My band and I take our instruments here. We’ve brought our acoustic, electric, and bass guitars. We have also brought our pedal boards, pedals, and amps here.
Every single time, we’ve had the best experience with Tom and the folks at Shake Shop. They are incredible people and have a realistic, and fast, turn around time.
Super nice guys. They do good and prompt work.
Can’t recommend this place highly enough for maintenance and repairs.
Purchased a second hand guitar and needed to get it set up so I figured I’d try a local shop. Tom got my guitar play ready with a full set up as well as a fret crown and polish. Price was reasonable and you get exactly what’s detailed in the package you choose. Even though the frets were worked on no cleaning/polishing of the fret board or body of the guitar, which is included in most other set up packages at other shops. Overall I would come back as Tom was extremely friendly set my guitar up well.
The people here are very kind, informative, and professional.
They take precaution during this pandemic and that is a good sign that they really do care about their customers.

Address: 2628 N Milwaukee Ave, Chicago, IL 60647 , Logan Square , Illinois , United States
I brought home a classic rock and a Disney record. The Disney album has both Scott Joplin’s Maple Leaf Rag and, Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious, and they sound rockin’ ❤
This location (disco city #7 and video ) is closed indefinitely and looks like they are now leasing out the building.
But looks like their other store (disco city ) next door is still open still selling instruments and other music items.
Excellent customer service,,,i got what i wanted,,,great day,,,,

Great Drum Store! I Have to Save My Money , I want to Get #2 sets of Drums: Congas & extra Skins and Stands as My Set needs a Stand. Plus they sell: Music* for your Instrument and CDs and Supplies/Carrier Bags for Drum Travel. And they offer great Gift Ideas like Cowbells to practice and Gift Sized Conga & Bongo Drums. Drum Sets-Cymbals-Guitars and All the Hardware Musicians need to Professionally Care 4 their instrument and Courses for Starters. Thanks. K. Lester
Great shop and ok prices. You can find a variety of music here. The people that work here are helpful. It’s a little grimey on the outside.
This place is honestly insane. Never have I been there before, but I was looking to sell a guitar and figured I’d check the place out. Not only did they give me a very generous offer but this is probably the biggest/nicest guitar store I’ve ever been to. They have individual practice rooms with lots of amps to choose from, the whole upstairs is dedicated to guitar and the downstairs to bass and synthesizers. Will definitely be going back again. However I will add that I don’t think this is the place you want to go if you’re looking for an entry level guitar. Albert was awesome by the way!
One of the best music stores in the country. I wish I had spent more time there when I went. They have just about every guitar you could want.
The greatest music store ever. I wish i could go in person. David especially has been helpful to me beyond belief and made purchasing multiple guitars internationally – frankly a pleasure.
they have real knowledge, and will give honest opinions on specific questions, which really helped me choose the right guitar – and they have robust service processes to back it up. This is such a simple formula but so many people get it wrong.
They also have the best guitars – seriously – what other store has such an incredible range of Gibsons in such rare models/finishes/specs just in stock?
if you ever are unsure about doing business with CME – they are the best of the best.
The employee who attended me was a bit clueless to put it that way, but the store is great, I wanted to buy a kit for recordings and they had it directly in their store, I hate buying online, I prefer having the product directly in my hans.
Full service musical instrument shop. On the pricy side. Very knowledgeable employees. Go on a weekday, weekends are crowded.
Huge selection of guitars, and a lot of nice ones at that. Also a great selection of amplifiers for guitar vintage and modern. Friendly staff. FOR a guitar or music fan, what’s not to like. It’s fortunate there are places like this still around with all the online shopping competition.
Wish title of store would have said guitars only
Might be one of the most overrated stores in Chicago. They only get away with poor customer service because of the lack of competition. They never seem to have what I want to buy and the salespeople are not good at their job. I am a former salesman myself and they don’t listen to their customers and treat them like they are bothering them. I would spend so much money there if they were good but instead I buy online mostly which I hate. I keep hoping that another full line guitar shop comes to Chicago.
Trade in policy is bait and switch. Talk on the phone they say X%, go to the store and then they say Y%. You would be better off going to Guitar Center.
7. Andy’s Music Chicago
Address: 3139 N Elston Ave, Chicago, IL 60618 , Logan Square , Illinois , United States
This store is a surprising place, kind of hidden and full (seriously, it’s packed full) of indigenous musical instruments. Andy and Max are some of the coolest people you will meet.
Andy’s Music is thee Chicago music emporium that you have to visit at least once in your life. It’s just as iconic for Chicago as the chess tables on Michigan avenue or the Red Line Band. You will find instruments you never knew existed. I love this place!
This place is amazing! I walked in and was blow away by the selection of instruments. Some hard to find too!
Professional
Andy’s Music Chicago is one of our favorite.
Gotta love Andy’s! My wife and I are new to the city, but quickly found this GEM. This place is really great for world music lovers! They also have VERY good deals on Guitars and other standard instruments.
Downgraded to two stars. It’s close, which is convenient, but it’s impossible to tell when they’re actually open, or when they’ll answer their phone.
Not open when they said the would be! Very frustrating!
I ordered some reeds and I didn’t receive what I ordered. I received NO RESPONSE to my phone call. I was ignored. I don’t recommend businesses that have poor customer service.
