Great local music store. Pretty good selection for just anything you would need at decent prices!
My lucky day. Walked in off the street to a smile and a “can I help you.” Received good service, new strings. Nice conversation too.
Jimmy’s music was very nice store however seemed understaffed.
Good local music, guitar store
Cute store pack with tons of things.
They did not have what we were looking for.
Had my mind set on buying a new piano keyboard and supporting this local music store in Durango and to know that the workers (maybe even the owners) don’t know how to treat their customers is very disappointing. When I walked in I wasn’t greeted, even after a few minutes I wasnt asked how I was doing or IF I NEEDED HELP FINDING ANYTHING. I know what you’re thinking “maybe he was busy” nooooo! Because there was another worker there and no one else was in the store. I wasn’t addressed or anything until I was about to leave. I know I’m an adult and maybe I should have just asked him myself but if I’m gonna spend a few hundred dollars at your store then I’d expect to be treated like it let alone be WELCOMED INTO THE STORE! But my question is why? Did I not looked like a serious buyer? Was it cause I was wearing a mask? Or was it cause I was brown? My questions are valid and justified through the actions of the workers. Sad to know that people are treated differently for whatever reason. Such a bad impression on the community and very disappointing experience.

Dave is a beast when it comes to making a guitar… Music is his passion
Dave set the intonation on my new Guild, as well as, totally revived my pre 63 Gibson E-125. He repaired some binding, and gave her a new finish. Great Guy to work with. I highly recommend him.
Dave does awsome work and when he says the day your instrument will be ready it will be done . I recently had him do some electrical work on a bass, installing new pots and high dollar pickups. He did a fantastic job and knows his craft. He’s the only Luthier I will ever go to. So much better and reasonably priced than others in the 4 Corners area; plus his word is his bond. Great Guy all around
I thank god for my few friends!!
Not trust worthy, I took a violin. You chipped it, it was not tuned and stings are slipping. And please do not contact me thru Facebook. The instrument was brand new had no chips. No it was not high quality although is worth more than you claim it to be. You did not deliver quality work, I will not be going back to you. Have a splendid day sir.

Bruce has worked on 4 of my guitars, 2 acoustic (Martin and Taylor) and 2 electric (Gibson SG from 1966 and a Peavey from 1983). He’s done fine work on all of them. I still have a 12-string that I need to bring in to him. Love his work, good guy too.
Perfect set up on my banjo and mandolin! And a nice guy to visit with when you drop off/pickup your instruments.
First off, let me say that Bruce is unbelievably knowledgeable, passionate, and dedicated to pleasing his customers.
The quality of craftsmanship is unparalleled to anyone I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with. His shop is meticulously maintained, and well equipped to tackle any project you may have.
I cannot sing his praises enough. If you are looking for an experienced, friendly, and intelligent individual to work on your stringed instrument, look no further, Mr. Bruce Allsopp is your guy.
I brought John a hundred year old Bruno parlor guitar that had not been
played in 20 years. He built a new bridge, repaired a few cracks, etc. It
is WONDERFUL!! Absolute joy to play! Thanks john.
John is a magician – he builds the best acoustic guitars and also repairs and restores guitars with quality and integrity
Knowledgeable and very helpful
I had a crack that I didn’t think was there when I dropped it off. John disagreed and said it was, but took care of it nonetheless.

I’ve been working with Dave Farmer for a little over a year, now. Dave is one of the nicest people I’ve met in Durango and is by far the best craftsman and luthiers I have ever met. You can absolutely trust him with your prized instruments. I have been working on guitars for 18 years and have seen every type of luthier there is, and have seen every level of craftsmanship. He’s the best there is! There are other people in town who claim to be “luthiers” DO NOT trust these people with your instruments. We have seen horrendous attempts at repairs by them and Dave has miraculously saved them. Do yourself a favor and take it to Turtle Lake Instruments the first time.
Thanks for always helping to get my guitar gig ready!! Seriously appreciated.
New to the spot. Scooter is a serious pro. Berkley grad and very professional. The sound quality speaks for itself.
Scooter’s Place has great equipment, a fantastic space and a very easy to work with and knowledgable sound technician is Scott “Scooter”. I recommend it to anyone in the Durango area looking to make a professional album.

Pete came highly recommended to our family by a local musician and has exceeded all expectations as the primary guitar teacher for our son. During the time our son has been taking lessons with Pete his knowledge and understanding of the guitar has grown dramatically. He also truly enjoys his lesson time and Pete’s personality is perfectly suited for the job. Thanks Pete!
Pete is an awesome teacher. Very patient and easy to understand.
He is a very talented musician and has a knack for sharing that with his students. I look forward to picking up where we left off someday.
Pete is a rare kind of instructor; He teaches all ages and levels, he is experienced as a singer, songwriter and professional performer, both solo and with groups. He can rapidly decode a song from a recording or youtube video and then transpose it for the student’s immediate use. His personal repertory is massive.
As teacher he is very tuned in to his students needs and learning styles, and he can play most styles/types of music. He reads music fluently and can teach theory, but does not require it in his students. He will tweek his teaching technique to help us along.
I have enjoyed my lessons, and learned immensely from Pete.

This record store has two things going for it. It has great selection and customer service. My wife purchased a vinyl we already own in July and the shop owner exchanged it for its value in September. On selection, I walked out with a Jimmy Smith and a Black Mike vinyl. I have been to vinyl shops all over the world and this is one of my favorites.
This place is amazing. Grab a homemade pop tart and browse vinyl records. Nothing better
Best poptart, ever and world wide

Hello everyone my name is Raz Sisneros. I have been a musician for about 18 years. This may be a lengthy review but it is worth reading, I promise. At the time ov writing this I want to say I’ve known and been working with Anthony for about 6 or 7 years and it has been nothing short ov Spectacular! I live about an hour away and get to visit with Anthony at his shop at least a dozen times per year. Anthony over the years has done countless repairs and setups on my many guitars that have come and gone. He always would go the extra mile to make sure I was completely satisfied with all aspects of any work that was done. In the few instances I had any issues, he would go out ov his way to fix them as soon as possible. I’ve actually had the privilege ov playing 2 guitars made by Anthony and did the sound samples for his website, be sure to check those out. First was the Allessandra guitar, the other was the six string with the Fishman fluence pickups that should be getting audio very soon. Both ov these instruments were hands down the Best guitars I have ever played. Ask Anthony, I have had a ton of different guitars over the years. The craftsmanship that goes into these instruments is on a completely different level than what I have seen with almost every other luthier I have researched over the years. I have witnessed first hand how much time, effort, and passion goes into each instrument and it truly shows down to the smallest ov details. I recently placed an order with Anthony for a custom guitar that I have been planning for at least a decade. Anthony has helped me refine my plans and taught me so much and never looked down on me for my ignorance. He did everything possible to help me in my plans and has inspired me to be a better musician and person. Anthony has become a dear friend over the years and is more than a household name. Anybody who knows me as a musician knows about Xylem and how important he is to me. Ultimately, if you need the best custom guitar you’ll ever have in you’re life, Xylem Guitars is for you! My custom should be started in the near future so be sure to watch for it and the review under the project name “Zann”.
I brought a guitar and a ukulele for repair. Anthony was extremely responsive, worked very quickly, and even took the time to educate me about how to replace the strings (weird on my guitar). 5 stars, definitely bringing any other repairs to him.
I don’t trust anyone with my guitars except Anthony. He is honest, meticulous, and detail oriented. Anthony does great repair, set up, and wiring work. He is also an awesome custom bass and guitar builder. His pricing is more than fair and I cannot recommend Anthony at Xylem Basses and Guitars enough.
Very poor communicator and sub par builder. Instrument electronics failed. Expects some sort of payment for repairs and setups, due to lack of attention to his builds. Not another luthier on the planet that would expect this. Instrument build was not what was ordered and all in all a horrible experience. There are far better builders to get your needs done in a much more professional way especially for what he is charging. Not worth the money. Very unprofessional. In response, never was there such agreement and response from builder is fabricated. Builder became agressive and angry (on christmas day, while I was with family no less) because he refused to meet me to exchange guitar in which he was going to “work on”, then questioned the guitars state) Go elsewhere for your needs. I stand by my review. Builder simply was angry that I was unhappy with the guitar hence me selling it. Builder then blocked me on Social media simply because he was upset and refused to meet me half way for exchange. Again, Childish and not professional at all. I would NEVER buy this guitar back nor did I say such a thing. Just a unprofessional business all in all.
Very talented singer and kept a fun/engaging atmosphere the entire show. Enjoyed his music and covers of famous songs. When I go back to the Colorado/New Mexico area, I’ll be sure go to another show again!
