Is a must if you are in the road , delicious breakfast & bread, a very classic place.
Some of the best food I’ve ever had. Bob’s is very much a European style bakery. There is of course bread and pastries but also a full selection of coffees, and a menu of tasty breakfasts and lunch eats (and soon to feature items cooked in their brand new brick oven!). Bob’s has items that I try where ever I travel in the world (chocolate croissants, croque madam, Monte Cristo) and Bob’s are amongst the best (the chocolate almond croissants are certainly the best by far). Bob started with just bread and it shows. The selection and quality surpasses anything available in the area and is a must for special occasions or just because. On top of all that he has has a great beer and wine selection and a bed and breakfast! I almost forgot to mention the service. Bob personally takes nearly every order and is very accommodating and friendly. His staff are equally knowledgeable and friendly. There is nothing about Bob’s I don’t enjoy except the line when it’s busy because Bob’s is so dang popular with the locals.
Demi baguette with ham and cheese was 99% perfect (not a fan of American butter), and the little flaky pastry was just amazing. Will definitely come back!!!
We went there this morning for breakfast. We encountered 4 employees , one which was rude and the other was extremely rude. We stood outside because the sign on the door said to wait. A group of diners came out so we proceeded to walk inside. At that point one woman came out and started screaming at us for walking inside the restaurant. She shouted at us that we must wait outside until called for. We had to turn around and go outside and waited until the cashier said we could come in . We should have left but we did not. The cashier called us in and I asked if we could go sit at a table to read the menu. She rudely told us no we had to order before we sat down. The food was good but I will not go back to be yelled at . The group before us and the two groups after also were confused and they were yelled at also. Maybe the you feel the food is so good that you do not have to treat your customer with respect . We shall not return!!!
Lovely bakery and deliscious food
Expensive, pretentious, but pretty tasty. Long wait
Our children gave us a gift card and when we tried to use it, they said they couldn’t accept it as they had changed to a new gift card. They said only Bob would know how to pull up the old gift card and he wasn’t there. I have called and left 3 messages to no avail. The food was good but this has left a very bad taste in my mouth.
Regretted stopping here… I often travel through the Central Coast and like to take a break in Los Olivos or Los Alamos, enjoy a few nice buildings and a good cup of coffee. I like Café Quackenbush in Los Olivos, visiting the antique store and, sometimes when rushing, just grab a coffee while filling the tank. I discovered Bob’s Well Bread Bakery during my most recent stop and thought I’d give it a try. I’ve had some modest successes in technology businesses and don’t mind paying top dollar for quality food and services. However, this place is top dollar for rude service. The building is very nicely designed inside and out, but when I complimented the owner his nice shop he gave me an abrupt “thank you” with a tone of annoyance. Business owners, especially those with pricey products, should expect other business owners as customers who will express interest in their creation. A better response might be “thank you, we aim to be friendly place where people like to stop when they pass through town” or anything that welcomes the expressed interest. I ordered a nice looking chocolate croissant and latte. The croissant was good considering the time of day, but the coffee was noticeably weak. Having sat in the car for an hour following two lunchtime soft drinks and having just downed a big cup of coffee I went to use the restroom. The door was propped open with a trash can following a cleaning. I asked the owner if I could move the trashcan to use the restroom, and, without apology, he bluntly explained the liability of walking on a wet floor and that they were about to close. The floor was completely dry and it was 40 minutes to the posted closing time. I didn’t argue, understood that he couldn’t be bothered, and left. I won’t be coming back.
Very strange to find a bakery in a small town. They do make a wide variety of bread. I always judge a bakery by their baguettes. Mine tasted good, but was very hard to bite into. Certainly not a classic baguette. The customer ahead of me was asking the cashier which bread was easy to chew. I soon found out why. The sandwich I got also was hard to bite. Bob should consider this, though local taste may be different.
2. Los Alamos Gallery
Address: 515 Bell St, Los Alamos, CA 93440 , Los Alamos , California , United States
Los Alamos is a Great small town, and the local artisans enterprise provides a variety of local artists. They have great gifts for any special occasion or person. Definitely a must see in Los Alamos.
This gallery features all local artists with a broad range of styles and mediums. It’s in a warehouse-style storefront that’s has cubicle areas for each individual artist, who have the option to display and showcase their products as they envision. A lot of the artists are also new and emerging, perfect for collectors and those wanting a showpiece with a great story. Everything you want from a quaint, small town on the central coast of California.
I am an artist in the gallery. It is a wonderful resource for the local artists that display here. It is enjoyed , not only by art lovers, but by antique lovers too as it is now an art and antique emporium. Easy day get away from LA, Santa Barbara and all in-between. The town has an great assortment of restaurants and country roads to explore.
3. Certain Sparks Music
Address: 107 S H St, Lompoc, CA 93436 , Los Alamos , California , United States
I messaged Certain Sparks Music about a product they might carry. They were very quick to respond and very knowledgeable and even when I couldn’t make it there at the set time, they were very patient and understanding. I followed up the next day they were open and they had the product ready and sitting out for me. Will do business with them again. Very helpful. 5⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Love Certain Sparks!!! Randall and the staff are amazing! My kiddos take piano lessons there and I highly recommend them!
I love this place. Great lessons for kids. I wish I’d had a local shop this good when I was growing up.
It’s a great place to learn the beginning stuff that’s forsure
Bad communication when doing business. If you do business with these people make sure you ask questions because they will not go out of their way to make the deal clear. Messed me up on my taxes and when I asked about it they acted like it was no big deal. It’s a big deal to me. Wasn’t expecting the miscellaneous income form and not only that it was late! Thanks fellas for helping me help you!! Ya’ll rock!! Cost me an extra $140 because the 1099 was late and incorrect. Gonna treat me like I dont have a right to be mad!! If it’s no big deal how about you pay H&R Block for me and I’ll take this review down! Ur mad be cause it’s the truth!! Honestly the truth is worth the $140. All this could have been avoided but u wanna puff ur chest up and act like u did everything right. Ur welcome!!
4. Raymond Music
Address: 7320 Hollister Ave # 6, Goleta, CA 93117 , Los Alamos , California , United States
Took my clarinet to two dealers (closer to me that Nick Rail) – with somewhat lower than $100 in service each. Still had problems. ‘Ross’ at Nick Rail fixed several minor problems and now it works perfectly (to the limit of my ability anyway)!!! Charged me less than 1/3 of what either of the other two charged.
Don’t know if it’s the way to make money, but it’s a great way to run a business from this customer’s view. I’ll go back for my next purchase or repair!
Great, caring, thoughtful kids. And they have the good sense to love The Iron Giant!
Great store and friendly employees.
Great fast service!
It’s been awhile since I visited Nick Rail Music and I was pleasantly surprised at the layout and selection. Service was super friendly too. A few more electric guitars and accessories and I’ll go five stars. It’s nice to be shopping “small business local” again. NR is literally the only music store available since Instrumental Music left and Jensen curtailed their hours. I’ll be back for certain, maybe even walk out with one of those Taylors…:-)
Very good helpfuL music associate clerks…. A
Great line of Ukulelè instruments. . . Good rateinge of fourStars. . .
Came in to purchase a Yamaha YTR5330MRC trumpet and they did not have it in the store so they told me that they were going to try and get the trumpet for me, so I gave them my phone number cause they had told me that they were going to call me back to tell me if they were able to get it, I waited two weeks and no response and now a month later still nothing. I came all the way from Ventura city to the store all for nothing, they wasted my time, very unprofessional when I entered the store it was slow there were no customers they could of called me the same day but anyways I do not recommend coming to this store very unprofessional.
I was calling to get a price estimate, and when I asked “can I get a price estimate on a drum set” they hung up. I thought this was a music shop. Very rude and disrespectful.
Horrible communication and it took nearly 3 months to repair my guitar. Terrible service…do not recommend.
6. Jensen Guitar & Music Co.
Address: 2830 De La Vina St, Santa Barbara, CA 93105 , Los Alamos , California , United States
Love this store. I’ve been coming here for years, and I always leave feeling happy and satisfied…maybe it’s all the guitars. But seriously, all the people I’ve experienced here love music, enjoy helping people and Jensen seems to have someone who knows about every style of music you can think of. This will continue to be my first stop whenever I need a new instrument or advice. Their prices are competitive too.
#FenderAmplifiers
Guitar has never sounded better after their setup service!! I bought my first guitar there 10 years ago and they’ve always been great! Thanks Jensens!
Leaved scratch on my guitar after changing strings
BE ADVISED!!! The phone number that is listed for Jenson’s Guitars is NOT their phone number but rather it is my home phone number and I am absolutely sick and tired of getting a couple dozen phone calls for these people who obviously don’t care about the deflected business. To be clear I have never been there and have no idea as to the in store service experience and thus the lowest rating only concerns the phone number dilemma.
My wife bought me a used Antonio Hermosa AH-10 classical guitar from Jensens for Christmas. They sold it to her for $300. I can’t find one on the Internet for more than $200. Yes, she should have researched before she purchased…and NO, she should not have trusted Jensens to give her an honest price.
7. Lightning Joe’s Guitar Heaven
Address: 100 E Branch St, Arroyo Grande, CA 93420 , Los Alamos , California , United States
What a mind blow experience, the staff was so helpful, the stock was well like I said mind blowing. The owner is truly groovy.
Excellent service and knowledgable staff. I highly recommend this shop.
Lightning Joe’s represents what American small business used to be about. This is an amazing family who have worked together for many years, serving a small local community and beyond. Treating everybody who walks through the door with kindness, dignity and respect. Music is a wonderful refuge from the insane world we live in. Lightning Joe’s is an escape for anyone with the heart to receive it.
Lots of musical instruments
Cool shop with a decent selection (as long as ukes, mandolins, and guitars are what you are looking for!) I was seriously in danger of walking out with (yet another) resonator guitar. And I’m not sure that danger has completely disappeared…
The prices are good for some things, a little marked up for others. But nice layout, selection, and service, and it feels good to support a smaller, local business.
Awesome store huge selection
I went in to look at guitars with my son, I saw the store online and really was looking forward to seeing some cool guitars. The woman approached me right away and was super rude, saying we couldn’t try any guitars unless we were going to buy something. Then we went to look at acoustic guitars and the guy was just following us, he didn’t even care to help us out or ask if we had any questions. I was looking to purchase a nice Martin, but not from there not ever. Super rude!!!! I have a lot of friends who were looking to check this place out as well. I will let them know about my experience too. They would have gotten some great business but they missed out. I would have given their store 0 stars but had to give them one.
USE EXTREME CAUTION WHEN PURCHASING A GUITAR OR ANYTHING FROM GUTIAR HEAVEN!!!!! a “JOHN LENNON REVOLUTION CASINO #338 OF 1965 WAS SOLD TO ME IN THE AMOUNT OF $2,459.40 PLUS TAX.
THEY TOLD ME IT WAS COMPLETELY ORGINAL AND I HAVE E-MAIL CORRESPONDENCE TO PROVE THIS!
COME TO FIND OUT AFTER SEEING OTHERS FOR SALE, THE CASE THEY INCLUDED WITH MINE WAS NOT THE ORIGINAL CASE FOR THE GUITAR! IT DID NOT HAVE JOHN LENNONS ART WORK ON THE CASE!
I FEEL SO CHEATED AND ROBBED!! CONFRONTING THEM ABOUT IT THEY SAID “SORRY WE CAN’T HELP YOU”!!
I WOULD SUGGEST THAT YOU USE CAUTION WHEN BUYING SOMETHING THAT IS SUPPOSED TO BE “IN ORIGINAL USED CONDITION”. ACTUALLY I WOULD ATTEMPT TO FIND THE PRODUCT ELSEWHERE AND FROM A ****REPUTABLE DEALER****!!!!!
Bought the Dean Soltero honey flame burst from there. Half off of 800.00 so I should’ve known there had to be a flaw in it. I was so stoked that they fed off of that knowing I’d most likely buy that guitar, I assumed they just wanted to get rid of that older model. Took it home and noticed a buzz towards the 12th fret and on and on both 6 , 5, 4, and 3 strings. Raised the saddle and bridge a bit but still a buzz. Took it back a day after the 3 day return policy because it was my only day off that week. and the owner proceeded to tell me it was a environment thing that the change in temperature made the neck bend. He adjusted the neck but still to no avail. He went on and on as if To tell me I didn’t know what I was talking about and insisted it was the weathers fault. Still spent close to an hour trying to adjust the truss rod but still did not remedy the buzz. Then he kept telling me I play too hard on the strings and that he couldn’t hear nor feel a buzz, almost to the point where he was almost implying that I was stupid. I kinda alluded to exchanging the guitar but he insisted it was me. Needless to say I loved the guitar and had hoped it can be fixed. Now I moved a good 10 hours away from SLO and I’m stuck with a guitar that buzzes no matter what I do. Nice selection of guitars though. Curse this shop if I can’t get this buzz out and end up having to take it to a professional. Buyers beware.
8. 1880 Union Hotel
Address: 362 Bell St, Los Alamos, CA 93440 , Los Alamos , California , United States
Absolutely One of the most unique and beautiful places ive ever stayed in. TRUELY INCREDIBLE!!
Spectacular wedding venue. Now please keep in mind I was not the bride nor in the bridal party. However being a guest it was great opportunity to step back into history and enjoy a fabulous evening. Whether you were inside or outside everything felt just perfect. And the thought of being able to stay on sight must have made things much easier.
Great time experiencing 1880’s style with modern plumbing. We loved the atmosphere, but we realize that it is probably not for everyone.
Good service
Nice building absolutely nothing going on in this quaint sleepy town.
Cool atmosphere. Horrible bartenders. Overpriced more than I say.
Saloon is closed permanently, don’t bother come here. Only accessible if you have the whole venue booked
9. Don’s String Shop
Address: 1030 Los Osos Valley Rd, San Luis Obispo, CA 93402 , Los Alamos , California , United States
Went to a really lovely concert there featuring BettySoo, Michael Fracasso, Bob & Wendy. Looking forward to stopping by when it’s open for browsing.
A very quaint guitar shop with a wonderful atmosphere and very nice people. Not a huge selection, but the quality makes up for it. Each guitar there had so much character and if its an older one its likely to have a very interesting history. I’d highly recommend it if you want a well made and unique guitar for a fair price.
I love this place so much. Although they are only open on Saturdays, the times that they are open the shop is super cool. It has a bunch of instruments and other cool gadgets. The nice owner said that she might try to retire from her other full time job to get more inventory, and to be open more. She was incredibly nice and very helpful. She gave me a bunch of advice for my Instrument, and where to find more things if needed.
It’s okay when it’s actually open
Wish it was open more days than one, that’s ridiculous. Wish the woman up front wasn’t passive aggressive. There isn’t passion or inspiration in that place anymore. I’d say let the legacy move on and shut it down. I’m guessing a family member took over after he passed away. But the way its ran is like a burden more than a legacy. Sorry to say
This place is NEVER NEVER NEVER OPEN SO DON’T WASTE YOUR TIME GOING THERE. PITIFUL WAY TO RUN A BUSINESS
10. Victorian Mansion Bed & Breakfast
Address: 326 Bell St, Los Alamos, CA 93440 , Los Alamos , California , United States
One of them to maximum 3 music gear guitar stores et C. Staying in business so that guitarist like I can walk in and buy something off the shelf still. I don’t mind buying things online but walking into a guitar shop is an experience in and of itself. Go there, use their services by gear, from what I can tell they sell used instruments so that they can stay afloat. I have plenty of new things too specially strings accessories and stuff like that, but these places are becoming hard to find and need the support the community so get your ass in there keep the music alive.
Needed and XLR cable same day and they were the only place I went to that had em in stock. lifetime warranty too!
Great people!
Great
Hard to find, but they have what you
need or they can find it
Good music store, good instrument’s, but not much parking, and the location doesn’t really give the business the store front draw!
Dan Ernst Owner of grand central music is a Scum Bag with a Capital S.
Bought a roland jx10 from him in feb 2013 said he had it professionally cleaned cause one of the keys did not respond.( shoulda took that as a sighn right there that this would go south.)
Got the roland a week later patch buttons did not work cardtridge port was busted cause he shipped the cardtridge inside of the synth and the internal battery was dead.
Talk to him about going to repair man he got upset and said his repair man pro clean it and made sure it was in running order.
Took it to repair man costed 166.00 he begrudglingly said fine send him receipt.
So rapair man did two weeks go by no response.
The owner is a bs’er and a finagler.
Do not support.
Do not trust.
Eventually we will cross paths Dan.
Thats not a threat.
Thats a promise.
I ordered the bass a year ago in this shop! But so far, they can not send me a bass and do not return the money! What are the problems? I do not know! And nothing intelligible do not meet!
12. Matt’s Music
Address: 211 S Main St, Templeton, CA 93465 , Los Alamos , California , United States
Great customer service, atmosphere, and overall experience. 10/10, would rock again.
Great selection of instruments. He’ll setup your action and tune it up for ya too. Really nice guy.
Amazing service, employees provide great help for any musical reason. Great selection of musical instruments and the sort!
Nice little place. Have gone in a few times for reeds and picks. Staff is really nice and helpful.
I will say that they advertise that they have music teachers who offer lessons there. And say to call for availability… don’t waste your time. I called six times (in a month) to inquire about violin lessons and left messages each time, never heard back. Finally go in, and they say they don’t offer lessons for her age, not a big deal, it just was an irritant to not have messages returned.
13. Full Of Life Flatbread
Address: 225 Bell St, Los Alamos, CA 93440 , Los Alamos , California , United States
This is still one of the best pizza places I have been to.
Great flatbreads (coachella dates) good selection of local wines, beautiful hearth, cool atmosphere. Busy on weekend nights, come early
Atmosphere, food, and service
Ordered a salad…it was expensive. There was not a leaf if lettuce of any kind…a few pieces of fig and orange with burrata.it was tasty but not the healthy option I wanted…nor was it enough food for lunch.
Fun place you wouldn’t expect to find sitting on Bell st. Pretty good pizza cooked in a massive wood oven. There’s plenty of seating but it does fill up quick.
We used to love this place and haven’t been in a while. The food was mediocre this visit, customer service near non-existent and the food safety atrocious.
Usually I’d talk to a manager, but every individual had such a blatant disregard for food safety and cleanliness that there was no point. All staff including anyone who would be the manager, were a part of this disregard to food safety. I can’t even imagine what’s happening in BOH where you can’t see since all this was out in the open customer viewable zones.
They literally let a dog sniff around the kitchen and put its face and paws on the paper that they then served the customers pizza on. It was an employee, owner or manager’s dog by the look of interactions with their staff. It didn’t faze the staff in the slightest to have it wandering in and out of the kitchen, then outside and back in. Was very obvious it was not a service dog.
Watched 2 employees pick their noses and then handle plates and food. Of the 7+ people in and out of food preparation zones, only one had a hair net and only one other a hat.
Watched multiple times while staff picked up dirty customer plates and then not washing hands before handling prep or other people’s food.
Disgusting and an embarrassment to food establishments. I’m at an absolute loss to what has happened at this place. Everyone needs some major training.
We wait order 1 our and this is just pizza, this is not steak or something for be hard cooking! 80% menu for vegans and this pizza like 7 eleven, in other chains pizza please pizza better.
Over priced and rude service. We went for an office function and the waitress already had her tip automatically included so she did nothing but give an attitude. The manager was nice which caused me to go from one star to two. But I will never, ever go back.
