Very nice place lots of items to choose from. Friendly staff and very helpful. Prices are ok some are a bit more than other stores of same nature. Clean and good feeling while shopping there.
3 outa 5 could have been all 5 but it”s a bummer not to be able to take shopping cart out…..
I like this store
Very nice workers
Fast, convenient!!
One of the most nastiest stores I ever been to in my life! Don’t shop there ever! Run!!
Don’t like them
I only checked one star for one of the employees at this store, if I could give none I would! Her name is Priscilla and gives me a hard time every time I go in, no matter what I’m buying. This week the gain fabric softener is on sale buy 2 get 1 free. So I bought 3 and handed her two coupons for the others I’m buying. She wouldn’t take my coupons because she said there was a digital coupon for them and I told her no one is free when you buy two. The digital coupon that came off was for something else I was buying that she already scanned. She didn’t believe me and left to go look for the sale sign on the shelf even though there was at least five others in line. She came back and didn’t find it and started looking through the ad, she still didn’t find it. So she gave up and scanned one of my coupons and said the total. I told her I gave her two coupons what about the other? She said it says limit one coupon. I told her to just give me my coupons back and that I don’t understand why she always gives me a hard time and no one else in the store does????? It’s simple math!!!! I was buying two and getting one free and using two coupons that say limit 2 not 1!!! She embarrassed me in front of all the other customers for no reason. I shop at this store at least once weekly if not twice and get a whole basket, sometimes two baskets full of things. Normally when I see her at the check stand when I walk in I turn back around right out the door and wait for another day to go. Every other employee is very nice and helpful every time I go.
I had a fantastic experience working with the Guitar-Guy in Palmdale, Ca. He was very responsive to my emails/messages. He adjusted my guitar within a day’s time and even walked me through the process. More importantly, the guitar came out crisp and ready to play. I highly recommend his services!
Great guy, really knows his stuff ! Made my guitar sound way better then the way I bought it , highly recommend this gentleman if you need a repair or anything else that has to do with guitars . Also sells furniture and got me a killer deal on a new tempur-pedic mattress . Thanks Pete

This place is awesome! Go to Greg for your guitar work needs (from re-stringing to major issues)! My pal also brings his bass to Greg when it needs some love.
Great store with tons of vintage gear. I’ve purchased several guitars, keyboards and amps here and am very satisfied. They also repaired my 30 year-old MS-20! As for the complaints about “nothing being plugged in” and they won’t let you test anything before buying, that’s bullsh¡t. You just need to ask.
Future Music is the kind of shop I would like to just hang-out at all day. It is truly a musician’s music shop. The owner has a breadth of knowledge on all types of gear.
This is a weird spot, there’s some pretty rare oddities and unique items that are fun to see in person if you’re into vintage synths/audio equipment. The problem is the prices are absolutely outrageous (well above market price) and the synths are not nearly in good enough condition to justify it. The space is incredibly disorganized and messy, so I wouldn’t recommend it for someone who wants a more professional environment. It’s a fun showroom, but not much more.
This is a great store, pretty unique in its selection, and the fact it has been around for so long is a testament to the owner.
Great selection, pretty lousy service. Half of the stuff in the shop is broken, none of it is plugged in (despite it being 90% keyboards and synthesizers), so good luck trying something before you buy it. They have a nice selection of used gizmos and gadgets though, and I assume the proprietor is nicer if you need something fixed or come in the store with $5k to drop on a vintage moog.
Cracked the finish of my $2,000 guitar – be careful when you bring instruments in there. You don’t get direct access to the tech and the owner is very sketchy. I stopped going there after that incident and am much happier with another business.
This place sucks!
The place is ok. They don’t have many instruments to choose from.
6. Old Style Guitar Shop
Address: 510 A, 510 N Hoover St, Los Angeles, CA 90004 , Lake Los Angeles , California , United States
Amazing technicians with outstanding service. These guys really know how to properly set up an instrument!
Mark is amazing. The whole team is is super helpful. And the store is gorgeous.
Changed this review because I know Old Style is a small indie shop trying to get by …
Seems like a cool shop with cool folks who were having a bad day. They got annoyed at me playing for less than 30 minutes on a shop-built guitar … You’d think they want to sell those.
Tourists: This is probably a good shop for repairs, but not playing and trying instruments. I like a guitar store that will just let you play and try for a long while, especially if you’re a courteous player who knows how to handle guitars.
Locals: hit this place up for repairs, rare gems, and Fender-style custom builds!
Nice and quaint, staff knowledgeable
Wow this place is worse than I thought too getto
And they lost a customer before I even thought of visiting with the owner’s “adult day care” response to a review. Consider a different career.
Called inquiring about what Electric 6 string fenders they have in stock, and all he said was ‘it’s best you just come into the shop’. Seemed real snobby. I’m a very impulsive buyer and a serious player. I said I’m likely chasing s strat. I really want an aged white with a 70s headstock and a rosewood fretboard. And I’ve got 2k burning in my pocket. I’m also interested in a thinline tele. But he didn’t seem to really care what I was after or to give me any friendly encouragement to check out what he has, just wanted me off the phone and presumed I didn’t know what I was talking about.

He can fix everything and make your guitar sound perfectly thank you so much
8. Sam Ash Music Stores
Address: 7360 Sunset Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90046 , Lake Los Angeles , California , United States
Really friendly and helpful staff. No pressure, and great selection.
There’s no place like home… Thanks Sam Ash))
I’ve been here a few times and I love this place. I especially like Scott because he’s helped me twice and he’s always been so professional and patient with me. You rock Scott! Keep up the good work!
The had the product. Sales associate was friendly. They could have the product available in more stores locally. Prices are competitive.
It’s a hyper experience.
I felt like my seller was on amphetamine.
So I decided not to rush into purchasing an expensive amp system.
Very nice
Gave my husband the wrong pod for his guitar, and it caused a pickup to burn out. Would not trust them again. They may have a better deal on their parts, but its not worth it.
Dont buy here buy across the street guitar center
They will charge 15 percentage even if you return it brend new in a bag
Service very bad
Went in to buy guitar on Thursday Thursday came back Saturday to purchase it had a price set with my sales person but since he was not in there that day they would not honor his price terrible customer service They just lost a customer that spends $10000 a year there
9. Caveman Vintage Music
Address: 3231 N Main St, Los Angeles, CA 90031 , Lake Los Angeles , California , United States
Excellent experience, great selection, and friendly people who answer all your questions. I’ll recommend the store to anyone.
Excellent helpful folk….
Great little place for your guitar needs and instruments. They also sell albums and tapes ,but there prices for album are very expensive, this is Lincoln heights, not Hollywood or Fairfax
Cool place
Good store. Friendly atmosphere.
10. International House of Music
Address: 821 S Los Angeles St, Los Angeles, CA 90014 , Lake Los Angeles , California , United States
Very friendly and helpful staff I love the decorations inside lol
It will be better when they repair the studio speaker I purchased from their.
large, musical instrument and recording gear store in dtla. low pressure sales staff, nice acoustic guitar room and upstairs drum room both allow playing instruments.
It’s okay but it’s downtown and the prices are three times higher than Guitar Center or regular music store so I wouldn’t go there five of you
Went here a few months ago in search of a new accordion. Ended up looking at a Hohner Compadre, after a few minutes of demonstration one of the workers (Eduardo) really tried to push me into buying it, a bit suspicious like. I liked the accordion and about 10 minutes from trying it out I had purchased it. I made a mistake of not looking at it from all angles because hours after I had left the store I had found many dings and scuffs on the bottom and side by the air valve. After a while of playing it as well I had realized the reeds inside the accordion were out of tune. I live 7 hours away from this store so this was all very inconvenient for me. I called the store a week later to see what they could do for me, I spoke with Eduardo, he denied knowing anything about the scuffs and said there wasn’t much he could do, but talk to the manager. They did offer to fix the reeds and tune them however, they wanted me to send it to them from my own pocket. This store will only treat you like royalty if you are famous and give them publicity online. I will not be returning.
Everything here is kinda ehh, and it’s more expensive then other places. I would suggest to go to Sam Ash or Guitar Center instead.
Needs more books
11. Guitar Center
Address: 7425 Sunset Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90046 , Lake Los Angeles , California , United States
Great selection and very good service. I would say a excellant place to try out a instrument before you buy.
Es una enorme tienda de instrumentos. Recomendado para cualquier músico. Hay teclados, guitarras, metodos, accesorios, etc.
Mui buena atension ✌
I prefer to come to the store and shop, but you’re forcing me to shop online, because you don’t have products in store, under a certain amount of money not smooth or cool but thank you.
Excelente
Fun place. Great instruments.
No one seem to know anything. I drove an hour there, hoping for personal service and knowledge but I should have just ordered online.
Good selection, friendly staff, but their security is overbearing and demeaning. The Fourth amendment of the Constitution protects us against warrantless search and seizure. However, the security guard wanted to check my receipt and have me empty my pockets before leaving the store. I refused and he told me I wouldn’t be allowed to leave unless I did. I told him we could see what my attorney has to say about that, and then he let me leave. Do not submit to warrantless searches.
Drove all the way to Hollywood to pick up an audio interface with the price that Sam Ash was currently offering. The manager was not willing to match the price so the “Price Match” offering from guitar center is a complete lie. I walked across the street to Sam Ash knowing they didn’t have the audio interface in stock at this particular location (would have went there initially if they would have). However, I hoped they would have something similar and they did….. Therefore, I spent my money at SAM ASH.

Awesome, staff! Place have what im looking for when it comes to music equipments.
Todo un mundo de instrumental de musica.Visitalo de verdad, bueno, bonito y barato jejejejejejejejejeje.
A very good collection of guitars. Bought one for my son . The lady at the counter was very helpful . Overall a very good experience
I go here everytime i need good quality instruments.
The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and the store selections are quite impressive across the spectrum of instruments and pro gear. The new prices are on the steep side though, considering the buying power the chain has. There are a few used items that have decent prices, plus a good return policy.
Employees helpful . The store unkept and dirty….
Always Understaffed and Computer System down, Obviously a company that cares more about $ than customer experience
Sold me used gear as a new
Inventory has dwindled substantially over decade or even since it first appeared and knocked West LA music out the area. Westwood Music north of here is gone. McCabe’s, True tone, and the little old Marina Music may be all that’s left.
Pandemic also hit Guitar Center hard.
13. Adam’s Music
Address: 11742 W Pico Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90064 , Lake Los Angeles , California , United States
I’ve been going here since 8th grade (going to college now) and I’ve never had a bad experience. These people are friendly, easy to work with, and very knowledgeable. I trust that they won’t rip me off during repairs like a stereotypical sleazy car repairman charging for headlight fluid. I’ve had both clarinet and violin lessons at Adams and both of those teachers were very helpful teachers as well. Overall awesome place, I wish I could work there and listen to clarinet squeaks all day.
Adams Music, it’s always a great pleasure to do business here, the front counter gentleman is very knowledgeable and knows exactly what you need or what you were looking for!!
Very helpful. Even though it’s not something he sells, he fixed the problem to my satisfaction. As he doesn’t have the tool I need, he offered to order it for me. Then he showed me which one in a catalog so I can order it myself. Very helpful. Thanks
Depending how, when or who you contact to, you got a different pricing for the same item. I needed my violin restrung with Dominant strings and was quoted over the phone by staff-G for $65 including installation. Two days later in that weekend, I was asked in the store by staff-R to pay $92 for the same job. If I really paid the latter and I didn’t in fact, just kept me wondering why the pricing was so much different. However, the staff In general are kind, knowledgeable and skillful. No trace of racism was found as quoted by the previous customer.
Very friendly but this music shop is geared towards music lessons.
Escuela de música. Si bien venden instrumentos musicales, son de estudio
14. L.A. Music
Address: 2238 W Pico Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90006 , Lake Los Angeles , California , United States
Have bought several instruments over the years from this business. Usually a good price and don’t have to worry about getting a kockknoff. Purchased a king student trombone, a bundy trumpet, a bach 36b trombone and a banjo. All great instruments.
Unable to go inside or check the products.
They sell you $7 dollar guitar strings for $20
Bad experience with LA Music. I brought in a guitar for repair (damaged jack) on a Saturday, and was informed it would be completed in just 24 hours. I returned the following Wednesday, and nobody in the store knew about my work order upon viewing my receipt. They did not know where my guitar was, nor did they know if my guitar was even being repaired. The lady I spoke with claimed that the 24 hour time limit for repairs was wrong information, and small repairs (such as a damaged jack) were not even completed at the establishment. Lady was rude to me and said she “works at [her] own pace.” Overall, I wasted my time and money trying to get a damaged jack repaired at this establishment.
Do not take your brass instruments here. I brought my trumpet in for sticking valve pistons. My trumpet is a 20 year old Holton which was recently refurbished (in Ohio). However, the valves were not worked on and I only recently realized they need service. Otherwise the trumpet is in excellent condition.
I was quoted $80 for the valve service. When I returned to pick up my trumpet, the lady at the counter tells me their technician said my trumpet doesn’t even have the right parts on it (makes no sense) and claimed that it was different brands pieced together. Every component is Holton, as I said I know my trumpet and have had it 20 years.
Second, she claims her technician didn’t even want to touch the trumpet and said that the amount of work needed would cost $450.00. I asked what work. She didn’t have an answer.
If you are an experienced musician, I highly recommend finding a place with actual experts who know what they’re talking about.
15. Mikaleno’ Guitar Setups & Repairs
Address: 440 N Coronado St, Los Angeles, CA 90026 , Lake Los Angeles , California , United States
My 4th setup by Mikaleno. You will not find better service and you will not find a better price. He does amazing work and takes whatever you’re playing to its fullest playing potential.
Mike does great work at an amazing price! I’ll be taking my guitar and bass to him in the future instead of Guitar Center. Very fast turnaround too!
Best in the game without a doubt. Got my guitars playing like I never thought they could. ✊
Mage is patient, supportive, thoughtful and very skilled. I thoroughly enjoyed everything about my experience of studying with her including the lessons and the homework. Thank you Mage!
Such enthusiasm! I appreciate how hard Linda works. She is an amazing musician! ♥️
Sharp lady! Knows her stuff: computer savvy and a patient teacher.
Good analyst and problem-solver.
17. Lee’s Music
Address: 606 S 1st Ave, Arcadia, CA 91006 , Lake Los Angeles , California , United States
A woman took care of us during our transaction. We opted to rent due to our child being small and will most likely move on to a bigger violin soon. She was very helpful and friendly with our two kids.
Great service, friendly people. Reasonable price.
Great friendly repair service!
Ms. Lee is a great piano teacher. She’s very patient with my two daughters.
Nice service, great selections of musical instruments and accessories. Reasonable prices. Music lessons available. Ask for Harold, he is very helpful and patience.
Nice friendly store with so so selections
Rude! I went to buy a book for violin and they yelled at me and my sister because my sister just told her the total of money she was giving them. NEVER GO THERE!!!!!
My review is based mostly on my customer service experience. I went in and told the young lady behind the desk that I was looking to rent a cello for lessons. She asked what size and I told her I did not know, that this was all new to me but it would be for me (an adult). She then told me the cost. I asked if I could hear the different cellos. In reading up on renting a cello, one article recommended that you hear the cello so that you could judge by the sound which one you prefer. It also indicated that the cost and quality of the cello is often reflected in the sound. The young lady looked at me as if I was crazy and asked what I meant by could I hear them. I explained to her that I wanted to judge the sound of the different cellos and she told me that for student cellos there is just one. I then asked her if the rental came with the bow and rosin and if there was anything else I would need. She then told me the rental came with the bow but she didn’t know what else I needed because she didn’t play. Hmmm…. not really helpful I thought. So I again leaned on the information I had read up on and asked to purchase the rosin and a beginners book. The young lady went and got the cello and book. I then asked her if the instrument would be tuned or if that was extra. She looked a little surprised and then told me it would be tuned. Then she proceeded to turn the knobs on the cello and pick at the strings. I thought to myself, just two seconds ago you told me you don’t know anything about the cello, you don’t play and don’t know what i need to begin lessons but now I’m supposed to trust you are tuning the instrument? She then handed it back to me and said, “it’s tuned”. We filled out the paperwork and she ran my card. I repeatedly looked her in the face and smiled, first because it is polite, second because I am depending on her for assistance and third, I was hoping to evoke some professional courtesy from here. It didn’t work. She handed me my rental agreement and looked back down at what she was doing. There was no attempt to educate me or provide me with any helpful information in any way. Most specialty services will offer a little bit of advice or recommendations when assisting a first time shopper or novice in the field the service is being offered. Not here. Not the warmest or most customer friendly experience. Hopefully, my lessons (which will be taken elsewhere) will be more enjoyable.
18. Candelas Guitars
Address: 2724 E Cesar E Chavez Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90033 , Lake Los Angeles , California , United States
Candelas Guitars is a flavorful badass conduit for life-skills in the form of guitar lessons. Generations of experience and craftsmanship has coaxed the depth of my cultural roots to the surface. Kenneth’s teaching is on point, well-rounded, and individualized. His passion for guitar music is palpable and inspiring. Highly recommend!
Took my Guitarron in to have the action lowered. They did a great job and got it back to me sooner than I expected. I am very pleased. Excellent work and customer service. Glad I came here.
It’s all good in the hood
I want to go there, we are distant relitives, i am Frank de Carro and Delores Rea’s grand daughter, i knew 9f tio Candelas we (i must have been 5-6) went to visit mi tio and mi tia at their beutiful house that had a back porch the over looked a beutiful cliffside. We stayed a week, that is when i lernt that mi tio had made “micky mouse’s first guitar” . Someday i told myself i shuld stop by and say hello. Nice for the great , informational articales on your site ,cant wait to meet my family, someday
I just had the inductor switched on my wah by Eli at Guitar Center’s repair center and let me just say that it’s a brand new wah. Great work, excellent communication, and will work with you if you need a repair or mod in a hurry.
The guitar instructor Kenneth is very helpful and friendly, and he is also knowledgeable about a variety of guitar techniques. His teaching style can fit the need for adult/recreational learners.
Terrible service. Needs to work on their customer service skills. I do not recommend.
19. Zargarian Music Center
Address: 1423 1/2 W Kenneth Rd, Glendale, CA 91201 , Lake Los Angeles , California , United States
Un buen lugar para los músicos bueno bonito y barato
Ay un buen surtido de instrumento para grupo o banda
It was excellent
Straight up great spot for anything you need. Very good prices and lots of inventory of much needed gear. Instruments plentiful to choose from.
GHS bajo quinto strings are too expensive ($29.99). I know other places where i can get them Cheaper but kind of far. At La Casa del Musico off 1st ST and State they have them for $17.00 and at Sebastian’s Music for $15.00.
The employees don’t know what they’re doing and it seems like they just hire anybody
