Owner is a straight up cool mofo. Super nice guy that will help you out and not try to oversell something you don’t need.
Great experience, at least for an absolute beginner who wanted to buy a uke. I received excellent help selecting an appropriate uke for my situation — not too cheap, but not too expensive in case I never use it — and walked off with an Islander tenor, a tuner, and a carrying case. Very happy. Then COVID-19 struck, and voila, plenty of time to practice. So far I haven’t gotten good enough to play to humans, but my dogs like the show, and I get better every week. I recommend this friendly shop.
Very reasonably priced and quality ukuleles. The owner is a wonderful gentleman who gave my wife a lot of tips and good information. One of my favorite experiences of the entire trip.
Worst customer service ever. The man working there couldn’t even bring his head up off his iPad to acknowledge our presence. Too bad too because I was ready to buy a ukulele.

Avi is awesome – he will always take care of you, in your best interest, as he is an amazing musician himself, so anything to do with guitars, electronics, etc – he’s the man…!
Avi did a modification on my guitar that took about 45 min, for my previous luthier it would have been 2 weeks.
Amazingly personal service.
A great place to get a custom guitar. The guy is really passionate and just loves music.
terrible service kicked me out when was trying out a guitar i was going to buy
I was home visiting Maui for a few weeks and was walking through Lahaina Center. Then I heard some ukulele chords being played. I followed my ears and saw some beautiful instruments in the wall through an open door. I walked in and heard Reuben sharing knowledge and teaching a little boy some chords and giving him encouragement to keep practicing. It reminded me so of when I was a keiki and mom was teaching me ukulele and we would play together and sing every Friday night. Long story short- I ended up buying an awesome Amahi travel ukulele from Reuben. His aloha spirit and positive energy are infectious and he cares about what he does and it shows. So keep up the good work Uncle Reuben- I appreciate you and what you do.
Two of the greatest gifts I have ever given my wife!
1. A ukulele
2. Lessons from Reuben at Maui Music Mission!
It has enhanced and changed both of our lives! We have magic moments of our time on Maui and the joy of music that fills our hearts and souls with ALOHA!! The amount of pride that we share is incredible!!
Many mahalos!!
Maui Music Mission is positively impacting the lives of children, youth and adults! Ruben Pali and his team of professional musicians are leading the way towards raising the consciousness both in life-skills and musical expression for the youth involved in the after school program. As an adult student, I am learning to express myself musically and am privileged to witness the joy, dedication and professionalism of Maui Music Mission. I highly encourage you to join their program and experience this opportunity for yourself!
9. Bounty Music
Address: 111 Hana Hwy #105, Kahului, HI 96732 , Kā‘anapali , Hawaii , United States
I went to the MAUI MUSIC STORE and today was my first purchase in this Store! Absolutely 100% service and friendly service! I got my first Hawaiian print baby soprano ukulele carrier and tuner!!! It’s located in Kahului Maui♥️♥️♥️
I went into Bounty Music needing something I have no knowledge of. I was immediately greeted and assisted by Tim. He answered all my questions and didn’t hesitate to go the extra mile. I was out of there quickly like I wanted to as I’m always busy on my one day off a week. Mahalo nui!!!
Love it!
Good selection of ukes to choose from with resonable prices.
Bounty Music. They have been around for ages. One of the surviving mom and pop style shops catering to present and future entertainers and musicians. But, they cater to the professional musicians and entertainers as well. The staff are down to earth musicians so they understand the particulars of making a living and can understand what it takes to make a career or a side hustle and even as a hobbyist. They are here to help you with your musical needs. As a professional musician myself, I would like to thank Paul and his staff, personally, for all they contribute to the entertainment and musical industry on Maui. A Hui Ho !!
Always the best prices, the only prices LOL, LOL, LOL,
Went in to Bounty Music for new Ukelele strings on Christmas Eve. The young man that “assisted” us was incredibly rude! Initially, he was troubled by the fact that there were two wound strings on my ukulele. Then, after not being able to locate the matching set of strings, he stated that he would just “eyeball it”. He became even more rude after the young lady told him to verify by speaking to someone else. He refused. We were so offended, we left. Not enough room to finish my review..
Hey Beware,
I’m sorry but I’ve had a couple of rough experiences at bounty. I wanted to buy an artist series Stratocaster. I explained that I had looked online and was wondering if they could match the price or come close? I was told…
“If you can find it online you should just order it there, it’s easier.” I did explain that I like to support local businesses … but the sales guy was less than interested, and he just ended the conversation by walking away . Boy did I feel naive! I will say that I went online and ordered a nice guitar with free shipping and it was at my door in no time. I’ve since ordered an amp and two more guitars… all online without talking to Bounty. I have to confess that all experiences were “easier” than dealing with Bounty.
I just got off the phone with them and again I can’t believe the attitude. I explained that I was going to ship some guitars to the mainland, and did they have any guitar boxes that they were going to recycle or throw away? If so I would like to reuse them…you know go “green”. I’m not planing to ship for a couple of months.
“no” we don’t have any of those boxes…I was told, but we will sell you a Taylor box for 20$. They hung up on me before I could explain that I can get a bundle of 5 boxes for 8$ (online) with free shipping, so 20$ for 1 box is … well typical Bounty. I’m not really sure what the bad attitude is at Bounty? It is true that you can buy online for quite a bit cheaper than what Bounty offers on almost every single item they carry (this includes shipping costs).
Honestly Bounty seems disinterested and even lazy sometimes. I still go in and look every once in a while, but I don’t feel compelled to spend my money there.
1 star because, really it’s not worth the head ache to drive into town to put up with bad attitude!
I’ll give another star because a couple of the staff members are very nice… so it’s not a total waste of time…
I recommend that you do what I do which is… I just sit at my computer with a hot cup of coffee and shop away.. (go Prime!).
Horrible service, incompetent tech can never repair instruments never demonstrate a true sincere desire to help toxic place not a true music store what a shame!! don’t go there!
10. Island Vintage Coffee
Address: 2435 Kaanapali Pkwy L5, Lahaina, HI 96761 , Kā‘anapali , Hawaii , United States
We ate lunch at the wine bar. LOVED the charcuterie board with cheese, meat, fruits, and other goodies. Excellent wine selection. The service was spot on.
Great coffee drinks and speedy service
Great spot for coffee and delicious breakfast at a reasonable price! I highly recommend the acai bowls, the honey latte and the vegetarian open-faced sandwich.
Loved the ambience and Lava Mocha
Hubby and I had gone for a morning walk our first Sunday there and stopped at Whaler Village on the way back. We were getting hungry and decided that brunch called for a little spot like this. We shared the breakfast platter and got it to-go. I loved that the greens had pistachios mixed in and I loved the breakfast sausage. Sharing this platter was perfect for a little pick-me-up.
The line here moves fast and the food doesn’t take too long to come out. But while you’re waiting, there’s plenty of fun stuff to explore on their shelves. It all looked to be locally made. I particularly enjoyed the shelf with hand creams that felt and smelled amazing!
Very good coffee and acai bowls, cramped area and ridiculous covid-19 restrictions, the restrictions are the fault of the tyrannical state of Hawaii however. I sensed a bit of rudeness towards customers and by 7am they were already out of croissants. Also 1lb of coffee was price gouged at $78/lb. THIS IS INSANE! Especially when the coffee is grown locally. Ditch the covid-19 restrictions and have a better attitude towards customers and they would get a 5 star.
Açaí bowl was soupy and not frozen. Pretty disappointing
Line to the door when we arrived. Took about 30 min to place and receive our order.
Had to wait 45 minutes for 2 coffees and 2 bagel sandwiches after ordering at 7:45 in the morning. Doesn’t really seem to be any rhyme or reason to the order that things are filled in. Will not be returning. Make sure you order super far in advance if you want to get something here! Bagels were weirdly hard and difficult to chew.
Non-US cards not working for online orders, long wait ~ 1 hour, take-out order placed in a plate (!), food was not bad but after all this trouble not an enjoyable experience.
11. Living Sounds Audio

My Kanile’a KPA is fabulous! Exactly what I wanted! It looks beautiful, sounds beautiful, and plays beautifully!!!
The transaction was effortless, and it arrived promptly ready for playing!
Thanks so much!!
Kia Ora, Paul was really helpful and gave me options to when I was choosing my ukulele. Even this crazy pandemic didn’t stop him getting my new uke to me in NZ. I’m rapt with my new uke and will recommend this company to others. When …….. international travel resumes I’m still going to Hawaii and will catch up with these guys in person. Cheers Catherine
Excellent experience purchasing a Ko’aloha uke from Ukes.com. Received immediate feedback and answers to all of my questions from the staff. Delivery was supah quick. Would definitely recommend Ukes.com
13. West Maui Gold & Loan
Address: 1000 Limahana Pl Suite K, Lahaina, HI 96761 , Kā‘anapali , Hawaii , United States
It’s a pawn shop obviously it isn’t an upscale, bow down to your every need type place and it shouldn’t be its a pawn shop!!!!!! Everything from a nazi youth knife to a taxidermy cat to a modern canon lens(sorry I already bought that) !! Really had a cool vibe and super nice staff and if this is a scary place too you or a shady area too you, you clearly have never been to the main land or been to a real bad neighborhood and you most likely shouldn’t go to any pawn shop.
The Team at West Maui Gold and Loan professional courteous and kind. The have an amazing selection of Phones, Tablets, Notebooks, Laptops Cameras, and soo much more. And that’s not even mentioning the Jewelry. Each department has its own Certified Professional Tech. The sales super friendly, and knowledgeable about the inventory and pricing. Also they are extremely patient because the3y even put up with me. Love this place,,,, Christopher Shops here and I thought I saw Maui Phone Boss.
I’m the one who discovered this place when I was working on a cruise ship I’m from Philippines I started to invited all crew members to visit this place love this place specially people who can’t afford to buy a brand new stuff. Hope Mr.Dan will remember me it became famous all those years specially those guy from the cruise ship.
Went in and did not know what to expect. They treated me well and I was happy with the deal. I may even go back and buy some things in there.
The boss wasn’t there and I need a loan asap.
Overpriced, dirty, sleazy owner who gets mean when you don’t buy his stock. Thoroughly unpleasant.
