Very friendly staff, I love looking at all the instruments they have! Also good at getting instruments repaired
It’s a great shop. The people that work here are very nice. The only problem was that it’s hard to find the right time to go there for trading because they are always doing lessons. But it’s a nice little shop and it’s fun to go look around.
Very inviting kind employee that was very well mannered. She even told me to come on back and see them.
I went in with my boyfriend to get some guitar strings etc. The lady who helped us was polite but wanted us to hurry up and leave. We’ll probably be making a trip to AB Stephens next time
Closed on a Saturday at 3oclock….
Ladies, you need to get into this decade and get products available. And seriously, your prices are insane. You obviously own and don’t rent the building.
The hours listed are not accurate. I hardly ever see this place open.
5. Hang That Twang – Custom Guitar Hangers
Address: 475 Thomas Rd, Tuscumbia, AL 35674 , Lawrence County , Alabama , United States
I’ve always been satisfied with the instruments that I bought there and if they don’t have it they’ll make sure you have it
Down to earth people, they will there best to find what you need
I took my daughter’s clarinet in because open G was not playing correctly. I thought a quick look and maybe some adjustments, and we would be good. However, that was not the case. It needed some work, routine stuff. The biggest problem was that everyone else in the band world needed their instrument looked at too. My daughter had band camp starting the next day. I left the instrument to get fixed. No big deal really. The work needed to get done. I knew my mom had another clarinet that I could get, so my daughter may be without an instrument on the 1st day of camp. A few hours later Emiron called me and said that they fixed open G and some minor things, and that it would be good for the next 2 weeks while she was at band camp. When we picked it up, that clarinet played beautifully. My daughter played it all the way home. She was ecstatic. Emiron Music really helped me out.
Very friendly place!
Nice staff clean store and can stock items for regulars. Mostly past era guitars though. Otherwise it’d be 5 stars
My brother came down from Tennessee to visit and took me in here and suprised me by purchasing me an electric guitar, amplifier, and everything I needed to get started learning how to play guitar. The store has just about everything you need and the staff are very friendly and seem to know a lot about music supplies and accessories. Overall, was a great experience for the first time being in there and we came in close to their closing time but they weren’t trying to rush customers out of their store. Would recommend and come back again for anything else I need.
There’s one guy there (Chet ? Chester?) who is really nice. The older gentleman comes across like he’d rather be in his office or something rather than dealing with the public. Seems he can’t keep young and talented help either, which may also be a result of his extremely unapproachable personality. I agree with the other reviewer … Decatur needs another music store.
It’s music for crying out loud … the atmosphere does not lend itself to the encouragement of instrument try out. It always seems so cold and uninviting. Not to mention that the selection is poor. No used instruments either.
Exelente
Rude did not want to wait on customer like it was bothering them
Greated when we walked in and helped immediately. They answered all our questions and took the time with my daughter to answer the questions she had. Great place and good prices.
Very personable staff!!
Sweet people get helpful
Quality equipment large selection of strings Price is Right
It’s okay. Maybe a broader selection of guitars, but I understand sales and marketing.
Friendly staff
Researched music stores that “buy” instruments. This store popped up among others. Called store. A woman answered. She was cold & rude. I inquired & she said No. Their competitor also confirmed that they buy instruments.
$35 for a flute cleaning kit? That says it all.

10. The Sound Shoppe
Address: 1913 Florence Blvd, Florence, AL 35630 , Lawrence County , Alabama , United States
Darrell and The Sound Shoppe have been a staple for my music needs since I started learning guitar at the age of 13… I’m now 31 and Darrell is still the go to man for anything I need, whether it be something as simple as new strings or getting some real work done on one of my instruments. This place is affordable on all levels but most importantly, the professionalism and knowledge of the industry is absolutely unreal. I would highly recommend this place for anything you might need done, not to mention his “Big D” custom guitars are top notch.
The owner is very friendly and helpful. I am just learning how to play guitar and had to go get an older guitar restrung and he ended up doing more than just restringing it for me and now the guitar is a lot easier to play now. Thank y’all so much!!
Great Place, Prices and Hometown Service! QUIT shopping online and support our local brick and mortars!
Knowledgeable staff. Great deals.
Cozy and good range of product

I’ve been shopping at this place on and off for over 20 years. Way back when it was in the shopping center on Mall Rd. It’s been a while ago, and I had honestly forgotten about my sub par experience until I stumbled upon this place on the net. I took a Les Paul in to get it set up. The store owner did it, and did a nice job. I then took a less expensive guitar in and paid the same price for a setup done on it. When I got the guitar back (my wife dropped it off and picked it up for me since I have a busy schedule) it was obvious that a full setup wasn’t done on the less expensive guitar (which was still in the $1000 dollar range). All that was done was a string change.
Also, while I’ve always gotten along good with the owner, the owners son is now in the shop almost every time I go in and he is extremely unpleasant to deal with. Acts like it’s a huge pain to have to deal with customers, and isn’t friendly at all. I’ve always gone here because I live in Florence, and it’s closer than other places, but from now on I’ll probably be going across the river. At least they are much more friendly there, and if I pay for a full setup they actually do a full setup.
Save your money and time – go to Counts Brothers or use the internet, which you know you should be doing anyways. I would write out what a bad experience I had last time I shopped here, but this is a small town and not worth the blowback. I’ll never go to this shop again.

There are so many beautiful instruments!!! I was obsessed with this particular bass guitar… First experience at Counts Brothers and I’m itching to go back!!!
Great selection and service! Heard someone getting a guitar lesson and the instructor said, “Ready? One, two, one, two, three, four” Must’ve been one of the brothers!
Great store! Nice folks!
My go to store. Knowledgeable and helpful. Use their luthier services and amp repair services. In the last two years have bought two acoustic guitars, one new tele pro, new vibrolux, cables and a new set of tama drums. I Never try to negotiate prices because I want our local stores to thrive. Im a weekend regular. This may seem silly but Im knocking off a star because for a regular customer who does spend money and not just kick tires they should throw in a little something every now and again. A t shirt, a cable. A guitar strap, etc. When i bought the drum set and acoustic on the same day i picked up 6 generic guitar picks for which I was charged. Personally I would thrown those in for free. Hope this doesnt sound petty and this will continue to be my store for as long as they will have me. This is meant as constructive criticism only.
Could have more music techs. I came in and looked at some guitars and amps but no staff approached me. Merchandise was great though!
Good, knowledgeable people when it comes to musical instruments. Very nice people and willing to spend the time to make you feel welcome when you first come through the front door. Say hi to James Midnighter before you leave.
Over priced needed Reed’s and I can get them 10 for 28-32 dollars any where. Theirs was 10 bucks as. And I had to have them that day. Nope I’m done with them
Seems like some decent prices but very stale service.the blonde at the front desk acts like it hurts her face to smile r speak someone done told her she cute 1 to many times
12. Walmart Supercenter
Address: 15445 AL-24, Moulton, AL 35650 , Lawrence County , Alabama , United States
I had the chance to stop in while I was in muscle shoals a while back and this little shop has some super great gear! I saw vintage, and boutique guitars and amps from several different brands. The owner was on site and super friendly and eager to help. He really knows his stuff too. I have nothing but good things to say about this shop, and I would recommend this place to anyone looking for great gear, and great gear knowledge. I I don’t give this recommendation lightly, as I own a competing (sort of) music store not too far away!
This is an awesome guitar shop and the owner and his wife couldn’t be any nicer! Will go back for sure!!
Great locally owned vintage guitar store. If you are in town and play guitar stop by and check it out.
Helpful and friendly
If you were looking for a vintage guitar, look no further.
Nice place. Good people and guitars. If you play or just interested in guitars check this place out.
Well we drove all the way there and they were closed
SUCKED!!!!
