2. Quicksilver Recorders
Address: 5792 US-278, Sulligent, AL 35586 , Lamar County , Alabama , United States
You can always find something here. Lots of dealers, two stories, mostly antiques with some newer pieces thrown in. I love the hand made soaps that are at the entrance.
I could spend all day browsing in this store! So many beautiful and unique items here.
Full of antiques
I found 2 records from my youth. Asking price was 38 and 25, I offered $50 for both. My offer was accepted. I cannot wait to play them.
Love go here always friendly place lady’s there just nice
Homey place with more first class antiques than you can shake a stick at. Prices are reasonable too. Friendly folks
Small and dirty
6. Jerry’s Music
Address: 1140 25th St W, Jasper, AL 35501 , Lamar County , Alabama , United States
Nick has been fabulous as a guitar instructor for my son!
Started to buy a more expensive guitar as gift but after owner ask me several questions realized it wasn’t right for my nephew. Got what I needed at a better price and my nephew was elated. Music lessons are customized to age, ability, and what kind of music you like. My nephew was playing a real song after a few lessons.
Highly recommend! Nick is a great music instructor and very knowledgeable in instrument repair. Great selection in accessories and instruments as well.
The music store had the banjo strings I needed.
9. Jerry’s Music
Address: 2000 Hwy 45 N, Columbus, MS 39705 , Lamar County , Alabama , United States
Good selection of instruments and accessories. Knowledgeable staff as well.
Jerry’s good people. Prices are nice, service is great. He does good trade deals, too. 10/10 would recommend.
Adequate.
Decent selection of instruments and accessories
Fair selection of musical instruments. Knowlegable staff.
Not alot of options for band instruments. Excellent knowledge of product.
VERY dishonest business! We were sold a VSO (violin shaped object) and told it was a real, properly working violin! Even a beginner cannot play on this TOY. The strings are not evenly spaced, the bridge is too low, the fine tuners don’t work (one doesn’t even TOUCH the string), and it is made of plastic! Do NOT BUY FROM THIS BUSINESS! When we tried to return it, they would not give us our money back! OH! And they supposedly “measured” my daughter for it and IF it was a working instrument, it still would have been too big! You have been warned! Do not throw your money away on this horrible business!
They were closed. Sad face.
10. McDonald’s
Address: 44345 AL-17, Vernon, AL 35592 , Lamar County , Alabama , United States
Much better than both of the ones in Columbus. Coke actually tastes like coke and the food orders are accurate. A big plus is that the employees actually treat people with courtesy and respect here too.
Update: last few times have had issues with things like little to no ice available, no cheese on CHEESEburgers, cup lids that don’t fit 100% correctly. Just little quality things. Still better than the Columbus MS ones.
Best McDonald’s around.
There service is fast
Patient and friendly staff. Good quality, hot food. Fries were fresh and not too salty.
The food is ok
Worst grilled chicken sandwich I’ve gotten from there..chicken nuggets were kinda old too but the frappes and mcflurrys are always a plus
It was ok but the person taking our order was kinda Rude
McDonald’s is cut and dry. It’s your typical fast food burger place. I don’t know what happened to the McDonald’s in Vernon, I use to go there every morning for coffee, but lately they can’t even get my coffee order right. The food I’ve received from there the last few times I went was either wrong or just plain gross. No one wants old fries but an old fish sandwich could make someone sick. Last time I had to ask for my money back, the manager didn’t say a word she just gave me the money. An apology in the least would’ve made the situation a little better but I don’t think I’ll be stopping at this location again.
Good music store. Decent on the shelf selections at reasonably fair prices. Pretty sure they will take care of you if you know what you want. Great place for a good start and for fine quantity. I will be back. Thanks man! Wouldn’t hurt to regulate the humidity in your store for your wooden instruments. They might resonate more. Just because I like yuh
The staff is very helpful and knowledgeable. Instrumental instructors are very good and great rate for classes.
Excellent music store.
Great local guitar store. Eric does a great job running this store.
Nice small business. Very helpful.
Great sales,super repair work!
The people are nice but the stuff you buy here is garbage.
I went in yesterday and asked about a Gretch open back banjo on the back wall that didn’t have a price tag. The reply I got from the bearded gent behind the counter was ” I don’t know, probably $300 or something”, and then he walked away like I didn’t exist. The vibe I got from him was “I dont want to help you. I won’t help you”. I buy a LOT of instruments and spend thousands of dollars per year on all sorts of music equipment, but this store has shown me that they don’t want my business and they aren’t interested in having any sort of customer care. I didn’t want to go to Guitar Center anymore, I would like to buy from a local store, but Guitars and More has discouraged me from doing any business with them. My advice to other customers is to go elsewhere. They don’t want your business and they don’t deserve your business.
13. Guitars and More LLC. Cullman
Address: 103 2nd Ave SW, Cullman, AL 35055 , Lamar County , Alabama , United States
We visited the store to find a bridge for my nephews guitar. The gentleman that greeted us went out of his way to help us. Excellent customer service.
Always a great experience, great people always willing to help
Great selection.. knowledgeable staff and nice brands
Nice clean store
Went with friend he was very satisfied
Went with my husband
Not a good experience at all, they have rescheduled my grandson twice, mind you we did not miss any sessions, they rescheduled us and then just took us off the schedule period. Carried my Grandson anyway thinking he was on schedule and Sage came in 10 minutes late and finished 5 minutes early…making it a 15 minute session instead of a 30 minute session as paid for. Spoke really negative to my Grandson and then refused any refund for missed sessions that THEY canceled. My Grandson loves everyone but does not want to go back, I’m saddened that because someone is a child that they are treated with less respect.
14. Wayne’s Music
Address: Amory, MS 38821 , Lamar County , Alabama , United States
Very knowledgeable and helpful in getting the equipment we needed.
Ask for Ron or Linda or anyone!!!!
Went in for parts to a 100 year old antique baritone. Woman in there named Hannah was awesome and helped me replace several items. Answered all of my questions and was overall awesome. She could probably fix anything that came in that door and I wouldn’t hesitate to go in if you need a repair.
Very helpful and friendly
It’s nice that stores like Art’s are still around.
This is an excellent music shop with any kind of music instrument or sheet music you might be looking for – whether student model or professional level instrument they have it. Recommended
They have good instruments, but when I walked in, I walked straight past about 3 or 4 employees who were unoccupied at the moment and nobody said a word to me. I will never visit or buy from them ever in my life.
Was in there for 20 minutes with my kid and wasn’t even acknowledged. Tried to get their attention but employees were in a rather long discussion with each other. We are now at Bailey Brothers which is a block away so we can purchase a bass guitar for my son. Customer service actually exists at Bailey Brothers. It does not at Art’s. Such a disappointment. We had heard good things about them.
High pressure sales tactics on major purchases. Uncomfortable atmosphere throughout the store, once you state that you might not be purchasing item that day you might as well be dead to them. Stuck up to say the least. Support other businesses if at all possible.
Josh is amazing. My 9 year old has excelled in his guitar with Josh’s lessons. He has been playing a few years from other instructors, but within a few weeks Josh honed in on what he liked and gave his abilities new life. Josh guided him to write his own songs, and gave him direction of different versions and options to try. We love Josh and definitely recommend him for virtual or in person lessons. He also puts together a great recital to showcase the students with each presentation unique and well-planned.
Josh is a great guitar instructor. He meets you right where you’re at no matter if you have experience or not he’ll get you playing in no time. He makes lessons fun and stress free. Couldn’t recommend him enough!
Josh is fantastic. I decided to jump into guitar lessons, something I have always wanted to do but never thought I could. Josh is a patient teacher. I have learned so much in a short time. He helped me overcome a fear of playing in front of people. If you are thinking of taking lessons, I highly recommend you choose Josh.
17. Ron Partain’s World of Music
Address: 1914 Cogswell Ave, Pell City, AL 35125 , Lamar County , Alabama , United States
The nicest people and very. If they don’t have it, just ask they will try to order it
Great local find, friendly/knowledgeable staff that seem happy to be there and eager to help! They had great versatility in brands/equipment/price ranges suitable for anyone it seems, wether beginner or pro. Definitely will be back
It’s a shame places like this will be going out of business soon. If they would have what I needed or was interested in like certain pickups or more interesting pedals and better guitars this would be an awesome place the last time I went in there the walls were filled with Nashville guitars and they had a couple good electrics but literally every acoustic guitar hanging on the wall was a Nashville guitar and I was looking for a Taylor or Martin but I’ve never seen anything like that in that store I go there to buy picks and strings but that’s only because they don’t have a guitar store in Talladega. When they don’t have pickups I need they asked me if I want them to order it but in this day and age I can just do that myself and get it for cheaper because looking at the price of the looper pedals they’re not buying them wholesale they’re buying them straight off of a website and marking the price up.. The people are super nice I hate giving a three-star review but I’m just being honest.
Nice place. Good selection conveniently located.
It’s a standard small music store. There aren’t a lot of new high end instruments here, but they are all very nice folks.
I read reviews for this shop and thought it was an honest place to sell my gear. I walked in with an Epiphone AJ 220, with an Epiphone molded hardshell case I bought seperately, and an Epiphone “Snake Pit” 15w practice amp. ALL in like new condition. She plugged the guitar in and it was only the fourth time it had ever been plugged in. I never put the guitar in the case without wiping it down first. Look everything I listed up for yourself, and you’ll see what I lost. I messed up and let the lady know that I was in dire need of money for my family. The old guy asked where I bought it, and when I told him, he said he’d lost alot of business to “places like that”. No. I looked around the shop, and all he had was used gear that had been repaired and put up for sale. Junk. My guitar was the nicest instrument there! The reason he’s losing business is because he’s trying to sell junk and beating people in need out of what their instruments are worth. The lady acted like she was on Pawn Stars! If I hadn’t had needed the money really bad, I would have told her where she could stick her $200! That’s all they gave me for everything I brought in. Look up the items I listed, and you’ll see I did my part to support this business! The reviews I read must have been friends of theirs, because they definately misled me. Not fair at all.
Walked in today to look around and from the moment I walked in the door, the older gentleman (I guess the owner?) had his eye on me and was watching me like a hawk, made me feel unwelcome to be there. He asked if I was looking for anything in particular and when I told him very politely he didn’t have what I was looking for he arrogantly told me “I opened this store in 1973 and everything you see in the store is priced the same as you’d get it online” like ok bud I wasn’t complaining about the price you just don’t have what I was looking for. When I told him I wasn’t looking to buy today, and was just looking around he made a sarcastic comment about “well if you’re not buying, we can just put this back on the shelf” ??? I continued to walk around and look at some more product and he continued to watch me like a hawk until I got in my car and pulled out of the parking spot. All of my musician friends have recommended I don’t frequent this store, and I can honestly say, after that experience, I will not and will tell anyone that asks not to either. Lousy excuse for customer service.
18. Emiron Music Inc. dba The Yellow Guitar
Address: 806 Bank St NE, Decatur, AL 35601 , Lamar County , Alabama , United States
Always great to deal with. Always have what I need in stock. They go above and beyond.
Cool store, with an awesome staff!
The people have helped me with all of my musical needs for many years now. Even after 4 years they remember me! I really think this place is the reason that I still enjoy music. I started playing trombone in 6th grade and now I have a few different instruments going into my 5th year of college for my masters degree. This store is like family!
Staff is super helpful
Good place to check out some instruments. Bought a Fender Zabrano a few yrs back, great guitar.
Very friendly place!
There’s one guy there (Chet ? Chester?) who is really nice. The older gentleman comes across like he’d rather be in his office or something rather than dealing with the public. Seems he can’t keep young and talented help either, which may also be a result of his extremely unapproachable personality. I agree with the other reviewer … Decatur needs another music store.
It’s music for crying out loud … the atmosphere does not lend itself to the encouragement of instrument try out. It always seems so cold and uninviting. Not to mention that the selection is poor. No used instruments either.
Rude did not want to wait on customer like it was bothering them
Exelente
19. Redbox
Address: 5720 US-278, Sulligent, AL 35586 , Lamar County , Alabama , United States
This red box is located just outside of Dollar general on the highway I use Redbox because it’s cheap good customer service if you have an issue and it’s very very convenient my only reason for not giving it five stars is because if you don’t get a new release right away you may not get one for a week or more they just don’t have enough copies available
20. Martin’s Music
Address: 5000 US-280 Suite C, Alexander City, AL 35010 , Lamar County , Alabama , United States
Andrew Martin always goes above and beyond! You have any guitar problems or questions give him a call or visit! He takes care of his customers.
Very helpful
Andrew is great. He must be great to be able to teach my child how to play the guitar. He is very knowledgeable about music, and has lots of customers that trust him with their prized instruments for repairs and maintenance. Set ups are completed on all his stock, so if you stop in and a buy a guitar, it’s gonna be ready to play. Martin’s Music is locally owned and operated. Responds on Facebook really quickly, and answers his phone if you call.
