Nice small shop, great pedal selection and some nice guitar brands (Reverend, G&L among others). Really friendly folks.
This store is one of Denver’s hidden gems! I walked in looking for a bass pre-amp… These guys blew me away with their knowledge and friendlyness. They definitely know their stuff. I’d recommend flip side to any bassist or guitarist for any needs except repairs( I don’t know if they do repairs, I didn’t ask, as I already have a guy for that…).
Very knowledgeable staff and unique instruments
Overly expensive and also lots of homeless people hanging outside on the street near by. It’s a dump.

best place to find new and used 4,6,12,8 stringed acoustic and electric guitars and have great LUTHIERS to fix your used and abused Axes…
I love this place!!
Great instruments and service!!!
Great place
This is the only guitar shop in town that carries my Elixer light medium strings. I always seem to learn something when I go in there.
The shop is beautiful!
I don’t know anything about picking parlor but I must say Olde Town has potential to be great. But…. they tear down way to many old interesting buildings that should be preserved and keep the Olde Town real. And I have to rate downtown a 3 with all the cigarette butts that are littered throughout the entire town! It is DISGUSTING!!!
They refuse to answer inquiries
Owner “Kit” treated me with contempt. No place for kind folks.
I attempted to get my daughters violin finger positions taped prior to her concert tomorrow and the tech person on staff was not able to help but did suggest a couple other shops.
18. Melody Music Studios (Music Lessons In-Home or Studio)
We signed up for piano lessons in our home with Stacie over a month ago and our boys are extremely happy with it. Stacie is knowledgeable and patient with two young learners and her experience is exactly what we read on Melody Music Studio’s bio. The process for signing up was easy and they are very responsive.
My kids have been taking piano lessons outside the home for a few years now, but in the last few months have started having lessons with Heidi within our home. They have improved dramatically and we are very thankful to find such a great teacher with affordable pricing. Thank you!
I’ve never purchased a piano here but I’ve had several questions answered from the owner. He was also able to provide excellent recommendations for piano moving companies as well as a piano tuner and helped me locate new castor cups for my baby grand.
I bought a piano for my husband for his birthday at Pianos n’ Pianos. The entire staff was incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. My requests were accommodated and we completed the transaction very quickly. The piano was delivered with a huge red bow on it!
We purchased a piano for our 8 year old to continue lessons. She was ready to move from a keyboard to a real piano. The folks at Pianos and Pianos were great, from showing me all my options to helping me get the piano delivered one week before Christmas. We just had the initial free piano tuning done and Joan was wonderful. This has been a great experience for us!
Bought a piano and had issues shortly after. They sent a tech to my house to assess the situation, but never got back to me. Ended up having to fix it by paying out of pocket.
