Owner Ron, is very knowledgeable, he’s truly really helpful & honest!!! I love his selections of guitars, banjos, etc. when my husband & I goes to his store, he’s always willing to help when you need him, never ever pushes a sale. And we love when he plays few tunes & sings gives few lessons with the guitar, banjo & ukuleles before we have purchased ❤ he makes you feel at home, he’s a sun rays that makes you feel always welcome!!!!
Awesome place for anybody who likes music. They are very cheap and friendly. I brought my guitar in because I needed a peg fixed and Ron fixed it for free and practically gave me a guitar lesson on top! Definitely recommend this place as the best in town.
Great music store. I bought a tape player & it didn’t work. Ron give me a full refund.
I’ve known the owner for many years. I bought an amp and he beat the best on-line price for the same product. So happy to do business local like that.
Great owner….great place…..excellent information….
Friendly and fast service
2. Gottschalk Music Center
Address: 328 Pollasky Ave, Clovis, CA 93612 , Live Oak , California , United States
My favorite music store! Gottschalk is a special Yamaha Shokunin dealer which means they have a ton of Yamaha products in stock! It’s pretty hard to buy Yamaha right now, and they were able to help me out with the purchase of a YTS-62III! I also recommend and trust their repair shop. Quality work with sensitive technicians. Conner is basically an instrument historian and can help you with that weird instrument you bought at a garage sale 13 years ago. Good people, good prices. Shop local!
They were constantly looking for ways to assist me
Very helpful and knowledgeable
Very nice music store, a wide variety of instruments. Brass and woodwind instruments, some high end horns. A great selection of music related books, too. Clean store with street parking. Visited a couple of days before Christmas, and they were seriously understaffed. The wait was about 25 minutes at the counter. I had to find what i needed on my own. When i got to the counter, the personnel was very friendly and very helpful. So one point off for lack of help, otherwise a real nice store!
The work done to the violin was completed the next day that was good but the hospitality was the worst. My daughter had an emergency, she needed to find a bathroom, guick. The young man said no she could not use theirs and directed her down the street. This just broke my heart. My daughter would have had an accident had it not been for the understanding people at the restaurant across the street.
bad service….workers are rude. I recommend the Hornshop in Fresno.
They NEVER return a phone call or call when repairs are ready.
3. Live Oak Studio
Address: 1300 Arch St, Berkeley, CA 94708 , Live Oak , California , United States
I recorded my own album at this studio many years ago, and since then I have played on many studio sessions there, as a professional musician. I have also taken many of my own projects there, as a producer. Live Oak has always been a state-of-the-art studio, in a warm, secluded environment.
I had a wonderful experience recording the audiobook for my novel, The Control Problem, at Live Oak Studio. Priscilla was easy to communicate with to set up our schedule and payment. She and James, the engineer I worked with, were flexible when a sudden illness in my family required a change in plans. I was very nervous about recording. I have some stage experience, but have never done a studio recorded performance. James was patient with me, and took the time to make sure we recorded the best performance I could deliver.
The studio itself is clean and quiet, with no ‘shared air’ between the performer’s space and the engineer’s space. This was important to me, personally, especially during the winter when every respiratory illness imaginable was going around.
I had no intention of recording another audiobook, but this studio was such a delight to work with, I’m seriously considering it!

5. Venturi House of Music
Address: 1706 Howard Rd, Madera, CA 93637 , Live Oak , California , United States
They fixed my banjo really well I’m surprised knowing what condition it was in. I’m really glad that every single thing on it is fixed and it was a great price only $40.
Very nice people very helpful
I like the staff here, but the inside is cluttered and doesn’t seem all that organized. Not only that, but it’s also hard to tell if it’s open. You have to go up to the door to be able to see if it’s open.
Local busines takes care of there customers!!
Very Unprofessional! I walked in and they were very disrespectful to me and my sister. I would urge people to stay away from this place. I believe in supporting local businesses, however this is not a business that I can fund with my hard earned cash.

Muy buen lugar para comparar
That place is awful. It is crowded. The u can’t touch the instruments and the owner is racist. I would never go there. It was my first time going there and I didn’t stay there 4 2 mins
6. JT’s Music
Address: 325 Clovis Ave #101, Clovis, CA 93611 , Live Oak , California , United States
Took my husband’s guitar to replace a string and we got to meet the owner who played for us until guitar was fixed. This man is awesome. No charge for all the wonderful service.
Dan is the Man. Do you need a new guitar, set up, restringing, polishing or professional opinion? Don’t go anywhere else, this is the place.
Above the excellent, very reasonably priced, and timely nature of this stores services is the personal nature of the experience. After going to JT’s, bigger Guitar stores feel soulless and the customer service does not compare.
I took my Gretsch guitar and to let Dan Atkins check my frets and you said my fret are good so he readjusted my guitar my neck a new strains what impact it up and its really feels good the a6ction is better thank you Dad did a good job thanks.
Took my amp there for a Bias with my own $120 quad matched tubes. Tech called me back saying he dropped n “broke” one of my quad matched tubes so he’ll replace them. He replaced them with “new” tubes…but the brand name(Apex) stickers on the”new” tubes are falling off. Never seen that on brand new tubes. Oh and it took them 2 weeks. 2 weeks to turn my modern hi-gain amp into a blues combo amp. I know the amp tech didn’t even “test” my amp. How do I know? All my volume, bass, mid, treble, gain settings stayed exactly the same as where I left them. Why was my “broken” tubes not returned to me? And why wasn’t there a receipt for the new ones that are falling apart? Very unprofessional.
Unprofessionally running business they were closed early then business hour
7. Instrumental Music
Address: 1501 Thousand Oaks Blvd, Thousand Oaks, CA 91362 , Live Oak , California , United States
Great selection and sales people were really helpful with no pressure. Really felt comfortable taking my time selecting an instrument and had lots of input from the sales person.
Best place in town!
Can’t give a music store less than 4 stars because I appreciate them simply being in business, but I get the feeling that the people behind the counter are just trying to sell me things.
Always a pleasure & A REAL DEAL with John & the rest of the staff @ Instrumental MUSIC/ Thousand Oaks!
This place is the best . Great selection of instruments and a very helpful and friendly staff.Don’t waste your time shopping for your musical needs anywhere else !
